00:21 Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom podcast. Longest running New York Jets podcast ever. I'm Jake joining me 269 times in a row without fail. It's Justin. Justin, how's your season going? Better now. Is it really? Do you really feel better now? Justin: Yes. I always feel better after winning games and after losing games. That is true. I think we're in a, according to statistics, we have an 8% shot of making the playoffs. Jake: So you're saying we have a chance? Yeah, I think we're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about quarterbacks and all the stuff that went down in the Jets. So we're talking about the Jets versus Ravens. We'll do the AFC East Roundup. We'll talk about teams that have less of a chance. Justin: of doing anything, AKA Justin's Jags. Hey, Houston lost yesterday. There's a big, they got a chance, man. They're right there. One game back in the lost column. Right there. Except for their terrible. They're right there. They're not good. But they're right there. But they're not good. But they're right there. Jake: If they were great, they'd be right there. Justin: They still haven't lost the game in the division. I keep telling you, eight wins wins the division. All they need is to sweep the division, which is terrible. And then they just win two other games. Oh, they just need to sweep it? But they're all terrible teams. I guess the Jets have the same shot then. We just need to sweep it. But not all the teams in our division are terrible. No, that's right. We have the Patriots. Jake: We're on it like unbeatable. So maybe they're just gonna like they're gonna get worn out of winning by the time we meet them Justin: Like they'll be like I don't think that happens to them. Yeah, they're not driven like that Jake: Sick of winning. All right, we'll do our throne picks and we'll get and we'll talk about beating the Browns And then we'll get the fuck out of Dodge. Okay All right, so why don't we start with the game that was the game of the century the game that you picked the just to lose Justin: Yes, you're not a believer I'm gonna guess I think I'm gonna keep picking them to lose. No, that doesn't work that way it does No, it doesn't it just means you actually didn't believe that they would win and so matters. No, you're a jet spank. I had it to my credit Had it you had seven six. There's no credit get on no to my credit. Yeah, I had it seven six Yeah, but I said the only touchdown Baltimore will score will be a special teams bullshit touchdown and that is true Jake: Uh-huh that did happen you had the Jets putting up two field goals Anyway, I had 21 24 Justin: At least I got half the score right and the winner right. Yeah, you got the 24 and you got the winner good for you, man Jake: That's pretty good. That's pretty good. All right, so let's talk about this game. Yeah. Yeah. Sure
03:01 Jake: I was just rewatching some of the recap just trying to get my head around that's good what it was actually doing I didn't get to watch cuz we're on Tuesday or early cuz we got stuff to do in the last Round of the week and so also sometimes we win It's nice to get a little happy happy out in the way out in the universe, right? So, uh, so I haven't had time to like rewatch the game, the were not sitting together. No, because you were off with your father. Yes, I was. And about 1700 other people and crew. We had a huge tailgate. Very long. I brought the little list. She's now 4-0 in the last two years. I told you she's a good luck charm Justin: She's going to the Rams game. So got to go to every game. Why doesn't she just go to every Patriots game? Yeah Jake: That's a good idea It's not even my phone. I'm in my phone. Turned off. Come on. All right. So. Be professional. I mean, obviously, we can jump right to the thing. I mean, Ravens are not a good team. Yeah, we knew that. I was watching someone say lots, and they are not good. Justin: And they were very injured. Very injured. Jake: Couldn't run the ball. I think that's a little bit them, a lot us. Justin: Well, they ran last week. So they ran well, they ran for over 100 yards last week with one one of their running backs I think his Terrence West had like a hundred yard week last week So they last week they played the Giants Who I think have a decent running? Jake: Supposedly fence. That's what the theory was with 200 million dollars supposed to be a good get snacks and Justin: They were able last week to run the ball. So last week against them, Terrence West ran for 87 and two touchdowns and Dixon ran for 11. So they ran for like 100 yards last week against. The Giants, right? Jake: In the same stadium in the same stadium, back to back in the same. Justin: And they lost by four to the Giants. Right. Yeah, this week could not run the ball. No eight attempts for ten yards six yards net that is crazy Jake: Oh, yeah, you got a flat go negative seven, but whatever that counts negative for all counts Flacco had to pass and he was passing, you know 44 attempts 25 completions yards per time very low 5.6 Justin: That's like nothing. Jake: We are the Jets, so we did give up the one big long bomb. Justin: This time it wasn't a touchdown, which was covered well from what I could see. Jake: It was. That was one of those. That's not a bad cover saying. I mean, prior was right there. I don't know who the other guy was. Screen. Screen was right there.
