09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast. As always on this side of the Post turkey day black Friday feeling still stuffed digital aisle. It's Jake joining me in his Pink shirt, but real men wear pink apparently. It's Justin Justin. How you doing? I'm doing great this pink shirt Justin: It says, Meat is Murder, Tasty Tasty Murder on it. It's my post-Thanksgiving shirt. It's a funny, it's a funny shirt. It just is, uh, it's pink. Jake: What do you have against pink? Uh, nothing. Except for when it's on you and it looks gay. Justin: How about when the Jets are wearing... Those uh, those pink shoes are you know the pink if you were wearing to celebrate the you know Jake: For breast cancer awareness that'd be one thing. I'm doing how do you know? I'm not because breast cancer awareness isn't about meat is murder All right, we got a big agenda, right? Yeah, I was at the game huge. It's big. It's the day after Thanksgiving. It's enormous We're talking about the Bengals game. This is double podcast week So we got a Bengals game. Talk about all the stuff that went down yesterday, including me being there, which was epic. We have Nice and play the game And then we'll get to the second part of our... this is a weird week because we were kind of Right after a game and another game on Thursday and we did half our picks on Monday now We're gonna do the other half. Yeah, we gotta do the rest of them. We have two AFC games, AFC East games, and we have the rest of the Yahoo picks with the actual spreads that have finally come in. Because sometimes like the Cleveland games go up and down and so we'll talk about that as well. And if there's anything else we'll get to it. So let's get to the game. Sure, you were there. I was there, it was Happy Thanksgiving. I didn't tailgate. I did a first thing for the first time. I took the train to the game. How was it? Better yet, how was it getting home? It felt very long getting home. It felt okay getting there because you're pumped up and you're like, and people were just rowdy. I mean, there were guys just sitting in the train drinking out of the Jaeger bottle, just tipping it up, just gulping Jaeger. Why tailgate when you can drink on a train? And we, I too drank on the train, but not just... Gulpeng, Jaeger. Lots of chants on the way to the game. Very funny chants. Some are very funny. Some were just traditional sports people.
02 Jake: I would say don't take the train to the game if you have anybody who's under the age of eight. Because there was a lot of, they did the is gay chant. you know, where they would scream out, they'd go, Tom Brady is gay, Derek Jeter is gay, Yankees is, no they wouldn't do Yankees, they did everybody. Then they did Dolphin, and they did that one, and then they did a million and a half Jets chance. So, really, you kind of sat there. No like T.O. and Ocho Sinko. You did that, yeah, T.O. Ocho Sinko, they did that one. But anyway, it was pretty rock, pretty rock-esque. You That was kind of fun. Also hotter than hell when you're dressed like for cold weather and we were dressed for you know preparing for the rain. This thing was supposed to be rained out the whole time. Rained, not like pissing down but like just miserable rain. It was raining in New York when I left. We got in the train. We got to New Maryland Stadium. We're there for four and a half hours. not a drop, the seats were wet, like it had rained, we got back on the train to go home, got out in Penn Station, rain. I don't know how it, like, there must have been a bubble of non-rain over that stadium, because it literally didn't rain. Justin: That's actually part of the $1.3 billion that they spent. It was $1.7 billion, I think. Jake: Whatever it was. Yeah, they put a rain propeller. So other than that, I mean, you know, it was great. It was nice getting there. It was fun to just go and drink beers and not have to worry about driving home. It was cool. Was it packed? Was it full? It was full. Eh, not sold out. Full. Probably sold out but not a ton. 80% felt like, you know, 80-85. Really loud. Tough night. They handed up towels and I was really good. Like everybody got going on the towels. doing the chance was good. Justin: Towels are good when its seats are wet. Jake: It was a good thing. They were Pepsi Max towels. You see the Sanchez Pepsi Max commercial? I did and I think that's the whole point. Apparently he has both, he has that, he has. Does the Verizon one. He has Verizon, we have Verizon local and Verizon national and he has another one. He's making money outside of the old making mistakes at a game. So let's talk about the game. There actually was a game played. There was. And I think I tweeted this at the end, my sort of my overall feeling before we talked about the individual efforts. But overall feeling was the end, the score does not tell the tale of the game. Sometimes the score does. 23-20 and it was a close game. 26-10. Yeah, it looks like we blew them out. We didn't boil them out. We were losing at halftime. It was what, seven to three and a half? Yeah, I felt like we did though. Justin: You do at the end, but we didn't. I felt like the score could have easily been like 40 to 10. Like just they were not going anywhere. It just wasn't happening. That is the truth. During halftime when you know sitting there with my Jake: brother-in-law
