09 Justin: The best place to be is when expectations are high. Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Get away! Jake: Welcome to JKNOBODGEST. Longest Running Year Jets podcast on the planned earth Might be in the universe. My name is Jake and that other voice is Justin. Who me? We are the podcasters that have podcast it for over 175. You're the podcaster. I'm the broadcaster. That is Uh, we apologize. It's my fault. It's Justin's fault. Listen, sometimes work gets in the way. Sorry. Yeah. So we were supposed to have our Monday celebration. Celebrate, celebrate, drop the bomb on me podcast. We were gonna drop bombs. It was gonna be great. Um, we didn't do that. Whatever, they just get a better podcast on Wednesday. You get a double double. So we'll get a double dose. So our agenda for today will be, we will do a first half of celebrating, then we'll get into the news, we'll talk about our playoff chances, we'll talk about the Jet Kingdom fantasy league, we'll talk about the pick'em. What's going on in that fantasy league? We'll make some picks for the week, we'll make our AFCs. AFC East throne picks and we'll talk about Jets versus Titans and I picked our keys the castle pick this pick the game and then call today First up. Let's talk about the Jets versus the Jags Wow, that was a barn burner. It really was you know what the Jets did Play it from aside from winning. Yep The Jets played 2009, 2010, New York Jets football. Limit the quarterback, run the ball, play Great D. Gotta hand it to Tony Sperano. And I haven't done that once this whole year. Sorry, but he realized... More even in the second half than in the first half. It's like I don't have no Chad how to win I don't have I don't have tight tits. I don't have that. It's I don't have Brandon Marshall. I Don't even have Dustin Keller. I'm throwing the ball to the likes of Marty Gilead Marty I never heard of him. We watch this game together at your place. That's true. And there's number 16 running around at wide receiver. Marty Gileard! And I'm like, who's that dude? And you're like, that's not Clyde Gates? I'm like, no! Clyde Gates, unfortunately, is injured and away in this game. Who the fuck is that dude? And it's Marty Gileard apparently.
02 Jake: Apparently it's Marty Gileard. Marty Gileard. Who was targeted three times in this game. I mean... Marty I love that. It's Marty m-a-r-d-y. That's how I'd spell it Marty Marty go here Yeah, I mean if you look at our receiving core again, I This is the thing I'm gonna say about the Jets if you want to slam the Jets you want to whatever you want to say that Everybody should be fired You need to at least go through and give and figure out what percentage of the Jets not winning the season is due to Our receiving core being Chaz Shillins, Marty Gileard Throw Jeremy Curly in there. Jeremy, I mean, I know you're making fun of people, but he's legitimate. He is not legitimate. He is legitimate. On any other team, he's the guy that- On every team, he's a number three slot receiver That's what he is. At best. No, that's- he's legit. He's a legitimate player in the NFL. On the paths they would not play him some weeks. They'd be like, yeah, you sit for this week. The Pats happen to be flush. But on most teams, he is a legitimate slot receiving option. The Pats happen to have Wes Welker. Yeah, and just an element. Julian. But he's injured for the season. But even still, Jeremy Curley, I believe, is an absolutely legitimate NFL receiver. That's the only one, though. Chaz Shones is not. Nobody was knocking on Chaz Shones door when he was a free agent this year after his four seasons with Oakland as a seventh round pick. Nobody was knocking down the door to get him. Nobody was knocking on Marty Dillard's door. He was on the street. Clyde Gates was cut by the Dolphins who need receivers. Do you know what's funny? When you're starting cornerback. He had a catch. Has more catches than your number two draft pick wide receiver. He wasn't a second rounder. Give him some years. Oh, I agree. I mean, he's not. We have no idea. But he fucked us. Because that game he came out, he scored three touchdowns. He didn't fuck us. He fucked us because I didn't think- No, he fucked you. He fucked me and my bet. You. And not your bet. and your, your ability to like Cuz I'm a fan. Just think rationally that this kid's not that good. I don't think rationally. I'm a fan. Fans don't think rationally. So you're a podcaster, I'm a broadcaster, and I'm telling you he has all the tools in the world. You're a sucky fan. All he needs is some coaching and some time and unfortunately he keeps getting hurt. Alright, let's talk more about this game. So, let's do the magic number. I love the magic number this week. So Sanchez goes 12 of 19. Which is precisely what he would do when we would win games his rookie and second year. He'd go 12 of 19 for 111 yards. No interceptions. And that's all you ask, right? That's fine. So we have 12 completions and we ran the ball 42 times. 42 times. That's awesome.
00 Jake: That is Jets football when we were going to AFC Championship games. You know what that is? that's 54. That's a victory. On the other side of the ball, we had Chad Henny, who we used to see and play against when he was at a... Made him look worse than I think we've ever made him look, because he had some games, I remember, for the Dolphins, where he actually would make us look kind of mad. I think he beat us once or twice. He's definitely beating us as the Dolphins started quarterback. Yeah. Absolutely- Absolutely. But Blau Powell, Sean Green, big guys up front. You know, there was only one slip from the big guys where Babin beat Ferguson around the corner and sack Sanchez for a fumble. That's the thing. Like, why can't he just get sacked like normal and not fumble the ball? He fumbles. He fumbles a lot. He fumbles a lot. I think he leads the league in fumbles. He leads the league in red zone turnovers. Thanks for watching! This is gonna be my play of the game on the one in like the on the yard on the third down On and what third and long the biggest back the game backed up in your own in your own zone Yeah with a very short amount of time remaining on the clock and what does he do? He nails Jeff Cumberland down the middle for 37 yards on a really nice Play and a really nice throw and a really nice catch by Cumberland and And a lot of the split in the time Powell and Green they had to you're gonna run the ball two times It's literally 19 19 and 20 Russia Pretty well, they both ran one. Well, they can have Because they scored no points. I mean you remember that all these 17 points this abundance of scoring all of a sudden 17 It's crazy. I mean they they scored zero in the first and second quarter, and it was like Mark Sanchez led jets haven't scored in Like eight or nine quarters in a row or something like 19 or something. Yeah, it was something crazy So finally they came out and they started running the ball and running the rock and then they'd come out in these big packages like big motherfucking packages like three tight end. Yeah, packages where you've got, you know, 63 is eligible and two more tight ends out there. Yep. And you're like, okay, they're gonna run the ball and then they'd run it for eight yards. Like, yeah, fuck. Yeah, that's what we're supposed to do. That's what I thought we were gonna be at the beginning of the year. They said they were gonna do this, and then they didn't do it. One of the worst running defense in the league.
