03 Jake: This is episode 71 of the Jet Kingdom Podcast for Wednesday, April 21st, 2010. Prime Time Draft. Justin: of the women. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast as always is Jake sitting here on the other side of a pretty long digital aisle, but that's okay because joining me tonight for the first time in nope every single time the last 71 times a good friend just in just an idea of I'm doing well you are in enemy territory my friend yes for I'm always in any territory I'm in in matter speaking so we got a big show on us that we have nothing to talk about too bad Justin: you know I really going on with the NFL these days It's been really quiet. No trades, no new accusations. Jake: No election rapes, nothing. I was more to think of like the schedule, the draft, and That's it, beneath that. So, that's a pretty big deal. Justin: 70's not that big of a deal, it's just a round number. I think 75 is more of a big deal, and then maybe 100 we have like a party. Jake: Well 100 I was trying to do the math to see if we'd get to 100 within this season. Let's try. And basically we'd have to get to the playoffs. Justin: Well I think that'll, we'll have to write a letter. Because we have 17, 18 games. We'll have to write a letter to Rex and be like, listen. You want us to get to 100 for that Super Bowl episode. Jake: That's right, that's basically kind of how it works out. Alright, we are planning that. So let's talk about what we're- Justin: Just like we planned the Super Bowl Parade last year when we made the playoffs. We are planning the episode 100 pre-Super Bowl Jets, Jet Kingdom podcast right now, you just heard it. Jake: Excellent. So let's talk about the little agenda. We are going to talk about- the Jason Taylor edition, which I'm sure we both have some comments on. And then we're going to talk about the 2010 draft, including our picks for the draft, with the caveat being that we are not the greatest draft followers on the planet. Then we'll talk about the, we'll go over the 2010 schedule. Maybe give a little insight into how we feel about it. We'll take some tweets and calls if we have any, which I know we do. And then we'll wrap it up. So let's get kicking here. I mean, the big news really, and I think this started, I don't even think it was hitting during when we did our last podcast, was that the Jets were looking at Mr. Jason Taylor,
02 Jake: formerly of the Miami Dolphins. and currently of the new york jets they signed into i think a thirteen million dollar contract three point five million dollars dollars this year uh... and uh... Justin: means is one year yeah i know where we're paying ten next year Jake: i will say that the uh... the fun part was getting all the uh... Text from my dolphin friends being like oh $13 million. I'm like, yeah It's gonna get 3.5 million this year and zero next year because yeah He's not gonna get they're not gonna pay him $10 million extra unless he'd like gets 27 sacks this year So what do you think I mean off the top of your head? let's just I mean for any jet fan out there if you were listening this podcast, you know the history but basically And as we talked about, I think we did talk about this a little bit because I was saying there are players that we dislike, like Tom Brady and I said this before, but then there are players that the jet fans actually have a reason to hate. And this man has called out the jet fans, not once, not twice, but more than three times in the media saying that we were dumb and we didn't know when to do the chant. And like he's literally attacked the fans which That's a pretty rare thing. Like, generally players will say, oh, we're gonna win this game, but they don't generally go into the fans also suck ass. So, um, what do you think? Having Jason Taylor as a jet? Justin: I don't like it. I'm not sure what it really does. I mean, I guess what it does is say, Brian times you're gone. Uh, but I don't know. I mean, he's sort of old and... 35 years old. Sac Leader, NFL Sac Leader. That's great. That's in his past. Um, you know, I'm looking at next year, and I guess what it does say is, we believe we can win the Super Bowl, and we're trying to put pieces together to put us over the top. It hasn't worked for other teams. I don't know if they were as close like the Red Skins or the Cowboys. I mean, it never really works for them. So I'm not too really happy. I mean, I know he's a good player. Is he better than Brian Thomas at this stage in their careers? Maybe. They're probably about the same. Jake: So... Justin: I'm sort of wishy-washy on it and if it wasn't Jason Taylor, I might be a little happier about it But since it's him and he's such a jerk, I don't really like it. You know, like I liked the LT signing I liked getting San Antonio Holmes Antonio Cromartie And Antonio Cromartie. I don't really care for this one Yeah, I just don't see where it where I mean couldn't we have just drafted a guy to do what he's gonna do like he's not Jason Taylor of six years ago well we'll definitely find out what