00 Jake: Who was sort of just rooting for the Bengals just to give me crap the whole time. Why? He just was doing it just to give me crap. What fan is he? No, no fan. You brought a non-fan to the game? Justin: I guess that's what happens when it's Thanksgiving. Jake: Well, because it was family and he was in town. He goes to the game every year, him and his now fiancé. Justin: And do they cheer for the other team every time? Jake: Well they're both, she's from Ohio. So she's a brown fan. So she's a bangle fan? No, she's a brown fan and she hates the bangles. So she was definitely rooting for the Jads. He just kind of roots. He plays a lot of the games, like the picks and stuff. He's in the pick league, and we've talked about that, a lot of dogs. And so he'll just basically play against me because we're in a lot of bets. In fact, we made like another seven bets last night. If gambling were legal, of course. Well, bets, but not. financial bets. I can bet on things I just can't exchange cash for. So, but yeah, I just had this feeling of like even when we were down, I was like, yeah, we're going to win this game. Like, I'd never had a feeling like they were going to lose. I didn't think it would be close, but you know, just wasn't a really good game for the offense. I mean... Defense did a great job, I thought, shutting them down other than, you know... They finally got to the quarterback a little bit in the second half. Pace. Pace, I think. And then we had a Trevor Price... A little safety action. A little safety action, which was good. Is that in your end zone? Other side, yeah. So what do you think? What do you think about the game? Justin: I thought that was a pretty good showing from... particularly the defense they showed up. The offense didn't look great, but they didn't necessarily have to. There's gonna be games like that where just like last year where the defense wins the game or special teams wins the game and you get a big play here, a big play there on offense and that's all you really need. I never thought the game was out of hand. I mean, even at halftime, losing 7-3 is like, oh well, whatever, they didn't do anything. They weren't going to do anything. Carson Palmer is really awful. Jake: He is gone beyond awful now. I mean, and it's funny, I was listening to commentary this morning on NFL Network and watching the post-game stuff. And they're just like, where's this guy gone? Is he hurt? Is he like, what's wrong with him? How about he's just not good? But he was really good. ... And now he's not good. Justin: How about he wasn't really good? Jake: Oh, so the years that he was literally lighting it up, throwing touchdowns, was really good. He wasn't good. Maybe he wasn't. Justin: Maybe his statistics just seemed that way. Jake: Maybe he wasn't that good. Oh, okay. Maybe he was overrated. No, but his statistics are statistics. You can't, they're not overrated. They are what they are. Well, that's not true. Justin: Statistics aren't... necessarily statistics if you're losing a game You know by 20 you're gonna throw the ball and then your statistics go up Jake: But this is also a team that that literally beat everybody in their division and not on the they ran the ball a lot last year Yeah, and where'd that go? Where's that? Justin: That one is really running on the Jets this year Jake: Well, it's not that bad. I was actually as part of my one of my chance was
04 Jake: Center bench I think the first four carries had zero yards Yeah, he didn't have a good game. So I was going, Cedric Benton in 4 carries, 0 yards, and screaming that aloud. It was fun. I had a good time. It was a really good game. And we had a couple things. Two things that came back in this game that I'm very happy about. One, defense. Back. Defense is back. Let's see if they can play like that. That's a pretty bad team though. Yeah, well, but they shut them down. They shut down a bad team. They had one touchdown. That's fine. You know, 10 points. It's In the last three or four games, they've been running pretty bad teams, or okay teams, score a shitload of points. Second thing, Brad Smith! Welcome back, Brad! Where the hell have you been? You're the slowest guy, and I'm not, I'm not. He's not that slow. He's deceptively fast. He is slow. He replays everything the guy is... He has long strides. He's slow! But, god damn it, he gets it done! That guy, if you give him a little bit of, you know, we've seen him do it, he did it in the indie game. He didn't have a shoe on. He's slow, but he's great. He had no shoe. He's the slowest at it. He threw a shoe. I would actually love to see his 40 times because I don't think he's fasted off. He threw a shoe. I did, I saw he threw a shoe. So having Brad Smith back as a... game changer. Because towards the end of last season, that's exactly what happened. Brad Smith sort of came back and he was doing stuff like run backs for touchdown things. So good to have him back. I'd say that the problem is, and we can get into this, we can get into the next game yet but we can sort of little talk about it, is that This team is just playing inconsistent on all three levels. It's like one week the offense is great and the defense plays, but then doesn't play, then lets a team score 20 points in the fourth quarter. This team, it seems that the defense is really strong, shut down, shut down, Tio, Ocho, Stinko, and whatever the hell, those two clowns shut down. Running game shut down. Interception, doing everything you want the defense to do. offense is looking a little shaky and you're getting Sanchez throwing these throws again. It's like, wait, wait, I thought we got over that last year. Now, granted, he's going to have a couple of bad games, but it's just, it was a step back from the last three weeks where he's kind of been on point. I mean, you know, here he's throwing just, just crap. I mean, it wasn't like they weren't on target, you know? Justin: He only had like one or two bad passes. The interception was a bad... That was just a really poor decision. You should have just thrown it at bounds. And the other pass that wasn't very good was, there was a play, like it was third and, I don't know, seven or eight, and he just completely overthrew Holmes on the sideline who was open. There were some other throws that were, you know, not too terrible. The one to Braelyn Edwards, where Edwards stepped out of bounds, I mean, not a bad throw. I mean, it's 50 yards down the field. I don't know if the wind was a fact. or not was it very windy? No, it wasn't. So, I mean, it wasn't a great throw. If he throws it out, you know, towards the, a little bit closer towards the inside, it's a touchdown.
