09 Jake: 3, 2, 1, Go! Get ready! Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. The longest running New York Jets podcast ever. My name is Jake. Joining me 333 times in a row. Unbelievable. Very consistently bad. Like the Jets. It's Justin. Sorry. I didn't know why I threw that in there. I was going to say, What the hell, man? I mean, I'm consistent. You're going to go hell on this one. Okay. I could have went worse, but you know. I could have went to, you know, 30 seconds in the league. Worst. Like worstest. We are the worstest. Bestest with the worstest. So we skipped a week. We did. We skipped a week. Yeah. The Jets have skipped a season. I think we need to go back to that one now. The one we skipped. Activators game. All right. We got to go back to Vegas. And we have to talk about what happened there. Because a big happening happened there. Like maybe a whole season saved almost, if you want to think of it from that perspective. Hey, look. If we're going to be shitty and be awful, we and be really we are the worst. We better be the worst and not like fuck it up and get the second pick. Like that would be very jets to like win one game. And you realize it's still a very big possibility. Like we're still right in there in the running to this Raiders game. Yeah, but the Raiders game, we had it. We won it. Like, it was in the bag. It was like, all we had to do was just, I don't know, line up on defense and not send eight guys after the quarterback, and then like, you win that game. And then this sucks, because then we're like, shit. Jackson, you better go win a game. And I still... feel like Jacksonville, yeah, go win a game. But I don't think the Jets are going to win anything, though, unless in that last week of the season, Belichick just decides, like, let's see what the Steedom guy could do. And let's rest everybody, because I don't want that Trevor Lawrence in my division. So I'm going to make it look like maybe I'm seeing what I got for next year with Steedom. And as long as they're out of the playoffs, then. that'll be what he does and we might actually win that game. So yeah, you're right. Jacksonville needs to step up and win something to make that for sure for real for us. But let's go back to this game. And we saw all the things that like we sort of wanted to see. We saw Sam Darnold lead
05 Jake: a fourth quarter comeback. We were losing 24-13 heading into the fourth quarter and we were winning! 28, 24. Like, we went down, we scored a touchdown. We went and converted the two-point immersion. We then went back down and scored another touchdown. Two touchdowns in one fourth quarter? That's like, amazing! That's more than we scored in like three or four games combined. It's true! And then... We give the Raiders the ball back with like 30 seconds literally on their own 39 yard line. And they ran four plays and scored a touchdown. Now that's a little misleading because the first two plays were nothing. And the second two plays were from like the 45 yard line maybe, the Jets 45 or 50. And the first one... If you recall, he, Derek Carr just overthrew his receiver. I can't recall who it was. Nelson Aguilar. Doesn't matter. Thank you, Aguilar. And he was open. We didn't send eight on that play. Aguilar was open. He was wide open. Derek Carter just missed him. So they send aid on the next play. And what do you do? You got a rookie, an undrafted rookie out there against like a top 10 draft pick. And hey, double move bites on it and gets burnt. You shouldn't bite on double move. It's four seconds in the game. But whatever. He's never seen that before. He's a rookie. And yeah, 46 year touchdown. That's the most Jets thing I've ever seen in my life. It is, I mean, I watched that game, as I've kind of watched all the games this year, with just a little bit of, I don't know, non-belief or whatever. I mean, you really don't believe that the team can win any game. And I wasn't worried. I wasn't worried about them winning that game. I just sat there and I'm like, no, I've seen this before. I've seen where the Jets just throw it out. And you know what? Let's go back to the Greg Williams thing, because he's gotten a lot of flack. Right. But actually, the more I've thought about it, I mean, obviously, we owe him we owe Greg. Thank you, Greg Williams. And you can thank you so much. But I think we talk about that because I think that's one of those 5050 plays that if it works, it's like they're everybody's hailing him the next day. If they if they go in and one of those guys gets through and just sex the shit out of car and and the game's over we win. I don't think that's that then they're like, look, what a great play. We fucking pressured him and we just knew he wasn't going to connect and whatever. Or if he throws the ball and any any underthought under throws it and we pick it off and run it back for a touchdown. Like, I just, I think it's very easy. That's one of those just 2020 hindsight plays. And again, I'm not a big fan of his and I think he's led a terrible defense and
02 Jake: But like, I think that's a little bit too much to be like, that's the reason that's the thing is like, yeah, no, I mean, he also has, he has zero talent out there. And it's funny, because when he did it, I set the thinking, God, I feel like I feel like we've had coaches who are that aggressive before I feel like bowls was known as like one of the most pressure is send the guys not situation that situation but i'm saying overall and i totally watch the play and later watch it again and it is like making fun of like. Honestly i think that's something rick's ryan would do he's like not where well it's not. I don't I think it was I think it's something he would do he might do it better you might actually win it you might not try to keep a spy that was one of things that a guy who is spying there is a there is a. I mean this is a statistic it's by the numbers. It was fingers since two thousand six. there were 215 plays that were run in a similar scenario, where it was like a end of game Hail Mary, losing by somewhere between four and eight. So like not a field goal can't tie it. You gotta go for the touchdown under 15 seconds left. And more than like 40 yards to go to get to the touchdown. Like that's it. There's been like 215 of these circumstances since 2006. And zero times has anyone rushed more than six players. OK, but what? Here's the here's the stat. You really need to look at. Wait, but here's the real stat, because that play is also what we call the 33% play, right? That play, let's say the guy is covering, let's say he's double covered down the field, we know what can happen that could that game could have been one another way, which is the guy hauls it down the field. And one of our rookies frickings all over the guy doesn't get beat all over the guy hits them. And it's like pass interference, they set them up with the 10. And it's a quick pass and the game's over, right? game can over on a healthy. That's another way it could have gone. Honestly, I think there's only like one in my opinion. There's only like one way to play that as a defense. You rush three. You have a wall of guys standing. You have 11 guys on defense, right? So you're rushing three. Now you got eight guys in coverage. Good. Let's put four of them. in a line across the 20. And let's put four more in a line across the goal line. No one's scoring. It's not happening. It's impossible. You still get a tiny kill. You can run around everybody. Hail Mary's work for a reason. Hail Mary's very rarely work.