03 Jake: your draft picks are in a little bit but certainly yeah it certainly changes things it does I think it does in a little bit so I mean if again if you've been following Actually, one of the guys tweeted and said I've been falling back since like it was like episode 26 or something else It's been a while So if you've been falling, you know that generally that Justin and I are pretty much optimists pretty much Just everything's gonna go away Everything that gets touch turns to gold right and yet every year for proven wrong This it's starting to look like we are just in absolute desperation mode is starting to look like and yeah you mentioned the Redskins and those that year when they pulled in Bruce Smith and they pulled in like and what's his face neon Sanders Deon Sanders It is it's starting to feel very desperate either very desperate or extremely good But I guess I'm more towards the desperate Is Jason Taylor still a player who can make moves on the field? Is he a game changer? No, he's no longer a game changer. I don't think he was a game changer last year. You know, the one positive I'm going to take from this, because I don't like this whole we're just going to throw a whole bunch of, because we talk about this every year, which Can you just take a bunch of players? We usually talk about one or two players like the Bart Scott's and Jim Leonard and throw them into a team and make them productive. One or two players, you get them into the team. We are talking now about some serious personalities on this team. We got San Antonio Holmes, Brailen Edwards, Jason Taylor, Lydaniin Tomlinson. And what do we have? We don't know. Braylon Edwards was a really person. He's a person. Wait, wait, wait. He was cool for the 10 weeks that he played, waiting for his new contract. But again, he's proven in the past that he can be one of those guys who kind of goes off the top. So the question is, can you control enough of them? You can have one or two TOs or Randy Moss is on your team. You cannot have five of them. And I just like to the point of where can you just put too many players Jason Taylor really that guy? I don't think that yes. Well really yes, he's dancing with the stars. He's a media whore Justin: He's never done Miami wrong I mean Jake: Well, I'm gonna have a mouth of Miami and that he's the guy when when they when they want to get a quote about The you know some opposing team who they go to oh, yeah, go to JT Because he'll give you something. So it's like, all right, so what do you think? Well, I think that Jet Bands are a bunch of numb nuts or whatever.
01 Jake: Again, I don't think you can put that many blowhards almost in a game, in a team, and expect that team to become a team. What you then have is a bunch of blowhards and each one pulling in their own direction to become. for whatever reason they're doing it. Why is LT doing this? Why is Jason Taylor doing this? Why isn't Tony Cromarti doing this? Why is Braylon Edwards doing this? You know, I feel like I understand the motivations of some of those players, some of our players, the Bart Skodts, the, you know, Fanakas, the Damien Woodys, even the Mark Sanchez's, right? You look at their career where they are, you can see what they're trying to do with their career. here. These guys, I mean, they're not, again, they're not trying to make a team for many years. They're not trying to become part of the armored guard of the Jads. I mean, they're just trying to be there for now and collect a check and, I guess, win a Super Bowl. Jason Taylor's number one Super Bowl. Dan Tompkins number one Super Bowl. Kamarne obviously. Brando Oates obviously. Um, Centennial Holmes. Oh, yeah, he did win a Super Bowl and he was the MVP. Um, so I don't know. It's just, it's starting to bug me. It's starting to be a little bit too much. That being said, here's my only positive I can think of. The rumor is that they're gonna move Golstin out to the defensive end and... Justin: That's where he plays. Jake: Yeah, but I'm officially, well, you know, in 3-4... Justin: Oh, oh, that position that Marcus Douglas played. Jake: Yeah, so they're gonna move him out and the only thing I can think of is if there's one person that might have enough experience to teach someone about a position of Being you know defensive end position and and you know, Jason Taylor is certainly a guy He's done a pretty good job of sack on the quarterback. So maybe he could give him something. I don't know That's my only positive spin That, and I get to buy two jerseys, Jason Taylor jerseys, and I get to wear them and drive my wife absolutely freaking bonkers. That one. She's already said that she does not, and so I've already convinced my daughter that she wants to wear a Jason Taylor jersey, and even though it'll probably burn against my skin, I'll do it just to piss off my wife. Justin: Well, what we can do is we can burn a Jason Taylor jersey during the tailgate. Jake: Well, nah, that's what we'll do. We'll wear Jets Jason Taylor jerseys. And we'll burn Miami Dolphins Jason Taylor jerseys. There you go. It'll feel good because we're doing both. I like it. So anyway, that's that and that's okay. Justin: Now let's talk about the draft. Do we want to, you know, I have to ask the question. Because a couple of, you know, we always, as everyone knows, since they listen every week, we always go to tweets and a couple of the tweets were about Jason Taylor. Should we just weave those in now since we've sort of... touched on that topic.