01 Justin: But, you know, I think Edwards has to, has to make that catch for him. And there were a couple other, you know, throws that he made that weren't great, but he made some pretty good throws. Like, there were some good signs, like at the end of the first half, they drove down the field for a field goal attempt. with like 33 seconds left, then that was a really good drive and the field goal kicker blew it. Jake: Well, that's the thing, the two-minute offense is like, I'm waiting for them to start off with a two-minute offense, because we've really won games on two-minute offense now, three, four weeks in a row, why don't we just start with that? They do that in indie a lot, they'll just like, if you just get the going, because there seems to be a point in the Jets, and I was saying this at the game, seems to be like, it isn't a fast team, like we're like, Thank you. It's never starting fast and just there's been a couple teams couple games. We've done that but normally it's like we get going in The second half. It's like why can't we just start fast and destroy somebody? I don't think it lends itself to our Style of wanting to run the ball like 30 times true good stuff on the running only Sean Green had a had a good game You did Thompson had a good game pretty much and then not huge numbers, but And then you throw in Brad Smith's run and you get 170 yards, which is good. It's pretty good. You know again, Sanchez, 16 for 28 or 16 for 28, 166 yards, you know sacked a couple times. I don't know how they get into him and threw an interception and touchdown. homes, they, you know, homes, Keller actually came back, had a couple key catches. And then, you know, Camardi and Leonard are playing good on D. Those are basically crap throws. I mean, if you look at the replay, one, I don't know who he's throwing to. Pomma wasn't throwing to anybody. I think he was throwing to... See, that's why I thought the wind might have had an effect on that Sanchez throw, Justin: because he was throwing it to Tio and it went up. And once it got up, like, high, it really shaded back towards the middle of the field. And that's sort of the way that Sanchez's throw was up and then it shaded toward the sideline. Maybe there was wind like up there swirling. Because that was, it turned out to be a miserable throw that Palmer threw. It was just to nobody. But when it came out of his hands in the replay it looked, oh he's throwing it to Tio down the field. but then it ended up like nowhere. And the other one was like he threw into three. Triple coverage. He was just terrible. Yeah, terrible. And why would you throw to triple coverage when one of them's read us? Like one is enough. Why three? Jake: And then I think Shipway was open underneath. Shipway was wide open. Shipway's a nice little player. He's like a Wes Welker. Here's our, again, just forecasting a little bit. Here's our issue. Thank you. Again down the field the edges the corners great that middle Week and don't tell anybody but the Patriots actually do really good stuff in the middle there. That's their shit They don't throw the ball deep. Let's save that. Yeah. Well, we got a lot to talk about But you know a couple podcasts to go Justin: All right, so on you it's a win. It is a win. Does it feel like a win?
03 Justin: Absolutely, except if you're watching it on TV, you'd think that they were the worst team in the world Oh, I was Joe Theismann is such a fucker douchebag fucker douchebag fucker douchebag You put that one in your memory bank the he's he's first of all, he's not a very good announcer That's why he's no longer on anywhere relevant, he's on NFL Network calling eight games a year. Jake: Just a question, stop for a question. Go ahead. Why can't the NFL hire better people? Justin: Because it's only eight games. But still hires somebody. You know, you're right, because Matt Millen works for ESPN and he's calling these games. Matt Millen's fine, he's good. Jake: Yeah, I don't like him so much. I don't like any of them. Justin: And I don't know, Bob Hoppe is like a... Local New York guy. I don't know. Maybe they see the guy who does all the Nashville game like every Thursday night I don't watch these. Yeah, you know he does all that crew does all eight Joe Theismann's miserable. He's just terrible He's really not a good announcer and he Turns out he hates the Jets. He actually called us a bad team. He said they're they're not a good team They're 9 and 2. They're not a good team Wow Jake: He said this, they're not a good team. Apparently the sports have been having a lot of tweets this morning about people saying what the hell, if you like, we didn't know our record you would think we were, you know, have a losing record. It's not like we're the Bears, I mean the Bears are just not that good in their seven Justin: and three, but like, I don't, whatever. Jake: Alright, well I mean, you know, TO called Rebus average. Averagedly good. Above average, I would say. Justin: Well, NTO was obviously far below average Jake: because he had 17 yards on three catches. Did you see his post game? He said, you think I'm a slouch? Basically he's pissed he got called a slouch in January. Cause that's what happened is that Revas called him and Ma slouches and just said, these guys don't show up for games. I can see it in their eyes. you know, when I'm on them, you know, yeah, they shut down, but their slouch is. So then he's taking that personally, he's coming back and saying, you know, your average, whatever, that's supposed to spark your team, but doesn't, you're still two and nine, thanks a lot. But then after he's like, you think I'm not, you think I'm a slouch, you think I'm a slouch, just check my stats, check my stats. And he's talking about his life stats. But if you're going to say, check my stats, you might want to say, check my stats over my entire career. Justin: We could also look at the stats when he plays against Reavis, because those are stellar. Sarcasm seeping through the microphone. Jake: It is piled on. I mean, they're not good. No. Justin: He shuts. Thanks for watching! all these guys down when he's healthy. Jake: So yeah, he had a great game and I don't know, give me your play of the game at night. Night and play of the game. Justin: It's too simple this week. I mean, the player of the game is obviously Brad Smith. It's without a doubt. And yeah, it's kind of hard to pick again. I mean, I could choose one of either of his touchdowns as the play of the game, but I'm gonna go with... I'll go with the end around because I thought it was important to score a touchdown there and take the lead and then we didn't relinquish it from there. So Brad Smith and the end around.