02 Jake: And they should do this against everybody. But this is the problem with this- this thing. It's the same thing that the Ravens have when, you know, when they're the defense that can't be- is that- Great defense, run the ball, only works if you can, you first have to have a great defense because if you get down with 21, you can't do it. You can't say three and outs fine. Like you can't say, oh, we'll punt for position. You have to be like, we have to catch up. Problem is we just have someone in our division can lay up a 40 burger on somebody on Monday night. Anybody any given night. I mean drop a five or 49ers they play 49ers this week or next yeah this one Yeah, this week's like this is the pats tough stretch where they play Houston in San Francisco two games back to back in prime time Watch them. Just dismantle. I don't know it's go San Francisco is pretty coming to their house Pretty darn good. Yeah, we'll see pretty darn good if I have to tough to pick apart if I have to bet on a team I'm betting on the Patriots. Oh, well if you said you have to bet straight up this game I'm not betting against the past and if I if I were a fantasy owner I had 49ers D on my bench or on my I'd take them out and put in anybody else because I think that you could have that team get really bad yeah they just they could get torched it's possible Brady can put up points and he's from the Bay Area he's from California he's gonna want to play well so pick your player and you play the game I picked my play I think that that that third down played a Cumberland the throw was was big time and I I want to pick the two-headed running back monster okay as my players of the game Um, even though, I mean, the defense played really well and you can certainly pinpoint a few defensive players that played really, really well. Um, but I'm going to go with the two headed running back monster of Bala green. Bala green. That's funny. Uh, cause Sean Powell, just to
01 Jake: I'm very happy that the Jets are Winning against these shit teams these teams that are basically packed it up who are on their second or third string quarterbacks Yeah, I am you know It's like that double-edged thing and we'll get into it that a I mean, they're a real team. They're not good, but they're real. They're legit. They just played the Colts to the wire. I mean, they're they're a legit team. All right. If, if you say so, I feel like, again, we're It's drastic. and They were the first theory that they dress T. Jackson game. Don't dress Mc-er-roy. Not active. Left-em-off the back that day. The guy who replaced. They said it was because McKnight had migraines. And they were worried they needed another. Running back. No, they're running back. Because they would have only had three running backs dressed. Right. And McKnight would have been the third. So they decided to dress Cleo Bell who I think they just cut. So the guy who replaced Sanchez last week, or two weeks ago, they don't dress him. The guy who wasn't dressed two weeks ago because he wasn't, he couldn't play, too injured to play. Now he's dressed and never sees the field. No. At all. Never. I mean, here's my question of the week for you. Okay. Did it work? Did what work? Did this kick in the pants? Did it... for the team, I think more of a team than anything, but did the kick in the pants, the the the the whatever, did it work? Well they won. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, I also think it was a kick in the pants to the coaching staff to say, hey fuckers, listen to the Jack Kingdom podcast because they're telling you the strategy. How to win go look at the game plan from two years ago and follow it right? But you have to have the players to follow that they have the players to follow that game plan Well the day is higher the only player that they're missing from that game plan is on defense Right names Dorell Reavis. I understand other than that they have this they have the players they have the running backs Combo of Sean Green and Blah-Powell while the two don't equal Adrian Peterson by the slightest They they can run the ball equal Adrian Peterson's left nut. That's what I mean They, but they can run the rock they're powerful They wear you down, and in the second half They're pretty darn hard to bring that Sean Green's a load If he's pounded on you in the first half 12 13 runs in the first half for Sean Green then you mix in Powell who can be a little more elusive, a little more slippery, you can run the ball 40 times. And we've won this. We've won games 17-10
01 Jake: by running for 160 yards. Rex's first year we averaged like 150 a game. Yep, number one rushing team in the league, I think. With Thomas Jones, like there's no difference between what Thomas Jones was then and what Sean Green is now. Oh, it's the line. The line is different. We had more pro-bowers on that line than we have on our line now. It's virtually the same. I mean, it's kind of the same. I mean, Banica at that point, didn't we? Yeah, but he's kind of old. Yeah, but he was kind of still a pro-bowler. Yeah, for one year. I mean, he still ran the ball well the second year. Yeah. Maybe it's a scheme. So uh speaking of the 2009-2010 before that hold on Do you think do you think Malco Roy should have dressed instead of Tebow? I didn't I honestly I didn't care because I don't I don't Rex kind of got ripped for it Yeah, well he got ripped for everything. It doesn't matter what he does He could have started Tebow and had McElroy back him up and sat Sanchez. No, he probably wouldn't have got ripped for that. No, I wouldn't have got ripped for that. No, I think he's making the right choice. As we saw last week with the teams that lost, and we'll talk about this in a second, there is still a legitimate, if not far away, but legitimate chance of making the playoffs. And I am the type of fan, and all you fans who don't like this and who play for draft plays. I'm the fan that when you look back at the last three years, and he's a head coach who looks back the last, now four years, what do you want to say? Do you want to say, I had two great seasons, I got the AFC Championship, I went eight and eighth the next year, then I went six and whatever and got a great draft pick? Or do you want to say, I made the playoffs three out of the first, three out of the four years and never had a losing season? Which one sounds better? Option B. Which is the better team? Option B. I want to be the team that hasn't had a losing season in four years, who's made the playoffs three out of four years. What we do in the playoffs, I don't care. I literally don't care. Great, let's win the Super Bowl. But I think there's something about being a team that is a competitive team year in, year out. that makes you a better team. This whole one up, one down, like one year, you're like hotter and hot, and the next year you're just a piece of shit. That doesn't work out. The teams that make and win the Super Bowl, get to the playoffs a lot. And it's one of those shots, one of the five years they get to the playoffs, that's when they win it. They don't, I don't, I'd love to know, there's some stats, some guy, who's an intern. Go run me the stats. That's of the teams who make the playoffs percentage-wise, what percentage-wise they win the Super Bowl, and of the teams that make it once every whatever, what's their percentage-wise? Because I think the teams that just make it like the Seahawks. Seahawks don't make the playoffs that often. No. Right? Have they ever won a Super Bowl? I don't think so, but they made the Super Bowl within the last 10 years. Yeah, they made it once. So did the Cardinals. Right? Cardinals made it and lost. Right. They lost. You want to be... I want to... I want to be the team that's, I want to be, I hate to say this, but I want to be the Steelers, the Ravens, the Patriots.
