11 Jake: are high. Get used to it. It's always gonna be that way. Justin: Welcome to the Get Kingdom podcast. the longest running New Year's Jets podcast in the entire interwebs. It doesn't almost sound like it rattle up because I was reading and remembering at the same time. That's right, 112 episodes and joining me for the 112th episode, my good friend Justin. Justin how you doing? Remembering when I'm called? I was trying to remember if I call you something different on this podcast Cuz you know another podcast that shall remain nameless. I call you Justin too. Well, I call you Justin in your last name That's true. So here I was like just Justin. Just Justin. Just jet Kingdom Alrighty, we have some this the the non submitted title of this podcast was shit that went down because We were on last week and we said that we would come back when some shit happened and shit my god Shit happened a lot of shit happened. Good Lord. It is Monday afternoon. We've now sat through what four days of agency frenzy and Here we are. I have to open up last week's agenda. So we didn't write down exactly what we thought. I know I was right because I said... I was right too. I feel like we were both right. No, no, no. Because you said Brailling. I feel like we were both right. You said Brailling. We both said Suntan and Holmes. I feel like we were both right. I said Eric Smith. But you did not say... Eric Smith's the harder one to hit. Yeah. That was a good call. So let's... Well, we lost one guy who we didn't think we were going to lose. Ooh. Brad Smith. I said we were gonna lose my new one. Let's go. Let's talk about it. I said it'd be gone. Here's the agenda. I'm right here than you. We're getting minutes. Here's the agenda. Nomde Watch. Jets get their guys, who we lost, LT takes pay cut, and other shit that happened around the league, including this whole fucking list. And then we'll hit some Twitter questions after very Well I just pulled out the AFC East and then... And then after the AFC East I listed just some bigger name. All right, we got so much shit to get through so much shit Oh my god, and at some point such a weird thing so condensed it is that was But I'm even weak, but it was fun like it was fun I was on Twitter the entire time watching some literally walking down the street Just like watching Twitter like watching this is the best place for information on this topic because people were tweeting there as it happened And it was just live quick streaming of information. I created a list to follow. Of just like news sources? Like Adam Schefter.
00 Justin: Right. That was the list. That was my list. Adam Schefter. Just Adam Schefter, whatever he posts. He's pretty good. I mean, obviously he's not doing it. Because he can't be doing this. He has to tagline his file to ESPN. Like, if he starts off the tweet with. file TSPN yeah that's real deal shit it's like oh I'm hearing this from my sources right nice so those people do let's talk about what we didn't get first Nnamdi watch so we didn't get Nnamdi that was a fun 24 to 48 hours it was because all those jet fans were fucking just freaking out at the fact that's a lot of F's that we could possibly get What we were saying was the greatest tandem Playing today and that you know I had friends treating me who are not just fans who were like or to start texting me saying You guys if you get nominated you could be the greatest the greatest defense ever you know 86 pairs And I was like meanwhile meanwhile It went down to the wire. It looked like we were in the game. There's lots of issues with signing him because of the Revas thing. We just had a contract. We had the cap room. He was looking at 10 to 11 to 13 million a year. And we just signed Revas for like 11.5 a year. So like that would have started a whole thing. You can't go and call Revas the greatest ever and then sort of get someone next year paying more. Basically we didn't get him, he came out of the cowboys and the jets and then at the end of the day, in flew the eagle and scooped him up. Which they were never in the running but all of a sudden they scooped him up and apparently he wanted to play there all along. Yeah, he wanted to go there and they came in and got him. So thoughts on the eagles are fucking stacked. They are stacked. This is annoying me. I don't know how they've done this. And they have a real deal, solid team. I mean, not only do they sign the numbers, besides this one, they have Deshaun Jackson, Jeremy Macklin, those are two pretty good starting one too. I would take, they have three Pro Bowl corners. They have a pass rusher and Trent Cole. They signed Jason Babin. They signed Colin Jenkins. They get Vince Young to be a backup, which is perfect backup because he is like a poor, poor version of Michael Vick, but he has a winning record as a starter. So go figure. They did some work and they, you know, they trade a backup quarterback that started seven games for a second round pick, a Pro Bowl corner. And then someone else pays that guy Kevin Cobb. something million dollars for based on what that's the weirdest thing I saw. That's like the backcast casting did it for a year. Yeah. And it had two 300 yard games and he's three and four as it started. I just don't I don't get that there was a lot of change that happened and that was the look that I saw what the. Give up a lot for him. I even understand Reggie Bush. For a quarterback who, based on what, what are you saying?