03 Jake: Do we have a kicking problem? Yeah, I said it three weeks ago. We still have a kicking problem. Absolutely. Not going away. Justin: No, our punter is phenomenal. Jake: Yeah, that one got quipped by his own guy, but fine. Yeah, it's not his own. But yeah, he had some great points, Justin: but great coverage teams too. They are just- Joe McKnight. Have you noticed Joe McKnight? I think I said this last week. He's playing pretty well on these teams. He's playing like he wants, he doesn't want to be killed. Anyone else showed up this week on defense? Vernon Galston. Really, again? Vernon Galston's back. He was in the backfield. Nice. Almost had a sack, blew up a running play. Like he's coming along. Jake: He's coming along for that. He's coming along. Justin: First round, pick. 40 million dollars coming along he's got he's given us some depth so I you know these guys are actually contributing right now yeah I don't know if Taylor Jake: having numb any numbers he had a phenomenal game though he knocked down like three or four passes but I was but I was noticing that he was around the ball a lot and you know when I was when I was like a good game yeah he was Justin: knocking down like every screenplay everything So who's your player or knight of the game and play of the game? Yeah, it's hard to not pick Brad Smith. We could double up. Jake: We could double up. Yeah, let's double up. Let's double up. He's teased. This is his thing. I mean, I'm so glad that this is the time he's shown up. Because this is the... And it's like he shows up at the time that Sanchez isn't getting it done. Like Sanchez was not, just wasn't firing. And we're putting ourselves... It's also the long threes and the bad penalties. That stuff's still continuing. What's with the penalty? Like just bad penalties like, oh, they back it up and back it up. I don't know how many there were. I mean, there were a couple of bad roughing penalties on defense. Justin: Like there was one like two third downs. I think we extended their drives. One was in the end zone on either. I can't remember if it was Leonard or Eric Smith. One of our white safeties hit. Hit a receiver and they called it like defenseless receiver But he hit him with his shoulder in his chest as he was jumping to catch the bomb with the ball in his hand Yeah, I don't know what you're actually supposed to do there. That isn't What you're if that's not what you're supposed to do then you're not supposed to do anything Jake: Who is the head ref? Yes, do you know his name? I don't know I don't know if it just clued in my head as the game started But when I saw him on the field or some on the big screen I said it just literally turned back turn to my brother I'm like I hate that guy there's something about him he has either called another game but it's like instinctual I said I hate that guy I don't know his name but I hate him because I think he's a bad fucking ref and then he just proved me right all game like I said it before he even called the play and he proved me at all game was really questionable calls he was a real stick it's not like one guy who makes calls you know no I hate that guy well he just announces fuck him okay anyway we had they had two penalties for 25 yards we had eight for 64 yeah there's a couple Justin: bad ones on defense the head about one was also but I don't think these are like penalties I think they're just getting like any any other referee might not have called that you know what I mean like like they're questionable he these
02 Justin: guys are hitting where they're supposed to hit on the chest they're leading with their shoulder but it looks like maybe a helmet. On the other hand, the one time, I can't remember who it was but there was someone who was carrying the ball was either Tomlinson or Green, I'm sorry, when Green got hit pretty hard by a Bengals player, it was helmet to helmet. Right, bang bang, but Jake: that's a lot. Helmet to helmet. It's fine. No, it's a final gunner. Yeah, it is. Justin: Really? You can hit a runner helmet talent? Jake: Yeah, a helmet helmet rule is only for receivers and, well there's another rule for quarterbacks. That's ridiculous. No, no, no, because everybody's leading with their helmet. It's hard not to... No, no, the rule doesn't apply to receivers. Absolutely ridiculous. Running backs. Yeah. I don't want them to get softer. I want them to kind of yeah, but they call these things Justin: It's like they can call that because it was fine. Yeah, but they call these other things against The receivers is absolutely ridiculous the guys in the air that was hasn't even come down yet It's got the ball like on his hands and he gets hit in the chest right with the shoulder And that's what you're supposed to know exactly sure what your action Jake: What you're supposed to do that two guys and that's what he saw the ref whoever called it which one called it He saw two guys in one guy coming down the ball and I just think instinctually now because of all the that gave them points though yeah I know I know whatever anyway so so what's your play of the game though brats with yeah we'll do the other one to run back yeah that's good stuff he's so slow so slow he's not slow but he looks no he's Justin: fast he's not quick Jake: Good, how's that? But he just looks slow. He's fast, he's not quick. I'm sure he could literally run the field before I could get to half what, midfield. Yeah, definitely. I bet on that. I know he's fast. I bet on that. But you know what I'm saying? He looks slow. I don't know if it's just because he's a big guy. I don't know if it's just because he's got long legs. Like, they aren't sprawls. looks faster because his little legs go down the field. He's certainly quicker. He's probably faster too. Also Brad Smith doesn't have breakaway speed. He has, his style of running is really to wait for the good blocks and he's really watching and that's good. Some players just go fast. He watches and waits for it and you'll see he will back up again and he'll go, even some of them, he'll reverse more times than normal because he knows that if you just get the right block he Anyway, Brad Smith, Brad Smith. Night and play what else who else you gonna pick don't know. Yeah, anybody. That's all alright. I don't think we have any injuries Justin: No, we had guys coming back. I mean what he played he played so that was good wait, okay Fine. Yeah, whatever if you don't hear his name called and he played well I don't know. Couple injuries on defense. We're missing a couple defensive backs, Lowry and Cole. That's why you're seeing McKnight on special teams because Cole is out at 34. So you're seeing 25 running down the field instead of 34. I'm liking seeing that.