01 Jake: I want to be the team that's in the playoffs every year and is either a kick away or a play away from doing it. Because those teams repeat, come back every year. They're better and better. Sometimes they'll have a flub, they'll go down a little bit, but they're right back in your face the next year with another 10-win season in the playoffs. Don't be the Cincinnati Bengals who like get there once and then get shut out. Like, oh wait, that's your 10 years of, you know, or the Browns. Be the team that's in there all the time. That's when you're gonna win a Super Bowl. So speaking of 2009, 2010. What are the Bills who haven't made it since like 2000? They haven't made it since 2000. Dolphins have not, they've not won a playoff game in like 12 years. So awesome. Cowboys and Kick are very similar. Get into the playoffs, you make damage in the playoffs. All right, let's go. Speaking of the 2009, 2010 run game, look who's back. Boomerang Braylon. Is that what you're calling him? That's what I'm calling the name of this podcast. Oh alright. Boomerang Braylon. Yeah he's back. We wanted him last year. We got him now. We got him a year later. Got him a year later. After being cut by CLC Hawks. Two steps slower. And being injured. Injured, put on the waivers. After calling the entire the the people who made management idiots you asked me last week Would we sign him and I said no way that's embarrassing and then they did I actually like this sure I love it. He becomes our best receiver. No, he doesn't yes. He does. He doesn't I don't think he even gets I don't even know If he's healthy. I just think it's good to have him there because Sanchez likes him. Yeah, he likes Sanchez. So it's like stood up for him See only guy in the field on the team now That's not true. Matt's Lawson always stands stands up for Sanchez But Brandon Edwards just being there in practice and like Having a actually having a receiver who has a rapport with your quarterback kind of neat novel idea novel concept If he were able to step on the field, I guess you could say he'd be like I Guess he would be the number one One receiver he hasn't really really played who cares all year. He's in shape He is he is thing. He has fresh legs. I don't think he does fresh legs You couldn't get on the field in Seattle. How deep are they? They got tape, rice... I don't know, a few others? Maybe? Not that deep. Not that deep. He was with 49ers last year? Yeah, and he got cut before the end of the year. So now this is a player that's being cut by teams going into the playoffs. San Francisco last year. Seattle this year, both years, been cut right before the playoffs. Great, so let's cut them and let's make the playoffs. That's a weird thing, isn't it? Right? This guy's been cut twice in two years by teams going into the playoffs. So here's a question.
00 Jake: Isn't that weird? I know this is crazy, and it's just I know it's because it's too much. Chad Johnson. Like, he has nothing left either? No. No. Who else is still out there? You don't want that around. You don't want either of those two near Mark Sanchez. Moss has already picked up. The first thing... The first time... He underthrows or over- It'll be a shit show. We already have a shit show, you don't need more, it needs to calm down and relax. If anything this was, uh, you know, it was a good move for, cause he fits. He's played here before, played well here before, with the quarterback, it just works from a logistical... I'm sure it costs like absolutely nothing. Yeah. Literally, we know. I mean that's why they didn't bring in Burris, who's doing, you know, nothing for the Steelers, but... That's why they didn't bring him in because that didn't work last year. You could say statistically, oh, we had eight touchdowns, but you watch the game. It didn't work. Couldn't get open. Right. He was open. He had one game of three touchdowns. Yeah, well that he was open inside the 10. He couldn't get open beyond 10 yards was the problem with him. Over under. Three receptions for Brown outwards against Titans Three and a half or three three and a half under under I'll take the over You really think so I'll say maybe targets over catches under about I guess targeted five times I think he catches more than he's our number one receiver. So why they're not gonna throw the ball that much They're gonna throw they're not That would be dumb. No, but that, as, okay, if we throw the ball 13 times. Well, they're gonna throw the ball like 18 times. 13 and 20, okay, 18 times. So I'm saying he's targeted five, six times. He catches three balls. Depends if Keller plays. Okay, so anyway, I like the signing. Yes, it's not, it's not that whatever. It's just something familiar. And you know what? It brings back some nice memories. Let's just skip this next thing. Yeah, I don't care. Saints, boo. Saints, players. Not guilty. Well, team's guilty, they're not guilty. Whatever. Svelma's still gonna go after him. You know what I didn't do? I didn't pull up the stand. Let me pull this up real quick. Let's talk about... I'm gonna be the one who has to break this shit down. Yeah, you gotta break this. Break this down. Alright, let's break this down. Let's talk about what are our playoff chances. What are the playoff chances? Well, here are the teams. So... You've got... What I think is a three-team race... You could say it's a four team race, but I think it's a three team race for one spot You could say it's a four team race for two spots, but I don't want to know that that's that team that has to play I think it's absolutely chance that they lose all three. All right, so let's put our wild card bets on the table We have for the wild card. We have the Colts They're 9 and 4. Right. Okay. Have to lose out. They would have to, yeah, lose out. Wait, Texas twice. They're 9 and 4, so they play their upcoming schedule. They go to Houston this week, which I think they'll lose,