01 Jake: They do work, though. Yeah, but it's rare. And you know, you don't get penalties on them either. Like that's not a thing. I'm not saying I'm not saying it's a good play. I'm not saying I just I just think. I think it's a little bit for the players though to come out after and be like, Come on, dude. Why did you put us in that situation? It's not a good look. Very, very hindsight, though. Listen, they double sack that guy, run it back for a touchdown, you know, scoop and score. And it's like, what a great movie put pressure on him. He he did what no man would ever do. He's daring out of 300. I know, but we lost a weird though. Like I was listening to the radio the next day and Barton Scott was on. Yeah. Well, actually, I wasn't listening to three. I was watching a radio show on television. Yeah. Okay. Makes sense. Whatever. I like, uh, I like some of the guys on ESPN in the morning. Kishan. Actually, Kishan, J. Will, and Zubin in the morning. Anyway, they, so Kishan was talking about, obviously, Ex-Jed has good perspective on football, and they had Bart Scott on as a guest to talk about it. And he was just incensed. He was just like, I played for Rex Ryan. Like, he would never have done that. And he's what you all would think of as the most aggressive, crazy mother effort. Like, and he would, he was straight up, he's like, he would never have called that defense ever. Where you just have no help, cover zero, like zero help, nothing. I mean, come on. I mean, that's these are guys who know football, been around and like, we're we're idiot fans who get emotional about it. But like, you know, Bart Scott sitting there like legit, like I played for this guy for 10 years is the most aggressive motherfucker and he never would have done that ever. That was the most and that's that you just nailed it. I've watched this team very unemotionally this year. This year I have watched them like. Oh, they're really terrible. Oh, they just lost another one. Oh, we only score three points. Week one, I was done. I was like, Oh, this is the worst team in football. Great. I can't wait to watch that be the worst team in football. And then that was that. All right, let's go to the next game. So Oh, good. Next game. I also think a little bit too generous. Wait, wait, let's go back. I need to which was in between you fire you fire this defensive coach great he made one bad play great that defense has looked terrible right but what about the other side of the ball like we had this whole thing we were saying like oh they don't fire a fire in the middle of the season oh this it's like oh my god john's just being inconsistent if you're gonna fire someone for bad performance you cannot fire just the defensive our offense is worse Yeah, I'm always that by the way offense is scored three points in how many games zero points with it shut out I mean and they're literally going oh, it's this one guy. Are you kidding me?
00 Jake: I don't so made that call who made the call to fire him. I don't know That's what I mean who knows right maybe Adam Gates was like hey, we need this guy fired and they're like, okay like maybe I mean Maybe I am. You say that like, moto's not. There's some shit of these guys. Everybody's like, ugh, I can't figure it out. But how about the shutout against Miami? How about that game where you just fire? That's the game you fire the entire staff. But irrespective, irrespective, right? You fire Greg Williams for making that call, where he calls the defense. Okay, fine. But guess who's listening? the head coach and guess who has a time out in his pocket? The head coach and guess who can do whatever they want during the game? The head coach. So like the head coach could have heard that stupid ass call coming in over the goddamn thing that he's you know listening to maybe supposedly and call a time out and be like hold on a minute. Hey Gregy. Come over here, Greg. That ain't no. We're going to lose if we do that. I want to play like a prevent thing here. Can we do that because I'm the head coach and that's what I want to do. I want to play a prevent right now. Prevent. Sure. That's what a real coach does. OK, but if you're going to fire the defensive coordinator for his terribleness, why don't you fire the guy who's gone 7 to 27, 13 to 31, 7 to 36. 10 to 30, 0 to 24, 9 to 35, 3 to 20, and 3 to 40. This team has been destroyed. And we have not put up on the offense, we've looked terrible. So like to fire the defensive coordinator at that point, and not just wipe the house. Again, I just think that's that that shows that literally shows because you can't how bad this team is run because you shouldn't do that if you haven't fired the other side firing them both at that point just but you but you can't look at the offense that's that's on the field right now and give any excuse again after the dolphins it's 024 9 to 35 3 to 20 3 to 40 You're you're even useless here. There's no excuses. It's bullshit. They're terrible. They're terribly run. They have an awful system They don't know how to build players that they they everything's wrong Everything's wrong. Look how many guys players after Gates left Miami are now so much better. And look at former Jets who are playing fairly well elsewhere this year. Like, how is Ryan Tannehill one of the best quarterbacks in the league all of a sudden? Please, please. I mean, like, how is Minka Fitzpatrick out of Miami and like doing great. And Jamal Adams looked like a world beater out there for Seattle. Oh, hey, snacks is out there too. Oh, cool. And oh, Brandon shell, who was our starting right tackle as a turnstile for the last five years is playing starting right tackle for the Seattle Seahawks who are going to go to the playoffs like they had three of our guys out there beating us.
