00:24 Jake: Ever! My name's Jake, joining me... 319 times in a row. I'm just as terrible at luck as he is at everything else. Justin. Hey, Justin. How grump... on the grump-o-meter... Uh-oh, crossover. How grumpy are you today? Justin: I don't know if I could be more grumpy right now At this very minute It does make you kind of just want to give up. I'm done. Fuck this. This is annoying Jake: God so like we just. Just learned literally. I don't know. Well, you just texted me 10 minutes ago. We were gonna do this podcast at 11 today September 12th We knew Sam was out for like some illness, but you detected he's out mono multiple weeks and Yeah, I like honestly just to even do this podcast is taking a lot in me It's just this is just it's getting too much and it's just absolute bullshit Who's our first rounder who's our number one guy our number one pickup in the offseason? Well, okay, number two pick up. Now who's our fucking starting quarterback? For fucking mono? Like break your leg, fine. Like do something heroic, but fucking mono? Fucking mono. Actually, I was gonna maybe make this podcast name mono, but we're in stereo. for you. Oh yeah, so true. Justin: Um... Yeah... Oh, I didn't even read the second one. Oh, I'm just going to keep going with this news for you. Can I just keep going? So, Laviom just reported that he's not practicing today because of his shoulder. He's going to get an MRI. And they think it's no big deal, but you never know until he gets an MRI. He's hopeful he'll just be playing week two, but he's not.- I mean, they were out of school for a couple weeks. The fucking kissing disease. Jake: The kissing disease. It's serious. My wife had it. And it is serious. By the way, we're in Studio One today, so you know who will be making it, that she's just warming up. She's pissed. She is so pissed. She's going after that cut-off right now.
03:03 Justin: Alright fine, layman, bell, shoulder, Quincy out for the year with a neck he's just out and this is his second neck injury. No he's done. He's probably done. Jake: Made a glass. Some, article came out saying he's the last of the Izzik 12. He is Justin: because he even missed his entire rookie year if you recall. I don't. Oh he did. The year he was drafted he did not play the first year because he was injured they put him on the ir his first year i.l whatever it's called yes and He didn't play his whole rookie year. He's really only played like two full seasons at a fine lead for like five. Yeah Yeah, so he's just I'm done. I like the guy He's really good at football, but fuck you gotta stay on the field part of being a football is staying on the field Jake: And I know that injury that you know to say that there is a true truth to people who get injured a lot and people who don't like that is not a thing and it's not. It's a totally a thing. It's well there is a thing about soft tissue and that some people's, every body is built differently and some people have you know genetically there's soft tissue they don't get soft tissue injuries as much as others. That's a thing. Then there's people who run differently or fall differently or just know how to hit. Justin: I don't even know what this is though. Knack. He gives a shit. He's out. It's his neck. Jake: Well, come on. Who gives a shit? Justin: His neck. Jake: No, I get it. I mean, I assume. It's just like from a jet standpoint, I'm just sick of it. Mosley. Groin. This third and fourth quarter, that's how we lost the game. We can go back and talk about that. Justin: Pretty much. We'll talk about the game in a minute, by the way. We will will get to the Bills game promise. Jake: And then our number one, number one pick in the draft, third pick overall also goes out like in, you know, when did they go out in the game? Don't even know. Just disappeared. Just sort of disappeared. Justin: Showed up in a boot and we don't know what's happening. We don't know what the ankle or the foot or whatever. Yeah. So that's like big names that we just listed, which doesn't even include Avery Williamson. Because, you know, when Mosley went out... It's like, okay, we just lost our starting middle linebacker. Well, actually, you already lost the other starting middle linebacker. That's your second mark. So you've got two backups in the game right now trying to close a game. And they couldn't. Jake: the Justin: So, alright, the game that was. Here we go. We were winning 16-0 through 3 quarters. That was cool. We had 4 turnovers, or forced 4 turnovers, to only turning the ball over 0 times.
06:03 Justin: It should be almost impossible to lose this game. Yet, the Jets... make it happen because that's what we do. Jake: We make the impossible possible when it comes to losing. It's just, I just, sorry. It's just amazing how fast you can go from having like really looking forward to this season to absolutely just in the shitter after one week. Justin: Wait, let me, let me, because I had a thing on that. Okay. All right. So this loss sucked. Right? It obviously sucks to release the bills, because they're the bills. They're in the division, which also extra sucks. And we had to beat, which really sucks. With that said, what happened last year in week one? I don't know. We beat the lines like 49 to 10 on national television. Oh, yeah. So, whatever. Jake: Yeah, except for you just now don't have your starting quarterback and we have to watch Seaman come out and play for three days. Good news, Jizz all over everyone. Start on a Monday freaking night. It's gonna be great. I'm a fan and you can push me as hard as you can but sometimes, this is one of those where I just like, I don't wanna fucking wanna go to the game. Like I'm just excited for Win, Lose or Draw. I was always excited to see our players play, to see Sam progress. But, literally seeing Sam, I don't even do, I mean, mono, Justin: you might not be on the fucking sidelines holding up. No, you're not going to see Sam. They're going to have to have another, they're going to have to bring up the quarterback from somewhere. And have him be the backup. And that's going to be that. You're not going to have Sam. Hopefully, we'll have a LaVeon. Hopefully, you will have CJ. And you'll see all the players, you just won't see Sam. We're playing with the backup. Jake: Well, again, we started this season by saying, you know, pretty clearly like, this happens. If I want to go to positive, positive Jake, which is a really hard, like we said, part of the who if your starter goes out for four weeks, as we said, if they go out for more than four weeks, you're done. Rogers goes out more than four weeks, that team is done. Whoever the fuck, Mahomes goes out for more than four weeks, that team is done. You're basically four weeks I think is your like, your little window that you can maybe sneak it in there and have them come back. Unless you're the Patriots. Fuck the Patriots. So, and what you really want is your quarterback is kind of split those games. Two and two. Make it out of that fucking little two and two. So we said that and we're like, do we think the simon could get us out of two and two? Justin: Well, yeah. We kind of said we could. My opinion is, I think he's going to play the next three games. I think he's going to play this game. And then we got the Pats and then like one other tough one. Jake: So we're going. Oh, and it was the gauntlet. Justin: Remember we said like, look, you got to get out of these first four games,