02 Justin: No. Or should we wait till later? We'll put it in the end. You know why? All right. We'll wait. We'll wait till you get it on. Jake: We follow the schedule. That's why. All right. Because we follow the agenda. Let's talk a little bit about the draft. OK. So I'm ready. We're putting it out there first. we are not draft next we're not the people who follow this all year watch a lot of football uh... ton of football we don't want any uh... college football and you don't know i don't really so you know when it comes to draft as i've said this year near now if you could say even in high school some player that player was a guarantee on the Jets, I'd be that big as, I'd go to his games. I'd go to the high school games just to watch because I know that he was being in the Jets someday. But in the draft, it's like, you know, you could watch, you know, you can be all up in one guy's, one player's thing, and then all of a sudden, he goes to some other team, you're like, oh, well, that sucks for me. So, we're not huge draft picks. That being said, year in, year out, we'd like to come back and do a little bit of a mock draft. Let's at least first talk about the top couple picks. I'm going to throw you a curve ball because you probably weren't ready for this. Let's talk about the top three picks because it's kind of the big deal. So we got Rams first, Lions second. Buckneers for I'm ready for this actually. Okay, so give me who you think is going to happen those first three picks sure So I think the Rams will go ahead and pick Sam Bradford Justin: Cuz I agree have never picked a quarter or they haven't picked a quarterback in the first round since the 60s, I believe in some of the studying that I've been doing about the draft and They desperately need one and they got rid of their starting quarterback and why not usually quarterbacks go first So Sam Bradford seems to be that guy this year and why not? The Lions and the Bucks will be picking at the same position and I'm not sure who's gonna pick who So the Lions pick in 2 and the Bucks are picking 3. And it's probably a case where you would rather be the third pick because you could pay the guy a little less and you don't have to pick. Because in Damukung Su and Gerald McCoy both played defensive tackle and they're likely going to go 2 and 3. The Lions certainly need to tackle. They were just... a sieve against the run last year and Tampa needs to replace Warren Sapp in that position in their defense, which they still haven't done So I think and Domikaksu will go second to the Lions and I think Gerald McCoy will go third to Tampa That's just my hunch Jake: Yeah, I'd love to argue with you, but I don't think so. Yeah, I mean, it's kind of a toss-up. They seem to be the one and two.
01 Jake: Sue certainly has more of the... He was awesome in college. Sex appeal. I mean, he was in the bowl games. He was, you know, he won the Heisman. I mean, he... He didn't win any Heisman. He didn't win the Heisman this year? Justin: In Damokang, Sue? Jake: Yeah. Justin: No. Yeah. I thought I did. No. Who won the Heisman this year? Jake: I don't know, but it wasn't a defensive tackle. I can tell you that for damn sure. Oh, alrighty. I don't have to look that up. That's too bad. See, that's why I don't pay any attention to, uh... I don't know. It was a quarterback. Justin: It, it wasn't Colt McCoy, but it was someone else. Not, not, not a defensive tackle. Jake: That was the whole point of this thing that was the first time in history that a defensive person got I think he might have been a finalist. Oh, he was a finalist. I know he's a finalist, you know, I mean Mark Ingram, sorry Justin: Mark Jake: So Sue was there. So okay, so he's more sexy cuz he's again. I it's very hard I mean I will admit as a jet fan is very hard when we're picking way down in the in the In the day or us picking 29 29 when you pick a 29 like who gives a shit what goes 1 2 5 7 10? I got your trader Mike and you're looking at number five and you're saying Trader Mike I don't think there is enough to get up from from never down a trader Mike Justin: Thanks Cleveland's picking seven so Jake: Alright, so let's talk about weeks. Alright, I totally agree. I feel like that's the way to go. And I couldn't care less. The only thing that's interesting is that we're playing the Lions this year. And so if they pick someone, we'll be up against them. That's literally it. That's all I care about. So for the Jets, we have... I can't wait to play the Lions this year. We have five picks. Alright. We traded away our fifth round pick. We've traded away a lot of picks over the years. So we have first round, we have 1, we have 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 as a round. And just again, anybody who's been paying out on a planet, another planet, this is the first year that the jet The NFL is going to do the draft on prime time on Thursday. They did it on prime time years ago, I think on a Friday night. And I actually kind of like that. I gotta be honest, really silly. Just quickly, what do you think about having the draft on prime time? Justin: Well, prime time, cool. They just picked the wrong time. So Thursday, number one, is a big TV night. There's a lot of comedies on Thursday night. Thursday's always been a big TV night, number one. Number two, the NBA playoffs are going on. Number three, the NHL playoffs are going on. I just don't think there's enough mindshare out there for the NFL Draft first round.
