17 Jake: This is the Jet Kingdom Podcast, Episode 1. August 21st 2007 the beginning Justin: Big fly by there. Okay our first podcast I'm Jake and across the aisle the digital aisle for me is This is Justin. I'm very excited. Very good. Very good. We've been talking about this for way too long. Yep It's about time we've done it nice thing. It actually actually happens after so much so much time. So this is really impressed how how Professional it sounded when we when we tried our demo. Yeah, I'm surprised You know, you did a really nice job with it. Well, we'll see how it all comes together So this is a this is a new podcast on the New York Jets and all things related We'll be putting it up on Jet Kingdom And that's about it. We're going to try to do this weekly. We're going to try to go for some sort of weekly thing during the regular season, covering the games and what happened and what's happening in the news and probably what's happening around the league. And in the off season, if it becomes a great success, we'll probably see if we can keep going, draft coverage or Super Bowl coverage. I don't know. Maybe we'll all fly down to Arizona this year. Yeah, I think we'll have to get a sweep. Excellent. Excellent idea. We'll have a suite. We'll be broadcasting the entire week. First thing up, we just, we, we're going to totally rip off other podcasts that we know and love, one of them being Dig Nation. So we'll talk about a beer that we're having. Seems to be a good way to start, start podcasting as I have a beer. So I'm, I'm up drinking a Miller lighter at this moment, which is probably not very much. Is that a Jets pint glass? Thanks so much. It is a Jez pint glass, so I think that, even though it's a Miller way, it's a Jez pint glass and that makes it okay. I'm drinking mine out of a Guinness pint glass, but it's actually a Blue Point Summer Ale. That's nice, I like those. I'm actually representing the Long Island section of the Jets. Can I can I represent the Long Island City part of it? I guess They do practice out here for at least another year. I think it's two more years and then they're headed off to New Jersey Alrighty, so that's us. That's what we're drinking and I guess the first thing to do we could cover You know the the history of the jazz that doesn't seem to be useful So why don't we just go with what's happened in the offseason starting since you know, we had Herman Edwards happened and then stopped happening, which we can get into in other podcasts. But we then headed off into the Mangini era, which led us to a 10 in 6 victory or season last year. We went to the playoffs, played with the Patriots. I was up there.
01 Justin: It was actually warm. I tailgated for many, many hours. and and I Glad to say I don't remember much of the game. It's all been blocked away. I do remember we were in it for a while there and then it just went bad. Yeah, it was our first go at New England in the playoffs. You gotta give us a shot. You know, we had the first time guy up in there. Can't go into Belichick. Kingdom and Try and win in your first season your first playoff team It's just not gonna happen It became very very clear that we couldn't run the ball or the Jets couldn't run the ball I guess we can use we we'll just go weak because we're jet fans Yeah, we can be the the we the we we're the twelfth guy 12th and 13th We couldn't We couldn't run the ball very effectively and I think that led us right into the you know Probably the biggest signing, which was uh, thomas jones or as my wife calls her now calls him now tojo It sounds like tojo to jam, but whatever. So what do you think because she has a broken toe? It could be it could be coincidentally coincidentally So, uh, what do you think about thomas jones coming over to the jets? How's the help out? I'm excited. Um You know, ever since we lost Curtis Martin, and that's another big story of the offseason. Curtis retiring, we'll get to that in a minute. But, you know, we didn't have, clearly we didn't have anybody back there last year who could handle the load. And Barlow wasn't gonna do it for you? No, he's a mutter at this point. He's, you know, two, three yards a carry. It's good on the goal line, but we needed