02 Jake: At least one of them they gave up a King's Rams and four I still would take them all Adams. Yeah, you got to take your birds round picks every single day of the week when you're the Jets and you're this bad you got to take the PIX because that one player is not doing anything for you this year and then you got pay them and it ain't happening but is it bad? By the way, we lost 40 to three like you mentioned. We were winning 3-0. We are awesome at first drives. If we could just play like two drive games, like we'll do a drive, you do a drive. And like, we'll see what happens. We might actually win a few or tie a couple. Second game was, you know, no better. It was just it. It does become at halftime. You're just like, oh, am I even watching this game? Like, what is what is even important about this game at this point? Sam, you know, if Sam, if this is a resume builder for Sam, then he is building a very cool resume. He's got three games left. And at this point, I mean, someone posted in some channel we were talking about jazz. And someone was like, Oh, what about a second and a third? I'd be like, I would, I would, I would die. Second and a third for teams, but I would take it in a second. Now. Flip it. Like, let's do it. Like, here's what's gonna happen with Sam Darnold. He's gonna end up on one of two teams, and then he's gonna end up really good. He's going to end up on the Colts. He's going to be coached by Frank Reich, and he's going to be good. Or he's going to end up on the Saints. And he's going to be coached by Sean Payton. He's going to be really good. Those are my predictions. Yeah, those weren't the people in the running. It may be Colts. I don't care who they are. I'm just telling you. The Colts need a quarterback. Because the Colts don't have a quarterback after this year. Um, Phil Rivers' contract is over, Jacoby Brissett's contract's over. So like that might be an interesting landing spot. Um, interestingly, cause they could have drafted him originally. We traded with him to take away that slot. So yeah, we did. We traded up with them to get him. And then. I just think the Saints are going to need a quarterback real soon and Sean Payton can turn anything with any talent into something decent and I think raw talent wise Sam has it. It's just no coaching around. It's just not, it's not there. So not working here. He's so fricking young and he's not, it's just not going to work here and that sucks. Just sucks. He's not progressing fast enough and at the speed that we've gone. Yeah, he hasn't even progressed since his rookie year. He looked the same as his rookie year. He looks and this sat line for this game, like when you look at it. It's got to be well, even if it's it's OK, but there were three dropped interceptions, three. And one of them was six. And by the way, this sorry, take the first half out. Sure. Take the thing in four yards in the second half.
04 Jake: Alright, so so second first Raiders game, trash fire game against the Seahawks trash fire. Let me let me read you something. Let me read you reading something. Ready? Here are our drives in the second half. Okay? Three plays, negative six yards. Punt. Three plays, negative eight yards. Punt. Three plays. One yard. I don't know what. Punted. Seven plays, 28 yards, end of regulation. That's where we gained our yards in the second half. We had four drives. Three of them went for a total of negative 13 yards. And took up a total of four and a half minutes. So for four and a half minutes, we had the ball in the second half and we went backwards for 16 yards and only punted ball three times at least we didn't turn it over But you're saying that we should not fire the offensive coordinator for that and in the and then that fourth drive We actually gained 28 yards But then the game ended All right, we had the ball for about 8 minutes in the second half total. And mind you, Gino Smith was playing quarterback for the other team for a full quarter. So you had the ball for 8 minutes and we went 20 yards. What the fuck? This happens every week in the second half. Well, again, I like it. You can fire the defense for one play. You find the defensive coordinator for one play, but you can't look at all games. This is this is probably the worst offensive game you've ever seen besides the Miami game. But like and you don't fire the offensive coordinator who, by the way, is the head coach. And this whole this whole like I gave up control, but I still control is like. I just I can't wait whatever day it is whatever the last day and that Monday I Swear, I'm just gonna be I'll be I will be sitting there watching Listening to news. I don't pay attention news and just going I cannot wait. I cannot wait for them to come across the wire Why you wait until Monday Sunday at 4 o 5 p.m. Or if it's I don't know if it's a one o'clock game great if it's a four o'clock Maybe Sunday at 7 30 p.m. You're fucking fired Like here, all right, game didn't even start yet. Here, just go coach, you're fucking fired. So let's talk about being good to be bad or being bad to be good. So three games left. We are one game behind. Head, head, head, head, sorry.
