09 Jake: 3, 2, 1, go! Go! Go! Go! Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast, the longest running New York Jets podcast. on the planet earth. My name is Jake. Joining me, co-host 279 Times in a row. Justin... Justin: Just me. Jake: Yeah, just Justin. Just me, little, little, little me. All right, we got a big podcast to get to. Not a lot of stuff. To like, not a lot of, you know, flip-flop, me and you, Mac. Maybe Mac. Yeah. All right. Let's talk about the 2017 predictions. This is our, we only have I think two podcasts a year, maybe three, that are kind of like cornerstones. We do one that's kind of a draft, a mid-year review. We do this one, 2017, we do the predictions, and then we do a draft review. So it kind of be like these are like ones we always do. This is kind of one of my favorite ones. So yeah, we're gonna get to it. Here's what we're gonna do today. We are going to go through every game of the New York Jets season, and we're gonna pick. Now I wanna remind people, there are two types of picks when it comes to us and the podcast. Right. Generally, and we'll see if I stick to it this year, I've never picked the Jets to lose on a week-to-week basis. But in the beginning of the season... I have on the other hand. Yes, you have because you're an ass. But on a week to week, on a season basis, I have some ability to kind of look into the future and not see us always winning every single game. But when we get into the game and it's like, you know, we're two and whatever and I go, oh, we could win this game. I'm going to pick us to win. So that's sort of different. I know people are like, well, why do you always pick them to win every game? I pick them win every game every week, but when I'm looking at the season, I actually can see that they're not going to win every game. So, we're going to go game by game. We're going to pick the game. We're going to get to the final record. Then we're going to do the AFC East, what we think is going to happen there. Then we're going to do who we think is going to get in the playoffs, who's going to Super Bowl, the big game, including me. And then who's how the game is going to turn out and who's going to be the MVP. Then, because it's week one, we're gonna go and do the Jet Kingdom pick-up for the season. By the way, if you want to join the Jet Kingdom season this year, it's on Yahoo. So football.fantasysports.com, dot yahoo.com. Just go to my Twitter, at Jet Kingdom, and I post it a couple times. 03:10 Justin: And it's a password is podcast. What else? Jake: Yeah, I wasn't listening to. Yeah, thanks. Oh, is that a throwback? Yep. Oh, blow me. Actually wasn't listening at all. Blow job! I have no idea what you just said. Did you say things? You got stupider than you were. So anyway, and then we're going to do thrown picks. Thrown picks is where I picked the AFC East. And then we talk about the Jets game. I'm going to pick that game. So there will be, I will tell you right now, there's going to be a contradiction from me. this podcast. Okay. But let's start off with a little bit of recap of what happened over the last. Now your contradiction is you're gonna pick us Justin: to eventually at the end you'll pick us to win against the Bills this week, but you'll probably will say in the season Let's talk about the last four games. Yeah, we haven't really done a podcast. So let's wrap the pre-sales It's a wrap. Jake: It's a wrap and Josh McCown is starting to. Let's go big picture. At football quarterback. Big picture. I actually, I'm still, and I said this the other day to our football jet person that we share in common who also is in the podcast I think. I'm actually fine with all the moves they're making, except for one. There's only one move that I think is just... What move did you not like? Well, it's the current move. The quarterback? I don't mind getting rid of all the players. I don't mind doing a full sweep of the house. I mean, they even... What did we do the other day? The Sheldon Richardson trade trading that was a great trade. They did a good job Justin: They got a cancerous Newman out of the locker room. They got a serviceable wide receiver serviceable serviceable Jake: He's not special little pick but what abs? Yeah, but I mean that's better than the new one Justin: It's a toy pick. Yeah, but he was leaving right? He's gone and we were gonna get a compensatory maybe third round pick. Yeah, Don So we ended up, in my opinion, with a better pick. We ended up moving up a full round, and we got a player. Jake: And we swapped sevens. You know that? I think we swapped sevens. Yeah, so they'll get a better seven. They'll get a better seven. Good for them. So that, again, that move I like. Justin: By the way, look out for Seattle's front seven. Jake: That's gonna be scary. Shopping, you know, they look like they're on the road to, you know, a great season. Shopping, Matt Forte, fine. time. I thought even even not playing Macown and all the games they gave those two kids a day Justin: They gave them all the chances. I agree with all of that All the chances they really gave Hackenberg a chance a chance. They were like alright Hackenberg We feel you're better than petty. We saw petty a bit in the regular season last year Jake: No, I think they're both pretty terrible. I think Petty's actually better. No, they're both bad. If the count was taken out and shot,
00 Justin: I think Petty would win more games. Only one of them's dressing on Sunday. Right. You're not gonna dress all three. The days of that happening are gone. Those idiotic days. Jake: I think Hackenberg dresses. By the way, what do you think about seeing Rex Ryan in Hard Knocks? We haven't seen it yet. Justin: Which? Jake: Episode five? Justin: Four. It's in four. I saw episode four. Yeah, he talks to me. Oh, he was in episode three. Oh, three, yeah, yeah. Wouldn't it great? Hey, have you changed your tune on Jamis? Yes. Jake: Jamis is a winner. After? I think he's a leader. So maybe we should bring people into what we're talking about. Yeah, we should. After watching two episodes of Hard Knocks, you came to me and you said, I think he's like a leader and a winner and whatever. I watched the same two episodes and I thought, no. He said this guy's a clown. He's very clownish. It wasn't until the next two episodes that you could actually see his speeches, his whatever, his... Then I saw it. And. And that the players really respect him. They do. Justin: They follow him. He is the leader of that team. He is a leader of men. That guy is good. I don't know if he's very good. He is who you'd, personality wise, that's your quarterback. Jake: That's your leader. That's your quarterback. And then you just watch him play, and he throws picks left and right. No, not left and right. He's a good player. He might lose more again. He's a third year quarterback. He's young. He should be coming into his office. He should be. He's the number one overall pick. Justin: You expect a lot out of him, you know? Jake: Anyway, but seeing Rex in there kind of made me like, ugh. and then they had another Jets reference. Justin: He said, oh, if I had a quarterback like you, or something like that. Jake: So that, so my only mistake of all this stuff, I think they gave Hackenberg a shot, they gave Petty a shot. Hackenberg got more than enough shots. They didn't, they didn't play. They did not play petty, like even in games, like those preseason games, there's two of them, they didn't play them at all. They played one drive. Justin: Well, no, no, he played the entire second half of the Giants game. Yeah. Which is game three. If he did not get hurt, I feel as though he was on his way to winning the job. Jake: Oh, no, no, no, no, I'm talking about, I'm talking about MacKown. MacKown, they let one series. Yeah, one series, and then they're like, they're like, okay. Justin: Sit over there. We're gonna figure it out between these two guys. The other two guys. Great. And I feel as though Petty was on his way to winning the job because he was... He was beating the snot out of the backup giant guys. And if he didn't sprain his knee and got a chance to play in the third game... He could have started maybe. Or in the fourth game, he may have gotten a chance to start that game maybe... and maybe would have won the job. Jake: But then they gave him a count and plays in game four. He actually almost gets hurt. Well, he needed a rep. He needed a couple reps. Well, that's where I think this whole thing flies off. I still don't think. And I know it's not popular. And I and fuck you. I just there's no reason to start petty. It's not helpful in any way. You're wait, wait, wait. Time. Sorry. Justin: McAllen. Thank you. Sorry.