a guy who could take 20 carries, you know, make the play action happen. picks in the second round to pick up Thomas Jones. It seems like a steal. So either they know something we don't or we got the best steal of the off-season. Well you have to look at it from Chicago's perspective. They had Cedric Benson when they invested, you know, number four or five overall pick just a year or two ago. Yeah. And then they signed him to a long-term deal. So you got a guy like that. You know, what are you going to do? You're going to hold on to the guy who's been in the league for six, seven years. You're going to hold on to your studs who you just drafted, who did have a somewhat productive season last year. I think he ran for like six or seven hundred yards. He got into the end zone like six, maybe seven times. So, you know, they saw the potential there to just, you know, give it over to him, save some money maybe on Thomas Jones and get an extra pick. Well, their loss is definitely our gain. Well, I would say so. So now he hits the backfield with us, which is great. I think the best thing that'll probably happen, and probably the most obvious thing, is that it will help out Chad Pennington. I mean, here's a guy who, if we can't run the ball,
02 Justin: the first thing they're going to do is stop respecting the run, and then they're going to all, you know. So. and not let him have any room to run. So clearly being able to run is going to help Chad in his play action, which is really his almost sole game. Yeah, I mean, obviously it's going to help Chad out tremendously. He's got a guy back there who can take the ball 20 times a game and run for 100 yards, and you have to respect him. At times they're going to put 8-men in the box, and they're not going to be able to just jam up on those receivers and make Chad make tight throws. You guys are going to be able to get down the field more, the play action is going to happen, the linebackers are going to fight, and everything is just going to open up just because of the running game. I mean, it was non-existent last year and now teams are going to have to respect it and you know Schottenheimer is going to try to enforce that running game early in the game. Yeah, absolutely. Hey, you can't I mean i'm a chat guy We sound like complete. Oh, absolutely. We're gonna be the best ever Oh my god, just tune in After a loss though, it's just gonna be you know typical jeff brutal brutal Oh, they suck see if we even do all for be calling for clamons in the in the Third after week two after going to Baltimore. I think that segues very nicely We could talk about the rest of the draft. Okay, let's talk a little bit about the draft You know the Jets traded around a lot to move actually before we get to the draft Yeah, you know, I know it actually in chronological order happened after the draft But it really kind of happened two years ago and Curtis Martin stopped playing Oh, you talk about Curtis retirement. Yeah, I mean, it's a pretty big deal. Curtis Martin was probably one of the top five jets ever. Oh, yeah. You know, I can think of a couple of guys who you might want to put in his class. I mean, Nameth. And to me, I would put Altoon in his class because I saw Altoon play a lot. Dom Maynard, who I didn't see play, but I understand was pretty damn good. Um, Quacko. Yeah, I mean, that's, I mean, Curtis Martin's a class, class, class guy. And he's top five in the league ever in rushing. And he did it mostly with us. And he carried us to a lot of great seasons. We obviously missed him the last year, you really see the difference. Absolutely, Curtis Martin is not only is he just on the field, someone who you just respect, unbelievably, but certainly his off the field stuff and he was always so humble about all of his accomplishments. He always was putting himself second in everything he did in terms of his charity work. I mean it was from. It's really something that's nice in an age and certainly with today's news of Michael Vick doing what he's doing, which I don't even want to get into. In today's age, it's kind of- That's a whole other podcast. That's a realer podcast. That's someone else. Yeah. The Atlanta Falcons podcast can talk about that one.