09:00 Justin: two and two, and you're just kind of hoping. Look, we were hoping we were going to win this Buffalo game and win the Browns game. So like, you got to win the Browns game. Back to this Bill's game. Oh, it's Patriots then bye. Yeah, but then there's another game. Let's hope we get him back in week five. So it's very possible that he comes back for that week, week five. So he's only going to miss. Let's hope two games. Hopefully just the two games. And maybe we didn't think we were going to win the Patriots anyway. No, we didn't. And so at the Patriots, week three, they look as good as ever. And now they have Antonio Brown. Hopefully not for very long. on. If you enjoyed this video, please like, share, and subscribe! I'll see you next time. Jake: Um, that's a joke. He'll be there all year. Have you seen all the allegations against him? Whatever. He'll be there all year. No, they're talking about putting him on the- Sure, sure. He'll be there all year. All right. Justin: I want to make a bet on that. I mean, why didn't that happen? Like, I don't know. Because it didn't come out. Because it didn't come out last week. Because- What are you waiting for? Because sometimes with people putting together the case. Jake: and they don't have a timeline for whatever. They put together their case with their lawyer and then they submit the case to the legal system and that's when it comes out. They don't like, oh, I'm gonna wait till week three. No, if you're putting a case against a celebrity, you do it at the time that you can do it Justin: for your lawyers to get it together. Anyway, so- Can we like focus here on the bills game? I still wanna just go back for a minute. Fine, let's go back. We had the game under control. Our offense did not look good. Nope. Maybe on bell looked good. No one else really looked good. Not Crowder looked good. Oh Crowder did look good. Thank you. Um, at least Darnell played like, sorta under control. Uh, didn't throw a pick. Didn't turn the ball over. Very high completion percentage, but everything was very short. Apparently that's what the Bills do They keep you in front of them. They're tough to get behind The tip a lot of balls like if you watch them like Sam had a lot of balls knocked down the blind scrimmage That's a thing that the Bills do. Yeah, there's a number one passing defense from last year And they brought a lot of guys back and they've been in that system. This is going on year three So, you know, I watched the post game live yesterday, I soaked it all in. Adam did. You watch the S&Y thing? You never do that. I know and I watched it, but I watched it because I wanted to see like how negative they were going to go and if they were going to give a little bit of a pass or point out some silver linings. And I wanted to, I wanted to watch the Adam gaze. interview or postgame. He looked right at you? No, he had a hat on, like very, you couldn't see his eyes even, he just had the hat down. But he made a good point and I think it's very valid and very fair. The Bills have, especially their defense, because their defensive, their head coach, McDermott is a defensive head coach. He came over from Carolina, coached that. coach that team into the Super Bowl as the defensive coordinator. He's very highly regarded as a defensive coach.
12:01 Justin: And he's just flat out said, he's like, those guys are playing. They're playing football. They've been in the system. They know what they're doing. They're just playing. We were thinking too much. We were not on autopilot. That's it. We're in a new system. We're doing all new things and we're thinking too much to play football. And that made a lot of sense to me coming out of Adam Gase's mouth. They don't get to practice enough. They don't play enough in the preseason. It's very clear Bart Scott made it very very Lucas made it clear. He's like who's the best coach in the league. Bill Belichick. Who plays all their players in week four of the preseason. Bill Belichick. Why? Because they need to fucking play together. Our offensive line never played together. Oh, they were terrible. Clearly! Well, pass walking, run walking, they were fine. No, they weren't! No, they really weren't. Because, because Labian Bell should run for more than 3.5 a carry. Because he's breaking nine yard carries, ten yard carries. That means he's got a lot of like negative yard carries. And even on that like fourth and one, you rewatch it. He was caught two yards behind in the backfield and he made it happen himself. Jake: Like I've been edging towards this and now I'm just gonna go full on. I don't like Gace. I don't like him at all. I'm calling on the full on record. I don't like him. You're so... No, I've been trying. I've been trying. No, no, no. No, no. No, come on. I've been trying to stick with this all. I've been trying to do a positive. You haven't tried anything. Yes, I have. Justin: He's coached one game poorly. You haven't tried. I tried. You've given him one game. So last year, after week one, you could have said, Fuck Sam Darnold. Hall of Famer. We did. Hall of Famer. We did. And this offensive coach, this guy baits. He's a genius. They just put up 49 points. Genius, this guy. We shouldn't fire him. What are we firing that offensive coordinator? He put up 49 points. In morning, would you trust? We put up 49 points in his first game ever as an offensive coordinator. What are we firing this guy for? Jake: Sure. I think you remember that game against the Lions. They gave us the first one. I think we had to pick six against them. We all know first game. I know. I pick six against us. I remember that play is burned in my memory, but we also went against it and they also had four turnovers. Justin: You put up that many. Oh, so did the bills, by the way. Yeah, but we didn't been 41. So they. Bates better than gays like is that where we want to if we're just basing up one game week one of season yeah That's what I'm basing on. Okay, so let's get that guy back. No Jake: Look it look do you think you have to just go on what you see don't go on your future potential This isn't a stock you own that you get to hold for 20 years go on right now What you saw on the field did you look at that offense and go yes, I see something special on the field Justin: I saw a really good defense beat our really bad offensive line and I saw us have no time to do anything. Jake: Okay. Justin: That's what I saw. I saw this fucking- You know what? Jake: Dink and dunk. Nothing fucking off base. Justin: No, no, no. Rewatch it. Rot it. Like with clear eyes so that you can actually watch what's going on and see how many times
15:04 Justin: Sam Darnold is sitting there throwing off his back foot. Running around, getting sacked, under pressure, throwing the ball having it knocked down. The little check downs are actually sort of smart. They're rushing the shit out of us. They're all hots. They're all hots to Crowder. He's just standing there four yards from the line of scrimmage wide the fuck open. Why not throw it to him? That's what he's being told to do. don't turn the ball over. He didn't turn the ball over. Jake: Oh, I like, I don't blame Sam for this. I just didn't, while watching the game, live, watching it in front of me, not tweeting, not texting, not whatever, I'm watching the game and I'm like, this offense just looks like shit. They were three and out, three and out, three and out, three and out, three and out. Justin: Three big plays that they missed to Robbie. All three would have been like touchdowns had they hit. One good play by the defender. Can't perfect throw Robbie's got catch that ball But good play by the defender any other receiver with not any but a lot top 15 receiver catches that ball No, that's Robbie's not top 15 anything. He's the top 15 skinniest guy in the league I got about it, but two of them. I'm gonna just throw on Robbie One was Sam overthrew him, and that shouldn't be ever. Like, you can't. Like, how do you overthrow one of the fastest guys in the league? Nope. It's because he stopped his route. He did. And he really did. And that's bullshit. And you shouldn't do that. Second was on the last drive of the game. Sam was under immense pressure, got out of it, and just chucked it down the field to Robbie who was wide open. Now Sam could get anything more on the ball. It would have been a touchdown because he was wide open. But he couldn't get anything on the ball because the guys were in his face, so he got it to him. Robbie's job in that situation is to stop and draw contact, right? Jake: Like... Justin: or stop and catch the ball. Like one or the other. But you have to stop. Like he didn't do any of the right things. He just sort of, he didn't attack the ball. And if he would have attacked the ball, the defender would have attacked him. And we would have, what would have happened? We could have maybe caught it and he got away and gets touchdown. He could have gotten the pass interference. There's so many things that could have happened. Instead, it was just a good defensive play. today. So our players just didn't make it happen. Sometimes it's not the coach. Sometimes the players have to fucking make a play. And there were three plays, I just pointed out, that were three touchdowns. By the way, our kicker missed the fucking extra point. Our kicker missed the goddamn field goal that we put him in position for. That's four points off the board. We lost by one. Yeah, cut. How many fucking kickers can we go through? Jake: He said this last... I said this on the podcast before. I said, I'm very worried that this fucking kicker situation, we're going to lose games because of it. We just lost the first game because of the kicker. We did. Sorry. That's the facts. Those two were gimmes. It would be 1717 at the very least.
