00:18 Jake: I Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast, the longest running New York Jet Podcast. Period. I'm Jake, and joining me after our two week, our week and a half hiatus, for a long time, Justin. Justin, how are you doing today? I'm all right. I'm okay. Yeah, you gotten over your season being over. My season's not over. Your season's over. My season is not over. Okay. We have, well, first of all, we have to do a little apology. No. Justin: Yes. No, you can apologize. I'm apologizing for you. You don't, no, I'm not including, I reject that. We were traveling. I said right I said Jake: right Well, we produced three other podcasts while we were there. That's why we couldn't do this one. Justin: Haha, so just to be true, there was three. That's where you rate in priority order, listeners. Jake: So anyway, we didn't do it, but we did watch both games. Did not listen to either game. No, no audio. No, we didn't. No audio. We were in bars, watching it. in silence, which were on the west coast was painful. San Francisco will be until it'll be probably a month and a half before I'll actually watch a watch a Jets game on the TV with sound. Think about it. You know, it's crazy. Justin: Yeah, we were. So we were in San Francisco. Yes. And a week ago, Thursday. Yes. According this on Thursday was the Jets Pats game. We'll go back further to Denver in a minute. But this little quick anecdote. So we're in the bar watching the Jets and the Patriots. And the last drive is sort of coinciding with the Giants hitting a walk off home or an event to go to the World Series. And then the bar is blowing. Oh insane. It's insanity and we're just sitting there at our little table like three of us watching Biting our nails watching the Jets and we're the only people disappointed blocking out Everybody else is having the best time to ever and then our the kit gets blocked and we're like fuck and we leave Yeah, we leave and everyone else is having that they're out the rest of the night Jake: I think if we so we traveled to San Francisco for you know
03:01 Jake: in the fall season almost every year for this event that we go to anyway um and we've been out there jets play and i think the record of the jets while we have been out there is like one and six yeah i think we won one time maybe the bills the bills perhaps i remember that one the The Patriots won we got destroyed 45 3. Yep Thursday last year. We got beat by EJ manual and the bills now It's brutal to this year. We had beat twice Denver and We lose a lot. So it's not good for us and I'm I'm sure if I thought I could think of another one or two Oh, anyway So we're gonna talk about the Jess versus Broncos. We're gonna talk about the Jess versus Patriots. We're gonna talk about the news because, you know, here we go. There's been some news. There's been some. Justin: I feel like the news is more interesting than just going back to the Denver game. Well, we gotta talk about it a little bit. Let's do a quick one on the Denver game. Jake: Well, we'll do a quick one on both of them. Yeah. And then we'll do our pick-em. We'll do our thrown picks. Oh, we'll talk about the game of the week. Talk about the keys of the castle before beating the Schmuffleo Schmills. And then we'll get the fuck out of here. So let's do it. Oh, we got a game tonight. So there's a Thursday night game. Awesome. I'm still loving it. I know everybody hates Thursday night games, but I'm kind of liking it because like on a week like this week where I'm not going to actually see any games because... whatever, there's no games that, you know, I'll be at the stadium for the entire day, that it's nice to actually get a game in. Like I get, and not even a bad game. This is a good game. This is actually a good game. I'm excited. So let's go. First, let's talk about, let's talk about our two losses. Oh my God. You know, what's so crazy about these two losses was against Broncos. Justin: Let me say something about these two losses. I feel like they were the best two games we've play it all year. Probably like we played really well in the Denver game. I thought full score 31 17. It was 24 17 It's my 4 17 You know we held He threw his pick at the it's pick six, but we We weren't I mean that was you know, he's putting a tough spot He's gonna have to drive like 90 something yards with no timeouts under a minute that wasn't happening for a touchdown. So But to hold Peyton Manning to 24 and didn't make it happen. And then against the Pats, same thing. Like we had, this is like the recurring theme. We are not having game winning drives here. We're not closers. But I feel like there were the best two games that we've played the whole season because even the win, the one win. We didn't play great. We just played a shitty team. It was 0 and 6. Jake: I think this is a... I mean, if you're really looking at the...
06:02 Jake: I mean, what are we? Week 8? So next week will be halfway through the season. Um... If you're really looking at like what the Jets are and like compared to last year, last year we had a couple of those games where we won in the fourth quarter. Like we had those fourth quarter kicks. the fourth quarter, missed, made that field goal. We had the penalty. We had the Atlanta game. I mean, then we had those games. That kind of kept us alive. This year, you can just see this team can't play a full game. And I think actually the Pats game was the fullest game we played. We played all the way down into the last second, which we missed the kick, but I mean. Up to that point, that was a team that was playing. Maybe not the first three plays where they would, again, we just give up a huge drive. Justin: We gave up a huge play. But aside from that, I mean, they played the Pats as good as you're going to play them in New England. Well, let's talk about the night. Let's talk about those Broncos first. So, so this is by the way, we're out of the gauntlet. Jake: Yeah, we didn't win one of these because we'd be in good position. Justin: People who think they're sitting all pretty with their schedules. We'll see what happens when they have to run through some of these teams, right? We just have them all in a row, right? Well, but now we get to sort of flip into what I would consider more of an in a third place schedule, finally. But second place last year, where are we? Yeah, see that screwed us because we were tied. Actually, it's only two game flip, but but this whole. Like the way that these games were aligned like. Playing in Green Bay for their home opener and then getting some of these teams in a row with these quarterbacks and these offenses and Just not Didn't set up very well for us. So anyway, Denver. What do you want to say? They played all right? They played the best team in the league at this point Yep, and you know, no one could stop the Mary's Thomas. No one could stop Julius Thomas on the goal line Nobody else can either and we couldn't run for shit against them. So that was kind of it. That was a little strange. I thought we would be able to run. Jake: Well, they're really good run defense. Yeah. I think the defense is pretty good. Yeah, they're just a good team. Justin: How do they do that? How does that happen? Jake: How do they... Well, because it goes against your theory of you don't pay a big guy and then become a good team. Justin: Well, it's... They pay a lot of guys. Like how do they fit that in there? Jake: We'll see next year when we have $170 billion. Justin: How do they have like paid Manning, who's got to be one of the highest paid players in the league? And then how do you fit like a cube to leave? TJ Ward, DeMarcus Ware, like how are they able to go sign these guys? Jake: I think they're all in on a couple of years. I mean, they know that unlike the Jets who just, you know, have a brand new general manager who's not thinking. and wasn't thinking about last year, I said this all last year, I said everything I saw that guy do last year was one year, was like three year and beyond. Like everything else one year was like throwaways. Same thing he's doing this year. Izzik is on a plan for multiple years. The Broncos are looking at their quarterback who's 39, 40 years old and they're going, yeah, we. That ain't gonna happen. We need to have we need to win now. So they're going all in in two years