01 Justin: I'm usually... against you on this, but I'm so with you. Ooh, you flipped. I flipped. There's no reason to play Josh McCown. What are you doing? I mean, the only thing you're actually- You've gotten rid of every quality player. The only thing you're doing by playing Josh McCown is perhaps saving Hackenberg and Petty's life. because they could die back there. Jake: But that's fine. They give you better picture if they die. If they die, they die like Drago said. And I would say the other thing that is now proven stupid is the redshirting. Justin: Because now redshirting, but now redshirting looks nothing. You can see he learned nothing. Because he's still inaccurate. He's still indecisive. He still looks at one receiver. Jake: And if he had seen, if he had had thing. So I know we don't want to do it on the way back machine. But we go on the way back machine and we could do it all over again to me. I don't know what you're doing. That's Gino get hit. Oh punch in the face. Punch the face. You have a you have a guy you just drafted in the draft. And Bryce Petty. You play him. You let Fitz be his backup and mentor him. You let him play for that whole season and you see what you got. Justin: That team was just littered with veterans that was ready to win. I know. That was the only problem with that. Jake: They let them spin us into this total rebuild. The only problem with, again, that was not last year. It was two years ago. Two years ago. Justin: And that team was kind of built to win at that moment. But they weren't going to win. They spent a lot of money. Jake: But we all sat here and I sat here and said, you're not going to win anything with fucking Fitzpatrick. Yeah. And we were right. Justin: We were, you were right. They did not win. They did go 10 and 6 in normal circumstances. And got just enough to do nothing. They probably should have made the playoffs. They blew it. He threw three picks in the fourth quarter. And that's what happened. Right. But you can see that Hackenberry... But if you played Petty that whole time... You just would have known. That's all. Yes. He's not saying you would have done anything. Great. You just would have known. And then going into the draft... Jake: Then you could have gone and said, hey, let's go and get a guy. Instead of waiting for the second round and picking Hackenberg, like, fine, we know. But they just picked the wrong guy. Well, they always picked the wrong guy. But they picked Hackenberg. There were plenty of quarterbacks that were drafted after him. I agree. That we could have picked. Fine. But here's my thing for this season. Because clearly, right, everybody, the writing's not on the wall. It's written in, you know, in piss on the sidewalks. I don't know where I came up with that. The Jits are going for they're going for the tank So are the bills by the way bills like we're gonna tank to fuck you. We're gonna take I don't think they're tanking as as Much as we are we are tanking the shit they have a quarter But they've also stocking a pic so they don't really believe in but they have a starting quarterback Sign him no They have Teron Taylor, they have LaShaw McCoy, they have Jordan Matthews. How is it the end of his crew, not the beginning? Justin: But he's still a very, he's a good player. Jake: Yeah, but he's 29. So what? Yeah, because that's it.
00 Jake: 30 year running backs, no good. Justin: Then they would have gotten rid of him had they been tanking. Well, they've been trading way people. They would have said goodbye to you, goodbye to you, sir. Picking up picks. Yeah, but they also got, they're trading players for players in some circumstances. Fine, they got rid of their best receiver, Sammy Watkins. But they did get Jordan Matthews. Jake: Who they traded everything in the world to go get it. Justin: They got Jordan Matthews. Jake: Not the same player. Not at all. But they drafted a receiver in the first round. Fine. I'm just saying. They're not tanking like we're tanking. We're tanking. The outcome of this season is going to rely on a couple of things. One is the first and last game of the season are our entire season. because that I think picks between whether we get top three pick or six or seven. First and last game, do you know who those two games are against? I did, the Bills and I think the Pats. The Pats, week 17. And you could just see them putting in literally people off the street to let us win, to knock us down. Justin: Oh, Belichick is so brutal like that. Jake: That's gonna, and then here's the thing. If given the number one pick in the draft, right, I'm gonna fast forward. We have the number one. We're going in the draft. We're doing it. All talk. Do you trust this organization to pick the right guy? The Goff versus the Wentz. Right. The O'Brien versus whatever. Oh, it's the Winston versus Mariota, which is, you know, we don't know you. We don't know you. But there are some. There's the Peyton Manning versus... Oh, there's Ryan Lee Peyton Manning. You can make the absolute wrong decision. Justin: I think it was like Bledsoe Rick Myrer was a good one. Jake: Rick Myrer. Well, Bledsoe, I don't think one of playoff game ever. Yeah, but he was still a quality starting quarterback in the NFL for a long time. So... I think that's where Jess fans, we can all be like- And that's also not true. Justin: I mean, he was- Jake: He came in when he got hurt. Justin: He won that ASC Championship game. Jake: And he won a ring. So that's what I think, I'm kind of like, while I'm kind of in the suck for Sam thing, or whatever it is. Justin: There's a bunch of quarterbacks, whatever. We didn't pick one this year in the first round, cause we're tanking and we decided not to. There were guys there. We could have picked Watson, who's on Houston. We could have picked the gym. Jake: I watch Watson. Yeah. He looks lost. Now, that line is terrible. Rookies are gonna lose. But that guy just runs around. He has that thing that I think that quarterbacks who are very mobile have, that is, it's a curse. It's that, should a runner pass. Like Peyton Manning never thought, oh should I run? He's like, I'm gonna just throw the ball. Tom Brady's not like, should I run or pass? I'm gonna throw the ball. So, but you could see him like holding and then kind of going forward and backwards like, I could run. No, I'm not gonna run. I'm gonna run. No, I'm not gonna run. And then he just ends up like winging it. Justin: He'll turn into a player like Russell Wilson or Cam Newton or something like that. Or maybe not. And that's his ceiling kind of, right? Jake: Well, yeah, I mean, ones a Super Bowl winner and ones... I don't think he did and uh got him to play off. Well he lost in the Super Bowl. That's true. That's worse. I mean he got there. Let's do it. Let's get to... League MVP by the way. Let's get our season...