00 Justin: Hey, whatever. But I think they said, they being the Jets, that Lowry will likely be back for next game, which... Will need because they spread they being the pads spread the ball around a lot a lot They go five wide a lot Jake: So I mean I just the name of the game is gonna be stop wood head. No Not stop wood head. I swear to God that guy's gonna light us up. It's not wood head. It's they Justin: There's no one guy to clue in on. I don't know who Reavis is going to cover in that game. Tate? No. No, I would put... We'll talk about this in our next week because we have to have something to talk about next week. But I think I'd throw him on Dion Branch or maybe Aaron Hernandez or something. I took some of them off, I took them already on a branch. Jake: Let them go for a while, Kurt. White West Walker. covers Walker. So other games, those two other games? Did you watch it? They were. Justin: I watched both. I watched the New England game. I did not watch the game. I sat in front of the television stuff in my face and watched football all stinking day. So you're one of those families that doesn't sit at the table? They literally can't have a table. Oh, they sit at the table. Oh. I eat as fast as I can like and then go back and forth. Okay, so you actually did sit, you sat at the table for a little bit. Mm-hmm. of the Cowboys. Jake: game. Your parents are pretty patient. Yeah. Yeah. So we timed it well. We watched the first game and then left to go to dinner, got there just the second game was starting but at that point I wasn't really interested in it because I was getting ready for the third game and so I didn't watch the game was probably the best game of the day. Really. Justin: Yeah, it started out, well, we'll start with the AFC game, the Pats. I mean, there was a good first half. I think I was right. I think my picks were really close on this one. No. Good first half. There was a very good first half going on. Jake: I picked 40 to 24. Yeah, well done. What was the score? Justin: I don't know. 40, something to 20, something. Yeah, that's pretty good. Good first half. Yeah. Detroit hung in there with them, but then Brady took over. Brady had a perfect passer rating in this game. Jake: It was 45-24. I picked 40-24. Justin: Yeah, you were off. I just don't like it when I'm right. No, I hate it. But, you know, the Pats took care of business in the second half. They came out and they were like, alright, enough of this shit. And kudos to them because they had to travel. They had the short week They had it actually done on the Jets they actually had the traffic I had to travel to Detroit and play Which gets rid of a whole day for that I think Detroit's better than Cincinnati. I have the feeling I think Detroit is more than Detroit If they played on a neutral field Well, probably Detroit would do this If they played in Detroit, I think they'd win Jake: Clearly because we didn't destroy Detroit we almost paused Almost Justin: Alright! And then the Saints game?
00 Justin: That was a good game. Saints got out to a crazy lead, like 17-nothing in the first quarter. Yeah. And it looked like, oh, Dallas stinks. They're fumbling the ball over the place. They're getting rid of the, you know, they're throwing in completions. They're freaking terrible. This game is going to suck. Boring, whatever. And then they came back. They made it a game. And Dallas actually lost the game at the end, as opposed to doing a winning. Dallas has the ball. They're up four points. Yeah, and There's like I don't know three and a half four minutes left in the game. Yeah, and It's there down and kitten throws a nice slant to Roy Williams who takes it 30, 40 yards down the field down to like the New Orleans 20. So they're going to go up by more than a year. They're going to go up at least seven, but at the end get stripped from behind, fumble, New Orleans recovers, and you clearly didn't watch the New Orsi any higher. And that lost them the game. I mean, they were up four. They they and then they drove down and New Orleans went right down the field score to touchdown starting at the two Starting at like their 10 or 20 Wow went right down the field scored touchdown Dallas gets the ball back Drives down the field gets stalled at around their their knowing the New Orleans, Orleans like 42 yeah, and it's fourth and ten and they decide instead of trying to go for fourth and ten, they'll go for the 59-yard field goal. No good. Tried to tie it. No good. Missed wide left or wherever. Yeah. And game over. So Dallas had this game in hand just to really just another... Was he still loading? Please tell me. No! He was trying to hold on to that ball and... I mean, in reality, you should have felt that there were guys behind them and just gone down. No, he wasn't no out of bounds. He's in the middle of the field. Just go down. Just fall. Because why... At the worst right there, you're going up seven at the worst. Because you're all the way down there and you could run some time off the clock. I mean he was not gonna score a touchdown. He knew the guys were catching him You can see him like switch the ball into their hand at some point. He really should have just fallen but uh Dallas blows the game again Wow Jake: Dallas that was the game. So now we have to go to our we have a tweet. We have a question. Oh good Justin: Let's see, let's see, let's see. I have a bunch of these, so I'm just gonna, I'm gonna pick one. Oh, one of them was from you. That one doesn't count. You sure? Yeah, that one doesn't count. You know, a lot of tweets just making statements. Yeah, absolutely. Someone asks if... If there's a chance of a filler podcast in the middle of next week, absolutely, we will record a podcast next week. Jake: Oh yeah, probably Thursday. Actually, I just put it on your calendar. Oh, thank you.