09:03 Jake: I bet you the Broncos will be a six and ten team when when Manning goes. Yeah, but then they'll just terrible Justin: They'll have no talent anywhere. Well, that's still like to me. They're still really I'm looking at their roster. They're they're really talented team everywhere Like they have they have Vaughn Miller. They have Demarcus where on the other side They make big guys in the middle Yeah, offensive lineman who are you know, clades great offensive lineman and then they have Obviously Manning they've Welker Sanders was really affordable to Mary's Thomas. Not sure if they're paying him yet Julie's Thomas not paying him. Yeah, both of them are Mary's not paying Jake: They both they both just does the news today that both no more talks of their contracts as you guys are both getting paid Yep serious box Let them go like they did Decker. Yep Those two guys are very key. They'll keep one and they'll let the other one go Well, they play different positions. I understand but you can't pay them both I think they would end up cutting Welker before they would the Welkers knock anything towards their cap Justin: Why are we talking about the Denver? But I don't know cuz I'm trying to figure out how they're able to like Jake: You know, amass all this talent around Well, I think that's part of it too. When you're a player who's like doing in your off season and you're like DeMarcus Ware who hasn't sniffed a playoff game ever in his career I think maybe he played a game and lost. So you're looking around, you're like, well, okay, where do I want to go? Or keep to leave who I don't think a sniff day playoff game, maybe played last year with played on the Pats for two years. And so now he's thinking, all right, I want to actually go and I want to have a chance to win. So let's go to that team. So there's a, there's a way of getting players that is better when they're, whether you're a winning team that has a shot at the Super Bowl every year. and it just came off the Super Bowl. So anyway Denver game, I don't know, thoughts on the game? I wish I had gone back, instead of playing Madden Mobile, and watched the, actually started to, it was 44 minutes, even the condensed version. I was like a 44 minute condensed version of a game. So I didn't watch the recap of this. I mean my feelings during the game was why can't we why can't we run on these guys? We're not able to you know could not get it going. It just felt like we were always playing from behind. I thought we had the right the defense has been right for the last two weeks but it's these big plays. These these big broken plays that we just get crushed on and then we see one or two. Per game. Oh, yeah, I mean like there's a highlight reel out there like look at these wide open guys getting touchdowns Yeah, I mean, I don't think anybody played Amazingly, I mean a Maro was our to pick a fool not a knight. Yeah. All right fool for that game Justin: I pick Jason Maro. I love Jason Maro Jake: Fool for the game for the Denver game Denver Justin: Hmm Denver hmm. Do you know I'm gonna give it to a guy who I can't give it to anymore D milliner
12:05 Jake: Last one there you go cuz you're going as you're out cuz you're gone Ruptured that Achilles right on the spot. Oh trying to block a field goal. Then the last Jesus. I know And you called it, it was weird you called it. You're like, that looks like an Achilles. I'm like, really? You just watched a guy like it was the way he did it. It was the way he walked off. Justin: It was the way like he pushed off. It happened on the push off. So like, what do you use to push off? Well, just look that way. I don't know. Why do you doubt me when we watch? I don't know. Sometimes I'm always right on this shit. Why do you doubt me? Jake: I guess I'm going to have to give it to the runt, to the. to the to the running game. A whole running game in general. Three of them. That's your leading runner with seven yards. Yeah, I mean that's pathetic. Justin: 31 total yards. I mean come on Chris Ivory. Eight rushes for seven yards. You're better than that. Jake: You showed us the next game. So let's move on to that next time. Alright so next game then, oh with a lot of rest we had four days to go then back to New York to rest for a day to then go back up to New England to play you know oh the shitty Patriots and Shit, I mean we just said we know we're gonna do we're kicking a shit ton of field goals We're gonna kick those don't be patriots Justin: You can't they almost did it one more and we would have we scored on every drive in the first half Yeah, but we scored 12 points Yeah scored on every drive. We went down the field and folks kicking Jake: 22 yard field goal. This is going to be known as the this is going to be known as the Percy Harvin game because we're going to get to the person here and obviously but the one of the things about Percy Harvin is they're like you just signed in one week to two eight because this is a game that we needed guys who could make plays and we don't have a lot. So, again, whether you believe in the Izzic philosophy... It's just it's not like materializing. It's like it's not materializing when your draft is like full guys you're cutting and not even playing. Like is it philosophy is working? Is there really a talent on that team on this team? And it's really not a lot of talent. It's like a couple guys here and there but it's like talk about you know Denver Broncos. Is this a talented team? Not really. Um... Justin: Unfortunately not and they went out and signed guys in the offseason Yeah, it seemed like good signings and they did Decker to me still seems like a very good signing solid Yeah, Chris Johnson not so much. He's seeming like seems like what we saw is what he is. Yeah, Tennessee's kind of over it Yep, he'll have moments. He will he ran well in this game in the Patriots game. I thought I repeat him up And Johnson went in there in the second half, got a bunch of nice runs in. Jake: Well that seems to be the thing, like if you can get Ivory going so the defense gets tired and then you bring in a little bit of lightning, then it kinda works. Ivory can beat, he beat him up, he really did. I mean he really knocked him out.
15:04 Justin: He ran through, over, around, he gave him the ball, it was falling forward for six yards. I mean it was really hard running. Jake: I think the thing that sort of disappointed me the most is our special teams at this point It just feels like we're just not a special team a good you don't need to be a great special teams but you just don't need to be like like below average and I didn't find that they were that bad in this game. This is the one that we but I'm saying of the last seven I Really kick returning kick returns that's over like that that's like a rarity no but our guy tries to pull it out every Justin: time if you if you're starting he tries every time i don't mind that try and he get locked into ten it happens it's it's not something that i feel like the nfl took that play out of the game and if they really want to do it right they do what college does which is You if you take a knee and you down it you get it at the 25 That gives you a little bit more of an incentive to say okay. They don't want me to return this anyway I won't return it. I'll get it at the 25 or go ahead and kick it through the end zone I'll take it at the 25. I think 25 is more reasonable If you want to take your chances and pull it out, you get tackled at the 15 or at the 20. You might have still had a 25 yard return, but you're at the 18. Jake: This was a game where I felt like it was the perfect game plan. Even though it didn't work out, it felt good. We were getting to them. We were stopping there, run. They couldn't run for shit. . Other than you know, I mean they were throwing to very they were throwing they weren't running. They didn't even try to run Well, they have 15 attempts. We have very much runners I mean, they don't really have a running team, but we could run the shit out of it. That was good We were taking time we were scoring at least when we had the ball we were going to stick every number on the planet Did we do the 51 or the 57 or the whatever? Yeah, we should have won this game Justin: I mean if you look at it, we had 40 was that 43 rush attempts plus 20 completions and that's 63 that's a big number we had the ball for what we had the ball like 40 minutes yeah 41 minutes it's crazy we had the ball for we had 28 first downs they only had 16 We were nine of six down, so we weren't out. Um, I mean, we, we had a hundred more yards than they did. We ran 30 more plays than the Patriots. The crazy. Jake: They can't win it. We out. Rush them to. 18 does not three. Justin: Because we're not talented enough to win. We just didn't have it. And in the end, they had.