18:01 Jake: Maybe you could have done something. Yeah, I mean, so you have to feel a little fine. Whatever. You're not allowed to miss a field goal a season or two. Justin: You're not allowed to miss the first field goal of the first fucking game. That's not true what you just said because historically the best kickers in the NFL are in the high 80s in terms of field goal percentage. Maybe the low 90s, maybe 91, but that's like Hall of Fame level. Okay, so you're not missing one or two field goals a year. I don't know what planet you live on. but that's not the case. Secondly, it was like a 50 yard or so, whatever. But, no, the guy shouldn't fucking be missing extra points, especially his first one. Like, you have to make that. You have to prove you should be on the team. And if you can't do that, then goodbye. And he's gone, goodbye. Got a new kicker. Great. Maybe he'll be with us next week. Maybe you won't. Jesus. The fuck knows. There's plenty of kickers. All right, pick your fool again. I'm done with this fucking game. Okay I'm thinking Robbie Anderson. I think he fucked up. I think he could have made some plays and just didn't and I Could pick a lot of guys, but I'm gonna pick on a skill player. I'm gonna pick him Well, I'm clearly gonna pick the fucking kicker. Yeah, carry but carries Jake: Let's go kind of kind of not gonna be here anymore. No, I'm gonna be getting ready cuddy Velocas one last thing about this game By the way, let's just go back to Josh Allen as being a... I mean, look at his stats at the end, but at the beginning, the first half, that guy could do nothing. He could do nothing. He was just throwing picks. Justin: Well, he did complete like a lot of short passes. He did at the end of that. No, in the beginning, like he was... We were just keeping him in front. Jake: Like... Justin: Three, five, seven yard passes. Fine, go, fine, take it. And he didn't know what he was doing either. Like they were running a college bullshit offense. Like he would run up to the line of scrimmage, stand there, defense would be there. And then they would like switch everything up because the coaches were still like talking to him. In the... they can do that up to a certain time. 10 seconds. They were like reading the defense for him. He's an idiot. I'm convinced. But he does have physical capabilities of running and like getting out of things. One bad thing. This was straight out of the... One bad thing. Well, really bad thing. Straight off the post game. Two leading tacklers for the Jads were... Tremaine Johnson and Daryl Roberts. Yeah, that means they're way in the secondary. Well, no. What that means is their guys just caught the ball all day. Yeah. Like, that's it. Our corners can't fucking cover. Our corners can't cover. Our offensive line can't block. We have big problems. Wanna go back to your 12 and was it 12 11 11 that was before Sam got mono, you know, okay now Sam's motto is gonna be here I'm gonna that's that's a big that's a big problem. That's a big problem Jake: Your corners your our corners are bad. Well, let's talk about the thing. We haven't even mentioned bad
21:03 Jake: We lost Quincy, but like before Quincy went out all of a sudden we did something. I don't even remember with us doing since Justin: Curtis Martin. We're getting there. We're getting there. Okay. Well this happened before. Okay fine. We're getting to our roster moves. Roster moves We have a kicker. Don't care. We made a trade with the Patriots. That's just insane and apparently we knew We knew about Quincy. About Quincy and we just didn't let anyone else know yet Jake: Okay, .0001 for the coaching staff because that's usually, Quincy goes out, because then you lose all your bargaining power. Like, Quincy didn't miss anything during the game. That's the thing. No, I understand, but I'm saying for my, like when you're trading, when you're trading with a trading partner, you don't wanna go from point of weakness. Like, we need a guy, because then they go, well, yeah, you need a guy. Versus, hey, you just picked up Antonio Brown. down. It looks like you got too many guys in your roster. Hey, we'll take that Demerits Thomas off you. They were cutting him anyway, Justin: so I think we just- It just guarantees us getting him. Yeah, we just cut the waiver wire and just said forget it. Jake: We had two for a sixth rounder in not the next draft, but the draft after 2021. I think a fifth rounder. Oh, six. Justin: And the 2021 draft. Jesus I mean now it looks fine. It's like okay. We'll have this guy for this year. I guess I guess He just takes Quincy spot. I Jake: Mean, I'm happy because it's one of the things I said when we're talking about the wide receiver core I think we need the big guy there needs to be someone big and you're like that's her did well her didn't is on the field and the other guy, 84, whatever his name is. Griffin, he dropped balls. He dropped like a couple as I recall. Justin: One, two. No, she's just not. He's not. Herden. Herden is good. So I kind of like this from a, Jake: I mean, I have no idea what this guy's got back in tank. I mean, I'm putting on my, oh my god, Denver. Now, did he work with Gace in Denver? Yeah, they know each other. Okay. All right. Well, that's kind of fun too. That's a little fun. Not a lot fun, because nothing about this is a lot fun. No, nothing. But that's a little fun. Absolutely nothing's about this is fun. All right, you sure you want to talk about the fantasy league? You can talk about it. I don't really care. Yeah, because again, once Justin loses, he stops caring. Don't care at all. I don't care. Well, I mean, what's bad for you is you got your ass handed to you in two leagues. Just we don't talk about the other league. Thank you. But yes, so follow the taco taco. Won his first mic team. Won against your team in the league. So we now have a... let's see, I was going to go to my league home here. What did I play? Oh, I played the Jess D, which was looking really good at the beginning. And I guess it ended up pretty good. It scored a touchdown, so it should be good. And safety.