01 Jake: because Houston just got embarrassed. Then they go to Kansas City, and Kansas City is really awful. True. I feel like Kansas City doing that thing against the Packers last year, where they beat them. And then they play Houston in the last week of the season, where Houston may not even have to play. It might not even matter it may For like the first seed so they might have to play but it might not I now the other thing about it is if the Colts beat Houston in this game this week. Yeah Well, then that last game could actually mean well then Indies out of our they're out of our strategy We can't catch in there to ten and that last game of the year might actually be for the top of that division So the Colts are in this weird spot where they could either fall either completely out of the playoffs or they can still win their division. So it's an interesting spot to be in for the colt. I think they're out of our reach. I think they're gonna win one of those three games. But not yet. I'm telling you what I think's gonna happen. I think they're gonna lose. I think you're right. They're gonna win one of them. But whatever. They still have a chance of not winning all three. They certainly do. Like they could absolutely lose to Houston twice. Some fluke-y thing could happen in Kansas City. It could be... zero degrees and raining and it could be a really ugly game and it could go the wrong way. Alright, so the other two teams ahead of us are in the AFC North. You know, obviously, at Baltimore at 9 and 4 still at the top of that division and they're faltering. I think they've lost two in a row now. Well, let's just say that they're gonna win that division. The other two teams are seven. And to win. Yeah, we pretty much want them to keep winning. Right. Baltimore just keep winning. We're not if they catch them because we don't want to be in a three way tie between. Well, three way ties, I think, are better for us than two way ties or ties. I guess that would be a tie. But the other two teams. are at seven and six. Mind you, we're six and seven, so we're one game back. Right. So we got the Steelers, who, their three game schedule is at Dallas, Cincinnati at home, keep that one in the back of your mind, and Cleveland at home. Okay. I think they lose in Dallas. Let's talk about Cincy. Let's hold these thoughts. Cincy goes to Philadelphia Thursday night, so tomorrow night. Big game for Cincy. And Philly is kind of dead, but big game for Jets fans. Then there's that Sunday game, that next Sunday at Pittsburgh. And then there's, they close with Baltimore at home. Oof. So we want Baltimore to falter a little, but win, you know, that game. We want them to win out. Why wouldn't we want Baltimore to win out? Well, because then they might not have to play that game. Oh, we want Baltimore to sort of falter and be playing for the like Like further division right or maybe playing for the numbers I don't know how it works out with like denver and new england at the two and the three and Houston like there's a lot
05 Jake: Going on up at the top. We're at the bottom. We have to worry about this stuff. So I think we want to be tied with cincinnati Because I think if we're in a one-way tie with Pittsburgh, that's no good for us because they beat us, right? So we want to be tied with Cincinnati, which means Either way you slice it this week. We want both those teams to lose doesn't matter We want Cincinnati losing tomorrow night at Philly. We want Pittsburgh losing at Dallas NFC East, help us out. We want them to both lose and drop to 7 and 7, and we want to win to get ourselves to 7 and 7 and be in a three-way tie. Following week, those two teams play each other. Good news, bad news. One's got to win. One's going to have to win. But the other has to lose, and we're rooting for Cincinnati. We're on the Cincinnati bandwagon. Because they have the harder last game against Baltimore. Whereas Pittsburgh has the easier last game against Cleveland, who they already lost to, and there's no fucking way at home in the last game of the season that they're going to get. I didn't say the Chargers. I said Cleveland. I know, but the Chargers just went in. But Cleveland already beat them. in. There's no way they're losing twice to Cleveland in one year. Okay. No chance. There was the year that the Bengals beat all every team in the division. There is no chance this Steelers team is losing twice to Cleveland. I don't know. They turned the ball over eight times and had Charlie Badgett quarterback and only lost by six. There's no way they're losing that game. So that's how we want it to play out. We want both teams to lose this week. We want Cincinnati to win week 16's matchup, which will put them at eight and seven and hopefully have us at eight and seven. We keep winning. Remember, we have to win. Yeah, we lose one. We lose one. We're done. And I don't know what it would look like if you had us and Cincinnati I mean I could tell you the conference record We're at four and five, but our next our next two games are against the AFC so we'd be at six and five Cincinnati's already at five and five So they would, if they lost, whatever, and then they beat Pittsburgh, they'd be at six and five. So that's a tie there too. I don't know what the next thing is. Yeah, it's like strength to schedule or something. And we've had the hardest schedule in the league. If you take the last two games out of it. Right. Because up until the last two games, we had the number one hardest schedule in the NFL. And when you play the patch twice in a year, that helps. And we played San Francisco and we played Houston. Is there a possibility that we get... So there is the possibility that we come down to a 9 and 7 tie with the Colts. That possibility exists. We'd have them if it was just a tie between us and them. I think once you bring a third team in, the whole head-to-head thing goes out the window. Okay. I think it just goes down to like conference record and they're six and three and the conference are ready again That would leave them at six and five