00 Justin: which takes like five hours. Like, it's just not cool enough. And Thursday night is just not the right night. Maybe a Wednesday night, maybe a Friday night. But this, I mean, with all these other sporting events going on, like, I know I won't be watching a draft. I'll be watching an NBA playoff game, even though the Knicks aren't in it. It's just more entertaining to watch a playoff game than a draft. that that's that I could be far from the truth I do a football podcast lead that it is not too many people to the site of it you don' do it very well. Well, that's for the fans to decide and I'd love for you guys to call in next week and tell us how good or not we are. Jake: I think it's interesting only because it used to be on Saturday and Sunday and you start at like 3 and go to midnight. I think that the NFL is smart in that they're making these things more of a an event. This brilliant observation. This is also the age of DVR where nobody watches anything in real time except for sporting events because sporting events you don't want to be caught you want to get your friends to tweet you, or to text you and say Oh my god, I can't believe you picked whatever, whatever, or you lost the game or whatever. So... If it comes to what sporting event you're going to watch versus the office or the Cosby show, I think that's still on, isn't it? I don't think so. Then you're going to watch the sporting event and then you're going to TV, you're going to DVR or TiVo or whatever the heck. You're going to record the other one. So I personally will be watching because it's a live event and it's fun and knowing that we have Trader Mike on the mic, as it were, you know that you're not going to pick at 29. So that's what's going to be fun for me, is that I'm not going to sit there in years past, well in a couple of years, I've just gone, oh well, we're not picking till, oh well, oh my God, what did we do? And then number six comes, we pick up and pick number six. So I don't know, I think I'm, I'm, I'm I think it's much more of an interesting thing and I think it'll be pretty well taken. I think a lot of people watch. A lot more than they would have watched on a Saturday afternoon in April. It's April, Saturday afternoon, it's a nice day, go outside.
02 Jake: Thursday night, you know? And then following up with a Friday night, that's kind of interesting, you know? So if you didn't tune in on day one, you get a lot of day two coverage. Interesting stuff. Very interesting. Great. All right. So we have five picks. Yep. You tell me, what are we going to do? Give me your... Do you want names or do you want like what positions I think? Well first go for your positions of need. What do you think our biggest needs are since it's just changing? Justin: It just keeps changing which is crazy. So I think what we're going to end up doing is picking defense early and we maybe second third and fourth maybe some way because our guys been really healthy but I don't know we have behind them so it's always good to If you would have asked me two weeks You But now, a week ago, you would have said defensive end or rushing outside linebacker. But if you ask me today, I'm going to say safety and I'm actually going to put a name to that. I think the guy from USC might be around Taylor Mays. That might be the next jet. Jake: Wow, Taylor Mays. Why not? Um... All right, so I don't think we're picking safety. Here's the thing I heard through some conference that Rex Ryan...B- what conference were you at? re I not conference conference call or something I read, you know, I I like to read. Is that on my iPad? It was about Rex Ryan and Corners. And Rex Ryan came onto the Jets last year. Someone said, well, you better get ready to pick Corners. He just doesn't want to stop picking Corners. So in need, I think we have, okay, I think we have free safety, safety, definitely the need. Then, you know, sort of an inside linebacker kind of thing, and then probably defensive end considering that Jason Taylor is not the answer to a multi-year question, right? He's the answer to maybe a this year question, but he's not the answer to a multi-year question. So I think that's our needs, but I don't think needs matter. in this case. I think that Rex Ryan, glared at the roster, he would have an extra of whatever 47 corner backs and throw them in every play. So looking at the corners and looking at who's available and what other teams are available The one thing that I'll fall to us is actually, Devin McCordie.