24:00 Jake: Did we get the safety? So that's a lot for like, you know. All right, so let's see here. BGU, who else won? Tank Exchange won over Martial Flock, pretty big. Revenge of the Sanchez, is that Sanchez? Lactose Intolerance, funny. Some low scoring games, man, this is a, but. The big cat little cannon, not a good name, crushed through the wire, the returning champion. So this week I'm on against the wedding boy, uh, New York Tank Exchange, so that'll be kind of fun. I don't know why we're still tanking. Are we still tanking at this point? It's just a good name, I think. Um, and then in the pick-um, geez. I think I'm in last place. Yeah, oh yeah you are. You're in last place. This was in first. Don't listen to me. Who's in first? I don't know. Who's in first? You? Yeah. Justin: Well, I'm good for you. Jake: 11 and five. Coming out of the gate strong. That's pretty funny. If my team had won, I think I would have been one of the best week ever. I won two fantasy leagues, I won two pick-ums. Like, it was great. Except for actual Jets. Crapping the bed and our shared team grabbed the bed But I'm involved in crap. Pretty much actually pretty much anything. I wasn't going up against. Oh man Justin: All right. Well, I'm gonna kick your ass this week Probably not Jake: I made my picks. I made my picks ready to go. Let's go for the let's go for the checking the pick Um, remember for those new people we pick every week we pick with the spread We pick everything in the AFC, everything without the AFC East, then we come back and do AFC East a little bit more in depth. I guess we'll talk about those past games when we talk about them. But let's go for it. Justin: All right, cool. Thursday night. That's tonight. Yeah, got a game. We got Carolina hosting Tampa. This is the game that nobody on the planet watches unless you have fantasy. So it's a division game. I mean, it's it and Cam Newton Me too McCaffrey James Winston. Yeah, it's unlike interesting dudes out there. Okay. Yeah, that's good for you Yeah, well, Caroline is favored by six and a half. I Like that. I like Carolina at home Tampa's not that good. Todd Bulls is on that coaching staff. Jake: Yeah, he's certainly no Adam Gase. Anyway, I'll take Carolina as well to cover. All right, let's get to Sunday. Justin: By the way, how many four o'clock? One, two, three, only three, four o'clock. We, so early in the season to be so early. Heavy on the one o'clock. Yeah. Anyway, this line was weird. Cincinnati's hosting San Francisco. And it it really has fluctuated. Cincinnati's favored by one and a half. I I guess coming off of a strong showing on the road in Seattle, but.
27:01 Justin: They were predicted to be one of the worst teams in the league, and I don't think they're very good anyway. I'm gonna pick San Francisco and the one and a half. Jake: I am gonna take San Francisco. I think since he's terrible. A little worried about the going on the road piece, but I'll take, I'll still say San Fran. Justin: All right, we get the Chargers at Detroit. charges on the road by two and a half I'm gonna take Detroit at home. I like I like that one Jake: I'll take the Chargers they were rolling on was it Sunday afternoon they're rolling. Yeah, we're rolling I think they'll continue to roll and Detroit is what I consider a bad team. So I'll take Chargers on the road Justin: Green Bay is hosting Minnesota. Green Bay played a really crap game on the Thursday opener. It's garbage. 10-3. That's not fun. 10-3. And they had the, you know, kind of the extra little added time to get themselves together. So I think that that little extra added time after like the first week of getting pounded for real. Extra little time to recover. I think that makes a difference. So Green Bay favored by three at home. I'll take Green Bay over Minnesota. Yeah, I don't like it Jake: Oh this I I'm too. I think Minnesota is pretty good. I'd have to think I think miss I was pretty good Here it is. I know this is not my own original idea. They should do away with preseason all together. Just it's done. You then create the season as 18 games. Just add two more games and that's it. And at least those two first games which are going to suck, they're going to be 10 threes and 17 16s and 39 10s or 59 10s. That's what's going to happen. But at least they'll count. And at least you'll be playing them because you want to play them and because they count towards the season. Pre-season doesn't count, Justin: that's why people don't play. Let me add a fun wrinkle to that that I've heard before. Jake: Which is that players can only play 16 games. Not an original idea. I don't like that. That's a good one. That's just stupid. Why? Justin: Guys get hurt? It's really simple. It's like you're hurt We're still only eligible for 16. But if you're hurt you don't play anyway, right? But what I'm telling you is that it keeps your eligibility alive to play for 16 whole games If you're hurt in the regular season you are not playing 16 games. I gotcha. I gotcha.