03 Jake: Let's start indoor season predictions. Okay what we're doing we're picking the entire season. Hey so far we're tuned to. We won two we lost two. No what we're starting at the first one. Oh we're talking about the preseason. No I don't care. So again we're gonna pick every game all through the Justin: season right now. Any big injuries happen to us? Just that me mentioning, we have a 53 man roster and he surprises anything weird. Jake: They were no surprise, we picked up the tight end from Giants. I have, you know, um, no surprise cuts. I thought they'd cut Forte. I mean, they're shopping him. That whole shopping thing, I think, kind of like, it just gives your hand away. You're shopping him. Justin: I don't think that comes from the Jets. I think that's somebody... I think that might be the person who's trying to get him. I'm like the gents are shopping this guy. Maybe Jake: Shenanigans, all right, let's do it. Game by game. Let's go week one in literally four days September 10 Justin: Yeah, this is Wednesday tomorrow's Thursday. The season starts tomorrow. Yeah, well, we're gonna pick that game in a bit Jake: Yeah, well, let's start with the Bills game. First of all, also very happy, and I don't know if you feel this way, but when that season thing came out back in that podcast, I said I was so happy. Two road games? Two road games. Because this team, I kind of want to just see what they are for myself at home before I have to go invest to get to that stadium. Right. So here we go. I have my, I have my like, I know we're Justin: doing this game, my game, and I'm not going to give this away, but I have my record that I have to figure out. where those things are gonna happen. Just don't do this. But okay, I'll keep it track. So this is a loss. Loss, why so? Because we're gonna lose on the road a lot. Yeah. We might not win a road game. Yeah, we're gonna lose on the road most of the time. And don't give away the whole season. Jake: So I have a one. Oh and one. Justin: Oh and one. Jake: At go to the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, it's not gonna happen. One o'clock, it's gonna be a loss. Yeah, not gonna happen. All right, come back off that big loss. Now I have to fly across the country, go play the Raiders who, not the Raiders of the bad Raiders that we would lose to. These are the good Raiders. I think we lose again. Me too, oh and two. Oh and two. Now, all right, so also what I want you to think about is the, so we have McCown starting, barring injury. When is that over? Yeah, got it. This is shit, duh. I'll let you know. All right, me too. All right, so we go to the Oakland Raiders. We come back. It's a loss. I like that. It's a late game. That's super cool. Well, it's at Oakland. So then we come back. Justin: Home opener. Home opener, yes. Jake: The Finifin Fins. With the Dolphins. Huge AFC rival match. Second game in our division. Big time. Big time. Big time. This is like. Basically, what's the stats? Like you can't go 0 and 3 and never win the Super Bowl? Like, 1-2, I know you can. Just so hard. So like, you know, whatever. So brutal. That'll be the talking point. The Jets are off to a terrible start. But, you know, if they can win this game and show the whatever. Oh, the other thing I was gonna say is I don't think we're actually gonna be blown out.
00 Jake: I think we're gonna lose games normally. Like, by seven, by three, by four. I don't think we're gonna get other, well, some of them will blow us out. Justin: It's gonna be, it's gonna be. See ya. Here's my prediction. Early, like we might give up the early touchdown. Right. And we're gonna give up points late. The middle of the game will be tight. How long we did last year. Jake: All right, what do you have us doing in week three? Losing. Yeah, me too. Oh, and three. Crazy, oh, and three. All right, so then off our third loss of the season. You're loving the tank. If you're in for the tank at this point, you're like oh and three, perfect. Maybe, we don't know what the other team, well we know that the Dolphins and Bills at least have one win each at this point, so we're happy about that. Then we go, we have the Jaguars at home. Right. The Jacksonville Jaguars, are you going all in on them this year or the Titans? Which team are you gonna pick to suck or to be great? Because remember you had them winning their division last year. Justin: I'll let you know later when I give my AFC. See. picks for the class. Jake: I feel like we're gonna go up against a team that the teams that we're gonna beat are the teams that have just as much dysfunction. You know, like this is a dysfunctional team. They'll have more talent than we do by a billion. But I actually could see the team being like, we're not gonna go 0-4. I have us winning this game. Justin: Losing. New head coach. Losing. Jake: Do you have us getting a fired coach in the middle of this? No. Because it's C. Justin: No, that'd be so unfair. Jake: And as much as I'm not. Justin: I know it's a business and all that. This just isn't fair. Jake: I'm coming down off the Bulls bandwagon of the first year. And it's getting down. Justin: This would be so unfair to fire a guy. Jake: But you have to made the deal with him. It doesn't matter. Justin: Yeah. Because he would quit. Jake: I would quit. Justin: I'd be like, fuck you. I'm quitting. You just gave away everybody. And by the way, I'll never be hired again. So fuck you. So fuck you. So fuck you. Jake: Like, you know what I mean? It's unfair. You know, you... So next week, fired up, we go on the road again. So wait, I'm gonna win four, you're one in three? I'm one in three. Okay. And we go to the semi-disfunctional, pretty perennially dysfunctional Cleveland Browns. Yeah. I think we can win this one too. I think we might have a little winning streak here and we'll get this false hope. Justin: I actually believe we can win this game, but I think we're gonna lose. Jake: Oh, you have this going 0 and 5? Justin: Yeah, I do. Jake: All right, so then we have another loss. So. We play the Patriots. We play the Patriots. And we're gonna lose. And we're gonna lose. And we're gonna go, you're saying 0 and 6. I'm at 2 and 4 at this point. Yeah. Is that right? Yeah. Yes. All right. Okay. that, oh, Patriots at home. All right, whatever. Well, we both have that as a loss. Right, but in our world, like in my world, like we just won two. So we're kind of feeling like, oh, we can do it before, you know, it gets crushed. All right. Then we go at the Dolphins. That's a trick turnaround to see the Dolphins again. Go at the Dolphins. Still a day game. No big deal. It'll be warm down there.