01 Justin: But just in terms of- Or P.M. or someone else. In terms of what players are today and what they mean today and all about the big money and about the big You know attitudes and the cars and the sort of celebrity status these guys become now You know here was a guy who who basically we just did everything so quietly and probably wasn't really respected I'm respected on the field, but a lot of people didn't know who Curtis Martin was I mean, you know, yeah, if you think about that being in the biggest market in the country in the world and here's the best player in the number one market and he's not even considered like a superstar. Oh yeah, no. And he's going to the Hall of Fame first ballot. Well, I mean that's crazy. Now you're predicting. Well, I mean come on. I would put money on that. Do you think he will? Yeah, I mean if I could go to Vegas and bet on that I would. I'm sure there's some ways you could bet on it. No, no, he's, you know, if I were voting, I'm not voting, but if I were voting, he'd be in. Well, of course, if you were voting, Justin McCairns would be in the hall of fame. No, no. Justin Miller. Justin Miller, I don't know. No, I mean, he's definitely someone, I'd love to see the Jets retire his number. I'd love to see him go to the Hall of Fame, first ballot. And if he goes, I will pack up. Have a conversation over the iphone. Yes, put it right up. It'll be a video podcast at that point. So everybody can see us In our garb i'm wearing my new york jet's dad a t-shirt and you're wearing a curtis martin Which is good. We'll put a poll up on the website if well, I still have hair. Oh, that's good For the curtis martin podcast. It'll be all right next to how many how many hairs will I have left? Um All right. So let's talk a little bit about the draft. Uh, you know, it's It seems like such a long time ago, so you don't spend a lot of time on it. If we started the podcast months ago, it would have been more relevant. But certainly with Dorell Reavis just signing the second longest holdout other than the Raiders holdout in Du Marqis. Which is a mess. Yeah, which is there in a mess. So what do you think? I mean, was this a great draft that we traded away? I think it was six picks, and we only got four. But we got the guys we wanted? Or did we? ... lose out on something that we maybe wanted. Should we have picked up Quinn when he landed down there next to us? No, I have confidence in Chad and I don't think you need to take it for Quinn, not when you have a guy that you just picked in the second round last year. There's no point wasting a first round pick on a quarterback when you have a starter who got you to the playoffs last year and you have a second round pick sitting right behind him. Thank you. As for Reavis, I don't know, I've never seen him play. He held out, he was the second to last guy to come back. I don't really like that. I don't think it's Mangini's favorite kind of guy either.
02 Justin: I'm sure he'll get on him these last two weeks in preseason. I doubt we'll see him starting even if... the best guy out there. I don't think we'll see him starting week one, but if he does prove to be the best guy out there, then you know, I'm sure he'll get his play. Certainly, yeah, certainly an interesting pick. I mean, you know, where we need help, I'll go with the, I trust in Tangeini and that if that was the guy they wanted, they went for him and they got him. And if he's late two weeks of camp or three weeks of camp. Again, in the day, I don't think that's going to affect the next three years. You know, first two or three games of the year, we'll be looking back going, you know, when did he sign? I don't really know. The question is really, will he start on day one? He'll certainly play. He'll be in there playing against the Patriots because goodness knows we're going to need help. We're going to need help there. But he certainly—I don't know if he'll start. I think he probably won't start because Mangini will make it a point not to start him. I don't know if he's that kind of coach, but it seems like he has a little bit of getcha or gotcha in there. Well, I mean he's a Parcells guy and that's the Parcells thing to do. That is true. I mean we needed them. We needed the cornerback. I mean they drafted the right position. It's really a question of whether we drafted the right guy. Right and whether he can be the guy who just do I shut down corner I mean, I remember I can't remember the names off the top of my head But there were like three or four corners to go in the first round like just before just after I think they all came after Reavis and it was Did we end up picking the right guy? That'll be the that'll be the key because I think corner was the position were pretty sad, you know, they picked two Offensive lineman which as we talked about in the past 100,000 times that's my thing. I love having two first round picks on the offensive line in those two positions Yeah, I love that great job Tangini on that one and I think we needed the cornerback. So we'll see if they pick the right guy Yeah, there was a guy I think it was rated higher by most draft boards again I'm not a big draft chunky. Although I watch and watch and watch and watch the whole draft But I think there was one of the other cornerbacks was rated higher than than Revas. So it was interesting they picked him versus the other one. I think he went down in the 20s. But anyway, it was a good draft. I mean, again, if you end up with having four players who then make a difference in one or two years and you got them out of the draft... and you only had four picks, then that's great. Because realistically, if you had 10 picks, you're still only going to probably get three or four players that end up doing anything. So the question is whether you have those 10 picks and you turn them into four players or if you have four picks and you turn them into four players, either way, you know, I guess you're just fighting against the odds if you only have four picks. But it seems like they're doing the right thing and going down the right path. So I guess we'll skip over the rest of the draft because again, we can't make up too much time in