30:00 Justin: Okay, I justtin G. I just like. Leveon Bell with his little shoulder. Maybe he plays maybe he doesn't inconsiderately. But he'd be like hey, you know what maybe you don't play week two. out. We could have held you out in the same room but we're going to hold you out now. Right. Because we don't want that thing. Yeah, I guess. It's all fantasy. It's not real. So I just I just think the hope the point of preseason Jake: The reason people don't play is is because it doesn't matter just make the games matter and we're gonna see shitty games Justin: But we're here or guess what like maybe someday someone will just fucking figure out that You're gonna suck if you don't play in the preseason. And then they'll be like, well, you know what? It doesn't actually matter because we can go like one in three and still make the playoffs and that's all we actually care about. Okay. Someone can do that. Until someone figures that out. Jake: I'm taking Minnesota. Justin: Okay. Tennessee, who looked great. Uh, oop, uh, home against Indy. Favored only by three. I like Tennessee. Tennessee all day, twice a day. Jake: Okay. Buffalo stays in New York. What? What are you talking about? You're talking about Buffalo is in the AFC East? Wow, you're, maybe you needed a preseason. Shit. Hold on. Hold on. Justin: All I saw was the giant and then I was like... I think they're gonna win by three. I think they're gonna win but not cover so I'll take Seattle. Jake: I have two of takes, Seattle. They were not looking terrible. I think Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh might actually be terrible. Justin: We're not. There might be. Seattle's thing so Here's good division game one o'clock weird Dallas at Washington would have thought that would have been a four Dallas on the road favored by four and a half Washington did not look inept. I will take Washington Jake: Dallas looks like they were they look they played an inept teen they did they destroyed the Giants But they they looked good Like they looked like they had, they looked like they were playing. Like you had players could hit out players out in the open and they just run in for touchdown. It's like, oh, that looks like a team that's been practicing or whatever. So I'll take Dallas. Justin: All right. Baltimore with the best quarterback of last year's draft class, apparently is hosting Arizona. but that's quarterback in the team draft class. Baltimore favored by 13 and a half and I think that that's a severe overreaction. I know Arizona didn't kick into gear until like kind of the second half of that game in Detroit but once they did it was a fun game and they really came alive
33:05 Justin: at the end there. So 13 and a half is way too much for a team that just showed they can roar on back. Back door cover if nothing else. I'll take Arizona. Totally great. Thirteen's too much. Alright, last one o'clock. Houston is hosting Jacksonville. Houston is favored by nine and a half. I like Houston. Man, that's a Sean Watts-then. When he had to go down the field, two plays. Bang, bang. Done. But I guess when you have like good receivers like Hopkins and you just throw it out there and he just makes a catch. Awesome. just that's the difference. Jake: You throw it out there and the guy makes the catch, makes the catch. Makes the catch. And he doesn't make the catch. Justin: Right, makes the catch. So I'll take Houston, I think it's a little nice. I have Houston also, cause Jacksonville's got this guy I never heard of playing quarterback. Yeah, that's the piece. That's the difference between when you sign Nick Foles to be your starter and not your backup, and then you don't go get a real backup because your starter's kind of a backup. Right. So you don't want him competing because you just signed him to a big deal. I will take this one. They'd be better off of Blake Bortles. Probably. They would be. Where is he now? Jake: I don't even know but he led him to the playoffs before. Justin: Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Alright. Next. Alright. 4 o'clock. Here, we come. Kansas City at Oakland. Oakland's prize victory. Yeah. I didn't watch it. Jake: Me neither. Neither is too late. But, uh, Kansas City... Too late for you. Too late. Yeah, it's not a thing. Justin: I mean, 1030 Jake: Featured on hard knocks quite a bit. He's out. Casey take Casey. It's all it came down from nine. I'm gonna take Casey I think they'll cover by ten at least Justin: Yeah, it came down because the line was It was released before that Monday night so It went from nine to seven and a half. Probably thinking Oakland was gonna lose. All right, uh, Chicago at Denver. Chicago's favored by two and a half on the road and I like them. I think I can't see them being 0 and 2. That's the thing. Jake: I watched that Thursday night or at least I watched the first half of it because I was only half the score at any points. Wasn't super impressed with Mitch the trips. Justin: Whatever. Yeah, he's another one who really did not do anything in preseason that offense did nothing in preseason You just didn't even play you didn't even play like week three. I don't get that shit. Yeah, I don't get hurt It's a no win situation. It really is no win. Yeah. Well, guess what Sam played all preseason and now he has mono So you didn't get hurt playing football. Yeah, but if you did get hurt
36:03 Jake: We blame the cut. There's it's a no win situation. That's why I just think do away with it. All right. Because it's no way. I got shot. Oh, my God. I think we don't think we've picked one again. Yeah, like one or two. God crap. I got mad. Justin: Denver's offense is terrible. Joe Flacco. I mean, come on. All right. This to me is like the game of the week. The Rams are hosting New Orleans. I wish this was Sunday night. But it's 425. This is the rematch of the championship game, right? Where the rule change and all that shit happened because New Orleans, you know, got fucked. Totally fucked. And for that reason, the Rams are favored by two and a half at home, but I'll take New Orleans to absolutely dominate them. Oh, I don't think so. Oh, I do. I don't think so. I'll take the amps. Oh, I do. I think New Orleans is gonna go in there with quite the chip on their shoulder. It basically the same team. It's the same guys that just got knocked out of the Jake: playoffs two years in a row like shit. Totally agree. If this were at home, I'd say it'd be 41-30. That Ram stadium means a lick of anything. It means something to the team. So I think they'll pull it out and win. Justin: Okay, all right Sunday night we got Philly at Atlanta Philly favored on the road Sunday night Because Atlanta looks like poo poo. Yeah, I think they're home though. I'm gonna go with Atlanta. I'm gonna go with Philly I'm gonna go Philly to keep rolling. We'll skip Monday cuz we're gonna talk about it. Yeah, we love right now right now How'd we do last week? We both went two and one we both missed the Jets game, of course But our scores were not accurate. We're way the fuck off. Jake: Well, no, look, I think actually my, I mean, close. My Baltimore score was close. Justin: You had Baltimore blowing Miami out, at least. I had them close. Pittsburgh, we both had New England winning close. That clearly was not the case. And then we both had the Jets scoring in the 20s and beating the Bills, but we both had the Bills scoring 17, which is accurate. All right. So we got the bill score right. We just got the jet score wrong. Both of us. All right, let's do this. So New England is going to Miami and Miami just lost like 50 something to nothing or whatever. I gotta stop counting. When Lamar Jackson just goes absolutely ape shit on you in the air. We'll see you next time. Boo Problems either like planning prepare problems or your players suck or probably more like both We all knew Miami was tanking. They're clearly tanking they are bad yep, and Maybe Baltimore Lamar Jackson's better than we thought maybe one game though who knows no some last year
39:00 Justin: Yeah, but he never threw So I'm playing the playoffs he threw just as many touchdowns in this game as he threw last year in all the games Jake: Browns look fucking smart though at this point you looking like this guy's going like oh wow Then you let flacko go and did all this stuff in oh wow Justin: The Ravens yeah, I'm sorry the Ravens. Yeah, I mean they traded back up into the first to pick them Yeah, it looks good right now Jake: Right this minute. Yeah, and New England of course took it to, I mean, talk about bad football. I mean, was it 33-3 or something? Yeah, it was bad. It's just Steelers? Three points? And that's without Justin: Antonio Brown. Right. Well, on either team. On either team. Well, he was never gonna be on the Steelers. Right. But that's without... What would be Tom Brady's best weapon right didn't even need and he scored 30 points I don't actually think that'll be a big factor in this game Jake: I don't think that that's the way the Patriots are that you can just plug and play this guy in I think he'll be there I don't think it'll look crazy. I wouldn't even think he would have whatever he's just gonna be he's gonna pull coverage Yeah, but I don't think he'll Do much. If I were playing in fantasy, I'd be very careful because Belichick isn't that guy. He's not just be like, oh, here we go. Belichick is going to play his plan. Okay, you're a talented guy. Fine. He might get suspended before that game anyway. So I totally, I don't think that Brown is a big factor in this game. I do think there is the one thing which is actually historical. First of all, the dolphins usually play the Patriots really tight. In Miami. And they usually split with them in the season. Justin: They usually win this one game. And after that, what's the other thing that always happens to them? The former Belichick coaches generally beat them that first year. There you go. So I think this with all that said, with all that said, Jake: you're definitely going to win, but they're not going to win. Justin: I don't think they're going to win by 19. That's just to 19 is like, how high can we make this line to see if people will actually put money on Miami? I know 19, 19, I guess 19. Because they couldn't go to 20 or 24. Even I got the Pats winning this one. closer than I would actually normally pick it due to what we just said, 27, 13. I'll take a pass 33, 19 for the 19 points spread. So normally I would have picked this like 40, like 41, 13, like just throwing two more touchdowns on there, but that's where I'm bringing the That's all I have for you today. Like, oh, the pots don't play well in Miami and the former coach thing. Jake: It's gonna be hot as shit. Is it a one o'clock? Uh, yeah, these are one o'clock. It's gonna be hot as shit in Miami. That actually affects people. They put them in the sun. Yep. And the pitcher's been, well, the pitcher's been playing in semi-hot weather. It's hot up here. But it's not 95 in humidity. No, it's not Miami. Um, so yeah, I think they'll keep it close.