06:01 Jake: He wasn't going to catch the ball and get a touchdown. Justin: It looked like the like how did that guy catch it? Jake: It's just like they both, I think what happened is both guys, I mean again, if you could, you know, retrospect, if one of the guys had gone for the body and one had gone for the ball, I think he wouldn't have caught it, but they both went for the ball, which, you know, like if one of the guys has been ready to knock that guy out when he touched it, um, I don't think he would have caught it, but it doesn't matter. They were just anemic. In fact, that game, it probably would have been a much bigger blowout if, for two reasons. One, if Gino hadn't got hurt, I think it would have gotten much worse. And two, we give up a fucking stupid-ass special teams touchdown, which I think kind of gave them a little bit of, you know, oh, we're kind of in this game. Justin: So what were your thoughts? Why do you think we would have, why it would have gotten worse if Gino would have stayed in the game? Jake: I feel like Gino was, again, this guy hasn't played in two years, legitimately. He was doing Gino good and Gino bad. He has an arm. Like, it's just amazing when you've been watching Fitzpatrick for a year and a half and then you watch Gino and it's like, oh crap, that guy can throw. And he doesn't have to do like this arc. He does this straight throw. He was doing geno stupidity which is he was getting sacked when he doesn't need to get sacked. In fact he hurt his leg getting sacked where he didn't need to get sacked. He holds on the ball too long trying to make you know. Justin: So all you're giving me are bad things. Jake: Well I just think I think he would have warmed up and I think this team would have I think they would have scored more points. I think putting in Fitz after all this BS I don't feel like Fitz was at... Like, his best. I think he was, I think it was a little bit like, oh crap, I'm back in the game, I really didn't expect to play. I mean, he was the backup, but... Justin: It's funny, I thought it was actually one of the better games he played of the season. Jake: He was! Justin: Beyond, I mean, the Bills game, he was really good, and then I thought he was really good in this game. He hit a good completion percentage, he threw a touchdown, he didn't turn the ball over. I mean, Gino was 4 of 8. for 95 yards but one of them was all Anunwa. Like Anunwa did all the work. Sure he found the open guy for eight yards which is good, positive. Anunwa took it to 60. Jake: Yeah again I don't think that I just feel like I feel like Gino was going to start to do better. I just had a, I don't know, I just had a feeling they'd get rolling and like get kind of used to the offense. Totally can't tell now. But as we know, Gino's out for the rest of the year. We'll probably never play another snap for the New York Jets. No, probably not. And I don't want guys to get hurt. But I'm kind of, I'm kind of okay with it. Because I'm kind of like, I don't, I didn't want to. I said it last week, I said it the week before, I said, I don't want to see any more of Gino. I've seen him, and he went and went out last week when he played in the suite, he did exactly what I thought he'd do. And when he went out this week, it was moments of like, oh good,
09:00 Jake: but on his what, third, fourth year, fourth year? He's in his fourth year now. He's still just doing stuff that I feel like you shouldn't be doing when I watch all these rookies and all these second year wonders doing better games. Justin: And he's played. He started 30 games. Jake: So I don't think Gino is the answer. Justin: I also don't think he was playing as well as people thought he was playing. Like on the radio on the way home it's like Gino was playing well. Really? I didn't really see it. I guess I wasn't watching the same game. Like he threw the ball out in the flat that like a couple of times it was like weird throws. Throw them like like if those balls are off by two inches those are pick sixes. Like Marshall dropped a big one for him. That wasn't right. Not on Gino. Bad drop by Marshall. Wide open. And good throw. And Marshall was doubled like the whole game. He was just bracketed. But... I don't know. As soon as Fitz came in the game, I said, oh, we're definitely winning this game. Like before, I was like, hmm, this is going to be close because I don't know if Gina is going to be able to score. But as soon as Fitz came in the game, I felt like they just started running the ball better. It was weird. Mangels got hurt and I felt like the running game picked up. They were also able to run that little The the second touchdown the forte touchdown. I I don't know if geno pulls that off as well Like the whole like we're faking it this way and then boom middle screen, which is like wide the fuck open I just don't know if geno has the skills to look look look look and then come back and Just dump it off like that I don't know. I was, I was actually, um, I was, I was unhappy that Fitz was dressing as the backup, but when he came in, I was like, okay, we're going to win the game. You know what? That's the most, Jake: that's the most reasonable fan. That shows that you're a fan because I would have preferred to have Justin: seen right. Petty come in as the backup and been like, okay, cool. Whatever. The game is now Petty's. Jake: thing, but you realize it's just stupid that he's just like I wasn't happy this guy's the backup I wasn't happy when he was backing him. Do you know well, I was happy when he came in Justin: I was like the backup. Yeah, cuz I wanted that he was the bad I wanted us to win once the game started Jake: We didn't want the better quarterback to be the backup I don't know if he's the better quarterback at this point and that game the better person to come in to win The game is not a guy who's never played a down of football Justin: unknown because he's never played it down in football. No, and this will get into this when we talk about like what should happen now. Right. Jake: All right. Give me your play and night of the game. Justin: Ooh. All right. There were so many so many good players in this game. So we'll start with I guess we'll start with with the night. I feel like the defense has to get this one. Because they played so well they did not give up a touchdown the defense and I think there were two players in particular
12:05 Justin: on defense that had really really Really good games and I'm gonna give mine to a guy that Has had a really tough year Okay today you're gonna give it to him today. We're gonna give it to him today. That's Buster screen Okay, I feel like he played really well He tackled when he had to tackle He had the one deep ball, but I felt like that was covered really well Yeah, and the guy just made I think was Wallace made a great catch and he had safety help and I think the ball like Went like right through prior's hands like he played it right He had the pick where he stepped in front on the out and that's the right. He made the right play there no penalties, I don't think and set up the Set up some scoring like he returned that interception down inside the five. So That was my player of the game my play of the game I believe happens on the ensuing drive when They hand the ball to forte. He fumbles Baltimore picks it up Marshall causes a fumble we get it back first down jets at the five and then he did that last year Yes, the Browns and he did it again this year and that was a big play because we needed those points That was to go up. And then once we got the lead, I did not think Baltimore could score again. And they did not. You know, in retrospect, looking back, it was huge play. Jake: Crazy. I think it was from the opposite side of where we were. Yes, on the other side of the field. So didn't get a lot of seeing. I just watched the highlight of it. You know, Marshall. For all his stuff, like, I've never seen a wide receiver do that two years in a row. I mean, you see it once in a while that the wide receiver strips the guy that he has. But to do it two years in a row, that's pretty impressive. I'm gonna give it to your boy. I'm surprised you didn't pick him. I'm gonna do the play and the and the play and the player of the game. Your boy Q. I'll give it to him primarily because I mean I expect him to make that catch but he put on the jets like he like cooked and they couldn't catch him and when you can't catch him that's a great thing so I love that play it's the kind of thing that I don't feel like we don't get those types of plays I feel like I feel like Decker used to, last year, he'd see Decker do that once in a while. Like he'd grab it in the middle and then he'd take it. And then one guy would try to tackle him, he'd push him down and he'd take it another 60 yards or 50 yards or something. So really good to see. That's my player and play the game or night of the game. This is a good play. It was a good play. My boy too. And it just, you know, again, I think that we're gonna look back and the, what are the Ravens now?