00 Jake: Probably Thursday. We are actually going to be... So we'll probably do just... Yeah, we'll do Thursday, so we'll cover what happened in this Sunday. We'll talk about the Monday night game. and then we'll do a podcast after. like that following week sometimes. So yeah, there'll be a filler game. We'll talk about, we have a lot to talk about that game. So if I want to get closer to the game so we can hear about all the stuff. Justin: There will be a podcast. So, let's move on to the Jet Kingdom pickup. All right. How did you do yesterday? We both got one right yesterday. Just New England. Just, no, you got that one right. I got the Jets right. You... Listen out there. Jake picks against the Jets. Jake: No, no, no. I don't pick against the Jets to win. I pick against the Jets when the Jets haven't covered in like five games in a row. Justin: This is bullshit. You don't pick against the Jets anything. Nine points? I don't care. Oh, I picked in the win, but nine points? Jets are in the Super Bowl. They're favored by nine. You're gonna bet against them? No. It's not Super Bowl. It's Thursday night. Football. Anyway, JakePickedAgainstTheJets, give him shit for that everybody. At Just Hit Kingdom. Tweet him, say, you're a jerk off. Alright, let's go. JakeKingdom... Pickle. Jake: So just for those of you new to the podcast, we've got seeing lots of numbers coming in, so there might be someone who's new. We every week we pick the jet came and pick them which is every game with the spread and then we have a Check the throne picks which is just the AFC East so we've already done half of that last Monday Now we're gonna do the other half today, right? So it's up to Justin not to mention AFC East games. Let me reach this list always fun. All right, let's start off with Justin: a great game, maybe the game of the week. Atlanta hosts Green Bay in an NFC battle. Atlanta's very good at home. They're giving two points to Green Bay, which means Vegas sort of likes Green Bay in this game. I'm going to take Atlanta at home. They are really good at home. Jake: Yeah, I landed home. No question. Two points, you know, that's close enough so I don't... I think if it were trending up there, four, five, six points, I think I'd go with Green Bay, but Justin: I think Alana will win this game. All right, moving on. We have Cleveland and Jake Deloam hosting Carolina and somebody named St. Pierre. This is a battle with quarterbacks, obviously. Cleveland is giving 10 and a half. Yeah, biggest line of the week. Big line, and you know what? I'm gonna take them. I think they're gonna cream Carolina. They are like the best three and 17 round there. Jake: Oh, I was about to say, because Buffalo's the best two. Justin: They're the best three and 17 out there, so I'm gonna take Cleveland and give the points to Brian St. Pierre. If that's his name
00 Jake: Yeah, I don't know it's a tough one. I think I have Cleveland pick. I'll stick I'll stick with Cleveland the lines coming down It was often 11 now 10 and a half. So yeah off cuz occult McCoy not knowing what was gonna happen there So when he get hurt or they just sit days in a boot Oh, that's right. He got stepped on something last week. Alright, yeah, I'm gonna take Cleveland. I'll take Cleveland in the points. Alright. Or cover the points. We'll see if they do it at home. Another big game. These are some good games this week. We have the Giants. This will probably be what everybody out there is watching because it's your choice to watch. Your only choice. At one o'clock. Yeah, one o'clock on Sunday. This is it. for New York local. Justin: New York Giants hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is a big game because both teams are 6-4 fighting for their playoff lives. And, you know, pretty much if you lose this game your chances are diminished greatly of making the playoffs for both teams. The Giants are giving seven. I'm gonna take them points and Jacksonville even though they're sort of an enigma and not really sure what to think of Jacksonville even though they are six and four the Giants don't have anybody to throw the ball to Derek Hagan who's going to be starting for them. How's Jacksonville defense? They can stop the run from what I understand but not great at past defense but I don't know there's no one really to throw the ball for the Giants the Giants have also made a move in their backfield they're starting Jacobs this week right because of the drops just the the fumbles from Bradshaw by the way Bradshaw is better than Jacobs he just needs to learn the Tiki Barbara thing no not even that he runs too hard he tries for every extra inch that's the Peters and it's like just fall. Right. We'll get that yard the next time. But anyway, I'm gonna take the seven. I'm taking Jacksonville. I'll take Jacksonville. Who do you think is gonna win? Will you take the points and do you think he's gonna win? Jake: I don't know who's gonna win this game. It's a very, very tight game. Giants just, here's the weird thing. Justin: Giants have not been playing well at home this year. They're not that good. I got news for you. Well then I'm gonna take the Jacksonville. I'm sticking with my eight and eight when I predicted it before the year. So you took two more wins. And it looked bad at six and two. And two more wins. And the Giants are the best team in the league. but now it's not looking too bad. All right, next game, Washington hosts Minnesota minus Chile. And I think this is a Minnesota victory here. Minnesota is getting two points from Washington. Washington's not very good. Obviously, there is Minnesota, but I think they have the tools. They just didn't want to play for Chile anymore. So I imagine that they'll come out pretty fired up. So I'm gonna take Minnesota. Jake: Yeah, the first disagreement, Washington at home. I'm gonna take that. I don't think Minnesota's got enough to actually stand up and play. I think, I think Favre's done mentally, physically, everything. I don't think losing Chili's gonna,