01 Jake: We're really behind. Zero wins, one win, a head behind. And there's a team with two wins. Who is the team with two wins? I don't know. Yeah, I've almost had three. Now one team has two wins. I was looking at the other day. Anyway, the point is we we we need the Jaguar as a winning game. So we need to go. at the at the Jags and we need to know what oh wait here let's see two five. I first played Chicago like. Bengals are two wins. Yeah and they're not going to win again. And a tie so it's two and a half okay so they're we're probably doing a better them. It's the Jags I'm worried about because. You know, they're the Jags. The Jags are totally capable of losing out, obviously my Jags. Now, they're not going to win at Baltimore. That's this coming week. But then they have Chicago at home. Right. That is a very winnable game, especially if Chicago loses this week because they'll be out of it. And then they go to Indianapolis that last week, which also may not matter to Indy. So they might be Westing. They might. Yeah, they have like little rivers. It's kind of old and they're going to make the playoffs. So like you probably want to give him a week. But haven't the Jaguars been not playing Minshew? Like they've been intentionally not starting him and he was hurt. Like that Gardner and Minshew got hurt and then. They played a couple tight games without him. And then they got sort of like started to get blown out by Tennessee this past week. So they put him back in. And now he's going to regain his starting spot. Right? They need a win or they need it's Chicago. It's next weekend. It's not this weekend. They're not beating the Rams. I don't think so. No way. I don't think we're beating the Browns. No, I think it's the Patriots. I think it's the Patriots being like, no chance. No way. It's Belichick being like, can I throw this game to fuck them? And honestly, as a as a perfect end of the season, I would like to have the Jags win two and us win one. I do not want to have an unalright. No, you don't want to be in that club. It's a club, right? It's Brown's and the Lions. And it's not a good club. It's a bad club full of losers. And we're in that club, but like, you don't want to officially be there, you know, I don't want to be with them. We're losers just like them. But like, you know, I'd like to maybe win a game and it'd be cool to like be paths. Like I always good to be paths. Always happy about that. But we'll see what they need to do. I don't think they're going to need to win because I think they're going to be out of the playoffs by then. Like the the yeah, the standings are like the AFC is really, really hard.
01 Jake: You know, they right now you've got You know, you've got in the playoff run, you got Kansas City, you got Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Tennessee. Those are all the division leaders right now, and the worst is Tennessee at nine and four. Then you've got Cleveland at nine and four, India at nine and four, and then the last spot is Miami at eight and five. And then there's Baltimore out on the outside looking in at eight and five Vegas at seven and six and New England at six and seven So New England's got to win out and hope for some people to lose Some good teams in the AFC this year Yeah, I'm hoping I mean because clearly we're not going to playoffs or not even more officially out but I'd actually like to watch some playoff football. I actually love football. I love it when there's one game on and you get to watch the one game and the playoff game or there's two games back to back Saturday night starting at four. There's the four o'clock and then eight o'clock game. Especially the weather we have here in the city. All right, so let's go. Let's talk about well, I guess we talked about, you know, this is the race for Trevor. This weekend, he plays, I looked it up. This will be my first, I think the first full game of college football I've ever watched in my entire life. I've watched it. It's awesome. I've watched maybe halves of bowl games. I've maybe tuned in with like in a bar. There's been 600 games on and I like kind of maybe look at that game over there for a little bit. But I don't think I've ever tuned in and just sat in front and like gone. I'm going to watch this game like I watch a Jets game, right? Which is end to end, beginning to end. I'm going to watch everything. I'm interested. I like I want to see and I'm looking for something. Like when I watch the Jets, I'm looking for us to win. But then I'm also looking for certain players. And I'm like, oh, I want to see that guy play well. And what did he do? And it was that interesting. So it can be really interesting to watch this game and watch Trevor. and just go, okay. And it's hard. I know because every time I've watched it's just it looks so different to me. Like, I don't know, it's just the the speed of the game, the talent, the type of plays they run, everything looks so different. I'm like, what is this weird game? Everything you just said is true, by the way. So like, that's why. I know it's true, because I can see it with my own eyes. So it's hard to for me, it's hard to evaluate someone's talent, because they're not playing at the talent level that they will be. But there are guests guests. That's the thing. I've said this before. I don't think that college football is like on like, I think when you're in foot when you're when you're an NFL you're like on like, you are playing the best of the best. Pretty much there's a whole system to get you up there. And you know, Jett Seahawks, maybe not the best of the best, but you're you're you're lined up against people who are the top of their game and who have beat out thousands and thousands of people to get there. I don't feel it the same way when you're watching college, I feel like sometimes you're watching the best guy lined up against somebody who will be flipping burgers in two years. And so I don't