15:00 Jake: Three and four? Correct. They're ending their season in the sixth win column. Like, so I think we took advantage of a bad team. Justin: Yeah, but this is the part of the schedule we really fucked that Cincinnati game. Yep. Because if we came out of that first six, two and four, I really think we would have been, hey, we've been three and four and we'd be in a stockpile. Right. And right now it's just the AFC West is just. a monster. You got Oakland, Kansas City, and Denver out there. And like Oakland's 5-2, Denver's 5-2 I think, and KC's 4-2 or the opposite. I might have had one of those 4-2s wrong, but there's three teams with only two losses out there and we've lost to Kansas City, so that's not good. Jake: Yeah, Oaklands 5 and 2, Denver's 5 and 2, Kansas City's 4 and 2, Chargers are 3 and 4. Yeah, that's a good division. I mean, our division of course has 6 and 1. But at least we know that Pat's Bills are playing this weekend, so that'll happen. Justin: I can't believe that's it. They played twice already and we haven't played one division game. Jake: It's crazy. So let's, uh, let's get to the next thing on our schedule here. Round up. We talked about that. So the Pats keep on winning. Justin: Wait, any other, do we have news on mangled yet? I know. Well, let's talk about Gino. Or Darren Lee. Jake: Do not have news on either one of those players. Too early. It's Tuesday morning or afternoon. It's not, we're not going to get that stuff. Justin: Gino has an ACL. Jake: So Gino's ACL. He's getting a second opinion, but he's out. He's out. He's out. I have a big question now and that's going back and forth with another Jets fan, uh, talking about it. You know, what do you want to happen? Do you want to? And since we're mathematically not eliminated, so there's two things. You could throw in Petty now. You just say, okay, you're up against Cleveland. You're gonna go up against Cleveland and you know, the Owen whatever Cleveland Browns and this could be on seven Browns except for it's on the road So that's not great to throw in your your Justin: guy that to me doesn't mean a thing and Jake: mathematically We're not out right? Mathematically, we're not out. We have a there's a chance and we have a relatively easy schedule we get the Browns Justin: Then we get the fins and then the rams and the rams that are by. Right. We could be five and five. We really could. Jake: The only thing is I was thinking, oh, wouldn't it be great to like have him come in after the buy? But of course we have the Patriots have to buy. You do not want to throw in the rookie against or not rookie. Justin: Well, you don't want to do it if you're five and five, but if you're I feel like I feel like the right thing to do. For the team in the long term is to put him in now Right now in this soft belly of the season against Cleveland there Owen seven They're not good on offense. They're not good on defense
18:03 Justin: So even if he can put up three scores, right a touchdown in two field goals I feel like if we play defense the way we played this week We win that game, no problem. Like there's no way Cleveland should be scoring on us with their fifth string quarterback. I think that's the that's the thing is that like the the yes, as a long term, as a long as a member of the long that should be his first game. But his first game should be that game, not the Patriots game. Well, it's not going to be either one. I don't feel either one. Jake: I of the by. Let's say we come in miracle miracle beat the pats. Six and five Justin: Looking at you basically got to get you you probably still have a decent shot. It's all about what goes out what goes on out West because I mean this way the Cincinnati loss is gonna kill us because Cincinnati's gonna be in the mix and We'll have lost to them because Pittsburgh's gonna win that division Irrespective of when Raffles burger comes back. They're good enough But losing to Cincinnati... Just losing, but okay. Jake: That was the Patriots, but... They lost to the Pats though, and they had a chance in the game. Couldn't you see them not win... Justin: But who else is in that? But the only other team in that division is Cincinnati, and they're not that good. They're gonna finish 9-17. So it's really all what happens out west and the things that have beaten us like sin and And and and those Those conference losses are killers Yeah, awesome. The people man. I'm sure I can turn this doesn't really help I don't know. I'm kind of of two minds again. Jake: I think we've made the bed. I'm not. I don't love it. But I don't know. He hasn't announced anything has he? Yes, yes. Oh, Fitz is starting. But remember last week he reversed. He said Fitz is starting after the game. Then two days later he said, it's Geno. I just think, I just think as an organization, as a team. I don't know how you do that, except for Fitz, you know, he did say that the coaching staff and the organization's lost, you know, whatever in me, and I want to be like, have you seen your own tape? Like, your tape is terrible. You haven't been played well this year. Is there a chance that, like, he gets a wake-up call and plays well for the rest of the year? Maybe? Again, also the chance of someone getting hurt as we see in this league
21:02 Jake: I think Petty's in there pretty quickly. He hasn't even announced who the backup is, by the way. Whether Petty or Hackenberg. I imagine it's Petty. Well, Petty, but is Petty ready? Like, is he physically okay? Who knows? Justin: We have no clue. Jake: Right. We have zero insights. Zero insights. All right, so it's, um, that was the AFC East. Was it? Yeah, that was the AFC East. It's all jags. Your jags still looking terrible. My jags looking good. Two wins. Justin: Yeah, the jags and the jets, they're Jake: both ready to take the division. Justin: The jags are actually better than the jets right now. They're two and four. Two and four. Jake: Oh, right, because I had to buy. Justin: Right. Both have two wins. Well, it's really the lost column that you actually count if you knew anything about how standings work. Jake: I think the top or the bottom of the standings? Thanks. Justin: Well, you can't well the jets are below the jaguars and the standings if you were to look at them Yes, because you can't we're talking divisional. You can't take losses Away, but you can add wins as the season goes along So like that's how standings work. Yeah, get it. No, okay. Explain it to me again. Well, I just did Both have two wins on the season. The Jags are two and four. The Jets are two and five. So, mathematically, the Jags are ahead of the Jets. Mathematically, they are. If you were to look at the standings, Mathematically, you're right. They're ahead of the Jets. But they're not a better team. Right. They got the Titans this week. Yeah. That's a big game. Thursday night. Big game. Tight. Big game. Big, big game. Jake: All right. So you'll be fun. You get to watch the Thursday. Yeah, that's awesome. What? My Jags. All right. Well, let's go. Let's talk about the what's to where we are. Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. I lost again. I had two bad weeks in a row. I got my book. Took his took his beast. Justin: I think my four and three got got smashed. Jake: You're at four and three. I'm at there's. And everybody else in the division, our division is three and four. It's four and three and three and four. Justin: See, that's how standings work. Jake: Yep. And then Rocky Mountain Jet is six and one in his division. He's the one who beat me this week. Yeah, he's good. Faster. And then, yeah, so the West Division much better than the East this year. So kind of fun. Who are you taking on this week? Let's see. I don't know. I'm going to show. I'm going to tell you. Not taking me on because I already looked. I'm playing this week. I am playing Jeremy Ross and Rachel. Justin: Great name. Of course he's on our team. He was. But now he's not. But he then was again. And then now he's not. Jake: Steven Pollard. So cool. And then you are taking on... Blau Powell who I just played who beat me. So, you. What the line is? It's a negative 40 you must have something going on in your Justin: Oh, good job. Good job. Um just happened. All right, so let's move off of that and let's get to the pickum Uh, let's do it. All right, let's hold on one second. I have to respond to somebody
24:04 Justin: You're really responding to emails and texts? Not an email, it's very important. You just stretch, stretch, stretch. Jake: Thursday night, Tennessee versus Jacksonville, Tennessee favored by 3.5. I, just to piss you off, will pick Tennessee. Justin: Uh, all right. Yeah. All right. Hold on. No, no, no. Let me get back in there. Hold on. This is the same name. I'm not doing my job. Hold on. Hold on. All right. So Tennessee is hosting the Jags. Would you say three and a half Tennessee? Give me the Jags for you. All right. By the way, I caught up to you. So now we're even. Oh, I had such a bad week. Four wins. All right. Another London game? Another London game, but thankfully we're actually at home. Jake: So we can watch it. Justin: We're away, you mean. Well, I meant Justin and Jake are home. So I can come back and watch. We can watch the game. Jake: This is my favorite. I know everybody hates the whatever game. Justin: I think I'm going to go to the gym during the game. That's like the perfect right there. Jake: Oh, I'm going to go for a nice run, come back and then I'm going to go right Justin: to the gym to watch this game. All right. Cincinnati hosting Washington. Is this in Wembley? I don't think so. They're going to do it back to whatever. All right. Cincinnati versus Washington. I'm going to take Washington. Jake: Oh, I don't know. Justin: It's a tough one. He is a tough one. Cincinnati's favored by three, by the way. I'm going to take Cincy. I think they're very even. I think they are. Jake: I don't think there's a home team on this one. No, well, there is. But I feel like they're giving the Cincy the home. Right. So I should take Washington. Justin: If that's what you believe. But I'm not going to. I'm going to take Cincy. All right. Do whatever you want to. Thank you. Kansas City is going to Indianapolis. Kansas City favored by 2 and 1.5. I like them. . They're good. Yes, they are good and indy stinks and indy is that game will be? 17 nothing in the first quarter and it'll end kansas city will be winning by like can't wait 10. All right Seattle which played one of the oddest games of the year six six tie six six tie. Yeah, that's super to Jake: 20 yard Justin: field goals missed. You watched Monday Night Countdown last night? One of them shanked. Oh, and they tried to do them? Yes, so Randy Moss nailed them. Two of them. Two of them. Yeah, and the other guys Jake: didn't even close. He did like a whatever kick though. He did the straight up. Yeah, the straight. Straight. Right. He didn't actually try to kick it like a kicker. With the side, with the, like, the top of your foot. Justin: He just kind of like kicked it with it's toe. With his toe. Yeah, like you kick a soccer ball. Well, I think that's how they actually kick their they kick it like a soccer player would kick a soccer ball With the like the top of their feet kicked it like if I wanted to actually do it for money I would kick it that way Yeah, well, I'm not gonna be kicked it like an eight-year-old would kick it like with this toe I had to make it but anyway, whatever Seattle's at New Orleans Seattle is
27:00 Justin: favored by three It's a hard game to handicap because Seattle is a better team than New Orleans, but New Orleans is home. They're tough. They score. Seattle can't really score. New Orleans defense is really terrible. I'm just gonna take I'm just gonna pick the better team. All right. We're still at one o'clock. We have only two four o'clock games. Fuck you NFL. I hope you're listening. Fuck you NFL. Anyone who works for the NFL who's listening? Fuck you. Jake: And by the way, only one good night game of all the batch. Thursday, not a good game. No, the other day, not again. Justin: Sunday and Monday are good. Sunday's good. I'm saying Sunday's good. Monday's not a good day. Oh, well, it's a division game at least. Jake: Yeah, but Chicago's terrible. Justin: I know, but at least it's a division game. OK, color's back. Oh, yeah. It's a division game at least. Tampa is hosting Oakland. Tampa is favored by 1 and 1.5. I don't think they're very good. Jake: And they had to put the Buffalo game and the Jets game same time. That'd be great. Like, why could you have one of those at four? Justin: Yeah, why couldn't we watch New England at four? All right. I got Oakland. getting one and a half. Jake: You know, I like Oakland. I think Oakland. Justin: I don't really like Tampa Raiders, but I like that if they just weren't the Raiders, I like that team. Yeah, I kind of hate the Raiders, but Tampa at home. All