02 Jake: uh... he's the guy i think will fall and he might not fall here's the thing i think we're going to go in five picks think we're gonna come out with three players last year i think we went in with up for like joe hayden or something joe hayden's probably number one Justin: one He's not in the top, I I'm not sure if he's a, I can make this fifty something good. What do you think? Well here's what you think. I can say what I can do. We're going to get around. Jake: Why would we need a wide receiver? Justin: He can play special teams wide receiver. I think there's a need there. I'm not sure if he can play wide receiver. Why do I need a wide receiver? I'm not sure if these guys are going to end wide receivers take a couple years. So I mean. Jake: Have you given up on clownie? Justin: Yeah, I am giving it a clowny. I think clowny is a clown. And I'd like Golden Tate, I think he could be sort of special, like a Steve Smith type. Jake: How do you think this guy's got Golden Tate's like been talked as one of the top picks? Justin: No, I don't think he'll even go in the first round. I think he'll be a second round pick. I can't wait to do it. Jake: for for for Justin: I'm What's the name? whether it'll be around, I have no idea. Who are you I love the- Jake: Who are you gonna pick in Justin: We don't. We don't have a third, do we? Jake: Nope, we don't have a third. Good observation. What are you gonna pick in the fourth thing?
00 Justin: What are you gonna pick up? Jake: What? I was where the corner is, like who's being picked, I think we'll trade our second to get up to Cam Chancellor, free safety from Virginia Tech, 6'3", 231. Looks like a big guy, hard hitter, I like it. When I looked at the rankings, he looked like he would be around where we wanted to pick. Plus, it's a good name, Cam Chancellor. He's our dude. Alright, so you're gonna pick Alignment and then that's it? Pick again, Damokang Su. That's who you're gonna trade? Justin: Gonna trade all of the picks to Detroit. Be like, look, Detroit, you suck. You need as many players as you can get. We will. We will, will trade you our entire draft, just like the Saints did way back when for Ricky Williams. Jake: I think it was first, second, and fourth. , Talk a little bit about some and a second round next year for Brandon Marshall from the Denver Broncos. What do you think? I mean, first of all, when you look at the value, like a first round and a second round? No, no, no, no, no, second round this year, second round next year. So two second rounds. Justin: picks. Two second rounds. When you look at the value of San Antonio homes for one fifth round pick and another guy who might be better but might just be a product of the system that they ran, he with Shannon and then another offensive coach and he had Cutler or... and then and then he was just catching like five yard passes last year the whole time. I don't think that that's a good... I mean... It's a little silly. Like, when you think about it, it's...
00 Justin: I don't understand. Like, how does Randy Moss get traded for a... Jake: You know, a... I think it was a late second. No, it was a fourth round pick. So like... Who then goes and sets a record the year later. Justin: Yeah, I just don't understand NFL trades and the way that it works. I don't think that was a very good value pick for Miami to get Brandon Marshall for two second round picks. Jake: Well I think here's the thing that you're probably not taking into account which is that there's two sides to a pick and there's two sides to a trade. There's the seller and there's the buyer. So the need and the value comes from two sides. It comes from both what the seller wants to sell it for and the need of the buyer. That's why the Jets, trading away for San Antonio Homes, we had a need at... the Junior who's not who's not in the better way right they traded him to to the 49ers fourth or Which they picked him in number number seven or something like that two three years ago So I a don't know I think for the Dolphins. I think it's a good deal I don't know how many picks they have if they have a million pigs I think they qualified good receiver but who last . Last week this guy was kicking balls into practice and not working out and just basically got And now he's on the dolphins and he's... you know, can he be kept in control? And I think, I think like a lot of our team, like the Jets, and how, what's gonna happen to us, it's all gonna be about winning. every one of those head cases is gonna be out in the media talking to the Times and Daily News and the Post, and you'll just see every back, it'll be like- capita says, Jet fans still-suck. And, ha, we win four games in a row, it'll be like nice little choir boys, you know, you know. Anyway, so that's interesting. And then today's news that just came out literally hours ago, Roger Goodell, Big Daddy Goodell has suspended Ben Roethlisberger for... ...his games. Um, it is a lot of games. Considering he wasn't convicted of anything, it's...