04 Jake: always yeah, sometimes that's other guys, a good guy. But more often than not, just because of the mass numbers, all if every single player on the if college went and was in the NFL, you'd be like, oh, okay, but they know we know that it's a small percentage. So there's all these other dudes on the field that are just guys like they're just playing football. They're not gonna go to the next level so then then it feels like well How can I evaluate it cuz that corner it was in the NFL wouldn't be five yards off five yards off that white out or? That that pass rusher who's coming for Trevor that he just kind of dodges because it looks like he's you know He's he's dancing. You know that that end might never ever play and another game after the season. So how can I evaluate Trevor for being good if the other guy maybe isn't even the same caliber? That's my issue with color football. I guess the way to think about it is, well, first of all, they are playing a good team. So you have that going right there. They're playing Notre Dame who are the number two ranked team in the whole country this year. So they're playing, you know. And they've already played this year and Trevor did not play in that game and Notre Dame beat them. So, you know, there's that. So Notre Dame, you know, that and then over the last five, ten years, Notre Dame's been pretty consistently decent and has even made a championship game even in the last ten years. With that said though, he is playing against his peers, right? So that's how you're kind of evaluating him is you're saying, OK, these are this is his peer group that he is playing against, and he is either that much better than these guys. So, wow, like he's that much better. I've never seen anyone that much better. Oh, my goodness. He's going to be really good in the pros. It's kind of one of those things. Also, you just want to keep a listen for when you're watching the game, they'll point out this offensive lineman is a senior and is going to probably be drafted in the second round. They'll pop some things in there, but you are watching two big time programs. So. So. You're going to be watching a good game. And the one thing I'll warn you is, since you've never really sat through a full college football game, they're long. They're really long. Like, if you think an NFL game is long, a college football game is much longer. Like, well, what? NFL is three hours, so what's the problem? You're in for probably four and a quarter. Really? Half times a little longer, the clock stops more often. And I don't know, just things are slower. It's interesting, because it's the thing that I've always said that I think would be interesting about college football, because for me, and I'm sure there's fans out there like me, and there might be not. But there's fans who don't give a rat's took us about college, right? They just they like the NFL, and that's what they pay attention to.
00 Jake: even for a fantasy standpoint, it's kind of like, but anyway, so what I'd always love to get me to watch college, the only way to do that is to kind of say that guy. And this is how you're seeing it happen. That guy might be on your team next year. So as a Jets fan, like, Oh, that guy, he could be on my team. Oh, I better watch. Right? Because I want to start looking at it and see if he's real and blah blah. So I always thought it'd be interesting if they held the draft or they had like, they were already set to go to the Jets and then they played another year. So like you would see like Trevor would be he'd be drafted already and then we but he'd know he's going 100% of the jazz but then he'd play a year because then I would be all in on college because I'd watch every game I'd be like, Oh, that running backs coming to us next year, that wide receivers coming to us, I'll watch Clemson State against the University of Wichita, because that guy is our white out next year, or he's the corner that we drafted. I don't know, I always thought that'd be fun, because it would make you like fantasy, you'd want to watch it just for the one player, right? You know, it's coming to you. Right, you know, it soccer kind of works that way, globally. Sorry, soccer. Football, sorry international football. I don't know. This is the general podcast kind of work And it would be interesting if you just cut college out and be like, sorry college You're out Or you just said alright, you're a real league college, but we're able to like draft these guys heading in and then we can have them on the jets now, or we can loan them to you, college, and you can use them for a few seasons. Right. But they're coming to us when we want them. That would be the way they sort of do it. It'd be interesting to see because there's a whole recruiting thing at the college level that... gets really weird, illegal at times. So like, maybe the NFL makes that better. I don't know. I could do it. I just throwing it out there. I know nothing about this. So this is all from a place of ignorance, but there's a whole thing about college players not being paid, right? But there's also a thing of college players not finishing their time. So why don't we just have everybody go out in their junior year, get drafted. Then they get paid their senior year because they're actually part of the near the part of the NFL but they played their senior year in college so i always have to stay the half to finish up the college program but they can get paid cuz i got drafted. Get one more year of experience and and you get paid you wouldn't be. $30 million, but it could be like an NFL salary, which is $400, $500,000. That way they get paid staying in college, they get to finish their career, they know where they're going the next year, and everybody finishes plus they get paid. I just saw college football. Thank you. You're welcome. All right, let's move on. Let's go, let's get some pickums. because we only have a few minutes. All right, so you're sort of half playing this year.