00 Jake: So the good news is by Monday night with the kids playing Monday or six and six whatever that we'll at least know If we got one of our one of our things and we'll know well We're really just rooting against Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and again you can root against the Colts. I don't think it's gonna matter You may as well root against them, but I don't think it's gonna matter. Again, if they were to fall the left. My personal take is that they're gonna win one of these three games. But again, if, let's say, if the, if the, if the... If Andrew Luck broke his leg. No, if Pittsburgh wins out, let's say Pittsburgh wins out, I'd rather be than... Pittsburgh wins out than they are 10 and 6. Exactly. And if, the Colts, then it would say Pittsburgh wins out, that puts... that puts Cincy back because they lost one of those games and maybe they lose the other one and it's then 10 and 6 they got the wild the number one wild we're then tied with the Colts and we're the only person tied with the Colts we would then win that match. I would assume Cincy were to lose... What they'd lose one? Two. Two. Two of the three. And they'd go eight and eight. Yeah so again totally possible. Impro... Totally it mathematically and scientifically as possible It's improbable because I think the cults will win one of these three games. Okay. Well, I'm rooting again I know they're playing Houston twice, which is rough, but Kansas City's a cupcake That's like oh, that's like our schedule. It's that all right. It's in Kansas City. That's what I'm saying. That's not a cupcake Yes, it is. No, ah, yes it is They're two and eleven. They almost- They're one and six at home. You can't tell me that that matters. They almost beat the frickin' twelve. I know. They lost. They lost. Like, there's an almost and then there's a what happens. They lost. We almost beat the Patriots. We went to overtime. Then we lost. Yeah. Alright, so the chances- That's the game that screwed us by the way. My whole plan of like running these last five games at the very beginning of the season was predicated on splitting with the pads and that loss Fuck the whole field us Let's talk about so still a shot. We'll no more come a next podcast. We'll have a better picture Hopefully we'll win will if we keep winning will continue to be in it right until the last week, right because Pittsburgh and Cincy one of them's gonna have to lose one of these games so they play each other a tie I think actually hurts us I feel like If they tie which is unlikely it could happen because there's been a tie this year. Yes, it was almost another one I Think that hurts us. So we don't want them to tie we want we need one of those teams to lose- to that game So let's talk about ties Let's talk about the jet kingdom fantasy league. Let's do the jet kingdom fantasy league. What's the standing? What's the scoreboard look like? Uh, I Justin: Oh Oh Jake: My god, if I may look at what's going on here so jets over the punch so this is in the double week This is this we're heading into week two of the first round of the playoffs
00 Jake: I actually want to know how this works because so Jets over the pond in South Beach Homer just over the pond lost 65 to 82. Yeah, that's no good for Jets over the pond mark you better and get some players Casters versus the broadcasters you won by six. Thank you Tom Brady. Thank you Tom lady time I'll ever say that I know it if if not for that. I would have had you yeah That's why I have Tom so now We play another week. Is it just points? If I lose, I'm done. Well, yeah, I'm beating you by six right now. If I win by six points? I have no idea what happens with a tie. If I win by seven points? You win. You sure? Absolutely. So it is just total points? It's cumulative. Yeah. Okay. Cumulative. All right. No clue what happens if you beat me by six. The preview has us at... Right now I'm going in Beating you exactly the same which is really weird. Yes. I haven't adjusted my lineup. Maybe this for this week I'm considering a few things with my lineup. I'm considering using your strategy of Putting in a Jets tight end getting zero points since my tight end got injured again this week and got me zero anyway That'd be too funny and then going with two legit receivers instead of having Jeremy. I mean Conrad Roland has averaged 0.4 points. Yeah, I'm thinking about going with Hayden Smith at tight ends. Has to be active though. He was active. He was active. He was out there blocking. Great. He was doing a great job. Block. I got I got points for those blocks. I mean, someone picked up Brelyn Edwards. I like the Tom Brady against Aaron Rodgers. Did you see that? Someone picked up Braylon-Ed play. Instead of you know Jeremy curly and Brandon Pettigrew got hurt. Maybe I want to just want to throw Hayden Smith in there at tight end Maybe maybe all right. Let's move on to also got some help from Freddie Jackson the always injured Fred Jackson helped me out there. Give me Allow CJ spoiler to get all the keys got all the touches out Let's go ahead of you by a let's go at six. Let's go to the place that you're not ahead of me All right, which is I caught up a little bit pick them. Yeah, I caught up a little bit I'm in third now in the group. Yep. I'm just good. I'm in second. You're in second. You've been past Yeah, I had the worst week ever. Oh, I think I picked like three what happened here weekly performance. Let's simultaneity what happened Jake you in week You had four. Four. Four burger. Four burger. Followed by a f- You had a five burger followed by a four burger. Yeah but the five burger was fine because everybody had a bad week that week. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. That's bad. I'm only five back at you. I- And I just picked up five. I- I can totally come back. Oh yeah.