right. Carolina is hosting Arizona. Carolina favored inexplicably. Is that a word? By two and a half. This is a rematch of last year's NFC title game, except one is and one of these teams is terrible. I'll take the points on the road. Yeah, I'm taking Arizona. One in five favored by two and a half. I don't see it. They've shown nothing. Jake: Arizona's D is real. They still go Carolina. Justin: Carolina has no defense, no defense in Arizona. can run and they lost big time weapons. Josh Brown, right? Was that the one that was? No, Josh Brown's the kicker on the Giants, who is lost. No, they lost Jerome Brown. They have John Brown who didn't play. There's a lot of Jay Browns. I think Jerome Brown might be out for the season, though. But I don't think it was a huge part of the offense. It's like they got to get Michael Floyd going, Fitz going. And really, it's David Johnson show. Jake: And I was the best. Who's the best running back in the league right now? David, I'm about. It's not still you cannot watch. Justin: Lady Ambel play with the backup quarterback against the New England Patriots. And you. You can't tell me he's not there. They are. Jake: They're not. Do you know that David Johnson is setting records at this point? They're neck and neck. If records. Justin: First of all, Olivia Bell didn't play the first three games this season. Yeah, but I'm saying if he just if he played he'd be he's averaging more yards from scrimmage
30:00 Justin: than David Johnson is this year. I'll take to me. There's three running backs. Jake: You could take one on your team for next year. One of those two players. for next year, the actual player for next year, 2017, on the Jets, you can make it happen for $0. Who would you take? Let me in, bro. I'd take David Johnson, not even close. Second year's just, he's just so good. Third year guy versus a guy that's been suspended multiple times, that has been, you know, current multiple times. He's so good. I'll take David Johnson, thanks. Take the younger guy. Justin: Okay. Of the two, fine. Anyway, next. Rat hole, Houston, the cock. hosting Detroit. The cock coming off a bad cock night. He was not banging last night. He got banged. Jake: In the recap on Sports Something it said something something Oxwire was embarrassing or something. I was like, oh that's harsh. I didn't finish what they finished again. Justin: Houston has weapons. Their quarterback can't get what happened at the end of the game. I have no idea. Okay, because like I didn't watch a minute of that game Was he that bad? I don't know but Euston's home their favor by two and a half against Detroit. I have Detroit I Need to know how bad he was You threw for like 130 yards so he was bad like that's all you need to know I don't need to know that I need to know more for nothing Jake: 22 41 131 nothing yeah he's terrible okay not good not good not gonna happen uh not gonna happen Justin: terrible awful awful i will take oh yeah i'll take detroit me too all right Four o'clock Denver is hosting San Diego. Denver is favored by six San Diego Six points they play close games. I got San Diego. I Know they're not as good as Denver, but they play really close games and they lose them But they do play close games. I feel like I feel like San Diego's terrible on the road. I'm gonna go with Denver Jake: Okay, the semen what by the way last night we got even versus the cock cock semen We had got a letter and the block the cocks so I get it each other the cack. All right, Atlanta Atlanta who? Justin: Is slipping just like they did last year even though I think they're better than they were last year They made a big mistake in overtime there against San Diego to blow the game Big mistake. So Atlanta's hosting Green Bay Atlanta's favored by two and a half. I Like the pack I don't like the pack on the road. I like Atlanta at home. I'll take it. I think the pack He's gonna get her going against Atlanta. Just don't think that plus the pack has a good run D. Yeah, they've got no runners Anybody see after the season I understood but they've had wide receivers is running Yeah, but they they got Nile Davis who wasn't really there. He's been there now week. They had Jackson they have versatile players and they still do have Aaron Rodgers who can get the ball this year. He's been off
33:03 Jake: He's not last week. He had very good week. One week out of you know Justin: Well, all it all takes is you know one week for a guy to get real hot like Aaron Rodgers. Jake: And they don't open that fake noise to make that place loud Justin: It'll be full of Packers fans. Yeah. All right Monday, Sunday night. Dallas is actually a good game. Yeah, Dallas hosting Philly, Dallas by four and a half. I got Dallas, two rookie quarterbacks. Dallas coming off a bye. I think Dallas has the. Has the a better defense than people realize than people. No, no, no, then people realize probably yes. So like against I feel like this is like a rookie. I feel like that's the better of the two and has the better setup than I think that is once to give him more of that behind him and he is the better guys in front of him. He has the guys in front of him to make it easy. And he's got the running back behind him and make it easy. He's got that. Desil probably end up playing. and Philly lost a guy on defense this week. Yeah, I like Dallas four and a half close. Jake: I'm going to get Philly just because of the close. Give me the points. OK. Justin: And then we have Minnesota at Chicago. As of right now, the line is Minnesota favored by five. And they are coming off an embarrassing loss where you know Philly wanted to just stick it to Sam Bradford. Yeah. And they did. I got Minnesota in this game. Minnesota is the better team. They are. They should be able to shut Chicago down. And I think I don't know if having cutler back is better. They lost. Well, it's I mean, it's definitely better than that. Barkley. Yeah. I don't know if it's better than Hoyer. I think it is. I think it's a chemistry thing where they just don't like each other. Cutler and the rest of the team that color like the whole rest of the team. Yeah, you know He's like destined to be our quarterback right Cutler It's like this migration Marshall Forte color like it's destiny. Let's take Barkley. No, son Tony Romo or hoyer. No, I'm almost been talking about it. It's Romo. It's Carson Palmer It's Cutler like all those guys are destined to be Jets quarterback. I don't want one year wonders. I want If you watch how that happens next year, all right, let's let's go to the the AFC East We got one game to discuss. Yes, we have New England at Buffalo New England's favored by six and a half New England's got a little bit of a revenge factor because it was there one loss of the season They got Tom Brady this time. I just saw you type your score in. I was going to go somewhere along the same lines. Tom Brady didn't play in this was game four and keep for New England. New England lost 16 nothing, which means New England certainly has an answer for the Bill's offense. They scored 16 points with LaShawn McCoy.