42:00 Jake: And I wouldn't be if you... Fast forward to Monday and you said, oh, the Dolphins won. Justin: I'd be like, oh, it wouldn't surprise me at all because the Pats, as we know, they tend to go like two and two, two and three, three, two. Jake: Also got embarrassed. And I think there's a team thing. Actually, if this team blows it again, let's say it's 33, three or something like that or 40 to 10, like they just get embarrassed again. I mean, that says a lot about coaching because. You get embarrassed, you should get, you put the chips on your shoulder and be like, Justin: we will not get embarrassed again. Yeah, I mean, you should. But then again, you have the horses or you don't. And they just traded a bunch of them away. I know. You know, like, either have the players, like, the Pats have one of the best rosters in the league. Like, how are you gonna fuck with that? Alright, Buffalo at... Buffalo at the Giants double team being in this stadium Stadium different color scheme for this game, I guess alright, the The the Giants are at home and they're underdogs. The Bills are favored on the road Jake: Oh, at this point they've played every game in the season in wildlife. Justin: Might as well be their home. So I just watched the Bills play. Yep, go figure. Saw some of that Giants game. Saw a little bit of it. The Bills are better than the Giants. The Bills defense is far superior than the Giants offense. That's for sure. Totally sure. That Giants offense is... Really fucking terrible And Shepherd is not gonna be playing. He's hurt again. Okay. He's another one that never gonna be healthy So there's no weapons there's Evan Ingram and Saquon the best but look I mean They just played a team like that with where the running back is the guy and the Bills did a pretty good job. So I think the Bills will score slightly more than they scored against us 20 and the Giants will score slightly less than we scored 10. Jake: I actually think that for all the reasons we said about Miami New England games. Giants got embarrassed on the road. This is their home opener. There is going to be a little bit more rust off the old train. Bills are playing back-to-back road games. And the way that the Cowboys won, from what I could see, I was playing a bunch of seven games at the same time. But they were just torching their, you know, torching the secondary. They're just throwing the ball. Dakos is like, Oh, a Marry Cooper. There you go. Kaboosh. There you go. There you go. Kaboosh. That's not a Josh Allen thing. That's not what he's going to do. He doesn't have that talent. He's not going to place a ball 40 yards down in in stride with the guy and have him go in for touchdown. He's just not going to do it. So I think that kind of matches up well. Like I don't think there's going to be a problem with that. Justin: That's not going to be their game plan.
45:01 Justin: But here's the thing. Jake: Here's the thing. I actually think the Giants are not going to. They're not going to go 0-2. I think they'll win. I think the Buffaloes come off a big win. If you look at my score, it makes sense. I think the Giants are going to win 17-16 at home against the Buffaloes. I'll say this one thing. Justin: You pick 17-16 and that's fun, but Zeke's now been in practice. Like, as opposed to he just played in that game because he just showed up like the day before. No, they only give him the ball like 10, 12, 13 times. That's not gonna be the case. Buffalo is going to take it to the Giants. I think that the Giants can be run on, is what I'm trying to say. I think it's actually harder to throw on them. I saw the Buffalo turn over the ball four times. I think it's harder to throw on the Giants than it is to run on them. That's my opinion. Great. We'll see. We'll see. All right. Let's get to our games. Our game. Monday night. So we close out the week. Jake: I could not be less interested in this fucking game. I just want to let you know right off the top. I could not be less interested. Literally, I just I'm sitting here. Do you want to just shut the fuck up then, and I'll just talk about it and you just sit there? No, I'm pissed. As a fan, I'm just fucking pissed. I'm fucking pissed that like. That's it. All I want to do this season is see my players play and I'm not seeing my players play again It's like another fucking season of seeing backup quarterbacks This is like forever how many seasons in a row have we had our backup quarterbacks? So I have to go watch play meaningless games. All right, go ahead. I'm just I'm just trying to Justin: Look at just seeing what's happening in terms of news. And if anything else is happening just while we're on the yeah I mean, it's happening so fast. So Yeah, everything out there is just Sam's got mono. He's definitely out this week. Nathan Sheppard suspended six games. Jake: That's a huge thing. We have Sam the Kickin' Fickin' as our kicker. First of all, I like Fickin' as a kicker name. A chicken. Because he's Kickin' Fickins. And... I just I can't I cannot I cannot I cannot- this fucking game. I can't believe we're gonna fucking have fucking Trevor Justin: Trevor Samian as our as our starter on- Jizzing all over the place, baby It's just several weeks that's what Gace is saying now could miss several weeks good We have two days said darnold was alarmed by how much weight he lost in the last few days Shitting himself out. I Mean he might been sick during the game Who the fuck knows? I mean, honestly does mono just hit you like that on a Wednesday like I don't know. I don't know how that works. All right. Let's talk about Cleveland. Jake: What what is the keys to beating? So the key that this is the thing about Cleveland. We're just talking about this.