01 Jake: unlike what happened with the Giants, or the Cowboys, I don't think they're gonna rally. I think they're like, whatever. Now I really have nothing to play for. We were watching a press conference the other day and it was Brett Barr was coming up and we were like, I think he's going to retire. No, not at all. I didn't say that. I think they lose. I think Washington wins this game. I did not say that. And again, all I have to do is have some sort of controversy about Brett, about McNabb and he'll come up firing. All right. He usually plays well in the November and December timeframe too, McNabb, generally. If he's playing, if he's not hurt. Justin: Alright, so moving on to a big AFC battle. Houston hosts Tennessee and Rusty Smith making his first career NFL start. Houston's giving six and a half Big division game. I think Houston takes care of business at home after two awful losses I'll take Houston. Yeah, I'll take Houston. No question. I just can't trust rusty Smith. No And is that like a porn star or something? jumbo. Yeah seriously. Alright moving on. Two teams here that don't win on the road but when at home Kansas City goes to Seattle, Kansas City giving one and a half which I don't really get to Seattle at home so I'm gonna take Seattle. Both teams play really well at home. Yeah I'm gonna take the home team. I'll take Seattle at home. Jake: getting November, it'll be rainy, it'll be cold. I don't think, Casey's playing well okay, but they're not, I don't think they're a go-to Seattle and beat up on Seattle Seahawks, but Seahawks are just completely up and down team. Like, they'll go and they'll beat a good team and they'll lose to a crappy team and not even score points. So, but I'll take Seattle at home. Justin: Philly heads to Chicago. And you know, battle of two seven and three teams. Philly giving three and a half on the road, which is pretty disrespectful to Chicago. You know, Chicago home getting three and a half, they're seven and three. I think that's a perfectly good line. I think it's fine. I'll take Philly. Jake: Yeah, I'll take Philly to win this game. Justin: I mean, they're playing really well right now and Chicago is just, I think, just an average team with a good record. Alright, moving right along, we have Denver at home taking on St. Louis, who doesn't play very well on the road, but Denver doesn't play very well. Period end of sentence. End of sentence. So I'm going to take the four points and St. Louis. Jake: Oh, another disagreement. I'll take Denver at home. Yeah, they generally play better at home. They've got their ass handed to them. You know, on, what is it, Sunday night or Monday night? Monday night, I understand. Monday night and I think they'll rally for a win here and they'll cover the spread. There's a good game coming up. Justin: Baltimore is home to Tampa. It's a very good game. Probably low scoring, I bet. Baltimore is giving seven and a half and I think that's too many.
02 Justin: So I'm going to take Tampa. Jake: Yep, way too many. Or three or four too many. So I'll take Tampa. They can speak out a win. Low scoring. It's a quick end win. Justin: It sure can. Moving on to a prime time matchup. Indy hosts San Diego. Not liking the prime times this week. This is a good one. Other than the Jads. This one really? Jake: Indy and San Diego. First of all. It's a really good matchup. All I want to hear about is how great, you know, frickin' Chargers and... Philip Rivers is his great quarterback. You know what? Win some games that matter before you start calling this guy a great quarterback. I know he throws a lot of balls, but it's like your team's five and five. Justin: This is a big game. Indy six and four, San Diego five and five. San Diego can go five and seven and still win that division. Five and seven? Five and six, whatever it is. They can win that division still from that position. Indy, if they go six and five... they're in a tight spot there. I mean they have to win their division to get into the playoffs, both of these teams do, and Indy's got a harder route to get there. Because if you look at the AFC, there's the two teams in the East, the Jets in the Pats, there's two teams in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, which essentially leaves one team from either of the other divisions, the division winner, and I think Indy's in the tougher division and only six and four, Jacksonville six and four, Tennessee's five and five, even though there's Rusty Smith. It's an interesting Jake: position for Indy I think this year and it'll be interesting to see how they do it because Indy traditionally is a team that comes out ten wins in a row, strong, and then towards December... They basically don't have anything to play with. This happened year in and year out. Now it's in a position that they're not the leader anymore. They're hurting in some plays, some key plays, or key players. And they're going to need to really win games in December. And they are all going to matter. Can Indy do that? Because Indy doesn't do that. Indy comes out, gets 10 wins, and then kind of gets to the point where, okay let's just rest and get ready for the playoffs I'll put it out there right now. If Indy does it and goes powerful into December and wins games and gets the playoffs, I think they can be dangerous. Because I think they're a team that, like, this will be a good ramp for them, as opposed to the sort of, like, end of the season and let's not even play, and then they go in the playoffs. I think I think they're you're going out on a limb and saying indie can be a tough team in the playoffs I'm going to go out there. Yeah, wait a little team that says six and four team. That's what I'm saying All right, so they give the playoffs. I think they can use anyway Justin: I don't bet on Peyton Manning at home off a loss in prime time care if he's given three. I'm taking Jake: Definitely. Even though San Diego plays them tough all the time. But San Diego's a bad travel team. They don't play well on the road. They're still gonna win that division. It's fine, but they're gonna lose this game.