00 Jake: Is that what your excuse is? Well, I'm playing when we podcast. I'm playing when we podcast and I'm not playing when we don't podcast. So you've missed one, two, three, four, five, six weeks. So you're saying we've not podcasted. We have missed that many weeks. Although, are you counting this week? I'm going to pick this. I'm counting the weeks that you have picked. Or you got zeros. Then we didn't podcast that often this year. Okay. Anyway, I have been a very, very tough season. Like... Like to have like 107 to 97 be the the top line at the tough season That means there's some hard lines. There's a lot of moving stuff that being said I'm under because I'm 95. I got the whole darn schedule just terrible I'm six in place and pretty well, I'm not all the way to the playoffs. I could make a comeback, but not looking great for me. Last two weeks, the week before, let's see, two weeks ago was Corbett Jersey girl with eight wins who won the week. And then last week it was same Darnell Jets with 10, which is. awesome in this league and then But leading it off Sam BAM. Thank you, ma'am Pretty much commanding leave with 107 total points over the next one is 102. So doing pretty well Alright, so let's get to the picks this week. Let's make our Throne. Sorry our AFC eat up. Sorry are checking the pick and we pick everything but the AFC East And we wait to see if Justin will mess it up. Sure. Good slate. Um, a Thursday nighter tonight, uh, tomorrow. Wow. Oh, okay. Yeah, by the way, it pissed me off. From Saturdays. That we had a, we had a, we had a four o'clock game and there were like seven other games. It's like, yeah, they actually really liked it. And you're gonna, you're gonna have it again this, this week. We're at four o'clock again, but not. There's only three, four o'clock games and we're one of them. That's great. That's my favorite because then it's not missing anything. But what we also have is we have a lot of football. We have a Thursday night game. We have two Saturdays. So the Saturday started. And then we have a Sunday night and a Monday night. I feel like Pittsburgh hasn't played a normal Sunday afternoon game in like a month and a half. Yeah. By the way, I was like, we were joking about the Super Bowl. What happens if there's a big COVID outbreak, you know, right in one of the teams right before Super Bowl, like would they move it and they'd have to under their own rules. But anyway, really weird. All right, let's go. Let's pick some stuff. Let's do it. We have Las Vegas hosting. the LA Chargers who just had a big time win, kind of like a comeback situation. And Vegas is favored by three and a half. I like the Chargers in three and a half points.
01 Jake: I like Vegas. I'm gonna take Vegas. All right, skipping one Saturday game because it is an AFC East game, which will be a fun one. And moving to the night game on Saturday, which is Green Bay hosting Carolina. Green Bay eight and a half. No Christian McCaffrey again. I like Green Bay. Yeah, I ate and a half is a little bit too much, but I like the home. It's not winter. We're gonna get some snow Who cares if there's no fans Green Bay the tundra? Green Bay winds by 10 All right, here we go Sunday one o'clock Tampa at Atlanta Tampa favored by six. I'll take Tampa. Um, sure. That's my now. Here's how many seconds I've watched of Atlanta. Atlanta football zero. Zero. Here comes an awesome. Awesome historical battle. I don't know how it will turn out this weekend, but historically an amazing matchup. San Francisco at Dallas. San Francisco favored by three. That's a hard game. I'll pick the home team. I'll take Dallas. Yeah, I'll take I'll take Dallas at home. Agreed. Historically though, very good stuff. 90% of the time, add it. As a kid, that was like a really good thing. All right, Tennessee hosting to Trait. Tennessee big time. Derek Henry's really big time. 10 and a half. You know, Tennessee's weird. They can like blow teams out, but they do it on the ground. So it doesn't like doesn't appear that way. You know, like Kansas City, they just toss it around. Hmm. Might have picked Detroit. I want the points. 10. Yeah. I don't like the 10 and a half. I was going to say Detroit. Can you say running thing? It's like you guys run. You don't like. Throw, but then you see Henry just breaks these like 80 yard runs. You're like, Oh, that's like the same thing. I guess, whatever. All right. Indy, uh, playing really well this year hosting Houston favorite by seven. I like Indy. They should blow that team out. I feel like that's when I wish I had a half point here somewhere. So I would go one way or another. I feel like it's, I feel like it's a push, but push either way. It doesn't matter if Houston, cause I think it's a push. All right. Uh, Minnesota is hosting Chicago. Finally won a game. Uh, with Mitch, I'm going to take Minnesota. Pretty much the bitch. Take many three points. All right. Seattle going to Washington. Uh, just saw what Seattle could do.