03 Justin: Just because he's been around? He hasn't even been around. And he hasn't beat anybody out of the job. Couldn't beat Vic out of the job, couldn't beat McNabb out of the job. Well, you kind of beat McNabb out of the job. I guess you say. He did beat Vic out of the job. He was there starting quarterback last year. For the two games. He got hurt. Oh, that's what you want. You want someone to get hurt. That's it. He got hurt. Anyway, I think that's an odd one. So yeah, we lost the NomD, the NomD Suiksakes. Oh well. But I would say, and that, you know, so, well first things first, we signed homes. Big contract, five years, lots of fucking money, good deal, right? Then it turned into the Nnamdi watch. We lost out on Nnamdi, and then we had to go crawling back to Crow and be like, we had to eat Crow. That would have been a really good news day cover, eat Crow. Jets eat Crow. That'd be good. And I had to go back to Crow and say, hey, what's up? Yeah, remember when we were trying to get that other guy and didn't want you, but you're great? Well, we still want you. I signed him to a four-year deal. Thoughts on who we kept? So we kept, well, we kept what? Eric Smith? Holmes, Cromartie? Holmes, Cromartie, and who else? One or the other. Well, we signed all of our draft picks. Eric Strickland. and... I had Donald Strickland. Donald Strickland. Eric Strickland. Eric Strickland. I think he was like a basketball player. So that's better than he thought, worse than he thought. Better than I was expecting. He lost two of the four. They lost Braylon Edwards. Not even the yet yet. He hasn't signed even yet. They're gonna lose Braylon Edwards. I knew Brad Smith was gone, so no big deal. I mean, look, he's a kick returner. And he runs. the wildcat offense. Okay. But he went to the bills. Don't tell me that doesn't hurt you a little bit. The bills already have good, they have a good return. I don't even know what he's gonna do for them. I don't even know why they signed him. They, did they know he's not a wide receiver? I mean he's not. He caught like two balls last year. He's not. Well then we put him in the position to be a wide receiver. He's not a wide receiver. He would have been put in that position if he could have done it and he can't. So, not a receiver. He's a special teams guy. They're kicking from the 35 this year. He could play quarterback. I don't know. I don't know what they're gonna do with him. Maybe they'll run a big wildcat package. The only thing I could think of is I feel like these are the guys like me in Washington went to Seahawks and did, no, Justin Miller. fit and then it didn't even matter at all. But he burned, like he ends up burning us. That's the problem. It's like I don't think that he'll have a big year, but we play them twice and I feel like those two games, like he's gonna burn us. Somehow it's gonna be like the last second the game kick off he's gonna get it and run it back for touchdown and we'll lose because it's Brad Smith. I don't know, there's just something about it. Like there's something that revenge factor. Plus I really liked him. I just, he was one of those guys that just, I just liked him. I thought he was like... I liked him too, but the money that... wasn't something that you were going to give him not for where he was so okay we
02 Justin: keep Holmes keep crook keep Smith I'm sorry which is I think what's going to turn the attention you talk about the two teams are gonna get a lot of attention this year yeah I think the Jets and you have been the Eagles are gonna get a lot of attention oh my baby the team We signed Plaxico Burris. Yes we did. One man's junk is another man's treasure. Plax. Plax, as it were. Uh, I mean, immediately I thought, okay. Again, after signing Jason Taylor, I have never, it doesn't matter who they say they're gonna sign. Dan Marino comes out of retirement, starts for the New York Jets. I would, I believe it. Because we basically signed the most hated player that I know in my lifetime and signed him and he played for the Jets. and I kinda got over it pretty quickly. But why do you hate black sky? Not that I hate him, it's just like, talk about- There's no reason they hate black sky. Oh, it's risk taking. He's not young. He's 34 years old. Yeah, he's got rested legs. He hasn't played for two years. Rest! He's been in jail after shooting his leg. Rest, baby, rest! Well, his leg has been shot. Rehabilitation! And, I mean, you know, his stats before he went in were very good. You know he was a really good receiver on the very good. He's a big guy go get the ball. Yes We got the Steelers wide receiving Corps like five years ago. We got two Super Bowl winning wide receivers You know if I don't know if Holmes and plaques ever actually played together No, I'm not saying they played together, but they've no That's crazy and I think you know if If Holmes proved anything last year, there's something about Holmes, and I don't know what it was, but like, towards the end of the games, you just thought, this guy knows, kind of knows how to get it done. And he can make that play. And not only do we know that he did that in the Super Bowl, but he did that in many, many games. And I'm thinking, have you got another guy over there who also has that kind of just get it done kind of thing? That's amazing. I just don't know what kind of shape he's getting. I tweeted week five I feel like it's gonna be the last we've had Holmes who's gone for the first four weeks because of suspension this year I feel like plaques will be there, but he won't be he won't be plaques It's gonna take him a cut too much a little bit in the preseason more than it's gonna take two months to get him Well at the shape at least he's got a couple things that you can't really teach five he can't teach six five six five I mean I teach you six really good hands he doesn't drop the ball he'll go over the middle and go up and get it right I mean if you were let's put jail aside I mean he's a better version of Braylon Edwards if he didn't go to jail. Well he's older. He's two years. He's older. He's older. Breland Edwards is like 29. Jake: Yeah but he's you know. Justin: That's a 6-7 year difference. Breland Edwards is a really nice player and he had a very good year last year. Right. Even with his very good year last year it wasn't like a spectacular. you know, Breland Edwards, you have to shut him down kind of guy.