02 Jake: I see us losing again. This is our first win. One and six? Yeah. Awesome. Then we have the Falcons at home. This is a loss. Totally see us losing this game. So you have us at one and seven. Yep. And I have to still two and six. I went from two and five to two and six. And then we have on a Thursday night short week. But at home, Thursday Night Game against the Buffalo Bills. Mm-hmm. I think we get swept by the Bills this year. Me too. Oh, god, that's going to suck. And you have friends who are actually Bills fans. I do. That's just going to be terrible for you. Pretty bad. You have us at 1 and 8 at this point? Justin: 1 point. Jake: All right, then go down to your brilliantly led... James Winston, tempe buccaneers. I will be at this game. I'm going to this game. I'm going to two road games this year, cause I'm an idiot. Cause why not see a terrible team, the most terrible of teams, 10 times. Yep. In person. Justin: Right. You asked, I think this is the quarterback change game. Jake: Yeah, so I feel like it's after this, but yeah. Justin: I feel like this is it, because this is a mini buy into this, Jake: and then you have your buy. Oh, yes, that's a good one. All right, Hack Attack, ready for petty. It's probably Hagemirg. Just because they have to just keep seeing. They have to. It's his pick versus not his pick. Right. Even though I think Petty has looked better. Just he's looked better. Justin: They'll probably see what I get in practice, whatever they look like again. McCown can also just die in the third game. Jake: Right. He might get killed. Are we playing any just amazing defenses? Justin: Like, well, Miami has a really good line. They're the one who almost killed Petty last year. They have a really, really good line. Jacksonville has. talent on defense. New England always has a good defense. What are you doing here at this game? Atlanta has a good defense. What about Bucks? Jake: No, we're losing this game. It's a loose game. That's a loss. So you're now one at nine. Yeah. I'm two and eight. All right. Buy week. Buy week. Win. Total win. Victory, unless a quarterback change is not happening. I'm calling it the hack attack. Yeah. OK. I do think they'll put in Hackerburg. All right, so now we go on to... All right, at home, we come... This is a nice stretch, because you go at Bucks, but then you get a bye week and then two home games. So if you were gonna turn the season around, if we look back on this, we'll be like, oh my God, this is where the season got turned around. This would be it, this is a stretch. But I don't think we're gonna turn it around. I think we're gonna lose you. We're gonna lose to Carolina. And you're going... Justin: You're laughing, but like I'm one in ten. Jake: One in ten and what are you? Two in nine. All right, so what are you laughing at? I don't know, I guess I have one, yeah. All right, then, Kansas City Chiefs, I think the Chiefs are gonna be good this year. Chiefs are gonna be very good. Again, so we're gonna lose that game. Yep, agree. Wow, we really are going. At Denver we have no chance.
01 Jake: Agreed we're gonna lose so then we go at Denver four o'clock game now in December. That's a cold game. Nah, it's not that cold there That's a fallacy. Okay. Well then so you're still so you have said one and twelve at this point. Yep Then we come back. Nope. Sorry, we stay on the road and we go to New Orleans. We'll be there We will we will be checking the podcast will be in New Orleans. We've all booked everything So that'll be fun. We don't have tickets, but we don't need them. You don't really? No. That's going to be like, you walk up. Here's $10. Hello. Thank you. Justin: Here's a hurricane. Jake: Yeah. All right. All right. What do you have happening in Orleans? A loss. Another loss. You're 1 and 13 for you. All right. Two games left. We're definitely the first pick in the draft at this point. I don't think we are, definitely. Justin: With one win? The fact that we beat the brown, that we lost to the Browns in my book, you have the Browns beating us. Yes. Or sorry, I have the Browns beating us. You have us beating the Browns. Right. They're going to be the team. So it's better to lose to them. And I think that's not what I'm doing here, but I have us beating the Chargers. Me too. I have us beating the Chargers. We beat the Chargers. Jake: So you always go we own the charges we own Philip Rivers for some reason Why is my math off on this? Oh cuz I have updated by one. All right. I have it's a two and thirteen you have us at three and Justin: Twelve. Yeah, I was ending at two and fourteen because New England is going to They are actually incapable of losing to us. I think Jake: So let's go back to the world. Do you remember a game against a team, uh, the Indianapolis Colts? Yes, I do. That we were on the road. I do. And playing them. We had to win to get into the playoffs. But I can counter this very easily. I think that's the game. That's the proof. Justin: They're the difference between them. Jake: Painter, right? That's right. They didn't play Peyton Manning. In the second half, I think. They won't play Brady in this. They don't have to. Justin: Their backup's also really good. I'm convinced. Jimmy is the best quarterback on our team. Well, yes, that's not saying much Jimmy's probably the best backup in the whole league. I don't even think they're gonna play Jimmy Jake: I think they'll play whoever's behind Jimmy. They traded him. They might have another they traded brisket brisket All right, the end of the season by the way, you have never and all the years we've been doing Justin: I'm always so optimistic. I think two and fourteen is fairly optimistic Jake: When you look at the talent level on this team. I was 3 and 13, you was 2 and 14. That's so bad. That is so bad. I feel like we're pretty spot on. Expectations are low. Justin: How could they get used to it? How could they even win four or five games? Jake: So I mean games, all right, so we go back over our thing. Like where are those wins? Do we split with the dolphins? That's two? Yep, I could see that. We can beat Cleveland and Jacksonville, that's four. Yep.