36:02 Justin: Doubt he'll be playing this week. Right. because he got rushed back from his hamstring and re-aggravated it. And this week, you've got New England with this monster crazy. This offense, they run with Gronk and Bennett up the seams with Edelman underneath them. It's like it's like an automatic eight yards anytime Brady wants it. And if he wants to go for more, he just goes down the field to one of the tight ends. Jake: It's so hard that fucking tight end combo going again. Justin: Now that they have that. And because they could throw those guys out there and you can't sub because they just keep it because they can run out of that And they can throw out of it and it is impossible prediction Next draft to tight end. So taking the first round They have to be good. I don't know college doesn't know whether or not Yeah, but the the pats have been doing this. I know. With the two tight ends. But they now have found the other guy. Jake: Well they had the murderer. They had the one. They had two then they lost him for like, but they haven't had another guy like this for a while. Yeah, I got a 3713. New England. Justin: All right. For the record, New England. New England, just so yeah. I have it at 40 to 3. Yeah, good one. Good one. That's a good one. I mean this would be the game where if Rex didn't run off those four wins He would have gotten fired after right, but now if you're four and four you don't get fired. No, thank you Jake: Let's see for our purposes for the purposes of the Jets 8% chance of New England's got a win Justin: We want New England to win right you just want New England to just win any Conference game any game they play against the AFC you root for New England Cuz don't give me gruff about it. That's what we have because we haven't lost a division game yet. Well, it's not the division It's the conference you want New England to just beat everybody in the AFC North like they have like beat those teams Beat Houston, which they did go keep just beating the AFC teams that they're gonna be playing I don't care what you do against the NFC lose for all I care but beat beat all 12 AFC or 10 out of them. You can lose to us twice. Yeah. But when when the 10 of the UFC games that are not games. All right. Moving on to us. So David Harris was back. The hit man. Aaron Henderson, not on the field at all for a non injury. Now, he was a problem when we grabbed him last off season. He had an issue. He was out of football the whole season before that. We gave him a shot. We I'm not even gonna try to speculate what the hell is going on, but he's he did not play and it wasn't because of an injury. Let's leave it there. We have no idea what it is. He's a bad boy. He was he had some troubles. So let's just leave it. So a middle linebacker Lee was out. There was a lot of like wasn't named Stanford and Bruce Carter got hurt. So like like there was like very bare bones there
39:01 Justin: Now we didn't really get into the game at a super in-depth level For the Ravens, but let's call out the fact that Muhammad Wilkerson did not play And this is not a knockout, Mohamed Wilkerson. No, because I think you want Mohamed Wilkerson on the field when given the chance. But what this is, is a referendum on the team to say, cut this bullshit out and play your three four base. Or at least play three down linemen if you're gonna be in the nickel like don't Don't pull this for three or this, you know four down linemen in the nickel You want the three down linemen you can rotate between? Muhammad Wilkerson Sheldon Richardson Leonard Williams Steve McClendon and whoever else you want to throw out there in the middle Simon Whatever, so you mean exactly what we did last year Exactly what we did last year, exactly what we did in game one against Cincinnati when Richardson was suspended, exactly what we did in this game against the Ravens when Wilkerson was hurt. We were playing three down lineman and Richardson was a fucking beast. He was everywhere and Leonard Williams was all over the place. That is... how we have been playing for the last 10 years. We are three, four defense. So strike two against Bowles. If we come back to this strike two, if we come back and like we got the four guys out there and Sheldon's playing outside linebacker trying to cover a tight end or something. Then strike two for me. Jake: Yeah, this is like this is so obvious. It's not. Like you don't have to be a fucking great football mind to look at this and go this is what's making this successful Justin: Yeah, Sheldon Richardson. Plus it's against a bad team. Sheldon Richardson plays the position he plays. He's a 3-4 lineman That's what he is in this league. You are what he is. He is not an outside linebacker He is not an inside linebacker. He doesn't have the speed for it. He's a fast lineman, but he's like 300 pounds He can't be chasing running backs around Like no middle line like David Harris could barely cover these guys I mean if he could be I mean if I saw him successfully chasing them around cuz chases him after they catch it. That's what I'm saying Jake: It's like if he was successful in from behind but he's not successful in it. No, I do it Justin: So that's a big thing if Wilkerson comes back They're gonna have to take their lumps all three of those guys and McClendon. They're gonna have to play less Snaps and it'll be you'll be fresher in the fourth quarter. That's not a good thing. I know the Know the ideas like let me get my best players on the field, but not if they're out of position Yeah, like katapano playing outside linebacker Malden playing outside linebacker is better than Richardson doing it. They get more pressure because they're just more agile from the outside. Like they're speed rushers. Richardson's not a speed rusher. I mean, he's a bull. He's a big guy. He throws guys around on the inside.