02 Jake: Um, yeah, that was the worst defense in the league. Did you know that they were like statistically like the 30th burst or 32nd defense in the league. And we could get negative yards in the second half. Okay. Uh, again, don't fire the offensive coordinator after that game. because. Makes no sense. Seattle. Yeah, it's five and a half. It's in this weird. I think Seattle will just beat Washington. I don't even think Alex Smith is playing. I'm not sure. So I'll take Seattle. They're going to beat him with a drum. I'm taking Seattle. All right, Baltimore is hosting Jacksonville. Baltimore favorite by 13 and a half. I'm going to start doing the whole like pick with the heart thing and just pick Jacksonville. I don't like 13 and a half. That's a lot. So I'm going to pick Jacksonville. Wow, we're aligned here. I don't like it. All right. 4 o'clock. Really 17. Yeah, I saw it at 17 and a half actually. Yahoo has it. I saw the hook on there to make it even more. But hey, bet on the jets. No thanks. I'll tease that down to 10 please. All right. Anyway, Arizona is hosting Philly and not Carson Wentz, Jill and Hertz, who came in and they won a game. So now I guess that's it. He benched the quarterback. That's the deal. Carson Wentz. I mean, how many years ago was it that everybody was talking about Carson Wentz as the second coming of Christ? I mean, this dude like it was his second year and they won the Super Bowl. He didn't win it, but he got him there and he got a huge contract and. Oh, is he really that bad? I don't think so. I don't know. I mean, I always he always passed the eye test with me. Like, I always thought he was good. Maybe people have just caught up to this. this Philly offense, like, because Chicago is running the same thing and they're no good. The only one who's like good at this is Andy Reed. That's why I'm pretty strongly against Eric B enemy. Like, guys, Andy. Yeah, like, like, where, where's the Philly offense this year? Like, where's the Chicago offense? Like, where are these teams? Chicago is the second or is the offense in the league behind us? Okay. What am I supposed to think? Like these are these coaches that come out of Andy Reid. Like they're supposed to be these great offensive guys. It's not happening. Anyway, Arizona, I'm gonna take them six and a half. They're gonna be affiliated by more than that. Agreed, agreed, agreed. All right, Kansas City at New Orleans, probably the... Game of the week. It is the only 425 games. So that one's blanketing the country except for us
10 Jake: So actually I think we'll We'll be on CBS and that game will be on Fox I think Yeah, so that should that should blanket the country actually. Anyway, Kansas City at New Orleans, Kansas City, favorite back three is Drew Brees back. Yeah, I don't know. It's a weird line. I'm thinking Kansas City. Me too. All right. New York Giants on Sunday night hosting Cleveland, who just played like one of the games of the year. Probably yeah, it was the end of the year at Cleveland Baltimore game. It's really good Cleveland favored by four. I will take Cleveland I Agree Giants blew it last week They're good at blowing it. Hey really blue Yeah, team at six and seven in first place in your division. Come on, guys. That's like ridiculous. Anyway, last game Monday night, and then we'll get to the east. We have Pittsburgh at Cincy. Two game losing streak for Pittsburgh. Not really scoring. At will like they had been. It's a big line 13 and it's on the road, so I'm going to take Cincinnati. Just home team big line like that. Sincey for me, God, I think we agreed on every single one. Oh, I don't think that's terrible. I'm going to go back and change Olympics. Yeah, you should probably do that. All right, let's do the AFC East. What do we got? We got Buffalo at Denver, right? On Saturday. Great game on Saturday, but it's right. Heads up against my Clemson game. Don't worry about it. Watch the Clemson game. Oh, okay. Watch the Jets. Jets, Jets Junior. I could also record one and watch the other one. I like watching games and not real time when they're not the Jets is the best. Oh, yeah. Actually, that would be the move for the college game is to record the college game and just watch Clemson offense. But I felt on the other side is like the number two pick. I thought the other quarter, the quarterback. The quarterbacks on Ohio State, the other quarterback. So if you want, I mean, that might be the move. Just watch Clemson. Just watch the Clemson offense. The next day in the morning. I like to come here and just turn it on and watch the offense play and see what happens. Yeah, whatever. So Buffalo at Denver, Buffalo's favorite by six and a half. They're really good. They're really good. Why is this not a slaughter, though? I don. Don't understand this game. What is it that it's making? Maybe it's a letdown game, perhaps for Buffalo. They ride and hide. They just be Pittsburgh on prime time. It's a short week for them. Now they're playing on Saturday. They got to go on the road. I see all these factors.
16 Jake: And the line's still six and a half. big, big win against the Steelers and having a letdown here Denver's not a, you have a five and eight team going up against a 10 and three team and it's like a six and a half point. No, this is Vegas. This is betting. This isn't reality. I think, I think Buffalo absolute destroys them 30 to 12. Yeah. I mean, Josh Allen versus drew lock. I mean, come on. All right. New England. goes to Miami. This is why we only have three AFC East games this week. So, Belichick goes down to visit Flores. Teacher visits Pupil. And yeah, Flores looks like the real deal looks like pretty good coach Miami's got got it together, they're eight and five. Like he really turned that team around. They looked like one of the worst teams in the league ever at the start of last season. And to where they are now is kind of amazing. Even integrated the rookie quarterback in there pretty seamlessly. With that said. I feel like Bell check like just will get him. I don't think there's going to be a lot of points in this game. Cam is no good. Well, I mean, it's a very specific offense. He can run it. I think the New England defense wins this game though. I think they win 13-10. Yeah, I believe that this is a... Yeah, I like New England against... I like Bill Belichick against rookie quarterbacks. Yeah, that's it. That's the deal. Yeah. And I think, though, in the matchups, like in the apprentice, you know, I think it's mostly been that the that the apprentice wins or at least the first match-ups. I don't I don't think this is the first matchup. He likes to have one. Yeah. Well, I remember who's the guy who's the Tennessee one? I think the- Oh, for able, but he was not really from the Belgian tree. Yeah, he's a player but he still took him to the house. Like, I don't know. But I feel like this isn't that game. So I think this is a good old fashioned normal just... New England is smarter than Miami.