01 Justin: And the reason why he had a good year is because he didn't drop the ball. He had one year before he dropped the ball. Year before off. Year before off. He just hit him in the face and whatever. Like, you know, if he did that again last year, you would say, oh, this guy sticks. Right. He drops the ball. Right. But he had a good year last year, but I think they're very similar. They're similar players. Plax probably has a little more balls going through the net. little kind of thing. I feel like, I think Braille is a little bit more of a strong arm guy. I think he's a little bit more tough. I feel like Quax is more sort of Randy Moss big and lanky and kind of like tall and really go up. But I don't think he's as kind of off the line, knock someone down, you know, block kind of guy. I think he's much more go down the field and I don't think I don't know what his speed was But I don't think he's that guy. He's not this the speed guy, you know, just go to the court go to the corner I mean if you're in the corner, I'm authority because you're the tallest guy there, but I don't know my gut feel Upgrade downgrade. What do you think give it a give it a thing upgraded downgrade from Braven? Yes Time will tell it. No. Yeah, but you're supposed to your your broadcast broadcast makes Give me your opinion. Broadcasters don't make opinions. Broadcasters report the news. You're not a newscaster. You're a broadcaster. That's what these guys do. They get on and they say, I think it's going to be a good thing for the Jets. Or I think it's the worst thing that they did. What do you think? I think from a talent standpoint it's about the same. They probably saved themselves some money and were able to go get provided. 3 million, 17 thousand. A little play out to his number. Because Braylon wasn't going to take one year, $3 million. So in that respect, great thing. Because they were able to sign Cremarin. It also looked like they didn't want to sign Cremarin. It very much, they haven't even tried. I mean, Crow, it looked like, hey, listen, we love you and we'll have you back. But if we can get one of the greatest corners out there in the market today, we're going to get them. And that's not nothing about you, but he's better. Braylon, it wasn't that. It was like, I don't... You're good. Bralyn's still out there. He's not signing anywhere. Still out there. And there's still stuff to go on with his court case stuff. Alright so anybody else? So let's talk about losses. We lost. We lost. Brad Smith. Losing Bralyn. We haven't lost him yet but it looks like he's gone. We have no intention of sanding him. So we've in essence lost him. Drew Coleman, Don. Yep. Yep. Which is a shame because I liked him. But at some point, Kyle Wilson's going to have to be that number three player. So that's just the way it is. You can't pick a guy in the first round and not expect him to be that guy. In the second year and give up on him. It just doesn't work that way. Did they sign Ellis yet? I don't know if they signed Sean Ellis yet. I don't think they have and the breaking news before this podcast was that uh Hotteries on the block If the price is right if the price is right. I wonder what's the price at this point? It's not a price price. It's a trade. Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. No
01 Justin: Like the guys in good number three, they don't really have another. Right What about all the Todd Heat rumor? So there's a rumor we're going to get Todd Heat, Rex Ryan went and met him at the airport to pick him up, and then he signed up with somebody else. We have a tight end as far as I'm concerned, so maybe what? You need two? We lost Steve Weatherford? Whatever. He went to the Giants? The Giants got themselves a guy who could punt it out of bounds at the end of the game. And they got a guy who has helped propetitions in the playoffs. I love Steve Weatherford. Good news. Giants won't make the playoffs. So, no, they're not going to. Um, LG took a pay cut. How much? Well, less. He took more than the 50% pay cut. He was slated to make 2.65 million dollars. Yep. Down to 1.1 million dollars. Sounds like that's one of those. We were going to give you money for your third year, but you're not going to give you the money for the second year. Well, no. He's only a two-year guy, and this is his second year. Right. Well, they usually take a contract, they sign up for one of those big contracts. It sounds like $7 million, $2 million the first year, $5 million the second year, and the second year they go, no, we're not really going to pay you $5 million. No, it sounds like we're going to cut you. And if you don't want to get cut... We're gonna cut your salary." And he said, Oh, I'd like to be here. And they just cut his salary to $1.1 million. And breaking breaking news. Jason Taylor returns to the Dolphins. Jake: I know that you're cutting way ahead. Why are you going... Justin: Why are you straying off of my agenda that... Alright, alright, sorry. Like you're like, ooh, breaking up! I didn't see you head on your agenda! Oh, I'm reading the internet while I'm doing this! Not something a broadcaster would do. A broadcaster totally would! No, a reporting ride from the internet. That's such bull. Adam Schefter sitting there with his blackberry, like, on SportsCenter, like, so stupid. He's tweeting. Fuck him. Alright, so. Fuck you Adam Schefter, I hope you're listening. so uh any other surprises for the Jets? No I mean and net net so they did great they kept all these guys that they that it looked like they were gonna lose out on and this is a team that went really goddamn far so they kept it together quarterbacks in his third year they got him his target and Holmes back they got him another big guy They kept LT around. The defense, they signed the draft picks. So that helps. They brought Crow back, which they needed to do. There's nothing to be upset about here. They're looking great. I mean, that's what you want. There were no off-season activities, nothing for the rookies, nothing for anybody. and they have all the coaches back and all the key players back. Yeah, it basically is a very much rebooted team. Perfect. It's not, there's not much new. Is that what you want? No, I don't. You don't want to have a whole lot of fluctuation. I totally agree. On a scale of one to 10, the- Unless you saw it, like the Panthers kept all their guys, and they were 2 and 14. Like, who gives a shit?