42:01 Justin: And he stuffs the run like crazy, especially with Wilkerson in there with him. And it's what we've been used to the last three years. And it's what I think the way that they should keep playing. Jake: I will say. Justin: So, again, they shouldn't even have to be bringing blitzes. They shouldn't even be having to do all sorts of things against this team. There's like one weapon to worry about. And he didn't even play this week, which is Terrell Pryor. I feel as though Rivas could cover Pryor without an issue. He's not a very experienced wide receiver. He's just. Jake: Like physically gifted have they changed up the scheme for revus or has he just been kind of starting to play a little bit better? Justin: Or is it just he hasn't been giving a big place? Who knows noticed? I think he's just been playing a little better. Um So do you know the rumor that he wasn't really in good shape coming into this season was he had surgery in the offseason Jake: Yeah, that wasn't it. There was some rumors that he hasn't sort of been looking like in full shape Like he didn't come into training camp like he Should have and he didn't really put as much effort in training. Justin: There might be some some truth to that. I mean, you don't want to. We weren't there so we don't know, but there could definitely be some truth to it. It looked like it. He got burnt on some look, look, AJ Green burns people. Like he made some catches like when you watch that game, it's like, really? Yeah, seriously, you're going to catch that. But when he runs right past him and we've had this happen not just to Reavis to everyone else where like Where what happened in this game with Mike Wallace right like that big play to Wallace? Well at least prior was there Right he was there and the ball went through his hands. He wasn't gonna get a touchdown. I'll play with Goodwin OK, good ones faster than Rebus and he ran right past them. And that in the past, maybe Rebus was a little bit smarter about like jamming him up at the at the at the line. The last couple of weeks, he's looked a whole lot better. Yeah. And he covered Fitzgerald. Well, he covered whoever he was covering this week. He knocked a couple passes down. He was a little closer to the action when the ball was going his direction I don't know if he gave up maybe one catch. I mean, there's nothing there I don't like flacko is really whipping it around anyway, so I think this week you'll see him if prior plays He'll cover prior if prior doesn't play he'll cover He'll cover whoever like it doesn't matter who's out there because I don't think there's another weapon on that team that warrants attention You just play your defense and then you probably do start blitzing a little if it's if it's a lame duck quarterback I think you got a blitz more. I think that's more successful. It's just my personal thing All right. So how do you how do we beat the Browns showing up?
45:33 Justin: And they're really bad and banged up. So that's like they're just bad and injured. Yeah, I have. Like their weapons are gone, their defense is bla. What do you think? Jake: Who do you think is the backup quarterback? Justin: Patty, if he's healthy. Yeah. If he's not, then it has to be Hackenberg. That's why you have four, I guess. Now we have three, a normal number. Now we have three. We don't have to go pick up some. I doubt they will pick up a quarterback. Jake: Yes, they can go pick up somebody though. I mean, it's kind of just like keep rolling. To me, the Browns are worse than the Ravens, clearly by schedule by everything. You could use the exact same game plan against them. I think the Ravens may have beaten them. The defense is, their defense is not good. Their offense isn't good. If our defense is good, I think we can keep this to like, I don't think we let them score a touchdown on offense at all. Just got to not let it be stupid. Also, I think the run game has been it's been up and down. Knew it. It seems like sometimes we get away from it. I think I don't know. I don't know. Fat for Forte has got fat fat day. Justin: I don't know if Forte is 30 carries again. Jake: He did any 100 yards. Justin: Yeah, but I don't understand the 30 carry situation. Why does he have to carry the ball 30 times? Jake: Well, it's because we don't know a lot of depth there. Justin: Well, there's Blau Powell, who can run. Jake: I know, but they don't want to. Justin: There's a little conjecture on the post game that while we have four quarterbacks on the roster, we only dress two. There's always two inactive. So there's always just the starter and the backup. Right. it. Jake: Thanks for watching! Justin: And if Fitz would have gotten hurt, Gino could not have come back in the game because he had the torn ACL. So it's not like he was in shape to come back in the game. Powell was. Just in case. Because they didn't want him to get hurt because he was the quarterback. Now, a couple of guys got some carries that. Like the guy that they picked up in the After all the cuts and wasn't even on the team in the preseason Pope. Yep from from Seattle