00 Jake: It's not over until we get to like the Super Bowl. It's not over until it's over. Alright so let's make some- Alright let's do some pics as everybody who's listened to us over the years knows- We pick every game against the spread except for those happening in the AFC East where we'll give you scores and a little further analysis and predictions. Alright, so let's head into this Thursday night game. Another clunk or is this the last Thursday night game? It might be. Thanks, so then we go to Saturday games. I think it is. So we got Cincinnati. in Philly since he's giving for don't care at this point you just heard the whole rant I'm picking every team that I want to win so go Philly getting for it home I'll just take Philly because of the four points not even because of the ending up I feel like they want to play hard to they do and McCoy might be playing again uh he's practicing at least uh r.lanta is hosting the Giants Atlanta's favored by one and a half. Atlanta finally lost another game. I mean, they're the Giants have their number too from last year in the playoffs. I'll take the Giants. I'll take Atlanta. I don't think I think Giants don't have their backup enough against the wall yet to play there tough. I think Atlanta wants a little revenge on this game. Play much better at home. I'll take Atlanta. All right. Green Bay goes to Chicago. The line right now is Green Bay giving three. I think Cutler's gonna start Green Bay giving three green Bay not looking like dominant like Green Bay is right and this is a huge game And you know, I like Chicago so I'm just gonna pick the home team getting three I'll take Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and you're rooting for Rodgers. Here's an off game Cleveland's hosting Washington This is off because of RG 3 He practiced today Said he looked good, felt good, looking like he might play. They're not going to announce anything until they have to. I'm going to take Washington. These are two hot teams, believe it or not. Cleveland and Washington. But I'm going to take Washington, Washington, Washington, assuming RG three is going to play. And if he does, I think they're tough to be. I will take Washington as well. St. Louis is hosting Minnesota St. Louis giving the standard three. I think St. Louis is a better team than Minnesota So I'm gonna pick st. Louis see really yeah, they played the Niners tough twice They just went on the road and beat the Bills I don't think Minnesota has anything but Adrian Peterson and if there's a coach in the league who could figure that out It's Jeff Fisher Huh, I like st. Louis. I'll take Minnesota. This is a this was a huge playoff in by the way Because these two teams, I know we're not really paying much attention to the NFC until maybe we'll do it before the last week in the season, but this is a huge game. So I like the home team. We'll take Minnesota. Okay. We're going to skip the next one, but I'm going to pick it here. Next game's in New Orleans. New Orleans favored by three and a half against Tampa, and Tampa killed their playoff chances last week. They had a good chance, and they blew it against Carolina or something. Totally blew it New Orleans got creamed by the Giants. I will finally agree with you. They are now done
06 Jake: They've been done. I'll say now done Favorite by three and a half. I will take Tampa Norwin's at home. This is a rebound. This is their post post Katrina game. No, this is not Katrina post Tagubu game I think.- I think they get a bounce from that. I think they get a bounce from that. They get the home bounce. Home bounce. They win. By more than three and a half. Yeah. All right. Denver goes to Baltimore. We're still one o'clock. Denver goes to Baltimore. Denver is favored in Baltimore by two and a half. Gosh, I hate. Not even a question. Not a question. You're picking Baltimore. Yeah. Home dog. I'm just not, I'm not, not picking against Baltimore at home. I don't like it but I'm picking Denver. Alright. I'm moving right along. No way. I just, I'm not betting against Peyton Manning at this point. He's so goddamn good. And that defense is really good Denver. Uh, Houston. Oh by the way Baltimore fired their offensive coordinator. Cam Cameron. You can fire your offensive coordinator this late in the season. Note to Woody. Hm. Like you can do that. If the offense sucks, you can fire the coordinator. They're in a playoff push and they fire their offensive coordinator. That's been there for. For four years. Like with Flacco. Like the whole time. Who's got them to the AFC. Championship. Well you got the job right after you got fired from the Dolphins as their head coach. Yeah. I thought he was a decent coordinator. I don't think Flacco is any good. That's that this is where like as an outsider like I can look and say I don't think flak goes any good where most Outsiders of the Jets looking like Sanchez sucks, right? I-I have the same opinion of Joe Flacco, right? He all he does is throw deep right? I just don't think that's your game plan run the ball and throw don't run The that's why you got fired right of Ray rice ran the ball like 12 times. Yeah, that's why you get you run 20 times We get fired. Yeah, Ray. Ray rice stupid. All right. Houston is hosting indie And they're giving eight and a half and it's taking all of them I really just want to pick Houston just so I can just but that's a lot of points Indy's a backdoor cover team. I'm gonna take Indy I think they'll lose but I'll take those points absolutely same reason just right there backdoor cover team There'll be down 14 with two minutes left local driver We don't like to wear a touchdown with three minutes left. Yeah score two score It's gonna happen. All right Let's keep going here. We got Detroit in Arizona. Arizona is the worst team I've ever seen play football. They do not play football. That is not a team that's playing football. This team's worse than a lot of teams that I've ever seen. But they're not playing the game of football. They're doing something else. Just to put in perspective how not good we are. We barely beat this team. We had to pull our starting quarterback. to beat them 7-6. They just lost 58 to nothing. So question for you. I think Seattle kind of was, I think
00 Jake: the Boosh move for them. Again, you beat up a team by 40 something points to zero. They still played like they still were going for it. They were still, it was like, why? Well, going for it's the right thing to do when you're up by that much. much. because you're actually giving them a chance to get off the field without putting up more points. So going forward it's actually the honorable and right thing to do. They were taking shots in the end zone. I think what they were doing there... Well first off, so Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson were not playing. That's true. So the starters were out in the third quarter. So that's fair and honorable. They were showcasing him. to ship him. Hey, Matt Flynn next year? Matt Flynn. Matt Matt Flynn back up, Santa's next year? Someone's gonna need Someone's gonna need a starting quarterback. No, I'm saying. You wanna back up? Mark Sanchez is back up by Matt Flynn next year. No, cause it's another just controversial like he's good enough to start over Mark Sanchez. Brandon Jacobs, Reggie Bush. Sean Green. New York Jets. Three headed monster? New York Jets 2013. Justin: What happened to Ballal Powell? I kind of