02 Justin: And the worst Monday night game in the history of Monday night games. Jake: You know what they're actually gonna do? I just heard... They're just gonna black this out. No, no, no. I heard this today what they're gonna do for this game. They're instead of actually playing this game because no one watch it if they just played the game They're gonna spend me the three and a half hours that the game is on talking about next week's Monday night Ah, so you're just gonna sit there and hire talk on time 92 jets against the 92. Well, you got a San Francisco heading to Arizona. Oh Justin: Big time matchup Whoo! San Francisco's favorite again. I don't know why they keep getting favored. San Francisco just keeps losing. They're terrible. They got shut out last week. I don't understand why they're the favorite on the road. I'm taking Arizona at home, getting a point. Yeah. I don't understand the San Francisco thing. They're always favored. Jake: Because I think they were favorite from this year. It's supposed to be a gear for them. Yeah, but they're terrible Yeah, well their favorite. I'll take Arizona as well at home as terrible as they are it Justin: I think they're three and seven they could probably still win their division They probably could I mean that division is really bad. So Jake: Alright, so let's get to some those are our jet Kingdom pickums. Now. Let's pick our throne picks Justin: Let's review yesterday. Yeah, let's do it. So yesterday, let's review yesterday. Don't get angry. I had New England winning and I had the Jets winning. Jake: What did you pick for this course? Justin: New England winning 24-21. It was not that close. No, it was close. Jake: And the Jets winning 30-23. So not as close as me. So I went 40-24, almost nailed that exactly. And I went 33-13, so I got closer there. Justin: Yeah, but what's embarrassing for you is that you picked 33-13 in your throne picks, but then in the jet kingdom pick them, you actually picked the Bengals. That is embarrassing. Where you said, oh, the jets are going to win by 20 and the spread's 9.5. I'll pick Cincy. That's pretty embarrassing. Anyway, moving right along! Listen, I'll do that every week. If we can win by 20, I'll be there. If that's the formula, that's the formula. All right, so Miami heads to Oakland. They go across this fine country of ours to face the Oakland Raiders. And Tyler Thigpen is still their quarterback, yeah! This is off. The line is off? So is that because we don't know who Oakland's quarterback's gonna be? Is that what's with this? Jake: I think this is, I think this is, they don't know on the, on the Ben Marshall. Is that really gonna impact this line? Justin: Um, well that's through the guy. Whatever. Oakland's winning this game. Miami's so hurt. They're not even good. Jake: Oakland's winning 20 to 9. Wow. Three field goals. I actually think Miami's gonna win this game. Why? Because Miami plays well Well because what I see there is that they still have some things to do. Well, they still have a young They won't listen and I will explain young man It's just hard to look at your pink shirt Why don't you turn your phone off while we're doing a podcast? My phone is off. I hear it
05 Jake: I hear people at home here. Well, why don't they listen talk me about the Tell me what you see in this dolphins. Okay, so the dolphins and again everybody knows dolphin wife So I end up watching more dolphin games than I probably want to and I was there Whatever last week on the Thursday night game They've had some time to think about it. They got shut out. They're gonna be angry. They play better on the road. They still have some good pass rushers. I mean, Cameron Wake is a little monster. He's a monster. Justin: He's a big monster. Yeah. I think he's a little monster. Jake: And this is a team that like, their problem, a lot of their problem is just getting away from who they are. You're a Wildcat running team. I know you think because you got Henny and oh, but he's like You're not that team anymore. You're not the team who's gonna sling the ball around with Brandon Marshall in games You're still the Wildcat. We have two Above average runners who can make a difference. Let's not put the word above before that word average Ronnie Brown and Ricky Whimps are not above average. No, not above average Justin: No, I think they're right about average. Jake: Not even like 51%? No, 50. They're a C, not a C+. C. I mean, just look at what they've done. They haven't done shit. I think they have a chance to do stuff. They play better than the rest. These are my reasons. They have a young defense. They have a good corner on one side. I think they can make some plays. I think this is going to be a close game. I think Oakland, I don't know, I don't really believe in Oakland. I know they've won some... good games but I don't believe in them I still don't believe in them like one of those teams that like no so you believe in the dolphins more Justin: on the road in Oakland yeah 17th 1713 all right so yourself yeah lose that one yeah and then Pittsburgh heads to Buffalo yep Pittsburgh is what are they are they seven and three There's seven and three in Buffalo, two and eight. Best two and eight team in the league for sure. Coming up a huge win from last week. Do we have a big win? Yep. Two in a row? Yep. And I think this is where the road ends for that streak, although I think it'll be close. I think Pittsburgh will eke it out. 23-20. Jake: I agree. I think Pittsburgh's gonna win. I think they're gonna eke it out. I think it'll be 28-24. work. Buffalo, Buffalo plays people close. They don't, other than us, that we blew them out. That was early. They're getting better. They had already played New England and kept it close. They played a couple close games. But yeah, I think they'll keep it close. Twenty-four. Alrighty. Well, that wraps it up. That was it. That was it. So agenda wise, you got a podcast coming up next week. We got a big game the week after. Until then, you want to stay in touch with us always. JetKingdom.com. 48:02 Jake: iTunes good iTunes type in whatever we have a new we had a nice review on iTunes. We did Yeah, we've got another one. Please. We love those reviews. I tweeted that. Please set a review on that from Matt. Nope Justin: Matt said he tried to Matt From the message board. Yeah, non-twitter said that he he tried to submit one, but he might have been a little drunk Jake: Okay, so might not have gotten now this old so it was not there Subscribe in iTunes the best way to Keep in contact until next week and as always, Go Jets!