48:03 Justin: I think he got a carry at the very end of the game So there were guys in the game that wouldn't normally really be in the game It's really the forte Powell show and if one of those guys gets hurt, I don't know what they do But they did use them Particularly forte in the in the past game way more effectively than they had Previously. Yeah, so he caught a couple of nice screenplays that are set up really nice. They need to and scrap the shovel pass It never works. They've tried it. I think three or four different times now and it doesn't work setting up for dump Setting up for the P. No, but they did it. They said they they ran the play again where it was where the where the the shovel and he didn't use the shovel and fits through it out in the flat and that was all covered up too. So it's not fooling any way we run it. Like if it's being used up for the next time where it's a fake, if you actually shovel it that doesn't work either. So like scrap, remove that play from the playbook please. Jake: So, Mikey the Castle after your tirade there, which was the run game. And that line is, you say they're not blocking well. They're banged up. They're banged up. But especially with this type of game, you don't really want to be a fast paced game. You just want to be a good old fashioned like slow beat down. You want to score a touchdown. You want to stop them. You want to score another touchdown. You want to stop them. you want to kick a field goal and then you get a field goal and you go to half. Like that's the kind of game you want. You just want it just to be like a good old-fashioned, you don't want people to get hurt, you don't want, I mean, Fitz got sacked a bunch in big sacks last game. Obviously Gino got sacked what, two, three times? I'm surprised with that because Fitz doesn't generally get sacked, so that to me is the proof that the line is not... doing very well when Fitz is getting sacked because he generally can get away. Gino gets sacked just because he holds on the ball way too long. So I feel like that's it. You just get into the run game. Get in the run game and I feel like we're gonna bust a few. Forto has enough to a that he has to take to the house. I'd love to see more of a wild pal. I just I want to see more of him in the game I feel like he can do almost anything for take and do maybe not as the high level, but I just don't want I don't I want forte to get and get into the run game I don't want to see 30 carries because I don't think that's sustainable Justin: No, it is for an for an old guy like that I mean look if we're having the discussion about david johnson and Leveon bell neither of which neither of which leave the field feed the beast fine 30 carries every week I'm perfectly happy. But this guy's on the wrong side of 30 and you're giving them 30 carries, it just is a recipe for breakdown. Jake: I also think it's kind of one of our one of the off season fl fluffs, the whole four quarterbacks, not a lot of backup, but running back. Justin: Like why couldn't we have drafted one in the sixth?
51:01 Justin: I mean, we have, but we have. Thing is we have this guy Pope, we have no clue. We have no, well, we really don't. We have no idea. We also had guys in the pre-season that we've had years over a year, like Darrell Richardson. I mean, these guys are here. But they're clearly not impressing anybody. Clearly. But I just, I would, like you want to draft a quarterback every year, I would draft a running back somewhere in the fourth through sixth every single year. I don't know. I'd never disagree with you on that. 100%-percent a guy who could either maybe just dual-thracked type of guy who could maybe return kicks or play special teams or whatever. And like a Leon Washington type of player, as a fourth round pick, he was very useful for a number of years and for other teams. Why can't we draft a guy like that every year or try to at least draft a guy like that every year? It sort of makes no sense to me that we can't get that done. Because while you keep four quarterbacks, there's a roster spot that you can't use for someone else. We didn't even draft them though. I'm just saying we didn't even do it. I know, but that's sort of the thing. You have to draft these guys every year because they just don't last. Or a free agent or something. I just feel like you gotta... Nah, free agent running backs are washes. Our running back depth chart is... terrible and it's just like your guy on Denver what round do you think you are yeah what round I don't know Davante Booker or whatever his name is on day Booker draft yeah where'd he go cuz it's like you like him you watch him you're a fan of his watch him last night rip off three ten yard runs in a row when they knew they were running it Jake: He just booshed through and then he booshed through and he booshed through three in a row like three just hand to the guy Here you go. Let me go. All right Where did he go? Great This is the profile doesn't say when he actually got drafted. Come on, dude, you're really awful at this terrible I can't just figure this out picked up fourth round fourth round. There you go Justin: So he's the guy why can't you draft like a guy like that? Who'd we pick in the fourth? I don't know. I Really don't I have no idea Jake: You're oh no is a linebacker Justin: No, he was the third round pick. I was fourth. No Uh, just... Oh, Burris. Burris. Oh, our corner. Who doesn't get on the field? 27 gets on the field. 27. Burris doesn't get on the field. 27. So what do you got for the score? Jake: So I feel like, I think it's just going to blow out. I think it's going to feel good. Justin: Oh, that feels good. Round four. So good. Right, Burris round five We traded up into the fifth from we gave up a pick next year to get back into the fifth this year. Brandon Shell Sure To round seven, Lac Edwards the funtor. Right and Charon Peak and then Charon Peak
54:02 Jake: Peek spin actually not bad. Justin: Good special teams player. Good gunner. Jake: I have this being a freaking blowout to blow out. Pick it! I'm going at 31.9. 23.10. Alright, here we go. I just stick. This is gonna blow out and... You know what? Here's my prediction. Crazy, crazy, crazy prediction. It'll be such a blowout, they'll put in petty. as the sweep up in the fourth quarter. Justin: May as well. May as well. Mop up. Mop up. Mop it up. Jake: Petty will mop it up. All right, we'll be back next week. It's Justin, his Jake saying, as always, let's go Jets. Let's see. You You You You You You
57:02 Jake: You You You You You You You You You You
1:00:02 Jake: You You You You You You You You You You
1:03:02 Jake: You You You You You You You You You You
1:06:02 Jake: You You You You You You You You You You
1:09:02 Jake: You You You You