48:00 Justin: They just got they just got embarrassed, embarrassed. So they just played against Tennessee, which we said Tennessee kind of kicked their ass. So Tennessee ran on them from what I gather and and scored some opportunistic. points. So like Derek Henry for example had a crazy amount of yards on one catch. He had a 75 yard catch. They're running back. The screen pass. So you know they were able to run on them. They were able to with Mariota like get big chunk plays. Like there's... They have two plays that they did for over 50 yards. That's a lot in one game. So you've got to be able to do that. And then it would appear as though the Titans were able to put a bit of a stranglehold on Cleveland's run game, which. kind of let them play differently against the weapons. And in my opinion, the weapons for the Browns are the receiving core. You got Odell Beckham out there is dangerous as shit. You got Landry out there who's, you know, you saw what Crowder could do in the slot. Landry is better than Crowder. He does those same things. Yep. and they have a tight end who can play in in Joku. So you've got these three weapons that are out there, and if Mosley's not back, you've got backup middle linebackers, you've got our corners suck. That's the problem. So I think... Me, personally. I think Jamal Adams needs a position change. Is that a corner? No, no, no. Jamal Adams needs to be playing linebacker for this team. He needs to be more all over the field, in the middle. Unless, cause what they do is they'll put him in the box, but he's outside. He's like lined up in the box, but he's like over the tight end. Or like on the line of scrimmage blitzing. Well if CJ Moseley can't play, I'd rather have Jamal Adams in there than this guy Cashman and Rontes Miles just playing strong safety. I know Rontes Miles could play strong safety. He can make those plays. I'd rather just have more talented players on the field. Because Jamal can do things from the middle linebacker position I think I've never seen him do it, but he's a really goddamn good football player I'd like to see that and that's a change of That'd be a big change to throw at Baker like right off the bat You got a guy in there who can cover and run and move and do the things Also, Greg Williams is familiar with both the quarterback and the system, I think, will help. His familiarity with those offensive linemen will help, and his familiarity with what the defense, like the personnel, and what they're capable of doing.
51:01 Jake: It's not the same system, obviously, but their capabilities would have been nice if he could give that information to our starting quarterback. Would have been nice. But that'll be Trevor Simeon. Okay, so what are you picking? Justin: You haven't written it down here, I know. Oh yeah, I didn't write it down, because I didn't want you to see it. Okay. You're picking against the Jets. Backup quarterback's hard to win on Monday night, but man. Jake: The legend of Trevyn Seaman is... Justin: Simeon to Demerius Thomas! I mean, we saw it like four years ago. It's an awesome combo. They know each other. Oh man, I've got to make this fucking pic. Oh, I'm going to have the Jets win. Fuck it. We can't score in the 20s though, because that's not going to happen. So we've got to keep Cleveland to 16 and we've got to score 17, 20, 20 to 16 New York Jets who are, by the way, home. um dogs were getting two and a half points at home on Monday night and that's now that's right now this line's about to pop to like six and a half I imagine easily easily five and a half now I won't it won't go over a touchdown I don't think I think it might teeter at six and a half it's a guess I think the starting quarterback is worth three points Yep. When they're not Tom Brady, like if they're Tom Brady, it's probably worth like 10 points. Just see if these have them, if there's a way that they're popping right now. Oh, there definitely is. I can pull it up on my phone. Oh, okay. Jake: Just go on DraftKings or something. Justin: The game might be off, I have no idea, Jake: but we'll see. Maybe. Let's see, open. ways. Anyway, all right. So your pig, what's going on? I pick first of all, there's no fucking way that jets are winning this game. Ha ha. There's just no fucking way. I'm sorry. Sometimes you just can't take enough blows. You can't lose both linebackers. You can't lose your your your defensive lineman. You can't lose. You have your your number one running back backed up. You can't lose your fucking quarterback and you can't have a shitty offensive coordinator. and head coach, I think there was shit he did even in last game that there were things he should have called, he didn't call No He didn't throw the flag on two plays, thought he should have Should not have saw them Okay, my opinion But that being said, I don't pick against the Jets because I'm not going to do that So we'll win by hell or high water There'll be something that happens, that'll be a miracle I hope they get fucking time and gunnery back on the fucking field having him two times He was out there, I think, for the first series, and maybe never was back on the field the entire time. He had two carries. Get him back on the field. That whole like, let's change it up. Oh my God, I got Belle, Montgomery, what you gonna do now? They did that once, maybe twice, and then they just went away from it. They just gave up.
54:00 Jake: But that's part of being a good offensive coordinator. You don't give up on it, you come back to it a couple times, and then you set something else up. But bad offensive coordinators go, oh, that didn't work in the first fucking series. Let's just never try it again. Okay, thanks. So I'm going to say Jets will win. Don't know how to fucking do it. It'll be miracle, lightning will strike, it'll kill the entire team, the Browns team, they'll be poisoned. Sam Darnell will go mouth kiss every player before the game, they'll all get mono. The whole Browns team, they'll all get mono, they won't be able to play. Jets win 25-20. I don't fucking know how, but I can't pick against them. I'm just not gonna do it. Justin: I don't care. The line is six. Jake: Same went to six. Two and a half to six. I mean we used to laugh our fucking head off about Trevitz. Justin: Semen. Semen. Semen. Jake: Not because of his name, but that was funny. Yeah, that was a lot. But because he was terrible. Like we're all, you know, I know we're all trying to be like positive jazz fans like, oh, he's an okay quarterback, he looks okay in preseason, but the reality was he wasn't any good. He wasn't any good. He's a backup for a reason. If we can make it, if we can make it out of this little stretch and maybe win this game, we're going to lose the Patriots game fine. Like literally, I don't even wanna show up for the game. Can we just say no, we're all gonna rest. The whole fucking team's just gonna rest. We're gonna play our backups. Like, Belle, you rest. Everybody's gonna rest, we're not gonna play the game. And then we get to come back in week five. We don't get fucking turning back until six, right? No, it would be five. Four, three's are by, four, he'd come back in week five. Justin: No. Thank you. No, because it's the bye. V6. No. You're not... you're really good at math. I'm surprised you can't do this. I am good at math. I'm frustrated. No. Our bye is week four. Which means week five is game four. He comes back with six. He comes back versus Dallas. Okay. Anyway, let's get out of here. Jake: I'm so frustrated. I can't fucking tell you. Fucking Mono. Like literally that's where we are. I said it on the thing before. If the Jets didn't have bad luck, they'd have no fucking luck. Justin: Welcome to potential Owen Six. Well just look at it, we already lost our own one. You've got this now, this debacle with Cleveland, who could be tough, who knows. Jake: They're gonna be brutal. Well they just got their ass kicked so... Ooh, they're gonna give, by the way, on Monday night, they're giving away. This is the only reason I'm fucking going to the game. One of the reasons... Justin: This is not the only reason you're going to the game. Jake: Yes, I'm going for one reason. What are they giving away? Because they're giving away the stealth black rally towel. Justin: Oh, I want that. Jake: Yeah, I want that. Great. And I'm gonna wear my all black. Justin: Of course I'm wearing my all black. But Cleveland, but again, if you wanna play like overreaction theater, let's do it. Let's do it. Cleveland fucking sucks. Sure.