like Ballal Powell. Jake: Powell. I hate Brandon Jacobs. I hate him. I just want my big mother to slam up me. That's Sean Green. He was not good at that though. Ask any giant fan who they'd rather have running on third and one and they'd tell you Bradshaw. Bradshaw. How about Bush, Powell, and Green. I think it's a little busy, but I think you can do things with Reggie Bush like the way the Saints use Sproles and should have used Bush. All right, let's keep going. So Detroit's only giving six in Arizona. Just give me Detroit I can't take Arizona. They're not serious. They're not a real team. No, they're terrible and everyone should be fired immediately And I think we should stop playing. Yeah, and forget what the quarterback thing is miserable. Here's two miserable teams San Diego's hosting Carolina by the way, we're into the four o'clock. We have a lot of four o'clock games, which is thank goodness Which will spin into a couple of weeks so sin or a couple of games here So San Diego is hosting Carolina San Diego's home giving three both these team won last week I don't know if either of these teams could string to I want to tie I want to call a tie So I'm giving Carolina because I'll take the points I'll take care of it. Caroline's been playing well. I mean, they're kind of just playing a few. They're just bad at winning. Right, but they're doing okay. So I think this is a very close game. As a Cam Newton owner, I was watching him just go crazy, which is unbelievable. Alright, so Pittsburgh goes to Dallas. And Dallas may have their broken fingered receiver. They may not. They named Des Bryant. A lot of injuries happening towards the end of the year here. I got to pick Dallas, right? Can't got a big Dallas. I picked out a point and a half dog at home No respect no respect Oakland is hosting Kansas City and my might be one of the worst games of the week. This is a bad game I'll just pick Oakland. I Don't know give me open God, they really are bad. They're terrible terrible guy. You gotta take Oakland. That's horrible
02 Jake: Alright, so that's it? I mean that's it, cause then the Sunday Night Game is an AFC East game and the Monday Night Game is an AFC East game, so that's it. That's our whole deal. Right there. Let's go. Alright, so let's move it right along. Go ahead, what's the first game here? Let's see. We got Jacksonville in Miami. Jacksonville is getting seven from Miami. Jacksonville and Miami getting seven. So Chad Henney gets to go up against his old team. Yep. And I feel like drafted him, right? They drafted him to be the starting quarterback. They drafted him in the second round. He was going to be the starter. And that just didn't work out. I still think you got it wrong. I think he's actually halfway decent. Um, you always like henny. Yeah, I think he's decent. He wasn't decent yet last week. I don't think he's I don't think he's great. I think he's just average. Matt Moore or Chad Henny? Chad Henny. Matt Moore. Next. Okay. Matt Moore's better quarterback. Ryan Tannehill. Oh Matt Moore. Matt Moore, Chad Henny. Ryan Tannehill wins because he's the one who's starting over both of them. Matt Moore beat us. Badly. Well, we've beaten him too. Let's go. All right. So Jacksonville in Miami, this is ugly. This is really ugly. I think Miami wins, but not by a whole lot. Give it to me. I don't know. 16-13 Miami. Yeah, I think Miami will, you know, coming back, they've... Well, how we do last week? Oh. Oh. Last week, let's see. St. Louis won 15-12. I had that 17-13. You had Buffalo winning. OK, I lost that one. Houston, New England, we both had New England winning. But by a slimmer margin, San Francisco, Miami, we both had San Francisco. Jets, Jacksonville. I was close with that. No, that wasn't that close. I was dead on accurate. I know you nailed the Jets Jacksonville I win not really I nailed the score doesn't matter 17 you only want three of the four I won for the I win the whole thing I win the year I Howard I picked the Jets score 17 how it works. All right, let's go in Seattle Seattle's at Buffalo in Toronto Okay, um, that sounded bad. So one of the worst road teams gets a break by not having to really play a road game. They get to play a neutral side game in Toronto. And Seattle's favored by five. I think Buffalo's done. I like Seattle. I like it 2313. What do you got? I got more of a... I like the 13 on the Buffalo side. I do not like the 23 on the Seattle side. I think they're gonna score more than that. Give me 27-13. Let's go Buffalo to draft quarterback next year. Okay.
07 Jake: TiVo for Spiller straight up straight up do it now Alright, so San Francisco now on Sunday night game of the week goes This is the game of the week goes to New England two weeks in a row New England's in prime time in the game of the week and Two weeks in a row. They're up against these massive Considered very good defense needs. I mean number one number one like division leaders Tops or towards the top of their conferences Good defenses, and I think New England has no problem cutting them up. I mean San Francisco can hang but at a certain point in the game. It's gonna just start to unravel They're gonna lose Like Tom Brady can beat you so many ways. Yup. He can- they can sign people off the street. Yeah. Make them have touchdowns and then cut them the next week. Well, what's Dante, Star Wars? Got hurt in that game and went on the IR. Yeah. And now they signed- And then they just signed Dion Branch back. Dion Branch will have three touchdowns. Yeah, sure. Just put him on your- Whatever. Just throw him on your fantasy team. He's gonna score. And is this the week Gronk comes back? I don't think so. Okay. I think he might still be out, but I'll take New England 34-16. I like the 34 for New England. I actually had it closer and I was thinking, you know what? My issue with this is that the Patriots defense has been playing pretty good. It sort of figures something out. I don't know if it's putting McCordie into safety or whatever, but I was watching the safety all year, but they got the guy from Tampa. Yeah, he's good. Yeah, I'll leave. He's good. I don't know. I know linebackers are good too. They have, they have, watching them on Monday night against Houston, which is a good defense. I mean, a good offense. I was like, wow. Their physical is fucked. Yeah. They'll beat you up. They get to you. On both sides. I think, here's what, here's what I think this comes down to, Bill Belichick. Justin: Ooh, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, Jake: and Colin, and Colin Kaepernick's head. You're a Rook. You're going over to the Patriots. You're going to this thing. They're just gonna get into his head. They're gonna do shit that that guy's never seen in his life before. And that's it. I just don't think they're gonna be able to win. And that option bullshit doesn't work against the past. If this were... I would say this would be closer. This is weird, but if it was Alex Smith. I feel like... They're gonna get in Kaepernick's head. I just think they're going to but that's just my and so they're gonna start beating them up Alright now the game of the century which we haven't even mentioned that we'll be at we are going We will be at this Monday night football extravaganza in Nashville, Tennessee true fans who saw a fly now Sunday morning, we're gonna camp out all day to watch football all day Sunday And there's actually get good games every point all day long the Sunday night game. It's fantastic I don't know how we're gonna be actually be up and watch the night