00 Jake: Give me one more and I could you have to pull it out of your ass I could charge her I could see pair I could see panthers not being good. They sucked last year They're gonna but they could be a team of Kamen is not losing to us They could they're not on the road in the winter not happily totally. I think it would be the Chargers Justin: Yeah, cuz it's a one o'clock game on the East Coast fine Jake: And I think there's a chance that New England pulls everybody from the team and literally picks out cats. That's our best case scenario. They put cats on the field. That's the best case scenario we win six games. And we lose. No. I swear to you. Justin: No, we'll fuck this up somehow. Yes. Definitely. Jake: Spoken like true jam fans. We will fuck this up. All right. I do think we'll be competitive. Like it's not going to be blow it after blow it after blow it. Justin: No, it's not going to be brutal. But watching the offense is going to be brutal. And by that... They're gonna make the defense look worse because they're just gonna be so goddamn tired. Jake: And, un- no, not- Un- they're inexperienced. Unspoiced to you, I think our secondary is gonna be exposed. Fucking Drew Brees and Ty Brady are gonna fucking light that up. Justin: By the end of the year. Like, draft James Wynton. By the end of the year. Those two safeties. I think we're gonna be really happy with May More than Adams really from what I've seen in the preseason watching Mays everywhere. So is Adams. Mays more of a hawk, like ball. He's the guy who's gonna knock the ball out of the receiver's hands by knocking them the fuck out. Right. Like he's the hitter. I mean, like, are we the slugger that we had? Yeah, I just I'm watching this and I'm like, this making is pretty good. All right. So what do you have for the ACV? ASE East. Let's keep going. I got to go in my notes. All right. You know, AFC East. I have the Jets at two and 14. Yeah. The bills at four and 12, because they'll figure out a way to win four games and screw everything up. I have five and eleven. So we're close. I have the dolphins at 7 and 9. Oof. So all losing except for the Patriots. I have an 8 and 8. They love a good 8 and 8. And I have the Pats at 13 and 3, but I can be convinced that they'll be, I can be convinced that they could go 14-15 wins. Jake: I can't, I just can never do that high. So I went 12 and 4. I don't know. They'll probably win a lot of games RYAN They're gonna win a lot of games. Justin: Right. And they're playing... and they have ceased. There's no reason for that. Jake: It happens. '. and, I'll I'll have a. And it's terrible sitting here before the first game of the season and saying, well, yeah, with Josh McGown. He wins the Super Bowl and he's our Brad Smith. Right? He's the Brad Smith. He comes in the defense. It was a Brad Smith Brad who was the guy for the... Brad Johnson. John Johnson. You're really bad at this. I call Painter the fucking backup quarterback.
01 Jake: What's his first name? Oh, Nick. Curtis. Oh, see? Oh, that's good enough. Um, so Brad Smith. He's our Brad Smith. And... He's not our Brad Smith. Brad Johnson. Sorry. Brad Johnson or I'm trying to think of another guy who played with... Justin: Eli Manning? Jake: No. Eli made it twice and he was MVP. So that's the other outcome. The defense, with these god damn... Try and deal first there. Try and deal first. Just go ballistic. And we just turn it and... And we turn just and... Clicking... And this hole... And this hole... Just sits behind and just starts clicking. And it just starts clicking. And so on and so... That's it. That's it, so that's it. That's it, so that's it, so that's it. What if it gets hurt in the first game Hackenberg and so on and so on. And at the end of the season, You're like, yeah, we went 9 and 7, that was good. Not, not, not, sorry, not first over pick. First over pick only means one thing to me. A quarterback. Of course. Right. So that's the only thing- thing I care about is the quarterback. So if Hacken goes 9 and 7, Yeah. And we the end of the season, And fucking Mel Kiper isn't sitting there on his fucking little stool going. Thanks for watching! Up here comes the Jets, well let's look at their needs up on the big board, pull them up here. Number one need, oh this is like every year they've been trying to do something since the name is. It's quarterback for the number one need here. If I don't hear those fucking words, I don't care. I don't care if they trade for, I don't care if RG3 comes out of the depth. Justin: No, I'm just saying like if McCown gets knocked out of game one, right, and Hackenberg comes in and they go like, let's not even say nine, let's say six and ten. Jake: 6 and 10 but 6 and 10 where you look at Akbar and you say we're not drafting a quarterback because we think you're like Justin: All right, we think you can play we think you like in the second half you look better than you did in the first Jake: Yeah, and you showed us and there's one game that you literally put it on your shoulders and showed us That's the guy was a comeback in the fourth quarter. Absolutely Justin: You beat you know, we won three of the last four maybe beat the Patriots or something. You're a B1 team Jake: You shouldn't be all right. Let's move on. All right playoffs playoffs playoffs and you do NFC I'll do a nancy first NFC first Okay, I went I went division. I went divisions and I went wild cards Yeah, I didn't do I didn't do one through six. Okay fine. I didn't do that Justin: Well one through six is divisions and wild card. I didn't do that. I did the seeding Well, I mean the first four won their division and the next two were the wild cards. Jake: Right, but I didn't see them within them. I didn't say this team is seeded over that team. Oh, I did. Okay, well I didn't. That's what I'm saying. Oh, you fucked up. I can just read it off as I did it and go ahead and do it. Justin: NFC, go. Or you want me to go first to lead the way? West. Uh... Me too. Seattle. Number one overall. Jake: Okay. I wouldn't argue with that. North. announced that the
06 Jake: , I think that's gonna be a crazy one, two point, two point. I have Dallas. I don't think they can, they can't pull what they pulled off. I think they're good, but they're good. They're good. Justin: That's all for today. Jake: For more information about It's really hard to say to They, they, they, team. Do they still have their number one wide receiver? Yup. They still have their number one quarterback? Yup. They still have that running back duo? Yup. Is their defense going to be better? Because they're a little bit older. That was a really young defense. I think they're going to be better. It's like, how are they getting worse? I think it's because they lost the offensive coach. They lost both coordinators. Yeah. So that's where I think maybe they can. Really, I don't know. Justin: I put a lot of stock in Shanahan leaving. Yeah. I. I think Matt Ryan was on the downward. Like nobody really thought anything of Matt Ryan. And then all of a sudden Shanahan shows up and boom, he's back up to the top of the league. Yep. I have Carolina winning the division, bouncing back. They're one year removed for making the Super Bowl. They had a hangover year. Cam was the MVP that year. I know. And. They don't have to play that first place schedule, which is brutal after losing a Super Bowl. Again, the Super Bowl losers coming out of that division, and I think Atlanta's gonna have that hangover. So I have, so we have in the wild card spot. Jake: The Giants, which we already talked about, and who else? And Detroit. Oh, so I have the Panthers, so I think, I believe the Panthers will come back. You just want to come back. Justin: So we just have one team difference, I think, to try to make the playoffs. And you have Atlanta in the playoffs. Yeah, that's not a big, not a big difference. All right. The East. Let's go to the FC. The East, we already said New England. Yes. And I have them won overall. Sure. OK. The West. I think the Raiders are making a shot. Jake: I have Kansas City winning the division. Okay, so here's the thing. Um, you know, there's a thing called the five. Is it five in, five out, or something with the playoffs like that? Five teams, can't be five. Yeah, maybe it's five. Like every year there's a thing that, like, did this study that over a five year period or something that... every year five teams were in and five teams, you know, there's a swap of five teams out of that group that gets in the playoffs. So there's always the teams that get in and they're just kind of perennial and then there's the ones who swap. So you have to look at it and go which ones do I think are the ones that are always perennial. Oh, gotcha.