00 Justin: Not convicted of one thing. Jake: Yeah, it's interesting. Justin: This is like a character suspension. Jake: Yeah, because that's what... And he... pretty clear and I thought it was interesting, but he made it like... In some of his interviews interviews, she said that the player conduct policy is not about the law. It's about what you're doing to the franchise, what you're doing to your team, and what you're doing to the NFL and to every other player. And if you're... conduct, whether it's against the law or not, is putting the shield, the players, everybody at risk and making us all look bad, that's what he's going to rule on. Certainly if you're going to look from that point of view, and again, this is kind of outside the law. It's not about the law. It's about what the NFL expects. I am the law. It is, and he is the law. And to that degree, if you look at it from that point of view, I agree, right? Ben Rolfensberger has been nothing but kind of doing stupid shit for a couple years. Yeah. Justin: And this is like strike three. It's pretty funny when, I shouldn't say the word funny, it's crazy when the prosecutor comes out during his press conference and uses words like swab and like all sorts of DNA words and weird things that describe this happening that may or may not have happened but I'm sure it did. You know, I'll say one thing. If I was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan I'd be livid and be a ripshit. I'd be so mad but as a Jeff fan and watch one of the good teams in the AFC lose their starting quarterback for six games. I'm pretty happy about it. Let's hope they lose all six. Jake: Let's get it out yesterday five prime time games for the Jets. How cool is that? I will tell you that that the pressure mounting on the Jets to do something spectacular this season is insurmountable it is Beyond all the hype beyond getting to the AFC Championship last year beyond the Rex Ryan beyond the hard knocks beyond picking up with Danian Tomlinson and and Jason Taylor and Antonio Camardi and Santoni Holmes I Mean now you throw us and you say yeah, and basically you're gonna be in the prime time five weeks at a 17 That's without the flex. Sorry at at a 16 That's a huge percentage. Justin: Well, it's really five out of... It's really five out of eleven.
03 Justin: Because there's still five TBAs on the schedule. And you never know if that Pittsburgh game in the third to last week of the season is... big game for some AFC reason they might throw that up there and you never I mean odds are this isn't gonna happen but the last week of the season if AFC East title, maybe you know maybe there's Jake: something there as well. It's not like we haven't been flex to the last game of the season. So let's talk about the schedule. We knew the pre-season when you were opening the Giants. It's, kind, weird. Usually we play them third. Here's the thing, the rumors right before the schedule came out. There were leaks, apparent leaks, and the two leaks were Monday night we were going to be opening up the Dolphins because of this Taylor trade, and then that Thursday night game we were going to be playing the Vikings. Wrong. Yeah, both wrong. So kind of interesting that the leaks weren't happening. Justin: That Thursday night game is an odd choice. Jake: So let's not talk about wins or losses because we do that. in the fall and later. We do that a lot. Because there's so much stuff that's got to happen between now and then. You can't figure it out yet. So let's just talk about what we think and for home versus away. So we started off Monday night versus the Ravens, 7pm, a little early the early because it's that double Monday night. Thoughts, opinions, I'll be there. I know you'll be there. courtesy of Jake. Justin: I like opening against the Ravens. It's got the Rex Ryan backstory a little bit, but I do like the fact that we're playing a tough team on that opening Monday night, because I have a feeling there's no way we're losing that game without getting into wins and losses. But it's just one of those things I'm I I'm happy that we're playing Baltimore early. What I don't like is that we then have New England again week two off the short week, which kind of sucks. But it is what it is, and you play the schedule that you're given. And I do happen to like that. You know, I think our schedule is actually actually kind of favorable., to be honest, euphemism. Really? I really do. I think that there's a soft spot in this schedule in the middle of the season where you're playing Packets, lines, browns, textings, things. Denver's not that good. Green Bay, at home. Okay, they're alright. Jake: Let's go back up. Justin: Alright, alright, so there's a soft spot in that schedule where you can run off like five straight-straight. I mean there really is a...