18:18 Jake: We don't and we have Gio Smith I'm a special Russian game special team. Justin: Both of the like the big the big touchdown to Ridley was Antonio Allen. Yep and The final touchdown to Amendola was Antonio Allen and they move him around too much, right? He's not that good. He's not good. He needs to be playing opposition. Tell him what he's playing corner or safety You can't move him around. It's not fair to him. No, stop it Jake: Oh, we lost both games. So here we are coming in and we have some news. Finally, some good news or interesting news. I guess we could get to the little stuff and then we'll get to the big stuff. Talks with Moe have kind of slowed down. Mo have kind of slowed down, so there's no talks with Mo. No, and that's fine. Justin: It's fine. That's fine. He'll get signed. end. He doesn't need it now. It'll happen in the offseason or whatever. Jake: But we did sign Curly to a four-year extension. I think it's like five or six million dollars guarantees, 21 million dollars overall. Seems team friendly. Team friendly. You know, I think Curly is someone I'm kind of disappointed in. Generally, I feel like he should be... That go-to guy, but they're not going to him. It's always third down. I'm like, all right, look for Curly. And then he's shooting it to the tight end. I'm like, oh, why is he not hitting Curly? Why is Curly not in the slot? Why is he not there for it? Justin: Curly needs to be the number three receiver. Yeah. He is the slot receiver. Guess what? Jake: So, the day after this terrible game that we lost on Thursday night, big news hits, big news hits, traded with the Seahawks, Percy, funny fantasy, little side note. Didn't play this week or that week because of the middle, you know He his team played on Thursday where his old, you know, he basically missed a week Plus he yes the bye of Denver which he already or the die of Seattle was your totally food barring No, and then he took the bar and we have our bike coming up So there's three weeks that he's not gonna play. What does that have to do with fantasy? I just did something
21:01 Jake: Interesting fantasy tidbit. You just did something that Justin: Is is very prevalent these days in sports news about football Yeah, so I was watching about Calvin Johnson. Yes, and it was not a fantasy report, but it wasn't a fantasy report. It was a Calvin Johnson superstar and NFL is injured and he's practicing, right? And at the end the report, it was like, But keep in mind, they play really early so get your lineups. It was like, what the fuck? Alright, like stop it. Why? What do you care? But that wasn't what the- it wasn't a fantasy guy. It wasn't like a fantasy report. So? It was a report. Jake: It was like- I practice but you realize that football and fantasy before now becoming so intertwined Justin: I know that little tip was an interesting Percy Harvin tidbit. Yeah, yeah fantasy did well as a fancy Brand with three you can't play. I'm like three games like this guy is only Capable of playing 15 games this year right and for you fancy guys Jake: Lower his value. So it's I guess the the it's really a conditional pick next year either fourth the highest fourth and as low as a six is my understanding. For a guy that two years ago took three picks to get from first to third and a seven. From that point alone it seems like, and he's not hurt, it's not like we just traded for a guy who's hurt. Or he's constantly hurt. Well he's an injury risk. I understand. But like, you know. Okay, we get Percy Harvey. What are your thoughts? Like, uh, um, no risk, all reward on this one I think. What could be the reward? Tell me what the reward could be. Justin: Okay, he makes our offense click meaning he comes in and all of a sudden we're not like scoring 17 points and we're not going three and out and guys are more open because we have a little we have a we have a playmaker a guy who can kind of do anything on the field he can be a receiver he He can be running back, he can run different kinds of plays. You can do more short. conservative type of throws to him like really short like wide receiver screen type of stuff that we don't have a guy we can really do that with. Isn't that curly though? Jake: No. Why is that not curly? Isn't curly supposed to be our small fast guy? He's not as talented. So but is that talent like he can't paint very well or not Justin: fast? Talented like not as fast not as good doesn't have the same pedigree. OK, like this is a first round draft pick. Curly was a fifth. There's a reason. Yeah. Jake: I mean, well, where you drafted, there are people who are playing. Justin: Sure. Tom Brady drafted sixth round. Fine. But first round talent grade from a pure like that's all like. Go to the combine, runs faster. Right.
24:01 Justin: you know, does everything better from a, you know, purely athletic standpoint. Jake: So what's the so the upside downside here? I don't see it. There's a downside. What is it? Well downside is that it just doesn't work. Then we lost the fifth or sixth round pick. The sixth round pick. Fine. I think the downside also is that, uh, Again, I'm looking for a solid building team, and this feels a little bit funny. If this was two weeks ago, it would have felt like a desperation thing, but now that the jets, although not mathematically, but according to everybody on the planet, are totally out of everything this year, it feels a little bit like... All right, we're gonna get this guy. He could work out. It's kind of like the San Antonio Holmes. I feel like he's gonna do great this year. I feel like he'll be great. Like there'll be moments, he'll be like, yeah, Percy Harman. But then all the other stuff that he has, like obviously his locker room present stuff, which is not a positive, and then maybe his injury stuff steps in. And I feel like in the end of this, Like at the end, when we're at the end of this process, the end of the Percy Harvard era at the Jets, I feel like it's not gonna be good. What's the end now? Justin: Here's the difference. Yeah. He has a contract for two more years. Okay. Not guaranteed at all. So at the end of this year, if we're like, that didn't work. Right. I think it's $7 million. Cut, no losses. But that's this year. Fine. homes we traded for and then needed to basically re up otherwise we would have I Mean we've that would have been considered a complete stupidity, right and he played well This guy plays well He's still getting paid like a top five receiver in the league and he shouldn't complain and there should be no ifs ands or buts Like you've got your contract. You're good to go If we cut him, no cap hit, no nothing. So it's really a nine game trial. And if he brings something to the offense, if he can make Gino better, if he can, you know, gain some yards, if he can play Jake: special teams, if he can do all those things, then great. Do you want him to make Gino better at this point? Really? Yeah, Yeah, why wouldn't I want him to make my quarterback better? Do you want him to be just good enough so they don't go out and get a new guy? Isn't that a concern? Well, I mean, here's the thing. No, if he could show- Here's the thing that we don't have sitting back there. Taj Boyd, obviously, he's playing in the Canadian- He's playing in some crazy place. You want Taj Boyd. I want Taj Boyd back, but no. I kind of feel like this is the time in the year that if Michael Vick wasn't Michael Vick, right, and old and on a one-year, and you see it all over the league, this guy's like, Zach and Mettenberg is going to start this week. Everybody's moving to their heir parents. Everybody is starting their rookies except Johnny Menzel.