00 Jake: Coach is smarter and while I don't believe in Cam, he does still have some moves. I don't know. I don't know. They benched him last week, right? So... He said he's going back to them though. He's their guy. Really, Cam? Yeah, but that's like, did you not watch tape of him before you picked him up? I mean, we've known this for years. Like, this is a thing. I know. I mean, he used to be able to throw now is really, really, really like a ball. Like the model, you know, not since the Super Bowl is even good. I say 21 18 New England. All right. And then we have. This game yeah this game four o'clock Game we are going to LA to the Rams I have to imagine that if There were fans allowed this would be a game that we would go to So there were three games that were on my schedule this year to go to. I was going to go to the Chargers, go to the Rams, or go to the, um, or go to Casey. Those are the three games that I was like targeting because I was like, Oh, I've never been to those three stadiums. Obviously I have a friend who owns both Rams and charger season tickets. Um, so I was. because it's kind of like, like, like, like, like, Thank you. If you're looking for silver lining to just like, hey, look at some silver lining on the season. Like this is the good season to be terrible. We're not we're not going in tailgating for five hours, having to sit in the cold and watch the team and having to drive back to three hours of traffic. We're not like we're not traveling to these stadiums to like hope to get a win and then coming out, coming back feeling like crap like. At the very least, like the level of commitment to the key team and because they're terrible because of COVID is very low. So it's like it's kind of good for them to be terrible. Plus, again, I think this whole season is going to have an asterisk next to it. So good suck still matters for the draft. I don't care. next year can't wait to be in the stadium all vaccinated and be watching Trevor throw some balls. So okay, sorry go ahead. How do we pick these guys? We don't. Oh, okay. It's pretty simple. They're really good. They have a really good defense. Their defense is very good and that I mean Is that all you need to know? I mean, what else do you need to know? They have one of the better defenses in the league. What else? We just went, we just scored negative points against the worst defense of the league. So what do you want to know against the best defense in the league? How we beat them, how we score more than three points after we scored three against the worst defense.
04 Jake: I don't know. I mean, we went, I just read you those drives. We went backwards, three straight drives. Here's, here's my prediction. We're going to score some points on the first drive of the game. Probably a field goal. And then we are going to get another field goal at some point that Maybe the kicker, I don't know who the kicker is. I don't know who it is at this point. It might be the same guy. It probably smart to bring that guy back. Let's bring Castillo back. He did. He did right by us. Uh, I think, ah, too bad. Ficken doesn't know the deal. Um, no, he doesn't understand. He's a fan. Uh, so that probably kick another one. So that's the one I are. Okay. No, you have to. Roll Castillo out there again 37 6 rams they're rolling. They're rolling now. They roll on us whatever they want to do They can throw on us that once they get thrown in they're gonna start running all over us then it's all over like they They're really good, and they're peaking at the right time so Since I have to tell you a way for the Jets to win, because I don't pick against my beloved Jets, as I look over here and see all my Jets memorabilia, there's only one way to win this game. First drive, go down, kick a field goal. Fine. Second drive, kick the ball off. They they've ended in the end zone fine come up to the 25 It's a botch snap It's a botch snap and What's the space? Sorry a golf goes to try to get it right fumbles around it's headed towards the end zone He he he's trying to get it Big ass jets defensive guys jump on him, break his leg, grab the ball, go in the end zone. No, sorry, he runs, he snaps back and he falls on it in the end zone. It's a safety. And then he broke his leg. And then that's it. No one scores for the rest of the game. I did it wrong. So do we just win 5-0? Yeah, no, we should have won 5-0 then. I was trying to think how we would give them the two points. I guess, okay, I guess save. I guess save taste. I guess like, maybe like a... I was trying to figure out how to get the quarterback dead, and then get them two points so we could win by one point. That's what I was trying to figure out. Godzilla. No, there's I mean, you know, this is just gonna be a bad game. We're gonna miss field goals. We're going to have something. Who cares if we miss a field ball? We're just gonna have to look bad. I mean, if you're really predicting, I wish to over unders on pick six, the over under being one and a half. Like, I'm going over like I think the way Sam's throwing the ball. So.
00 Jake: and just trying to force it. Yeah, I don't know. I just don't think it's gonna happen. But I think the Jets can win three to two. Good old soccer game. All right, that's it for us. We might or might not be back. We might or might not have another podcast. We might or might not care. But until then, as always, it's Justin, it's Jake. Let's go Jets! you