00 Justin: Arizona, the Cardinals signed 51 players. Yeah, who wants to do that? They signed 51 players in five days. Who wants- to do that? I mean what kind of team can you be with 50 new players? That's just like a slew of fuck nuts to be around during the camp. So I mean you need like you know 15 to 20 offensive linemen. You know you're carrying seven or eight. So like you know you need guys and you need bodies. Alright so let's talk about the AFC East. AFC East. Or as we like to call other kingdoms. Other kingdoms. You were not going to get that. I wasn't. I was gonna call it throne fix. Gosh, it's been a while. 112 episodes. I think I'm like 112 episodes. Jake: Miami was busy. So talk about Miami. Justin: Actually, these teams were busy. Miami was busy. They got Reggie Boosh. Reggie Boosh! So what do you think? So now that I haven't heard anything about Ricky and haven't heard anything about Ronnie. Ricky and Ronnie are still free agents. There's both free agents? Oh really? We're getting rowdy or out there. Oh, interesting. They, okay, they signed, so Miami went after Rex, Kyle Orton, sorry, Kyle Orton was not saying Rex Grossman, it's not. They went after Kyle Orton, they couldn't get him. Jake: He couldn't get Kyle. Justin: He couldn't get Kyle Orton. So they had the chat Henny, so then they signed Matt Moore from the Panthers. I mean that just to me means, okay they're going to go with Henny all season. And then Matt Moore is like this guy if Henny just got beat down. Panthers let Matt Moore go and then they signed Derek James. Does this seem like a team that always wants to upgrade but can't? Like they want to upgrade their coach. They couldn't get the guys they signed their current coach They want to upgrade their quarterback the camps like keep the corn like how good I think this will be a defensive team But I just think they're not gonna score any points like cut Crowder who's supposed to be one of their better players But I've heard he's not that yeah, I know he's more of a talker than he's a viewer inside Miami fans. Yes They have Brandon Marshall there who came out with some personality, borderline personality disorder. Don't really care. Although he's had off season shit all. He's like stabbed his wife, been stabbed by his wife, whatever. Been stabbed. Whatever. So they signed that crappy quarterback and then they signed Columbo from the Cowboys who's no good so he's an offensive lineman, tackle, whatever. They were looking at O'Hara, who was released by the Giants, maybe to play center. I thought they drafted. They drafted Pouncey, his brother. He played guard, maybe a I'm signing here so I can retire, I'm signing to play. You know, he had a couple good moves last year, but it was like he had three. He had the big game against the Steelers. One big game against the Steelers, which if you look, I've watched that play a hundred times. No one blocked him, he just walked.
01 Justin: through. I mean it was a great play and I'm not getting away from him. He guessed yes right and he walked right through. Whatever, good for him, not a good year, I don't hate him anymore. You know I hate him less, it's nice. I mean I hate him stall these back on the dolphins and I'm sure the point here's the thing I don't want him to do. Here's the thing, Jason Taylor I know you listen to his podcast because who doesn't? Don't go and talk. about the Jets this year. No he won't, he enjoyed his time. We gave him a good opportunity to do something that he never double for. Don't go sit here. If I hear him talk about the fans or whatever, if I hear him reverse all this shit and go back and just be a fucking prick, I'm only pissed. If you just leave it like, hey, I went and played for them for a year, it was a good year. I mean you actually went to the playoffs. Let's not forget you won a game in the playoffs which I don't think you've ever done, maybe once in your career with the Dolphins in 10 years. So let's just, let's let it, yeah, bye. Alright, so you're anticipating. Miami. Jake: And that hasn't happened. That's not fair of you. He's always been a dick. That's not fair of you. He's a dick. Justin: But I like him, he's a dick. Cause you're a dick. Alright, at the end of this, so start thinking now cause I know it's going to take you a while. Jesus. I want ratings. things. on the three agency frenzy so far for the AFC East teams. So Jets, Dolphins, Patriots and Bills. What happened up in New England? They got some crazy fucks. They got two crazy fucks. They got two crazy fucks. First, they both trades. So they traded for Albert Haynesworth. Yup. And they traded for Chad Oakridge. think go which is well pretty nutty cuz let me take a step back and and just talk about how terrible Washington is for a moment okay just cuz 110 they signed this guy for 101 just an obscene contract and they get what like a fifth rounder for him McNabb they they get they sign they trade For McNabb they trade like a second round pick or something They trade them a year later for like a sixth round pick in like 2018 Whatever, you know How terrible is Washington? That's the first... We'll just throw that out there as a rhetorical. Haynesworth... to New England could work. They have Vince Wilferk. They're looking to potentially go a little more 4-3 because they got rid of Ty Warren. They got rid of Tully Bantecain. So I thought he was one of their guys. He's an outside linebacker who, if they're moving from a 3-4 to a 4-3. And I heard some tweets saying that we wouldn't be a terrible guy for the Jets to have on the outside there's in the rotation with pace and Thomas He could pick them. I'm sure and give us a little info on the on the past stuff Hey worth Haynes worth to me is a good I mean both of these guys are good low-risk high reward pick ups for doing them They did a good job because both of these guys Haynes worth if he could get motivated and