01 Justin: in a 20-30 minute podcast. Again, can't talk about the history. But let's talk a little bit about the preseason so far. And I was at the last game against the Vikings. I watched the first one at home, but the second one... that the Vikings game and it was bad. Let's just say it was bad and it wasn't enjoyable. The only thing enjoyable was it was stopped raining but it was a bad, bad game. Chad came out. He didn't throw any in the first game at all. I think he had 11 handoffs straight which was kind of an odd thing. You and I discussed whether that was a man genie psyching people out. I don't know and maybe I think it is maybe we know what now why because it came out and I and he threw It to two picks for interceptions that were run back for touchdowns Again, I think it's a man genie thing. Yeah Like that's just that's just the thing that he'll do Belichick think to do just come out and hand the ball 30 straight times and just make a mockery of preseason. I guess. The only mockery that's now is that we didn't look very good. Thomas Jones wasn't playing. He's got a strained, I think it's Achilles now. And we kind of didn't look great. They ran the ball very well against us. Chad was throwing picks. Kellen Clemmings came in and did a good job. But overall, I. Yay! Again, it's hard to judge because is it the preseason that nobody cares about? No one goes out with a game plan and they just basically are playing their base defense, base offense, trying to work out some kinks? Or are these teams really trying to win? And it's just hard to look at and say, is this the way the team's going to play on opening day? Or is this just a team trying to make some? trying to make some adjustments and try some things out and try some plays and basically get the kinks out. If it's getting the kinks out, then glad they got the kinks out because then if he doesn't throw another pick for the rest of the season, I'll be happy or certainly doesn't throw one for touchdown. Although, if we think about it, didn't he throw a pick for a touchdown in a... in the last game of the season, the playoffs. So it kind of ends the season on the same note that he starts the preseason on, which I'm not, isn't happy. Band omen. Yeah, it is. Well, I mean, it's a whole question of whether the preseason is even valuable to have or not, if that's the case, whether teams are going out there and. Going through the motions are they really trying you know me and my roommate were actually talking about this last night And we're we're discussing whether we'd want a longer season than West preseason You were saying we could have a 20 game season or 20 week season with two bye weeks So you played 18 games. Huh? We would like that a lot to buy weeks. Yeah, but the 20 week season so I buy every 10 weeks. The only problem with that is the first and I've been having discussion on and off on the Internets the series of tubes
00 Justin: Is that it is that you if you have if you do that that just means those first couple games that are really part of the real Season are gonna be crappy They're gonna be crappy games because it's not gonna be they're not gonna be a well-oiled machine In fact, I would say that the first couple games of a regular season are kind of all over the place. This is when teams you think are supposed to win lose, and teams you think you're supposed to lose win, because basically they haven't gotten their stuff together. It's the teams that are into October, November that you start to see a pattern of winning or losing. This September is just all over the place, because they haven't really played together a lot. I think if you just make 20 games and take out the preseason. it. Those first five games are going to be like crap. You know, there are going to be lots of picks and lots of fumbles and, you know, they're not going to be very good games. So I guess the question is whether you have more games, but some of them are going to be crappy. We'd rather have less games, but all of them are going to be more meaningful or I guess better prepared for. I don't know if that really makes sense, but that was what I was pondering today, actually. Bye. Either way, if you make it more, it just seems like you're going to have more people end up hurt. Should you expand the roster at that point? Should you allow more guys on the roster to cover for all the people you might have hurt? Can a running back really play that many games? With Amy Thompson, he doesn't even play in the preseason at all. Yeah, Curtis Martin never used to play. Yeah, he used to get—remember he got a couple years he'd get a little bit and then the next year he's— He said I want more but I mean it's really takes a lot out of the players I'm not sure a lot of games would would help out That is interesting. I've heard they thought about throwing one into Europe and or adding one more game I don't think they go for 20, but they might go for you know one more Anyway, give me more football. I do want more football. I just want more football You know, you know arena league isn't doing it for you No, and either, you know, none of that Canada stuff just doesn't work for me. Alright, so let's go on to the other kingdoms, which is since this is Jet Kingdom, we'll talk about other kingdoms. What do you, let's talk about. Jake: Ooh, other kingdoms. Justin: Yeah, other kingdoms. And in that way, we'll talk about bills, dolphins, patriots. So let's talk a little bit about the bills. Certainly not. It didn't do very well last year. They still don't scare me. They have JP, JP Losman coming back. JP, JP, let me tell you something. JP Losman doesn't scare me at all. He's probably... If you were to look at like What are there 32 teams now? Yes. Is it 32 or 30? I don't want to make either of us sound stupid. It's either 30 or 32. One of the two. Yeah. Anyway, um I would say he's probably the starters in the bottom thing. Really? He's really not that good. Yeah, I mean the thing is you start looking at his stats and I've again I looked at stats a couple weeks ago.