00 Justin: Right. So anyway, I think the Raiders, I think they're... Hey man, they're good. What they were on their way to winning that division last year. If not for... got injured and they would have made noise. I'll take the Raiders. I agree. I just like Kansas City. I think I had the Chiefs in the wild card. OK, so. And for the record, I have the Raiders in the wild card. So we just have a flip. Right. North. Jake: I think the Steelers, I mean, you're such a Steelers like ball sucker at this point. Justin: I have the Steelers as well. And I think that's one of the better divisions. Them in the West are the two creams. So I have I've bought I know you have I've bought them are winning the six spot in the wild card Oh, I have the bangles in the six. I just don't like the bangles. I think they're gonna be really bad about Jake: Yeah, I think they're gonna happen been really bad in a really long time Justin: I know but I feel like it's coming. I feel like Marvin Lewis is just so stale again same talent not the same Not the same. Jake: AJ Green. Yeah, but they had weapons around AJ Green. Now not as many. I feel like they just make them talk good. I think the defense isn't as good either as it has probably. Justin: Anyway, so we have one spot left because we already screwed that up. What are you thinking in the south? Jake: I'm here to off it Titans ago. It's not me the Jaguars like you pretty good last year So I didn't pick the Titans you would have been saying for six months. It's the Titans Justin: I know but I watched some preseason. I wasn't very impressed. Yeah Jake: Picking Houston Wow, I'm riding this who don't say fucking who's who who's the quarterback when they get into the playoffs Justin: They have made the playoffs a number of years without quarterbacks. I think that defense is really good. JJ. What miss all of last year and they still made the playoffs on the back of what now? Brock Osweiler. Extremely weak division. Still weak. It is. Andrew Luck's hurt. Like that plays into it. I wasn't picking the call. I just, but you know, the division's just easier when Andrew Luck's not playing. Right. So I got used to it. I just feel like that defense with clowny stepped up last year. And you just take that difference from last year that was shut down and you throw. Oh, by the way, the best player on defense in the NFL onto the field. You're going to get better. Right. Jake: So I just buy you still have this really big unknown. Justin: You do, you do. At quarterback. You know what? They'll run the ball. They got Lamar Miller. They got a rookie running back. They can run the ball. De'Andre Hopkins is very good receiver. Just throw it up there. He'll catch it. We've seen it. He burnt the shit out of the Jets. Jake: So who do you have in the playoffs? I mean, who has the Super Bowl? I didn't do any of the conference trip chant. I have a rematch. Me too. Oh my god, we probably have the same rematch. Justin: Sea Hawks Patriots. Yeah, and I have Seattle winning at this time 2423
01 Jake: 3427 Hawks Both have the Seahawks winning. Yeah, we both and I have Wilson MVP. I think I picked that. Yeah, it's hard to not pay Justin: the quarterback. Right. Wow, that was weird. We don't normally agree on that. No, no. But it's hard. I mean, these two teams to me appear to be a cut above in both conferences. In the AFC, who's going to beat New England? They're going to have the home field. And I have this. Yeah, I think. Jake: And who's going to be a little at home? They have two of the best home fields, too. Yeah. Justin: Who's gonna beat these teams on the road? Jake: What team? Can the Giants? Can the Cowboys? Green Bay maybe? Hackers? Yeah. Falcons? If I'm gonna get my set? I mean we threw out teams by the way. I mean Arizona. Are they gonna be good? No. I don't know. I think they're gonna take a huge step back. They did last year. They took a step back. They didn't make the playoffs. They were bad. Palmer's I think he's that's it for them, but two years ago, man. They were good team I think I think that I mean as much as I don't want to see the Patriots back in Super Bowl I am Who the fuck is beating them? Pittsburgh Pittsburgh could beat them. I Mean again right now looking at it Justin: It doesn't look a lot of teams could beat them out of my AFC East me no one's going there and beating them I don't think They would have to go somewhere. You have to knock them out of the home field. Jake: Out of the guys I have, I don't think the Raiders could go over to New England and beat them. Justin: No, but they might be able to beat them in Oakland maybe, but is Oakland gonna give a fuck? Jake: And Steelers, I could see Steelers going and beating them. Because Oakland's moving. Like, are they really gonna show up and come out for the Raiders this year? Oh, I don't know. Chiefs, I can see the Chiefs going in. I think the Chiefs are gonna be good. Yeah, they're always good. Right, but I could see them against that cold weather team going in New England and just putting on a show. Again, there's been teams. There's no show that they're, that's the problem with them. I remember a little... They're very methodical. Mark Sanchez going into New England and... Justin: I remember that too, man. Listen, the... Jake: It sounds so much like Charlie Day, just saying. it. Justin: I am Charlie Day. New England's really hard. All right, we got that's the season. Really hard to bet against them. We'll see. Really hard. Good one. All right. Are we picking the games? Yeah, now we got to pick the games. OK, let's do it. Jet Kingdom pick them. Join us. So, join us. Join us. As he said earlier, check Jet Kingdom Twitter. It's got links and shit in there. It'll tell you how to get it. It's actually do shit in my Twitter. All right, so let's do this. All right, every week we pick. Every single goddamn game and we pick it against the spread But what do we not give the AFC East games out because we do those later in the throne picks So we'll start because Thursday night has an AFC East team We will have to start on Sunday early at one with Atlantic going to Chicago Atlanta's favored by seven and I like them because they got Mike Glenn they they're they traded up
02 Justin: One pick to pick a guy to overall and they're not starting them. Talk about a stupid fuck team. Jake: Oh, well, not only and signing the other guy for six. Signing before the draft. Right. Stupid. Yeah, I'll take Atlanta. I will take Atlanta and I'll give it. Justin: I'll lay that seven. I don't care. The seven. I'll lay that seven on the road. All right. Cincinnati is hosting Baltimore in a good rival to open the division rival to open the season. Every opener should just be a division game. I don't know why a lot are but they all should just one two three Jake: They should all be for like enough all of them five like Thursday night games, right? They're all they're all Yeah, always except for this week and then they try to make the last game of the season of the day Well, the last game is always a division. Well, that's the first week should be They try. Justin: Anyway, let's move on. Go ahead. Cincinnati's hosting Baltimore. While I do have Baltimore ahead of them on the season, I will pick Cincinnati to win Jake: this first game they're laying to and a half. I like Cincy at home. I don't know what ball, I don't