03 Justin: Ocho Cinco who By all accounts is as motivated as any to win I mean he's a schmuck, but he wants to he wants to win and he knows Brady and he knows Belichick and he's a really good low-risk high-reward guy for them because he doesn't even he doesn't have to be Chad Otracinko he could just be a receiver that you know there's Walker to worry about there's branch to worry about there's Gronkowski to worry about there's Hernandez to worry about he's gonna get the single coverages were in Cincinnati it was Ocho Cinco. Who else do you worry about? 40 year old T.O. and a bunch of other crappy guys like you don't worry about him so you know he could have a good year with Brady throwing him the ball. But the downside to him is he's always been a guy who kind of goes off and does his own thing. He's not a great route runner and... Yeah but he'll do the Moss route. Here's Moss's three routes that he, straight stop and cut left. Here's your three things and we'll just say do one of them and Brady will find you if you're open. I feel like he's gonna have a good year. I mean he's not gonna have good games against the Jets because they'll just throw Rebus on him and that'll be back. because Rebus has owned him. He has owned him. But packed him up. Both guys, good pick ups for New England through the trade route, not through the free agency route. I actually think, I think Ojusinko better. Haynesworth, by the end of last year, Haynesworth was being outplayed by like third stringers. I don't think he even cared. Yeah, that- I feel like he was just whatever. I hate this place. Get me- But what what makes a guy get to there and can a guy bounce back from I hate this place to be Washington search like You're like in despair you go there to like get your big contract and then you go somewhere else to try and win All right. I mean again. I don't think it's a bad. They're not downgrades although Wilfrock and Haynesworth is not yeah, four three those guys. Yeah those guys You know, Wilfork will stuff up the run and Wilfork's cool. I feel like Wilfork's towards the end of his deal though. He's a big dude. Big dudes don't get towards the end of their deal. I think Wilfork's going towards the end of his deal. I don't think so. He's pretty good. So New England and then Buffalo. Big Buffalo. All I know is they got Brad Smith. They signed Nick Barnett. Yeah, little linebacker from Green Bay. It's a good signing for them because they lost Who went off I think the Tampa Bay He went to the Jaguars who are increasingly interesting to me. I feel like the Jaguars Made some good moves. I can't recall all of them But I feel like they're a rejuvenated team the the Jags for some reason okay so those are the big moves we talked about Buffalo for about four seconds yeah I mean well okay who's quarterbacking the Buffalo
03 Justin: they see yeah that's in Brad Smith chain daily came out and said I'm gonna use Brad Smith as a quarterback go ahead that's great you don't tell me if we used to mess quarterbacks your or for play like maybe I threw a touchdown the guys The guy had a very nice career with the Jets. It's a little overrated. He got a lot of money for... For being with a team that did well. Yeah. Yeah, I agree. So anybody can return kicks in that... AFC East grades for the Free Agency for Agency. A through F. A through F. 8th or F? I was going to ask, what's my thing? 1 to 10? No, no, no, I'm doing 8th or F. 8th or F does everything we do this year is an 8th or F. Does any count? No. No E's. No. Where I went to college, they didn't give F's. They gave E's. They didn't, I swear. Do some short buffs? I got a couple, I know. Short buffs? Got a couple E's thrown in there. That's just right. Pre-colonial African history. Got an E. Oh wow. Yeah, I took it twice. Nice. Don't need to know that. Any who. you. Let's go backwards from worst to first. Bills, A to F. Why are you just throwing it out there that the Bills are the worst? They're the worst last year. Worst record. Oh, record wise. I'm going to give the Bills a D. They're doing the best with what they have. D for doing. I mean, they got Nick Barnett, he's a nice player. Brad Smith could potentially be interesting in a chain daily. style offense, he's coached guys like Cordell Stewart in the past, he's gotten something out of these slash type players. They're buffalo, no one wants to go play there, they're terrible, it's a terrible city, I mean it really is, it's awful. And it's terrible. And it's cold, it's like winter in... October it's old and it's the opposite of what gets people to go play for for other teams Which is you know have they won have they won in the past they have a chance of winning Yes, they're always is the first they lost four Super Bowls in a row in the early 90s, and that's what they have That's it. It's it. I haven't won a playoff game and God. I don't even think they made the playoffs I'm gonna give them a C- Why? Because they actually sign people who kind of matter. That's it. That's it. I just feel that the big thing to me is that... Brad Smith only matters because he was a jet. If he was not a jet, if Brad Smith was a Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he'd be like, oh, whatever, they signed a kick returner. And then you'd be like, that's not even Devin Hester. But if a kick returner who's run back, you know, multiple times... And it's not even Devin Hester. Who plays a lot of it. They signed Justin Miller. Oh my god. That's all I got. Alright, I still say same minute. It's on Josh Cribbs. Miami Dolphins. Second worst last year for their seven to nine performance. I think the Dolphins have done a pretty decent job. If they can get O'Hara, who they've been looking at, still I believe unsigned by anybody.