01 Justin: His stats last year weren't bad at all and if you look at them, his wins aren't very good because the team isn't winning and they're not getting into playoffs. I don't think the Bills have been in the playoffs in almost, is it 2000? Ever since the music City Miracle is that been since I've been since So, you know, it's they're they're not a winning team. They're not really getting back to the playoffs you know, is he the Savior a lot of Papers and stuff are writing him up and saying he's gonna be better and he's getting better I personally don't see it and I they argument I have with the Bill Sanchez. I have not seen I've watched the bills games I've said watch chats at Bill's games I haven't seen him do stuff that kind of makes me go, wow, this guy is this guy's gonna be great This guy's gonna do it, you know, how many more years they give him, you know He's heard I think he's heard the first season and came in a little bit in the second season You know, I think now he's on his fourth the last year's third this year's fourth. I just don't see it They lost a lot of people in their and the defense they lost tequila spikes They lost obviously their cornerback and Nick Clemens right from Clemens is a big loss, you know spikes is always hurt for them. He was good when he was around but he was hurt the last couple seasons. Clemens is gonna hurt a lot. Weren't you the one claiming we should pick up Clemens? Yeah I love Clemens. Losing Clemens is, no, Spike's is the guy who's been hurt the last couple of years. Oh yeah, Spike has, okay. Clemens is phenomenal. He's a great cover corner and they're gonna miss him. Severely they lost then they lost their running back when I lost me gay he who you know apparently I'm a trick. Well, they did pick up March on Lynch in the draft true But he's a run he but he says you know a real proven guy he's a nut killer Yeah, he was a checker. He's a jet killer. So only two Two over a hundred yard runs last year our games and they were both against the Jets. So we'll see him in week two Yes, we will In their home opener So let's go on to another fan favorite, Dolphins. So Dolphins had a lot of off-season stuff. Of course, first with their leaving of their head coach. Bye bye, Saban. Yeah, Nick Saban who went. Ooh, I can't coach in the NFL. Yeah, he kind of, he certainly left them hanging. I mean, this is supposed to be the savior. I remember reading all the in Saban we trust stuff. And he came in and played two years. They did nine and seven the first year, missed the playoffs. And last year, obviously- Yeah, they were considered to have made a big jump to that nine and seven. Yeah. And were kind of one of those sleeper teams coming into last year. Oh, that is- People didn't- More illustrated. Pick them to win the Super Bowl. Yeah, they were having to go to the Super Bowl. Yeah, either go or win, yeah. That didn't happen. So Donta Culpepper wasn't ready and Ricky Williams came in and out for two years and now is officially gone and so they start over again. They get Cam Cameron coming over from San Diego. I like him. I like Cam Cameron. Yeah. I think he's got a really good offense in mind.