know what team that is. What is Baltimore? What is, is Flacco playing? No. What is Flacco? What is Flacco? Give me Cincy. Justin: Okay, Pittsburgh goes to Cleveland. and is giving 10 and I think they win by 20. Jake: Don't think, I don't like that much. That is a rookie quarterback who's playing against Pittsburgh. I think Pittsburgh's a team that like gets better as the season goes on. Justin: Cleveland. Got it. Alright. Arizona is going to Detroit. Jake: I don't think so. I don't, I like Tennessee at home in the opener. I think one point's not a lot. Io I don't like, you know, coastal travel. Give me Tennessee. We didn't talk about this. Should we skip this? We'll talk about it later. Should we talk about it now? Justin: Oh, is it beneficial? It's on this post as postponed. Holy crap. They got to play it. They have to play it. Supposed to play it in like some bi-week somewhere in some neutral site or something. Jake: I don't know how we got to talk about now. It doesn't matter. Let's talk about now because it's not. Justin: All right. So well, Miami is hosting Tampa and it's postponed. It's postponed because there is a hurricane. Irma. Yeah. and I guess they don't want to go to a neutral game away from Miami Yes, they don't fill in the fucking London all the time Figure it out later? I don't know how you do that if they don't have the same bye weeks I don't know I don't know how you figure that out later Jake: So I know when 9-11 happened, didn't they take an entire week?
00 Jake: And they just wiped it Justin: But that's the entire interface That's what I'm saying But they just went a week late Right Which is fine They just moved it They didn't wait Right I don't know how you do this Jake: I don't know how you postpone a game between two teams unless you switch by weeks somehow. I don't know there's gonna be a lot of fantasy people out there going I know that's the not 5. 5. Why? Because it doesn't, I don't know, I don't know why it doesn't play it, but how would you play for week one? Well, then people who win, lose, and people who lost, win. That's what I mean. So you could start Jake Cutler on week one and lose because it's a zero, then they play in week five, and you get those points back in week one? I don't know when they're going to play. Justin: This is just become their position. What do they do with their actual models? Jake: I don a how do you do it? NFT actually knows. I know, I know, they should. I am going to pick my name. Justin: I don't care. uh Doesn't, uh, doesn't go in the record books. Washington hosting Philadelphia. This is a pick-em. And I'll pick Philly. Jake: On the road. Yeah, I like home. Just a home opener. Washington. I don't know what I mean. Really picking against your boy Kirk Cousins? Yeah. Let's predict this now. Like, are you on the Kirk Cousins? Is the greatest quarterback ever since whatever? I think Kirk Cousins is very good. Justin: and we should be doing anything all the money that's his that's his that's what i make Jake: and you're paying like not staff for money like he's probably better than that's his that's his that's what i make more than that then you don't do that you have to draft Justin: Okay. You have to build them there and it has to take five to seven years to get it there. Okay fine. Like the Russell Wilson model or any model really. Let's keep going. Whatever. Remember that bet that we made that Russell Wilson would not, I had Russell Wilson and you had Colin Kaepernick. Yeah. That's working out well for you. Is it up there with the Jaguars winning the division last year? It's actually better than that. Okay. It's better. It's way better. Yeah. All right. So Houston. is hosting Interesting. Yeah Jacksonville and I got them winning in a blowout Jake: That's gonna be I don't believe in Jacksonville this year Justin: Yeah, I got used to winning in a blowout. Yep. Okay, we agree. It's five and a half by the way All right. Let's go to four o'clock Jake: How many fours? One, two, three. Oh, we got the double Monday night. We got the double Mondays. Oh, the double Monday. We got the double Mondays. We only have three. Double Monday.
00 Justin: We have the Los Angeles Rams. The Lars. Posting the Colts. Sanzandru Lot. That's easy. And this is actually my suicide pick this week. Oof. I'm picking the Rams early. Get them out Jake: By the way, I think they win this game. Probably a good one. I might stay away from that a little too on the nose. Justin: I just don't really. I mean, I don't go for like the big one like, Jake: oh, the Patriots, the Patriots, I wouldn't go for Blake. I think a lot of people will be picking the bills. I think the bills will be picked a lot. I think the Steelers will probably also be picked. I will take the Rams at home in the opener. Justin: Given three against the backup quarterback. I mean really? Come on. No. The Colts aren't even that good anyway. No. Green Bay's hosting Seattle. This is the prime time four o'clock I would imagine. The 425-er. So Green Bay is home, Green Bay is favored by three, and I will take Seattle. Jake: I will take Green Bay at home on an opener. Again, I'm going to go all openers. I think the openers are going to get it this week. Justin: I don't know if that's like a thing or not. It's a thing. I'm not sure. Carolina is going to San Francisco, and Carolina's favored by five. I will take Carolina. Jake: I'll take Carolina. This is the home opener. So you're going against your home opener, too. Well, I think Carolina's going to be good this year. I could see them going in and this being some absolute fucking blowout, where you're just like, what? Justin: And here's our Sunday Nighter. Which is always a classic Sunday night game. Dallas hosts the Giants. And this line moved from Dallas favored by three to Dallas favored by four. I imagine that's the Ezekiel Elliott news. What is the... Well, he's playing week one. Jake: He is going to play week one. Yeah. I'm up against him, so I'm not happy about it. He's playing week one. But he might not play week two. Justin: May not play week two. But he's playing week one and that moved the that moved the line one point. What about odb? I don't know is he playing I don't think he is No, it's a shame for New York. Anyway, I got the Giants cuz four and I think this is a close game I think it's a field goal. So I'm gonna take the Giants. Yeah, I'll take Dallas at home Jake: And just because I feel like they're gonna they're I don't think that matters. They're gonna dial up here home opener They're gonna dial up a little bit of the Juju from from New England that fuck you Roger Goodell juju Justin: Let's see what we can do and though, you know, you think Ellie don't have like three three hundred yards or something like 30 carry Jake: I think the two hundred yard three time a giant's defense was very good last year giant defenses Don't actually stick you here to year. So that's Like, you know, I think they're going to be excellent. They could be good. I think they'll also win this and buy more than four. So let's keep going. All right. Now we're on Monday night. Justin: We have both will kind of do one that starts at seven here on the East Coast. Minnesota is hosting New Orleans. Minnesota is favored by three. I'll take Minnesota. Just cause? Jake: I don't even know what that team is at this point. Neither?