57:00 Justin: Like Cleveland fucking sucks. They just got their fucking ass smacked 43-13 by Tennessee of all teams. Yep. So Cleveland blows two. You know who doesn't blow? Their offense blows, they scored 13 points. The next four appointments don't blow. Well, here's the thing. Patriot Cleveland, Eagles, Jake: E.E. Cleveland really sucks. New England's fine. Justin: One and one. Jake: Philly had a really hard time with Washington. Justin: ,. Right? Like, why should Philly have a hard time with a team that was supposed to be a basement dweller in Washington? I don't know. Like, they let Washington put up 27 points? Case Keenum? Listen. Case Keenum? It's 27 points. It is not so you want to overreact in all the ways so Philly's not that fucking good either Jake: Yes, I'm over actors over action his case Keenan. I mean, but I'm not overreacting about a loss I'm overacting about listen if the just were full roster come in since I'd be like we're gonna fucking crush the Browns finally lost Justin: 1617 bullshit the blame you overreacted you were like fucking days is terrible. Yeah, the worst. I didn't say use the worst Did he just hit should kitchens be gone off of Cleveland does he terrible I don't know I Mean that was his first game coaching as fucking ass smack gave up 43 points. His name is kitchens. Yeah, he's an offensive guru. He was the coordinator last year. Jake: Again, no points with Odell Beckham. I sat here looking across the face and I said something that you went because it's the first time ever, because you agree with me, you're like shit. Yeah, I saw no creativity out there. Great, the Buffalo Bills are the greatest defense that ever came across the world, and that's why their past defense is amazing. So we'll see this week, we'll see. No, because the next week, well, the browse defense is pretty good. Then the Patriots, Patriots defense is pretty good. Then the bye week, well, the bye week defense is pretty good. it. then the Eagles like which defense is definitely which defense are you looking down the field that you're going to say that defense blows chunks and we should put up 60 points on which one dolphins week nine and we've we've done we've nine okay so we have to wait till week nine to save gazes to actually have a good defense offensive plan i think you're gonna see it progress week to week to week to week. I know you and I know you're being super positive, which is, I know, because it's early in the season you love this, but I know you watched that game and watched that offensive game plan and you didn't see anything that you're like, and you see this better than I see it. So if I see it, that means it's a fucking big red turd sitting in the field. And I was like, I don't see it. Where's anything that's even interesting here?
1:00:05 Justin: You know you You can't just throw five offensive linemen on a field with a second-year quarterback and expect it to all go well, having never played together before. Jake: Wait, the offensive line has now played a whole game together and they got an experience back up back there, so we should see the top blown off this week. I don't think so. No, it's gonna be bad. Justin: Yeah, and then that's gonna be the excuse and we'll be sitting there I think but why can you sit here right now and understand that that is actually true? It's an opinion. Well, I'm true opinions aren't true opinions are just opinion. Why can you sit here? Yeah, and say bird you can say with There's some truth to the You have a backup quarterback and an offensive line who've never played together. That's not... Yes, that's the truth that... But that's the way they have. They practiced in preseason together. No. No, they didn't. They've never played together. The whole quality. The whole set. Yes. That's right. They're a unit. The five of them need to play together as one with now a quarterback that they've never played with. Factually correct. Why should we think that that's gonna be like... Good thing like that's not a good thing never a good thing if things happen Jake: It's lucky if you if you're offense. This is the thing we're gonna give this fucking guy a pass He's these offensive guru, but I'm just saying one week. I've seen the guru on the field Justin: I still don't understand how you can sit here and understand that it is bad that Offensive linemen don't play together. Yes got it And how you can sit here and not see how that impacts the gurus-ness. Jake: He's not a guru enough to play around an offensive line. How do you do that? Do you know his offensive line is terrible? No. Houston. Terrible. Do you know who almost got sacked a thousand times and hit down a thousand times? Fucking Deshaun Watson. Who are they playing? Some shit team. Okay, but we weren't playing a shit offense. Justin: We'll see! Sorry, we weren't playing a shit defense. We're playing a number one defense. From last year. Yeah, that's right. With the same guys back in the same exact system that they've been in for three years. So you, we will not know. The Rex Ryan defense you knew was gonna be good. Jake: We won't know until we have a good offense until one week. Just let me know so I can wait until that week. Justin: Hey dude, in year two of that system, didn't you know that that was going to be a good defense? You had Dorell Rivas out there. You had Bart Scott out there. You had like Liz on the field. Yeah, no shit. I didn't see any on offense either. I saw one guy, Le'Veon Bell, who knew what he was doing. And he's been on the team for all of literally no time. And Prouder. Another guy who knew what he was doing. But no one else. Robbie looked lost. Quincy was actually lost. He wasn't even there. Target once, I think. Tiedine missing. There's nothing there.
1:03:00 Justin: I'm just warning you. And if the guy had some time, maybe it'd be a little different. Jake: I'm warning you. I don't see it. Didn't see it week one. I'm hoping to see it. Blow my socks away. I picked them to win. 25 points. Show me you can put up 25 points. Gace. All right, wrapping it up. Here we go. Until next week... Oh, geez. Yeah, we'll be late in the week because we have money in that game. Is Justin and Jake saying... Let's go, Jans. you