27:00 Jake: Exactly, which is one of the big there's like six trades that trades that need to happen and one of them is trade mantle to the Jazz, so you could just duck butter all over. Oh, no. No Really? Mr. I was gonna draft him last year wait till he's worth nothing and then well, he's worth nothing now Justin: Well, they're not gonna trade him to you for anything but a first round pig Jake: I just feel like this is like, and you have said this a million times, we've seen enough tape on this guy. He ain't gonna excel. Let's see what he can do with the best set of things that he's ever had. Justin: Isn't that the excuse that we always use? Let's see what he can do next year. Well, didn't Sanchez have his best years with Kottree, Edwards and Holmes? Yeah. Once he lost. And a lights out defense. No, offensively. Mm-hmm. Once he lost... And the schedule he had. Once he lost... Edwards and Cottree, and it was down to Holmes and a bunch of other guys, and then Holmes got out for the whole year, then he turned, then he turned to shit. So, some quarterbacks, it doesn't matter. Jake: Right. Some of just the good ones. Agreed. Doesn't Justin: Wouldn't a really great receiving running back in Vereen. We just saw it. I Mean, he's got weapons. He's got like Gronk is like he's best weapon you can have Jake: They're talking about trading trading to like to Arizona to get fits or something cuz they don't have weapons They're like making do with guys who are but is Brady looking like, you know Earlier in the season when Gronk wasn't really fully back yet Yeah, pretty like Brady's done. Yep. Well Brady done then they just changed their plan and they make him better I don't know he's not done. I mean you look at young guys even like Justin: Andrew Luck, he's got Reggie Wayne. He's got all right. He's got to your Jake: Your broadcaster your professional broadcaster. I'm just a fan If I want I'm gone then fucking no, but I'm asking you I'm asking you Haven't you lost that loving feeling at this point? Don't you know everything you're gonna get out of Gino at this point? what more most fire but I wouldn't mind seeing what the hell you can do with Justin: Decker and Harvin on the field at the same time with ivory running the rock and curly in the slot and now it's like oh Who do we account for isn't that the worst part of this that he could do? Above that the best part about this at the same time why is that the worst part about it? Jake: I think I think he's I think that's the point He'll show us you're like you'd rather him do bad
30:02 Jake: Yeah, so so we can do well because I just but if he does well He's not gonna do well enough to win why why wouldn't you watch it and be like? Justin: Oh, maybe if he had the right team around him. He's actually decent decent I don't want decent anymore dude well then you know what you need you need to go one in 15 and get the first round overall pick and pray like fuck that the guy is in a bust I want to keep those are all the things you need to do you need to do that you can draft no I don't Jake: want to you don't have to do you don't have to grab first round to get a great quarterback but this guy he ain't it but wait you kind of take the stories but let me ask you a question if you took Justin: nick foals For example, yeah, put him on the Jets. You think he's any better? Nick Foles on the Jets. Yeah right now is the Him or do you think he is a product of the of the system that he plays in is Nick Foles better on the jet cuz he just said you don't need a first-round pick Jake: So I'm using a guy who's picked like in the second or third round go while why are we not talking about Kaepernick and Kaepernick and Wilson also, but Nick Foles So what's the question if you put him on the Jets is he better than he is now is he like does he look like? Yeah, does he look like this? What does Nick Foles look like at this point? Well, he's on a team. That's five and one so you tell me He's there there in an offense that slings the ball. That's what I'm asking you I think we came on he'd be a perfectly average quarterback Above average quarterback. I think he right now. He's an above average quarterback, but if he was on the jet I think he'd be an above average quarterback. You do you think he'd like Justin: Be okay like Michael Vick beat him out for that job last year. Yeah beat him. Yeah straight up. Yeah Okay Cuz I'm just wondering like where is this mythical? Jake: Quarterback coming from they're not it's not a myth. There's no myth. It's just there This is using your own words against you. No, you don't need that the theory used to be in in in In sports and NFL you need three years to evaluate this guy and two years evaluate this guy and 17 years evaluate this guy Like you know what? I was watching tape on on Peyton Manning the other day I'm not quite sure he's gonna he's gonna be turned out would be good. No Right now, the evaluation of quarterbacks is fast and furious, and you're either good or you're not good. Now, what I'm thinking is, I don't need any more tools around him to tell me what we've seen. He had better tools this year than he had last year, and he's been playing worse. What? So, a guy, he's going to turn around and he's not going to throw six picks? He's had one game without a pick all year. One game. time. He ain't, he's not there. And this, in this NFL. So then, so then. So my issue. Do you even want him to play the rest of the season? I wish we had a guy we could go to. Why can't you just, why are you saying that? Cause I wish we had a guy who we could go to. Go to the next guy. Because he's not a guy. Justin: You can't just have like, you don't draft a quarterback every year to be like,
33:01 Justin: Oh, the next guy. Oh, the next guy. That's not how you build the team. Jake: Some teams do that really like you Green Bay drafted quarterbacks almost every year when they had far they kept drafting That's cuz they had far. Yeah franchise guy who was old and they thought was gonna retire people Justin: That's not the same story drive every you're not every not every don't let every other year for the last 10 years They've drafted because they have a franchise guy who's getting old and they're waiting to see if he's gonna retire or fall apart. They went 10 years ago, they weren't. Jake: They just know that you have to keep drafting guys. Justin: But they don't draft a guy every year. They draft a guy every like three years Jake: and then they trade every other year. Then they trade. They drafted one this year. Yeah, and like the third, fourth round or whatever. They didn't draft one last year. Yeah, they did. Who? Mallet. Thanks for watching guys! That was two years ago? Two or three years ago? Two years ago. Three years ago. That wasn't three, it was two. So it was two years ago, and last three drafts, they drafted two quarterbacks. Seems like a high percentage to me. OK. Justin: But are these guys like, you'd rather draft some guy, like Zach Metzenberger or whatever, this year, and be like, oh, let's turn it over to Zach? Jake: So you're saying, you're telling me? Turn it over to Zach? You're telling me. See you next time! You haven't seen enough. We just did this guy. Wait, have you, you've not seen enough tape on Gino. You've not gone and seen enough. I've seen, I've seen. He's not, you don't know yet. I'm, Jury's out. Justin's jury's out. Stop it. Hashtag Justin's jury. Justin: That's a good one. Gino Smith is in all likelihood not. Like a franchise quarterback, but at this in the same respect. It's what we have now So why not see if a guy who is young and still being developed can actually play with with players around them? Okay, and and if you can't okay, why not have real players anyway? Well, bill players are great. Why not? Why not? Jake: It's kind of what happened last year. At the end of the year when we kind of weren't going to go anywhere anywhere, we're, you know, fighting for to get to eight and eight to save Rex's job, Gino played well for the last four games and we kind of left the season going, ah, this guy could started. This guy could be good. So let's get him some weapons. Let's get Jason Marle. Let's get. Let's get Decker. Let's put some weapons around this guy. Jason Morrow is not yet a weapon. He's a weapon. He drops a ball right in his breakfast. He does, but he's a weapon. Justin: He's borderline Stephen Hilligan. No.. and,. in I a the, he's borderline. Jake: He drops a pass every game right in his chest. He does. He does. He. at the moment. So we have, so they got him and oh and let's go get him
36:03 Justin: This is a turn from being a player thing to being a coaching thing and and it goes from man Two shots to develop What was a top five pick? To be a first round pan second And they've blown it with the first round guy sitting on the bench. Right. Kyle Orton is starting over. And they've blown the development of these two guys under the same head coach. I just feel like it's not I don't think when does that development thing really because I look at it as man Jake: That head coach doesn't know how to develop a quarterback. Oh, I totally agree that Rex a and . He's good. I don't know him very well, but I know he's talked about as being, oh, he's a good quarterback. So it's not, I don't think it's a Rex Ryan develops quarterbacks. Rex Ryan put together, you look at, you look at, you look at, Rex Ryan motivates teams, Rex Ryan puts together a defense. But there are head coaches though. Yes, there are. There Justin: are few and far between. Mark Tressman as an example. Okay. Harbaugh is an example. Yep, right, Harbaugh goes to San Francisco and forget Kaepernick. hypothal Alex Smith all of a sudden looks like a real quarterback. Reed, who makes quarterbacks look really good. defense that he's like he he just it's almost like he's like fuck it offense I'm not even listening to you I don't even hear your so truly I hear you talking Jake: it's like man genie at the end of man genie's reign I didn't really like man genie like I didn't like, and. Like him. Like I always liked him like I like. You love her. People didn't like him for his coaching and his time management is whatever but he was a likable fucking guy And Jeannie was never likable. He was like, you know fucking having sex with a prickly pear Trying to be Belichick jr. Is not likable Hm at all Yeah, but you have to have Super Bowl rings to be able to do that. Super Bowl rings. We're on the Cleveland You look good. We're on the Cleveland. We're on Cincinnati. We're on the bills I guess that's just my issue is that. What does that have anything to do with what we were just talking about? You still like racks? No, I like racks a lot. Everyone loves racks. I love racks. But you're right. Am I coming around on the is this really a head coach anymore? Is he a head coach that can put together a winning team? And the idea that you can sort of say, well, head coach can sort of be all defense.