03 Justin: The problem is they just don't have the talent. Yeah, the team's just not talented. They lost, I think they lost Chris Chambers. They still have Ronnie Brown, who's there. They picked up two years ago in the draft, number two pick. And it'll be interesting. I mean, Trent Green is really the unknown. I mean, this guy played very well and has some really great stats and was in a concussion last week. You know, last year at KC and our buddy, Herm decided to let him go at the end of the season and, uh, kind of actually not the end of season, but during the middle of almost the start of training camp. And so he's gone off town to, uh, to Florida, but he's 37 years old. And, uh, you know what, does he have enough weapons? It doesn't have an offensive line that can protect him. Well, he knows the offense. That's the thing. He knows the offense. He knows Cam Cameron's offense. So that's the leg up right there. He doesn't have to learn it. It's an upgrade. I don't think they have the talent. It's an upgrade. You go from Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon to Trent Green. It's an upgrade. That's a good thing. You bring in... Uh, uh, Joe, Joey Porter from the Steelers. That's an upgrade. Although he's a little heard their defense will probably be pretty good. Although they're getting older, but they said that every year and they seem to get better. I don't know. Um, I think they're going to do better. I don't think they're going to be a powerhouse, but I think they'll do better. I think they'll be more consistent. You know, they were very inconsistent last year. They'd get blown out by weak teams and then they beat the bears. I mean, it was just, you know, What was that about? Their defense played really, really well in times. They kept them alive. But I don't see them... We'll make our picks in a later, right before the season starts. But anyway, I don't see them really challenging the AFC East, which leaves us with the last team in the AFC East to talk about. Maybe we shouldn't even mention their names, but they are the New England Patriots. and did nothing but sort of improve over the season. Is that fair? Shouldn't there be rules? There should be rules. That state that the patch shouldn't be able to get a guy like Randy Moss or good players. Yeah, so Randy Moss joins them, Dante Stallworth joins them. You know Brady was a little upset, his best receiver went off to Seattle, they weren't supporting him. So what do they do? They go out and get him four new receivers. Yeah, and and Ellen West Walker from Miami of which are you know all pro guys all day news Tom a daily and Thomas? Daily is Thomas from Baltimore. Yeah, didn't they beat us out? We wanted him didn't we uh, I think jet pants wanted him I don't know if anybody else Yes, that's a fan. Us. That's our kingdom wanted. That's our kingdom. Well, we want everybody. That's the thing. If he's free, I think, you know, I was clamoring for Cory Dillon. Yeah, you want Cory. You want a clock killing Cory Dillon? Absolutely. Get him in there. Get him into camp. Put him behind. Put him in the lineup there. You know, if Tojo is not ready to go, then I want Cory Dillon in there with Leon Washington.
02 Justin: But anyway, he's still in. You think Cory Dillon? No, he's gone. He's not with the past. Jake: That's what we're going to do next. Justin: No, I know I'm saying we should pick him up. That's why we should pick him up. So that's a loss for them. So the Patriots, I mean, you know. They lost something. That's true, they lost one thing. Well, Moroni now has to carry the whole load. Can't do that. So the only hope for us Jet fans is that Randy Moss is truly the TO of the Patriots, and he can just be the cancer to their team unity and destroy them from the inside. I don't think he will. Really? Yeah, I think they'll cut him before he does that. Cut him you're putting on the table right now that they're gonna cut no anything though cut him if okay if that happens That's played yet, and then in the preseason games, which is yeah, why should he it's bell check? Here's what we're gonna do Brady's out there gonna be fine Brady's out there getting slammed to the ground in preseason I would be surprised to that Randy's not doing it, but anyway the page down the field and Brady's just gonna throw it as far as he can. The Patriots, I think, are just one of those on their swivel team. They're either going to win 14 games or they're just gonna implode. Of course, we hope that they implode, but I don't see them winning like 10 games. I see them either like, they're 8-8 or they're 14-2. But we get, oh yeah, not making picks yet. It's not bad when imploding is 8-8. Well for them it would be... That's not a bad implosion. For them that would be a huge implosion. For a lot of teams that wouldn't be too bad. That's true. For a lot of teams that would be a great thing. So that's the another thing. The Raiders will sign up for 8 and 8 right now. They don't even want to play. 8 and 8 will just put it on the board. Put it in the books. That's it. See you next year. Alright, so last question, here it is. I think this is a two-part question. I put it out there. I kind of was hitting the boards today talking about Chad Pankton and his picks in the preseason. So it's a two-parter. It's, you know, what is this? This is the question. The question of the day. The question of the day. We have like some sort of like, question of the day. Well, I have to add that in later. Oh. I can't do that now. I probably could but I don't know how. Alright, so it's a boom-a-boom question of the day. We're going to leave that in, right? Yeah, we're going to leave that in. You can't edit anything out. We'll take it out in post, as I say on the other podcast. So after Chaz's poor performance on the preseason game, you know, should Man Genie or Tan Genie on the jazz be looking at Kellen Clemens more seriously and thinking about really starting him? And the other side of that is... Do you really think that Chad, as a player, with all his good and his bad, do you think he's someone who could lead us to the Super Bowl? Or is he just not good enough to ever lead us to the Super Bowl? What do you think? I'll start with the first question, part one, if you will.