04 Justin: That's an if. I think they've done okay. I'm going to give them a C. Let's see. Let's see. I'm not sure if Bush could be the every down back for them and I don't think they have another one So that's a little puzzling. Maybe they'll just bring back Ronnie or Ricky. I'd bring back Ricky if I were them Just more dependable. I think yeah, I think he I think Ronnie Ricky both have that they're both kind of big bruising runners. So you want a guy who... You want Reggie Bush to just be part of the third down package. I mean they're gonna run, you know, they're gonna run a little different offense obviously. They have a different coordinator. And maybe they'll figure out a way to do some more Reggie Bush style stuff, throw them in the slot, use them. I mean he was a weapon when he was on the field. Yeah. Just thought it was really a running back. Right. And I think the thing with Reggie Bush is what's his motivation anymore. There's a thing about guys winning a Super Bowl ring two years ago. What's the motivation to keep going? I'm not sure. I'm not sure that team has, you know, this is a big... This is a big upgrade. He's going to pound the ball. No, I don't see that. Well, they could. Again, if they sign O'Hara, right? You get Jake Long, you get the rookie Pouncey who's... If he's anything like his brother, he'll be decent. His brother's really good. Yeah, but a rookie coming out just because he's good as his brother. Well, they came from the same college. They were drafted around the same position. They play the same position. I don't think they have the running weapons that they had. So they better get a weapon. Well, what's your grade? I give a... I mean, I think it's higher just because I think they did stuff. They went for people. But I really think they get a knock for the QB because when you make a big statement like that and you try to go for a guy, and then they weren't going for Peyton Manning. They were going for... What were they supposed to go for? Huh? Who are they supposed to go for? I'm saying, but when you go out and you make it very publicly known that you're going for Kyle Orton off the fucking Bears, it's like, you know, who again had a good season. He was with Denver for the last three years. That's okay. And then went to Denver. Yeah, he did. I know, you just said... Kyle Orton from the Bears he was I'm saying where he started was he started as a guy who played as a backup in the Bears and then because they had hurt guys He started and then he was good enough to trade away in the double trade with Cutler Yeah, say any of that stuff gone. Well, I like I like I like correcting. Yeah, I Just it's not like you're trading away. Is he top? 15 quarterback material in the league? No. Is he top 20? Maybe. He's not better than Chad and he really. That's the thing, it's like you make a big deal. So what were they supposed to go for? Well, I don't know. I mean on the market, I would be young. Who were they supposed to go for? Have you called? No. So what were they really supposed to do? There was no quarterbacks. That's why you gave them a B-minus.
00 Justin: I just think they still have a quarterback issue. This is this. Chad in his third year. We'll see if he can get it done. Right? Any third year? Should be. Third, I think. Yeah, it's his third year, so this is it. So, I mean, I keep giving him a pass. I mean, third year, he didn't start game one in his first year, right? Is this his third? Is he the same year as Sanchez? So think about that. Would you completely give up on Sanchez if he didn't start all of year one and then he started? half of year two because you were like, oh, he's not doing what we thought and you think you're better than you are, so you don't stick with him. I mean, sort of just mismanaging him then. Right, but that mismanagement can make or break quarterbacks. So I just don't think he has it in him. Also, I do end up watching a lot of Dolphin games. I think Chad Henney is, he has real accuracy problems. I just saw him have a really good game against the Jets, the first. game that we played last year. Well, you can have a good game. You can also have no Rebus on the field, but you still have a really good game. All right, so then. We're next, yeah. We're next. A plus next. A plus next. I say a solid A. I mean, you did what you had to do. A plus next. A plus if we had landed one more guy. I don't know. I'm actually. Thanks for watching. happy that the Nnamdi situation turned out the way it was. Well you say that now, but if we had Nnamdi we'd be sitting here- I'm saying 2020. We'd be here going bougie with us. We wouldn't have, we wouldn't have plaques. We wouldn't have Braelyn. Who said that? We wouldn't have the money. I don't know if that's true. No way! That's true, send plaques for 3 million, we're gonna pay- The Cromarti plus plaques equals Nnamdi. That's true. still I don't know I don't know what it came from somewhere else but I don't know the inner workings of the finances and then New England we also signed back some smaller you know we signed back hunter and Turner the O line is pretty much intact so all those things good things like the Giants on my we're gonna get there don't jump ahead you're gonna jump ahead You threw this, and New England sort of threw me off. Hey, they did a good job. I don't know. I have two players who both are risks. I think they're 50-50 players. I think they did a good job. They got him for nothing. That's what you want. But if they don't work out... If O2SQL doesn't work out... He will work out. He's the one that will. If he doesn't... their receiver core is hurting. Because then... Not really. It's the same as it was last year. Which was perfectly fine. Yeah, I think people were going to adopt it their last year. And I don't think they're going to do as well pass in the ball as they did last year. And Welker's still fantastic. Yeah, Welker's fantastic. Tate's a second year player. So he'll be better than he was. Maybe. Maybe. Looked like he was going to be fairly decent. Branch is pretty good. Yeah, I think branches fits that scene pretty well hunters. All right, so Good grades. What else what else we got on the agenda Randy Moss retired who cares moving on big other trades