39:00 Jake: and let's get this really good offensive coordinator. Well, it's not really good air, but a very good offensive quarter. and we'll have GM pull the pieces pieces together. Now maybe you then put together a talented team in two to five years, but I don't know if that, I don't know if that plan is, is going until it works at my team. I'm not gonna say it is. I agree. So I, we talked about this the other day. My, my, my super plan for the Jets, if you took me and put me in as the owner, I would say, I would say, rec, I don't care what the season ends with, recs. another year because he actually has two years on his contract. Another year. You're both on the third year. And that year, great. We'll talk extensions. Otherwise, you're both gone. And I'm starting from scratch. I want to go grab a really good GM who's then going to go hire his really good coach, and then we're going to start again. Because this whole like weird, now we're going to get into the firewrecks. the end of the year. Is it goes and gets a new head coach? Oh, okay. So now we're at like, Is it goes and gets at least two more years? Cause he's got his brand new head coach. So like, we're gonna be in one of those muddles again, you know? Um, anyway, Percy Harvard Trade, as a jet fan, who's actually gonna, who, who, who's gonna get money on the New York Jets, spends thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars on them. How many thousands? Is that four thousands? That's a lot of thousands. and who has to go sit in that fucking stadium and watch a team that basically is out of it who can't put together a winning season, I'm at least excited for that. That as a jet fan, just as a stupid fan who's obnoxious, unrational fan, I'm excited to go see on Sunday, this Sunday, see the Jets play the Bills. and for Percy Harvin to be on the field. Like I'm just excited to see that, because I think he is a game changer and he is exciting to watch. Fuck it, I say let's just put all the exciting people on the field and make it a doot doot doot doot doot doot. Justin: Let's go Vic. So Vic's out there. Jake: Vic and Harvin and C2K. That's what I want, I'm all back in the backfield. C600. C600K. Anyway. From a book standpoint, it looks like a good deal. Is he a, you know. Again, is this more of a Brelen Edwards move? Or is this more of a San Antonio Holmes move? I feel like Brelen Edwards worked out better than Holmes. It's probably closer to the Brelen Edwards move. Shoop. Well, except this is the new Blue Wave. Percy Harvin. Yeah, whatever. It could have been the MVP of the game. You know what's interesting is that ...
42:00 Justin: all the stuff that's come out after the fact. Like all of a sudden, you know, oh, the Seahawks were going to cut him. Right. There's issues with Russell Wilson in the locker room, which I can't believe. Well, Russell Wilson is an asshole. I can't believe that. That's what I'm just saying. I can't believe that for the life of me. Jake: I can see Percy Harvin being a big attitude guy and Russell Wilson being like, shut it down. Can't believe no, but like other people having issues at Russell with Russell Yeah, like a locker room divided there in Seattle. Give me a break that team Post Super Bowl teams always are fucked up in the head. Alright, so let's move on. Alright talk about some shit Let's talk about some just some little bit of fantasy. How's our Jet Kingdom fantasy? Oh, man, I just lost in a row you're not yeah my team is kind of in a rough spot with injuries right now so who do you play last week or the last two weeks two weeks ago you lost to hello oh you lost to who in five Gareth Dobson I was his first win I Justin: popped his chair he had 66 points by the way you're welcome for sending you Fine Falcons versus Lions game this week over there in London. Enjoy that. Do you know what time that game starts? I do 930 our time fucking awesome No, I can't watch it. Anyway, we can't watch it. Would it be on the red zone? Do you think like would you be able to watch it? Yeah, this red zone start? I mean, there's only one game, so I don't I don't know if they would be able to. Jake: It's not really a zone. It's just like, Justin: do they just pop on when guys are in the red zone and then they turn the TV off? Jake: And then I beat Jesse two weeks ago and then last week I lost again. I lost two weeks in a row. Yeah, you lost to Jesse, who I had just beaten, and then I beat Brian. Justin: My team's hurt in a bad way. Jake: Yeah, you've put up under 70 for the last two weeks. Bad stuff. I like it. And I, although I was going to take the year off, I'm on a comeback trail. But if I start... Yeah, I'm on a comeback trail. I'm 3 and 4 and I'm on a comeback trail. Year 5 and 2 and still pretty much the best in the league. No. Priders, riders, 7 and 0. Jesus. Alright, so... That guy's team is sick. Is it? Yeah. He probably has a good jet. He's putting up more, oh, it's Russell Wilson, Matt Faraday, Andre Ellington, Jujo, Mike Wallace. Well, he won't be able to play him one week at least. And oh, his kick, he has the kicker. He has Nick Folk. So he can put together a good team and then just have a kicker who's a pretty good kicker. Right? All right. So this playing two jets this week, the unprecedented double jets. Double jets. Are you playing Gino? Did you get Gino? No, I have their defense. Justin: Oh, okay. And now I get to really actually reap some benefits because I feel like the next- You know who I had? Jake: David Nelson. That's not good. Who's your jet now? Oh, I have Zax.I.F.E.L. I'm not an idiot. I don't go with one jet. I'm going with Cumberland this week. Justin: Big come? Big come and the defense. Okay, double. Because I actually-
45:00 Justin: Don't have another 10 to play because it's why we got I'm I'm I'm one of those guys who's been let's get to the pick Jake: Um, yeah, let's get the pick up. So how do we do last week? Well last two weeks you've caught up to me We're we're tied. I had eight last week No week six we go back two weeks. Oh week six. I had a ten I said I had a five That was a bad week week seven. I had a nine and I'd ate you an eight That's how you caught up. That's how we're tied. And it has me ahead of you. And now, but is it me you're looking for is dominating with 61 over Kibbles and Vicks is next with 58. Justin: Yeah, again enjoy that Falcons game. Alright, let's make some picks. So we're picking against the spread every game. Except the AFC East correct. We'll pick the scores on later. All right Thursday night tonight good game I'm excited me to Denver and hosting hosting San Diego and That means the whales vagina. That's right Manning's got his little record his cute little record That's not cute and he's gonna push that thing to like Way up there in the 500s maybe even get to six depends how many you say yes He's got half a year left, so let's just say throws another 20 20 That's conservative for him 5 30 and and then let's say you have more years Why? That's what he has he has two and a half years left on his that's what I'm saying Jake: He needs two and a half more. Yeah, well, yeah, but he can't be 41 in that last year Justin: He's paying many. He doesn't take a hit, you know, he just falls down. He's great. Please don't hurt me. I'm gonna fall now Thank you. All right. Anyway, Denver's hosting San Diego favor by eight and a half I'm not scared of points on Thursday night. Give me the home team 8 1 by 2. Roll with it. Jake: Yeah, too much. So many blowouts on Thursday. It's true. Justin: Always the home team too. Jake: But San Diego, well, Zajana, not a bad team. Not a bad team. Team? I don't think they're going to get blown out. I just don't. I don't feel like a blowout on this one. I hope it's a good game. I feel like it'll be a good game. So I'll take San Diego. All right? We differ. Justin: across the pond 930 a.m. 30 East 630 on the west if you're out in the west you can wake up really early It's kind of awesome for them. I mean they get to start there It's kind of awesome for us 930, but but do we get to really watch it is the question. Yes It'll be on TV what oh what channel? Someone probably have to have the well if you're in Atlanta or Detroit, I mean it's gonna be on Jake: Yeah, it's a great website five six sports comm shows the entire map Justin: He will be on in New York at 930 on Fox is the question and I have to doubt it will Jake: No, the Detroit game from Wonder will be told by us nationally. 9.30am with Tom and Troy Aikman. So 9.30, Fox, good on you.