02 Justin: No, I will. Kalin Clemens should not be considered to take over anything right now. He's just not nearly the quarterback that Chad Pennington is at this point in time. He's unproven. Chad's, when he's healthy, Chad does nothing but win consistently. We go to the playoffs when Chad starts, which leads me to Part B. We seem to go to the playoffs. But we never seem to go too far in the playoffs. Yeah, he's got us to two wins in the playoffs, once against Colton, once against San Diego. Another great win. Another good one in San Diego, which we very could have squandered a couple different times. And a kick away from AFC's championships. I think we were trying to actually lose. that And Sandy, we ended up winning back. Oh, got it. And then, yeah, that Pittsburgh one, that one hurt really bad. But that's the past. The present is, you know, if Chad's healthy, I think he's one of these system quarterbacks where it's more on what is the game plan during this game. And. Because he's gonna he's gonna come out and perform that game plan right and and if you know, he has his strengths He's really smart and he has weaknesses Obviously doesn't have the greatest arm in the league So if teams come out and you know do some things to try and expose him how good of a job can shot and Himer and Jeannie do to counter that right and That's where I think it's I think she had counted smart enough to you know, bring us as far as the team can get. And that, yeah, I think he could. He's the sweetest football. You're a Chad believer. I always have been though, because I think he's a winner. You're on the bandwagon. I am. I think he's a winner despite his obvious flaws. And that is, he just... You know, it's glaring. He doesn't have the yarn. Most quarterbacks have. He probably has the worst arm in the league. Really? Most arm in the league. Worst? Yeah, probably. Yeah. Brutal. You can't even argue that. He's accurate. That's a great thing. He puts the ball where he wants. That's awesome. And if guys are open, he hits them. That's a that's a that's you know, the team that's the mechanism of the team being team right and flowing and that's kind of what our offense is about trickery, yeah bakery Chad's very good at that. That's his strengths. Well as much as i'd love to argue with you, uh, I am on the chan bag Chan bad wagon you're on the chan bagging chan bagging Um, yeah, I mean I I I think he's I would never say he's a great quarterback. I would say he's a good quarterback. I would say he's above average quarterback. And certainly it's been proven in the NFL you can win with an above average quarterback. You can win the Super Bowl with an above average quarterback. You don't have to be Peyton Manning to take you all the way. You can win the Super Bowl with a below average quarterback. You can even win the Super Bowl, but then you have to have an incredible defense, which
02 Justin: we don't have either. So. Maybe an above average defense and above average quarterback and some luck you can win the Super Bowl But I say for now, you know, Kellen Clemens look from everything that was came out of camp last year He looked really bad and not ready for the role. He looks better this year. We saw that last year. Yeah live Yeah, we were there. We saw one of the games he played in and Took two sacks. It's hard to judge on those teams, but basically he's not ready to lead the team yet. You know, it's Chad's team. It's his people. It's his offense. You know, if he gets hurt in week 10, can Kellen Clemens come in and bring us to the Promised Land? Yeah, sure, why not? But basically, I don't think Kellen could come in on this day, on the first day, and go up against the Patriots and pick apart their defense and, you know, score. I just don't think that could happen. I don't think he's that kind of player yet, and certainly he should take another year. I think next year would be more interesting if we're still doing a podcast. Next year sitting in training camp. Next year would be really interesting to see where the Chad Kellin, because then he'll be his third year. Chad will be yet another year older. Unless he wins a suitable then it'll be easy, but basically there might be that kind of well Is it time to move on I think next year though that that will be very interesting But I also think Chad could put up an amazing year this year based on you know based on having a running back based on Being second year in the system based on being not having to come back from major surgery So so that's all good news all right. That's interesting actually though. Yeah, you're gonna wrap it up. I was wrapped it up I was gonna I was gonna continue on that top, but go ahead wrap it all right We're gonna wrap it up anyway your thoughts you know what hold on for Justin's thoughts come back next week to little teaser Justin has more thoughts.