03 Justin: Who cares he was one of the guys who was in the mix I know if we send Randy Moss I'd have been upset. Yeah, I sadly enough I'd much prefer Plax Go Burris out of jail for two years because Moss pretty much played like he was in jail last year. He was terrible. Until he scored on three teams. He was terrible. Oh, that's true. He didn't win a game after he left New England. I think he literally lost every game he played in. McNabb. McNabb to the Vikes. Vikings interesting team that... year. I think McNabb gives them something. And then they lost to DeRice. Yeah, that's not good. Not good for them. But I think McNabb gives them something. I think it's, I still feel like that guy's got, he's got stuff in the tank. Me too. He got a bad, again, Washington's where you go to die while you're there. And then you move on and you get a little better when you move on. I mean, I feel like they're gonna get something who's gonna play better than far up did last Yeah, that's it. So far if we did a B-minus I think this guy's gonna be a dream Peterson Their offense will be fine. They've Adrian Peterson and they have Percy Harvard and they'll be okay. They'll be okay and Yeah, I mean they got the they got an heir apparent they traded off Trevorrows Jackson over to Seattle. Yeah Seattle got Jackson and Sydney Rice and the Vikings old offensive coordinator. I don't think there will be someone to watch. I don't think so. Really? They're one of those teams that they play on a weak division. They'll go 7-9 again. They can not win the division. They can win the division 7-9 and then they can go beat the suitable chance. I feel like the Rams are gonna win that division this year. We'll do that in a later podcast. What else happened? Giants not doing much to help themselves, from what I can tell. They let like three offensive linemen go. That's not good. They did sign both the running backs. They did get Bradshaw in today. Yep. And they restructured or re-signed Jacobs. And. They signed a center from the Niners 49ers who I'd never heard of and I know like Kevin boss is still out there as a free agent. They're not not doing much. They're there They're first round pick is not in camp really there's this thing We'll segue into this since it's on my agenda. There are these unsigned first round draft picks and they're all between 17 and 24. Okay, so there's this thing this year with the new rules that people are figuring out like the rookies make a lot less money and they're pretty much slotted. Like if you're picked, you know, 15, this is what you're going to make. and the agents have sort of figured out, well, it's just gonna all be guaranteed money. So all the rookies are signing like these four year deals,
00 Justin: worth what they're supposed to be worth, all guaranteed. You know there's a big scandal is that the calculation got leaked. And the calculation, the calculation. got a little screwed up like for like number 20, 21, somebody signed early, right? Signed for like, I don't know, $50,000 more than it was supposed to be, right? So from 17 to 24 there's this whole like, well that guy got... More so like if I'm picked before him I'm not gonna make less than him because he got picked after me right so there's this whole thing and then there's also like number 24 like I said, they're all like these four-year deals number 24 got the first three years guaranteed Number 17 got all four years So if you're between the two, well if I'm 18 I want what 17 got. And even if you're 23 you're like, well I'm not 24, I'm 23. I want what 17 got. So all these guys that are bunched in the middle of 17 and 24 are not signed except for like number 20. Like one guy who threw the whole thing off because he got like $50,000 more than he was supposed to and the guy before him was supposed to be like... to make glass. So like threw the whole thing off and the Giants guy, Prince Akumara, Akumakumara, the Prince, not in camp. No, not in camp because he's part of this group of players. So the prediction this year, and we'll have to hold this true and think about this, and someone smarter than I, with a better calculator math than I will, will go out there and say, Alright. Of the teams that had the most returning players, with most veteran returning players, and the least amount of changes, did that statistically help them or not because of this off-season thing? Basically, there was no off-season. It was, there was none. It was draft and then the start of training camp, and a free agency of five days. Will that actually make an effect on player performance, thinking we got now, we got six weeks or five weeks to get to, well six weeks to get to the beginning of football. Will that actually make a difference? Will it make a difference to have all these players who normally go to mini camps, we go to OTX, we go to signings and books and all this sort of, you know, and we'll get to that. get the playbook, or book signings, or get the playbook, or be able to do all this stuff that they don't even do. So guys who walk in today, it'll just be interesting, because then I think it'll either give validity to those programs and say, look, those programs actually help, or it'll just say, nah, they're a waste of time. You know, look, the team who won this year had the most returning, had the most rookies, most people came in at camp on the, you know, the second of August, and they won the Super Bowl. So it'll be interesting. Same. Going forward I think just as we go forward the season as people look in the quarters of the season and go