48:00 Jake: See? That's going against the Premier League. Justin: I wonder how that'll do. Alright. It really dominates in the morning. Anyway, uh, Detroit. At Atlanta, I guess Atlanta doesn't win on the road even though this is a home team home and the dome the home dome Is it a home is it a dome? That's a dumb. I don't know. Whimblee was a dome. It's dome for this Jake: I'm pretty sure it's a dumb every shot of seeing if it looks like a dumb no Someone Gareth tell us if that's a dome. I think it's a dome. I'm gonna take the trays shows how many games I've watched We're gonna be over there. I'm telling with the next two years. I hope so. I can't somebody can't wait there It'll probably wait to play the jack who won't be an AFC East. It'll be like Jaguars. Yeah. Yeah Or or like Atlanta. No, I won't be them again, but it'll be Jaguars or Rams That's Rams. When do we play that? Justin: Western, two years from now. So there we go, that weren't. Then we just play them last year? Don't know, been a while. I'm taking Atlanta. Jake: They're in, it's a home dome. Okay, so we're different on those. Detroit has not put up a lot of points against teams. Like they have to scream out. Justin: Well, Calvin Johnson hasn't been playing. Sorry, that's right. He's practiced today with a helmet on. Apparently that's a big deal. That's a big deal. Apparently when you practice with a helmet, it's a big deal and you cut and you run and you cut. That's a big deal. It's a trap. Definitely a trap. Got to get up early. 6 30 a.m. We'll already be at the game. We'll already be tailgating. That's true. I have the phone at the ready. All right, Cincinnati's hosting Baltimore teams going in opposite directions. Cincinnati home favored by one. Give me Baltimore. Jake: I will take Baltimore. This alliance dropping started two went down to one. That's correct. OK, I'm going to take Baltimore. All right, Houston, although I could totally see this to be Cincinnati's comeback game where they go score 45 points. See if AJ Green plays or not. They looked like a pile of poo last week. They sure as fuck did it. They play much better at home. I can see the match. They do play better at home. I might change my score. I may change mine too. I'm changing it. Are you changing it? I'm changing it. I'm not changing it. Since then. Justin: Houston. This is their comeback. On the road. Tennessee home dog. One and a half. Love those home division favorites. Jake: I think Houston played well until- Underdog, sorry. Started playing terribly. Is that how that works? Started playing well until they started playing terribly. They were playing well until they started playing terribly. I'll take Houston. Justin: Okay. I want the points at home. Kansas City hosting St. Louis. St. Louis coming off their huge, huge win. in Division No. At home now they're on the road they have to go to Kansas City 7 is just a little bit too much So I'll take the points with st. Louis. I'm going to stay with st. Louis and the points Yeah, I like the points not really the team. All right Tampa skipity skip I did good there Tampa is hosting, Minnesota
51:08 Justin: Teddy Bridgewater is really bad. Yeah, no, he's terrible. He's like not a good quarterback Teddy Bridgewater G I'll take Gino. Ugh. Jake: So, I'm gonna take Tampa giving three. Well, we need at least three more years to evaluate Bridgewater, so. Tampa giving three. I'm gonna take Minnesota. I think they're gonna get their little running game. They got a new weapon back there, and maybe they'll learn how to play ball. I don't know. I'm gonna take Minnesota. Tampa's no good either. No, neither of these teams are very good. Justin: That division that Tampa's in is the worst division in football. It could be 10- 11 this game. Do you know that I think I think that there might be I think that the NFC South might be won by a Team with a losing record. Oh that happens Carolina is not very good Atlanta not very good Tampa not very good. New Orleans not very good Jake: No one's gonna win it cuz they're like the best of the not very good Hey, they're them or Carolina. I don't think you like do you see do you see one of those teams being? Justin: better than eight and eight? I think you'll have like a maybe a nine and seven. Maybe, but they're two and four right now. That'll be nine and seven. That's fine. Okay, Seattle goes to Carolina. Seattle's lost two in a row. I can't see them losing three in a row. They're giving five on the road though, all the way across the country. Jake: So I have Seattle winning by three, so I'll take Carolina at home. You have one by three. Yeah, I'm gonna take care of Carolina. Had a bad road game. Now they're coming back. I think Seattle is. They're too good to not. But they're they're suffering from the stuff. It's like they're now they have now they have issues with Percy Harvin. Now they have people who are. pissed at the way it went down. Marshawn Lynch is pissed. I just, this is a team that's not gonna hold it together throughout the season. All right, all right, all right. Let's go to four o'clock. Four o'clock. Four o'clock. Three, four o'clock. Nice. Good game. Justin: I get to watch some games. This is a good one. I'm gonna get back. Arizona hosting Philly. And Arizona's favorite by. Two and a half. Philly off the by. Jake: Give me the road team. Yeah. Philly off the by. That's all you had to say. And it's not even Andy Reid off the by. It's just Philly off the by. Take the points. The rest is they're gonna go crazy. Justin: Cleveland, who blew it last week, had a good chance to hop out in that division. Cleveland hosts Oakland. Cleveland gives seven. Cleveland doesn't blow anyone out. So give me points. I know Oakland doesn't win, but seven. Give me the seven. Yeah, agreed. I'll take Oakland. Indy goes to Pittsburgh and his favorite in Pittsburgh by three. I will take the home dog. Pittsburgh. No, I, I, Indy's a good, good team. I know. They're very good. They're going to blow out Pittsburgh. Jake: Pittsburgh going to have a short week. Justin: Indie all the way. Okay. Now we got our primetime matchups two not very good games in my opinion