00 Jake: Still a good defense? They were? Kind of? Yeah, well you're early picking the defense and they turned to be terrible. And Sam Bradford? Who is he? Stefan Diggs? Who is Sam Bradford? Justin: No Adrian Peterson, Adrian Peterson on the world. Should I change that? Is he gonna wanna like go wild? That's a good point. Jake: In Minnesota? Do I need to change that right now? Did I just think of that? Do you think he has the ability to actually go wild at this point? For one game? To dial it up against New Orleans? Sure, why not? One game? Justin: Or to dial it up against his old team? Jake: Yeah, but so the team has a good defense. They might just be like, we'll just shut you down and show you what we could do. I'm gonna leave it. Justin: Yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna leave it too, but let's say that we just said that for the record, that Adrian Peterson may go nuts in this game and we could be picking this wrong. All right, last game. The game I love. You gotta keep going. Yeah, the 10, 20 Monday Nighter. Love this game. Oh. My favorite. Denver is hosting the LA Chargers. Okay, I really want to go to one of these charger games. I know this one's in Denver But I want to go to the one of these games in the soccer stadium uh Denver's favored by three I like the chargers Jake: Uh, I will take the chargers as well. All right Justin: So let's do the afcs. There's only two games Let's do New England first. They're the season opener on Thursday nights. Thursday night 8.30. New England home. This is our thrown picks. Got it. I know. New England home. Kansas City. New England's favored by 8.5 points. So big, big favorites. The the Vegas likes them. I like them. This will probably be one of their bigger tests, even for the season, because Kansas City, we both think are going to be very good in a playoff team. But God damn it, they're New England. And I just feel like they. They don't lose like games and they score points. So I have them in the 30s and I have Kansas City in the 20s. I'm going to go 31-21 New England. Jake: I actually think I just I think New England is going to win. I just eight and a half. It's a lot and I know it's like stupid. Forget the points. Justin: I mean I'm just pickling the score. Jake: Oh yeah, well I'm doing both. But I've got it. Got it. Got it. Yeah. I think they'll be able to cover it. I think the KC will be able to get within that range. I don't know, eight and a half seems like a lot. I don't know, is there a hangover? It's just hard not to root against the Patriots. So, no one's gonna win. 33-28. Justin: Okay. And Miami is postponed. Jake: Game of the century.
00 Justin: The game of the week. The New York Jets. Jake: Oh, that's terrible. You're a terrible individual. Justin: Oh my god. New York Jets. It pains me to say it. The New York Jets. Going up to Buffalo. Let's go, Buffalo. And take on the mighty bills. and both teams have nothing to really Be excited about I was texting back and forth yesterday with a friend of mine and He's like, yeah, and he was like whatever yeah, he's like Maybe there'll be a touchdown scored in this game perhaps? By one of the teams and I'm like trust me we're worse than you. Yeah. So yeah why don't we just go over this? Jake: Um. What are the keys to the castle? Brrr. How can the Jets beat the Bills? Remember we're supposed to be just fans here. We want them to win games in general. Justin: I mean the defense scores a touchdown. I like it. And don't miss any field goals. Okay. I'm serious. I mean how do you win this game? Don't miss a field goal. Seriously if you line up for two of them make them both. That's six points. Score a touchdown on defense. That's seven. That's 13. All right, so hold the bills to under 13 points. That's it. I mean, that's how you win. I don't know if we score a touchdown on offense. Really? Really. I don't know if we score one at all. Jake: Okay. I think there's, again, now this is where the contradiction will come in my... Justin: Yeah, this is so ridiculous of you. I'll just give my score. Buffalo17Jets6. Jake: Yeah, because I'm a Jets fan and I look- I'm rooting for them! I look at every game and I go- Was what I said wrong? Is there a chance? Well here, first thing first, we got blown up by big plays in the games last year, right? Grievous being off the island. McCoy is a weapon. Tyrone's not playing, I don't even know what's playing with him. He is playing. Alright, so he's back from concussion. Justin: He's out from the concussion protocol. He's ready to go. Jake: He's dangerous. Justin: Very dangerous. Jake: So that's it. You gotta stop him and you gotta stop McCoy. I'm not really worried about anything else. They don't really have any weapons that, like, used to be Sammy Watkins, but I'm not worried about him anymore. Like, who am I worried about? I'm worried about those two dudes. I think the Jets defensively stack up well against... Those guys. We went young, fast, flying around linebackers, safeties. I feel like we'll be able to keep them in line. Of course we don't have shows with Bridgerton, but I think that'll maybe motivate some people. Big Cat getting through the line and making some sacks.
01 Jake: Why can't we win this fucking game? All it is McAllen to do is... Yeah, throw to who. Robbie Anderson curse who just got here maybe some tight in action There is none Jenkins he's out He's suspended. Oh, that's right. Look, yeah, well Marshall suspended all that. Well, you never liked him Justin: Anyway, no, but at least he's like sort of a guy he's talented He's just oh see if our Darius Stewart can do something Chad Henson Maybe I think Stewart's better. Jake: Alright, I say Jets can win this. 16-14, New York Jets win and go against everything I said for the last hour and a half. I'm not gonna pick against them. I will not pick against my own team to win. That's not good. But I think I did this last year too. Again, there's two seasons. There's another season where miraculous things happen and this team turns from worst to first. It's happened before, teams have done it. It's possible it happens with us. All right, we'll be back. Next week, what are we gonna keep up? I guess it won't be, according to our predictions, it won't be a lot of double podcasting since we try to double podcast if we get a win. Otherwise we'll be back. We will look. Talk about the game, back next week. Justin and Jake saying, as always, let's go Jets. Thanks for watching!