00 Justin: You know what teams are doing Well We'll have to look back to say were there a team that was returning with a lot of players and coaches or is this a team That is sort of getting lucky. There's one other signing. Yep that Since we're gonna be talking a little fancy this year. Yeah, so let's break the news here fantasy. Well, let's break the news Let's let's do the signing and the whole news this could have some fantasy impact Vante leech The best fullbacks in the whole league. Jake: Besides ours. Justin: Besides Richardson's not resigning. He's out there as a free agent if anyone wants him. John Connor is the guy. So, Fonte Leech who led, lead, lead blocked, was the lead blocker for Arian Foster last year on the Texans, has left the Texans, signed... one of the largest contracts ever for a full back to go play for the Ravens. He will now be lead blocking for Ray Rice. Ray Rice and La'Ron McLean is out. So an interesting little tidbit there. Big full back movement. Did Ray Rice just become like the guy all around nobody else guy? His value probably just went up in a fantasy draft because he's got this guy who's lead blocking. Blocked for the league leader and Russia when you picked him last year in two different leagues. Oh We picked him in one league last year I thought you bought him in two leagues and you bought him a purchase league and you picked him in another league No, no, all right. Not me some other schmuck. Okay So yeah, let's break the news. So the jet Kingdom podcast is gonna embark upon its first year You're old hat it at fancy football. I'm a noob And we're going to put in a segment into the Jet Kingdom podcast doing some fantasy stuff. How we do that and what we do we'll decide on the moment. We'll figure something out. But basically we're going to spend 5-10 minutes in our podcast. Besides talking about the jazz, we're going to talk about fantasy stuff. We'll have to figure out what we want to do with that segment. But it seems to be too big to ignore at this time. It's like, you know, it's too big to ignore. have to do it. I think it'll be fun. I think it'll bring some of our you know it'll bring some of our maybe it'll be just Jets focus like if you were to start these players this is the player I'd start or sit this week out of the Jets or maybe the AFC East and we'll do it something that keeps it close to home. Maybe you and I will do a separate little competition on the pod where we pick like a player a week and we can't pick that player twice. from any team across like we'll basically pick 17 players stutter dud is kinda like a stutter dud yeah the stutter dud game is you pick a player camping team twice as your stud of the week and then you get whatever points they score yeah let's do that this week and that'll or this year and that'll parlay us into our fantasy alright so that'll be one of our many comp Yeah, we have to compete. We have to compete to make it good. Alright, so now we have a couple tweets before we end the podcast. We have two. Why don't you lead off our first tweet of the week?
01 Justin: Emerson Knapp. Always good for a good tweet. That's true. Our buddy Bill Knapp or at Emerson Knapp on the Twitterverse. Tweets at Just Check Kingdom. at Just Jack Kingdom. I would appreciate it. If you would address the lengthy holdout of Bob Boberson, thanks. Bob has not reported to camp just yet. What do we say he was, like an offensive lineman? Bob's a guard. He's a guard. He's a left guard. He's a right guard. He's about 416 pounds. He wears the number 69. He's awesome. His agent, Sally Salerson, has not gotten in touch with... Tanny yet to the worst part about losing awesome Wah is that I thought I coined the one of the best hashtags with awesome awesome Wah, I thought that was awesome and yet we didn't sign them now you can't use it now I can't use it. It's dies. It dies. Those are fucking stacked You know the good news about the Eagles being stacked from the just point of view is that it'll take a little bit of attention of the entire NFL over to them. I kept seeing pictures of like like headlines about the Eagles with pictures of like the Miami Heat and I was like wow that's great if we if we had signed awesome walk we would have gotten it they were I already saw the article came up before we signed him saying are the jets the the heat of New York like literally it already started so I'm it's kind of nice to get that pressure off I I don't want to ride too much under the weather But, or under the thing, but I like that we're, you know. Under the what? Under the radar. The thing? The radar. The thing? Just things? Things happen. Stuff? We got one more tweet. From G. Scott, 1847. I hope that's not his age. It's a year. Yeah, I hope that's not his birth date. He doesn't look that old in any way. He looks probably 30 something years old. Because I, Jet Kingdom, was either one, the only one who noticed via Twitter while Rex and Brionland were good. While Rek's team mate was good, etc. he didn't say good, wide, received. He was a good blocker. He was a good wide, received. Don't tell you something. I don't know what Rek got, but he did his own thing. It's the same thing with Rives, like you gotta say he's the greatest guy ever, but when you're not gonna sign him, we'll do fine without him. You know Leonard he's the greatest guy ever but now he's hurt and well we'll survive without him You know you gotta play both sides of the fence Again good receiver he's you gotta put him in the good receiver category You know worth worth big money and belong-term contracts from the New York Jets. No, I mean we got him through We need someone immediately first Sanchez this year He did well enough to keep him for the second year. I don't think there was any, I don't think anybody at any time was really looking to sign him again. I just honestly think the organization knew from Git that they were not going to sign him again and they were going to go after someone else. All the stuff that happened in five days, you know they've had a plan in place for five months to do.
01 Justin: So the five months, you know, yes, Austin Wall was a five month plan, but they also had the plan, the sub plan. You know, in Tani we trust. The plan to make the plan, the meeting to talk about the plan. Yeah, that's true. And the plan for us is... What is it? It is to go to JetCainan.com to see all the podcasts and all that. We will do a refresh of the website before the... Really? Promising it. Are you serious? I'll update it. Really? Yeah. Like it will look different? Maybe a little different. All right. I'll do something. A lot of work. Nah, I'll do it. Between now and the beginning of the season, I'll do a refresh. A lot of work. Yeah, we've gotta add something to it.