01 Jake: Well, it's an hour. We're an hour, right? We're now I'm just saying the time zone Well, the time zones back so we have you get less drunk and then other times. Oh, no the game starts earlier Oh, but I'll still be drunk. Okay. I'm thinking like 11. Yeah, maybe on the plane Yeah, we were right New York Jets Getting a point We're getting a point. Did I get that right? Are we favored or we rode? My favorite by far we favored or we are we I miss this This is my fault. I'm sorry. You're a lot of talk. You talk while I get all right. Well, I mean, hey, listen We have to win every one of these games I I honestly Yeah, we're getting a point. Sorry about that. Oh, we're getting yeah getting a point, right? Oh, we're getting a point Yeah, we're getting a point. Oh, I have it. What what do they not see in this fall? What do they not see in? That's respect for us Yeah, I guess you're supposed to be points at home Right, we're supposed to be getting three. No, we're on the road. Yeah, we're getting a point. Tennessee favored by one. Tennessee's supposed to be favored by three. Yes, yes, yes. So we're getting back to two. Yeah. So that's a little respect for us. We can't score, and I'd like to see that change in this game. I do like and I know this is a similar picks. This is a similar scoring. This is a homorism I think our D is getting there. They're getting good. Kamari's been playing great our Freakin safeties are hard-hitting Cromarti's gonna be on What's his face Kenny Britt probably the whole game. Yeah, I imagine doesn't doesn't I? I think 10 is actually decent. Yeah, but they don't I am not a ponder believer Well, that's good cuz we're not playing sorry locker. That's how much we're not we better knockers not bad Yeah, you know, I think if you can Shut second year, right? Yeah drafted last year. Yes started started a few games towards the end You know, I think if you can shut their running game down early they give up on it Right like what Chris Johnson like if you have If you get them to the point where it's like eight rushes for 10 yards, which happens to him, I've seen eight rushes for negative 10 yards. Yeah, sometimes it's eight rushes for 86 yards and it's like, oh, fuck, they're just going to just run and then it's hard to cover them because they do play like a three wide. They don't play with like a fullback. Um, you know, they have, uh, a good rookie receiver, kennel, right? They have nate washington. They have kenny brit. They have guys they could throw the ball to their tight end got hurt so he's out. Jared Cook. Um, but they're decent and they can spread you out. So if they can spread you out and get the running game going, that's tough to cover. But if you can get them to like 8-10 rushes for like 20 yards, which is totally doable to him, just shut him down. Then in. Then we we can shut them down because then you know, okay crow take care of Kenny Britt
01 Jake: The rest of the secondary to take care of the other guys. They do a lot of I receiver screen bullshit They you know, they they do things to help their young quarterback This stadium will be half empty. There'll be more jazz fans. I don't I don't think so really this is one of those games That doesn't fill up. I don't know. I've never been there We're going. We'll be there. What's your Key to the Castle? Because I have one. My Key to the Castle is same old, same old. Which is take the damn plan that we've been talking about, take the thing we've been talking about, take the 2009-2010 game plan and just play this like we've done it before. The same deal. It's what we're good at. It's what we're meant to be. Right. And I think it will work. I think this will be a semi low scoring, like not a high flying game. I think we'll probably score on defense. And I think we're going to, you know, we'll be able to move down the field and run the ball. I want to see a absolutely 100 percent repeat of last week. That's exactly what I want with instead of but no, no, strip sack. What's the key? The key is just to be is to the same plan is the same plan. It's the. I'm going to play a run first defense, we're not going to worry about three and outs, we're going to keep Sanchez under 20, you know, 20 to 25 attempts and that we're going to split it up between the running backs. It's working. Keep T-ball on the sideline. It will work let the defense dictate this game. So that's my key and I think it absolutely could work Score 21 10 just win. All right, your score is very similar. My key is Setting the edge on defense. That's the block. Yeah, so we're not good at Fast running backs who run outside. Nope, and that's what this guy wants to do. He'll start inside, but he wants to Cut and go out. Yep. He wants to bounce everything everywhere So if we can stuff we get stuffed in the back, that's what I mean if we stuff that middle He's gonna just try and run away from it. But if you can set the edge you've got him for a two-yard loss or you've got him for a one-yard loss, or you let him run up the middle for three yards. No big deal. It's when he bounces and runs for 30 down the sideline. That's a big deal. So setting the edge is huge. That's on Calvin Pace. That's on Brian Thomas. That's on Garamacti. That's on the outside linebackers setting that edge and forcing him to get stuffed up in the middle. Or just tackling him on the outside, don't let him get around you. Um, cause I think if you could just shut that run game down in the first quarter, or, you know, in the first half, they'll abandon it. They'll stop. And Lockerl throw 50 passes and that's not a recipe for success for them. That's a recipe for success for us. So I like us winning. I'm having him score 20. It's kinda hopeful. 20 to 13.
01 Jake: Yeah, 21, 20. I feel like they're just gonna... I feel like we're gonna get one on. But again, every single game, the same thing we can say, the same key, which is... It's the mistakes. What loses games? Mistakes. What almost lost this last game? Mistakes. What almost lost the game against Arizona? Mistakes. Let's stop with that crap. Play a solid Jets. Let's give West off like the best three special teams games ever. The history of the Jets. I want them the last three games. I want the best three games. Alright, well we will not be back for Monday Podcast because the game will be played on Monday. That's right. So we'll be back next week. Maybe Tuesday. Maybe not. Maybe Tuesday. Maybe we'll be back next week. The week after that. Sorry kids you're gonna have to listen to every part. Oh, that's a bad week to man. Yeah Well, you're gonna be on vacation. I know maybe I'll like be back on Friday and we can do something Alright, I'll let you know when I'm back cuz that's like you also live above me So you could probably just walk downstairs and we want to do a crappy one on bad speakers Yeah, bad microphone. Alright until then and as we always say we're still in it Still keep going. We will see you down there if you're going down there. Let us know. Tweet us up. We don't have a place to tailgate. So we'll figure out a place, do we? No. Apparently, it's like walking distance from the bar scene. So that's what we understand it to be. So tweet us up at just Jet Kingdom. We'll be down there. We've thrown around, having a great time. Otherwise, as always, until next week. Go Jets! you