54:07 Justin: so New Orleans is home and their favorite over Green Bay By one and a half. New Orleans can't stop anybody that makes no Knows I know their home. I know they're a different team at home, but They can't stop anyone, so I'm gonna take Green Bay. Jake: It's gonna be a high scoring game. Should be. I just don't see Noro-Lins. They're two and four, they're not good. I know, but they're not bad. But they are, kinda. I don't think they are. I don't think they're as bad as the record says. I think this is a team that can win. Give me Noro-Lins at home. Okay, and last game. Justin: The Super Bowl bound Dallas Cowboys. Yep. Who you, you, I mean they have to come back to earth. They're gonna be eight and eight, right? They gotta lose a bunch of games. December's coming. Dallas Cowboys, I mean this is a hard one. Because Dallas is gonna beat Washington. So Dallas is home. They're favored by nine and a half, though, over the Colt McCoy led. Washington rides red people history of cold say that the Washington red People without being I guess I blew it. I said red. He did I didn't want to say it, but I went there Washington Jake: Professional football team people all right Justin: You know say said people we say fucking shit and cunt and all those words and I won't say reds Yeah, it's just wrong so wrong. All right. I'm gonna take Dallas cuz Colt McCoy or his RG 3 playing. I mean does it matter? It doesn't matter Jake: It doesn't right but I don't I just a division game. This is on Monday night I just don't think it'll be a blog I think it'll be close Dallas is gonna win the game but not by nine and a half I will take a Washington, you know where you're beating me because I don't pay attention to these little tiebreak things Justin: So when I do those, I just throw random numbers in there. That's good. So I have Dallas winning. I have Dallas winning 56 21. I have 34 27 and the who will score the most points this week will be Houston and the fewest will be Miami. I have. Apparently that's where the curse. Jake: I have Norolene's going the most and Buffalo's going the fewest. Oh, Buffalo. Yeah. Justin: You didn't think about that. Cause that that score that you just picked for the Jets Buffalo game that's actually that number isn't gonna be the lowest score of the week Jake: uh oh could be that's a low score that's not a low score whatever your low score is six let's get to the AFC Eastern picks please okay so where are we starting you put these in a fucked up oh yeah i put them in the wrong order Justin: so where do you want we'll start at the bottom and move up all right that's gonna be hard for me you go well no I'll move them around move around could you fuck why do you have to mess with with these things with the system Jake: why do you mess with there he goes now they're in the order that we should Justin: please just fix it still not in a good order all right so Miami is at
57:00 Justin: Jacksonville Miami's giving six points on the road Jack smells the worst team Jackson those the worst team the week Miami looked really good last week Yep, they're like up and down and up and down and who the hell knows what Miami? Jake: Like every good week if you're up down up down, then this is a good week to be back up Or they were already up. Right, but they just played a great game, didn't they? Justin: They did. And Jacksonville just won their first game. It's good for the Jets. Let's be honest here. We just... I mean, we might just be like... 3-1 team here. I don't think it's gonna be that way, but it could happen. We don't ever do that. Jake: When we do that in history, we do it. We've had the first overall pick back to back years. But recently, that's not our style. We're we're now we're a four twelve two trending towards a six. Justin: We're a six middling Vernon Goulston team. Yes. All right. Mark Sanchez. Well, we traded up for that. All right. So Miami goes to Jacksonville. They probably have more fans in the crowd there. I imagine that Jacksonville will have time. Haunt up time there in Jacksonville. I can't see Jacksonville winning two games in a row, though. I do think they'll keep it kind of close. I kind of like Jacksonville's defense. I just feel like if their offense could. That thing with like with the Jets, right, where you have this. Young quarterback turnovers puts the defense in terrible spots right on the field type of situation, right I feel like that Jake: T off on these fuckers Just so I'm gonna pick up the Justin: 19 you know it's funny. I just looked at the next game. Which is Only have three of these because the Jets are playing the Bills obviously, but the next one Chicago Favorite are getting six at New England yep And I just peeked over at your score Because I haven't put my scores in and I really like it like that's what I was thinking for this game Yeah, I was thinking Chicago is gonna win this game. Yep Because Chicago just played really bad. They kind of got in each other's faces. It's kind of one of those things where you have that moment as a team where now you have this big challenge. Yes. After you kind of flub one. Right. And you just take it. You're like, you know what? Fuck you, everyone. We're good. We're not like. Thanks for watching. This fucked up team that you think we are. We can actually, we can throw the ball around.
1:00:00 Justin: We can run the ball. We can play offense. We can score. You know, not at all. Now I also think New England's gonna be able to score on Chicago, cause I don't think Chicago has that great of a defense. I like to score somewhere around like 34. Don't tell, just don't like somewhere around write the score down like you're supposed to every week. Jake: Oh, okay. and to cover because I think they're going to win outright 30 to 22. I think this is just, I don't know. I just. You stupid always bet against the Patriots, but I feel like this is a let down game for them and I just they're they don't have a lot of talent on the team. Justin: I don't care how good Gronk is. Their offense doesn't their defense. I mean, they're they're missing some guys and they draw some guys. Jake: Yeah, I just think it I just think it's going to get out of hand. So I'm going to take Chicago to win. And then game of the. Sunday morning. Well or afternoon depending where you are in the world. Is it though? Yes. This is your favorite matchup. This is Buffalo Bills. I love me some bills, Jats. So now do you get my title of the of the podcast? Hills to Climb. Who would be great to have in this game? Stephen, I can only score against Buffalo Bills. Hills oh we need Stephen pick him up he's on a practice squad some way just sign him think you don't Carolina score four touchdowns so over the last in the Justin: Rex Ryan period era yeah he's been splits fills no We have their number at home and only over the last two years, I think they've beaten us in Buffalo, but we've pretty much had their number. The kid Sammy Watkins is real good. Jake: He's real good. Do you hear about the prank that Rex called into a show and like, and like was pranking Sammy Watkins? No, he didn't do that. He went on the conference call. He didn't prank him. He was pranking him because it wasn't supposed to be Rex on the call asking questions. Well, yeah, it was a it was the media conference call. Justin: It wasn't a prank. He went in there and no, he whatever. Anyway, he knows him from because his son played with him and at Clemson. But he's good. The last two weeks, he's kind of broken out with Kyle Orton at quarterback because Kyle Orton, I mean, EJ Manuel, we know is. Awful. He's terrible. Jake: At least it makes our second round pick for Gino look a little bit... Justin: EJ Manuel's so bad.