00 Jake: Again, we're not talking about the losses. So let's talk... So versus Ravens, I like it too. I love the match up. The X- getting the crowd riled up. A 415 game. Okay, whatever. Patriots. Another national game. That's if it's Justin: at 415. It is. Our first three games are national games. Jake: I like starting off two weeks in a row at home. I think that's good like home games Then we go on the road to the Dolphins. Didn't win against the Dolphins last year, got swept by them. Justin: Wonder what the action will be for a Jason Taylor and a Jay uniform. Jake: And play on Sunday night. So again, that's our... in the third week we're already on our second one. And we're three times national. prime time game, then we come back up and go to the bills, and then play them at 1 o'clock. Okay, so that's just an October 3rd 1 o'clock game. That's my birthday by the way. I mean, if we're working, we'll get quarters, right? Right? Because it's always supposed to be done in quarters. We always do that. Ravens, Patriots, Dolphins, Bills to start off. Justin: It's in the Meadowlands, so you get a little break there. Hopefully, F.A.R.V. is their quarterback. That'd be a fun one. Jake: You know. And then I think the schedule turns in this court. No, no, no, because we think we still have a tough thing. We'll go add to Bronco. Short week away game. And then in Mile High Stadium, which is, you know, the steepest place. I don't think they're that good. They might not be that good but it's still a short week to go. So I think that's a tough start before the buy. That's not, there's no cake walks in there. There's six games in there, right? There's six games? What I'm saying, six games, none of them are guaranteed wins. So you go three and three three. Stop! Justin: With the, predictions. I'm not predicting anything, I'm just saying. So you go three and three. Jake: I think the expectation on this. Justin: We go three and three. I don't think so. That's in your head. Trouble. Jake: Alright, you're gonna get the buy. Come off the buy. Now you're back at home with the Packers. That's good. I like the Packers at home. Aaron Rodgers, half the buy is good, at home is good. Justin: They can't block a pass rush, that's good. Jake: That's good. This is generally when our defense will will probably start to kick it into its high gear. It's when it happened last year.
00 Jake: Then we go at Lions. Yes, by Justin. Then we go at Lions. OK, that's a win. Then stay on the road at Browns. Justin: They stink. Jake: Yeah, they probably stink, so that's okay. Then come home for the Texans and Bengals. Texans, we play on Monday night, sorry, Sunday, and then just for the days later we play the Bengals. Justin: - That's also interesting because the week after we play on Monday, so then we get a huge long time another bye week I Jake: Would agree I would agree that is sort of that's a nice thing because there's a lot of closeness there But that makes sense when we get another bye week then we play Monday night and the Patriots okay good Come back and then play the Dolphins at home Okay, like that Dolphins in December like our last quarter in metal and like our our final four Then we go at Stuars, which is really close, it's not a big travel. Justin: It's a tough game though, in Pittsburgh it's tough, but hopefully they'll be... Jake: Well, it'll only be Ben Roethlisberger's, you know, sixth game of the season. That's right. Um, seventh game of the season. And then at Bears... Justin: Cold, cold. Jake: Yeah, but I don't think at that point we're used to we just played the Steelers so cold that from the buy to there a good amount of damage there so it all matter is what you do at the beginning excuse me take some of those you know beginning ones and don't come out I think three and three is not good enough I think you got to go four and two then you do a run in. and end up the season by doing you know splitting so way you're talking and i was eleven five Justin: make the playoffs through some damage. Look, we did a lot of damage. Do you want to be a home team?