1:03:00 Justin: Last year when they would throw in like Jeff Toole and whatever, they'd all look better than EJ Manuel. And like I think the Jets sacked EJ like eight times in that game when we played him. He's not good at all. And Kyle Orton is what you'd call a professional backup. up. at this point, right? He's competent enough, but not. You know, you're not going anywhere with him pretty much. Um, well, Buffalo thinks they're going somewhere. No, they're not. They, you can't, you can't get yourself into that illusion of like, well, they swapped them in cause they, cause they were like, you know what? We have a winning season and we want to keep winning. Actually like. We've been 6 and 10 for like 8 straight years. Maybe we can have an 8 and 8 season or 9 and 7 and squeak our way in somewhere. But you're not winning a Super Bowl with Kyle Orton. It's not happening. Watkins is tough, but they just lost Spiller and Jackson. They lost their entire running game. So it's Bryce Brown and Anthony Dixon. That's correct. From the Niners and the Eagles. So that doesn't really I mean Dixon's a big motherfucking dude and Bryce Brown Had those couple games a couple years ago with the Eagles, but he hasn't played all year. He hasn't been active even nope That's not that scary Watkins is good on the outside And I mean the scary part about the Bills is their defense. Their defensive front seven is is really, really good. Their front four are spectacular like, you know, Williams. Both Williams, right? They're both. Yeah. Kyle Williams and Mario Williams and. Darius and another guy on the other side, whatever. They're just really tough, hard to run on. I think last week was the first time they've given up 100 yard rusher. Yep. So they're they're a tough team, but in the Meadowlands, we've had their fucking number. They haven't been able to score on us and we've been able to just throw all over them. for years, Sanchez, Gino last year. Yeah, just didn't even matter. It was like, just go deep. It was touchdown touchdown city. Fuck it and chuck it. Yeah. So with all that said, I I'm excited to see how the Jets use Percy Harvard. I'm legitimately excited to see him on the field. Literally, it's giving me a reason to say to see. I'm going to watch him the whole time in the slot outside. in the backfield, running a wildcat, doing the jet sweep as a jet. That's fun. They should figure out a graphic for that, like a like a sweet something or a broom or some a jet sweeping by. I don't know. Thank God you're not in charge of graphics. If I was a broom. Awesome. Just so good with a broom. Yeah. Well, it's like baseball. You sweep whatever. Jake: OK. Wrong sport.
1:06:00 Jake: Anyway, so Yeah, I'm really excited about that. What's your keys to the castle to win the game? No turnovers Because we're gonna turn them over Justin: Wharton will throw us one and one of the Bryce Brown will fumble fees in the game like one of those guys They haven't played enough. They're gonna fumble The reasons why they're like third string fourth string, right not starters. So We're gonna get two turnovers in this game. It's a matter of us not giving them back and that's how because I mean, what game was it where we got that big turnover and then we gave it like right back to the team He was San Diego that just got out of control because like we we finally turned a team over and then we turned right back over and it's just God man, the fucking offense just can't help the defense out like one bit. I know we lost like in 31 nothing. It was both sides, just killer. But anyway, no turnovers. I can say that every week. But finally, we played a clean game last week and it turned out, I mean, Thursday night on the road in New England to lose by two. Lose by basically, I mean, that was a prayer of a field goal, but you had a field goal chance. It got blocked in the last second. They basically needed about 15 more seconds. Right. Could have ran one more play over the middle and got like 10 more yards. Better shot of winning that game. 2410 New York Jets should mention, sorry I'm taking us way back to the Patriots game and I know this is a marathon of a podcast but you've missed us. That's Jake: true and we did three of the other podcasts and none of this podcast last Justin: week. So you mentioned special teams disappointing you. Yes. And there was something with the with the That feel goal yes at the New England special teams did that I thought was really Borderline brilliant. Okay right before and this is why they blocked the kick right before the Jets snapped the ball They knew we didn't have a timeout. They knew we couldn't like What I think they were trying to do is cause a false start because all of a sudden they were like all four down shifted and Like eight guys four on each side just all at once shifted One direct wonder and from outside to the inside. Yep, and It definitely confused us a little bit Didn't cause us to fall start good but did allow a rush up the middle and allowed that kick to get blocked. So that was like. That's something that you do at the end of the game. You got to practice that situation. You have to be ready for that kind of thing. And we weren't and they were clearly right. A very detail oriented coach. Belljack is going to be like, all right, situation.
1:09:00 Justin: Opposing team is kicking a long-ass fucking field goal to win the game against us We're gonna try this little thing because it might throw them off a little and it did they walked the kick Whatever kudos to them 58 yarder probably wasn't going in anyway, but you never know I would have liked to seen the ball go yes would have liked to see what would have happened Jake: I would have been a little bit better to see him Justin: Right kick the ball like to see them just miss short or miss left or right or whatever having it get blocked and not knowing is a tough one alright sorry took us off track 24 10 what do you what do you got yeah I mean I Jake: feel more positive about this game than I thought about any game all season like I feel this is a game that the Jets the Percy effect yeah fuck Percy don't fuck him I am you do not fuck Percy Harvand fucking Percy Harvand fucks you maybe Justin: He's a nice guy. At what point do we get our Percy Harvin jerseys from? I just, from the NFL store. Never. Because by the time they get shipped, he'll be on the- See what number he's wearing? What is he, 16? 16 he's going with. All right. Jill and Saunders out there. Jake: There you go. I too am very excited to I think the defense played one of their best games last week I mean, I think there's two weeks. I think I think that if you can do that against Peyton Manning and Tom Brady I think cow horns in for a fucking shit show You know again where our corners are still Dumbass dumb, but we've had a good 13 day rest. I feel like there's a There's a chance they're gonna come in a little bit, you know, a little bit better game planning a little bit better understanding I could see us absolutely just destroy just destroy them I think this is the game that we get the defensive touchdowns Touchdowns you heard me right to huh, or maybe one special teams one that one defensive the key the castle It just this game can't be about Gino. Like that's it. Like it just can't be about Gino. It has to be about the defensive line. It has to be about the run game. It has to be about other stuff that is going on. If we come back and we're like it's all about Gino. My guess is we lost this game and it's a we lost it because of Gino. If we come back and like can't believe how that that dot the defense dominated. I feel like we're going to we won this game. I think that they don't again. I just don't fear this team. I just I mean, for every team we've just played, I fear them all. I don't fear this team. So Mikey, the castle is. Make it not about him, like we can run. I think we can run against almost anybody. I know they're tough, but I think we can run against them. I think we'll be able to run. Do what we did, like take the exact same game plan, except for execute it better and not have them not. They don't have. two of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game, they have a guy who like, and we're through the quarterback gauntlet. So I see us winning this game and I think we're gonna score. I think we're gonna score a lot. I think we're gonna score 31 points. I know that's like crazy, probably more than we scored all season,
1:12:00 Jake: but 31, 17, Jets win. 31's a lot. Justin: J ETS gesture. Well you see I thinking there's gonna be both the defensive score and special in the defensive scores Jake: Remember Percy Harvin Percy Harvin kicking net life Justin: Stadium last time he was there number 16. Who do you think of? Who do I think of yeah, just 16. What do you think who's your like when you think of number 16 New York Jats? What do you think? Think of Vinny? Jake: I think it's probably the guy I think of the most. Brad Smith? No. Definitely Vinny over Brad Smith. John Saunders? Yup. Definitely. Alright, let's get the fuck out of here. Alright, Jake, Justin, we'll be back next week. Hopefully with a win. Boy, I think we haven't ever done a Monday podcast this year. That says a lot. Maybe we'll do one if we win. We'll be back as always. Go Jets!