01 Justin: It doesn't really matter to be honest. Look, we won two road games last year and we could have won that third one. I mean, it really doesn't matter. I don't really think it matters that much. I'd love a home game. Yes, I would love one. I'd love to win the division. I want to win the division. I think that that should be their goal. Win the division. Jake: Win the division. All right. Well, that's the... in general. Easy hard? Rated on that scale? Actually... Medium. Medium. Yeah, I mean it's not easy. I want one to ten. One to ten. Ten being the hardest schedule ever in the planet, one being playing the Raiders every week. I'll give it a... Justin: Just because our division is a little difficult, but anytime you have Detroit and Cleveland in back to back weeks on the schedule, it can't be that difficult. Jake: Yeah, I think it's more of a 7, 7.5. I don't think it's, it's no cakewalk, but it's out there. Alright so let's take some tweets. Let's go for some tweets and some calls. Do you have some? I'm... Um, no, you said you had them all. So go for it- composure. Justin: I have four. No, with you. a penny. I've none. None. That's awesome. No one tweet. So one of mine is from. is from Bill Knapp or Emerson Knapp and he actually tweeted to us that he made to see how everybody was. Yeah, maybe now is the right time to actually go ahead and the route. Jake: We'll be giving it a lot. So as you know, because some of you tried to call in last week, we had a different service. So I traded it up and I changed it to a new service that's not going away anytime soon. and I got a vanity number so it's three four seven eight five five jets nice how awesome is that that is pretty awesome three four seven eight five five jets BLEE You call in you leave a voicemail we get the voicemail we listen the voicemail we delete the voicemail we don't talk to you again oh wait we get the voicemail we play We play the voicemail on our podcast if it's of any good. So anyway, go ahead and play Justin: Let me play Bill Knapp, Emerson Knapp on Twitter. Here we go. Hey Jake and Justin, it's Bill, call from Albany. But he's now a Jett. So, you know, we can't hate him as much. We can hate him as much as we hate Vernon Goulston. How about that? Jake: I only hate him. I know I do hate him. It's very difficult. There's so many players I'd rather have on that team.
00 Jake: But you're right. I hate him until he does something. How's that? You know, you want to learn back my love? This is the age old story of sports teams, which is that you can hate the player, but they come in. He sacks. you know, someone twice in that first opening game. He sacks... Fumble, recovery. Recover it. Or a touchdown. He sacks Brady. He sacks Chad Henney. I mean, I will just... I will... uh... you love you long time. Justin: Yeah. Alright, so there's two more that actually also have to do with Jason Taylor, so read them too. together. One from Gabrielle Lazon. I'm not sure what their Twitter handle is here. I'm not sure. Is it a picture girl? No, there's just a little logo. Is it a logo of a girl? No, it's just a logo. Alright, let's just pretend. So it's Gavi Lazon is the... Twitter handle and Gabby Gabby G-A- last week you said that you really hate if the I just signed JT Taylor now that he did get a. what are your feelings and I've answered that like 500 times over. Yeah, we've answered it. But you know And then the We we we love, we at thoughts on JT joining the Jets Jake: and Justin: Also opening against the Ravens is lame capital L capital a capital M capital E Jake: Rex Forget the trade, the dolphin opening against the Jets with Jason Taylor on the Jets would have been a better opener than the Rex Ryan. Justin: Clearly. It totally would have been. But it happened without the trade. It would have been anyway. The dolphins opening the stadium would have been a better opener than the Ravens anyway. It's a natural rival as opposed to the Ravens which is more of a made up thing. We have their old coach. Jake: Well and we have two of their players and we took two of their players and their defense didn't ever get better.
01 Jake: Three of their players sorry. Alrighty well thank you. So I guess we do have one female listens to our podcast. Actually, she probably doesn't even listen, she just tweets. That might be true. She listens. Justin: I know she listens. She told me she listens. No, she sometimes listens. She says we're funny, which is nice of her. Jake: Yes, it is. Well, I think we've heard that more than a few times. Alright, so I got... On our iTunes reviews. Uh, no, I've- we have new iTunes reviews? No, it's saying people say we're funny in our iTunes reviews. Oh yes, they do. Um, so I've got a new segment. You do? Justin: I Check him calm and I'm gonna log in and I'm alright so old pole is what we put out last week Jake: Right, I'll read the results and then new pole will be what I'm gonna I'm gonna put up now And then we'll read the results next week. So old pole is How would you? How would you welcome Jason Taylor as a New York jet? How timely was that last week? So the results were, I had three choices, Boo Him, Cheer Him, or Sit on My Hands. 9% picked Boo Him. 36.36% picked Cheer Him. And 54.55% picked My Hands. Interesting. Justin: Very.
