19 Jake: Welcome to Jet Kingdom podcast, the longest-running New York guest podcast ever. Take two! I'm Jake joining me 308 times in a row. Feel like I've already said this before. Justin, Justin, how you doing today? You're just gonna speed through it just because you've done it before? Yes. I'm fine, thanks. How you doing? I'm hoping people can hear you this week. We do actually. Me too, that was shitty. We do actually test this before each and every podcast to make sure it's recording. And I watch it. True, true statement. As we do this. and I'll see you guys next time. And I'm watching it now and it looks like it's picking up both your voice and my voice. So that should be good for both of us. So let's get to it! How was your trip to Chicago? It was good. I had a good meal. I went to a place called Jean and Georgetties. You only had one good meal? Well that was like kind of the highlight meal. Yeah, Jean and Georgette's Jesus. Had some other meals, but you know that was a good one. Tailgating wasn't a good meal. We had a good tailgate I think. We had donuts on the grill. Never bad when you have donuts on a grill. We did have donuts on a grill. Yeah, so Jet Kingdom went to Chi-town. We went on the road. We went on the road. Road trip. Road trip. I flew first class because I made it. I did not. You were in cattle. I mean, that was perfectly fine. It was fun. I guess we probably can't talk about the beginning piece, can we? The beginning piece. The Friday event. Can we talk? Well, we should have gotten clearance. So no. Oh shit, that would have been really cool to talk about. Yeah, shit would have been. You want me to try to get clearance right now? Clearance. I want to go see you back in. You get media clearance for that, for that experience that we had on Friday. Yeah, but so we do it. Yeah, why wouldn't we be able to talk about that? We can talk about it in generalities, can't we? What is going on? There's some stuff going on outside. Bird is here. Bird's here. The window's open. All right, let's see what this person does. Bird's flying out the window. Let's see if I can get that clearance. Let's get the clearance. I'm gonna work on it. Work on the clearance, would you? Talk to my media people, talk to Bird. Bird's trying to get, oh, the person has read it. Let's see. And all we need's a thumbs up. Let's see. Or a thumbs down. Wait, three dots, three dots. Oh, that means typing. Three dots, three dots. Typing is occurring. Thanks. This is riveting podcasting. Alright, well... Riveting. We'll see what the current comes in. Anyway, so we flew in on Friday. We had a day on Friday that soon enough we'll be able to
00 Jake: whether or not we can talk about it. We're told no profanity, keep it to facts. That's not what this podcast is about. I think that means we can talk about it, but later can we be profane? Let's try to do this episode of clean one. Let's do a clean one for this one. Oh fuck that I Can't talk about it. I guess literally just said I Don't care then. All right. Well, we can't talk about what we do Friday. We did a fun thing on Friday. It involved Teams and it was fun. We were in Chicago. Yeah, and it was fun Deal with it people and we saw people and met people. Yeah and did things and stuff. It was awesome people All right, then we saw the game. By the way, we're skipping the game before the game that was yeah, we're skipping the Minnesota game although Yeah, can we just talk about the stadium happening? during the Minnesota game. I wanna talk about that for a minute. Oh, you really wanna talk about that? I think that's worth talking about in the Jet Kingdom podcast. I guess. All right, let me lay this out for everybody. Face and pipe. So let me lay my pipe on the table. So we've been season ticket holders, you actually are season ticket holder, for nine years. You were a season, no longer, it wasn't. Four. Well, in a new stadium. The whole time. So... Ten years. Ever since. Resident eight, they opened that stadium. Right. So that long. Ten years. Yes, that's how math works. Thought it was zone nine, but whatever. It doesn't matter. And we've been in the same section the whole time. Same seats. Same exact seats. And we got into the game. We had a fun experience because we were on the field before. During the national anthem, we were actually on the field, which was super cool. Awesome. We were on the Viking sideline. So we saw a bunch of Vikings walk past us and boy, are they huge. when you see them that close. Kyle Rudolph is a monster. He's a massive human being. Stefan Diggs, Adam Thelen, they all just walked right past us. It was very cool. And so we got up to the seats slightly after the kickoff and we kind of missed like the first drive because Minnesota scored in about a minute and a half. off. I think we may have seen the touchdown pass. Perhaps. And I looked behind us and nobody was in our section. Like we're in like the fourth row down, I guess, from the top of the section in the 200s and nobody was behind us. It's like, what's going on behind us? All of a sudden, this huge group just piles in. They have all the seats. It's like a group of like 30 people and they are drunk. Real drunk. Came in on a bus from Connecticut. Just super wasted. Yep. And they were not cool about the whole thing. Meaning they would be they were just too drunk to be in public, right?
01 Jake: And they didn't sit where they were supposed to sit. They were causing disturbances at one point Somebody just sat in my seat while I was standing there next to the seat, which is very strange And then when I said excuse me, that's my seat. He said so what which is also a really weird response to somebody saying you're sitting in my seat, but okay. Well, it all boiled over when everybody just started trying to get into the rows and there was like, hey, there's too many people in the row for the number of seats in the row. And it's like, we're starting to complain to security. me. They're like, not really sure what to do about it. They can't check everybody's ticket, although they totally can. And all of a sudden, you were like off maybe at a concession stand or complaining or something. And your daughter was with us and I'm sitting there with her and your seat is empty next to her. And then a guy is sitting next to your seat. Great. He's eating nachos. I've never seen anything like it. It's fascinating. See you in college. And he just stops eating the nachos, Whatever you just eat. Whatever. It was all there. And then just keeps eating the nachos. Right? I found it funny. the, your daughter found it scary. So we got up and we sort of moved ourselves. We removed ourselves from the section and then to the Chet's credit, after egging them and telling them like, listen, this is a problem. You've got a huge problem on your hands here. They moved us. to a different section, which was very nice of them. They even came back later on in the game in the fourth quarter to say, hey, how's it going? Has the rest of your experience been OK? So kudos to the Jets for kind of handling it after the fact. But like we complained at least three or four times before action was taken. And it could have been a dangerous situation. I've never. sat in my home stadium and felt, like, threatened. I felt more safe at the Soldier Field. That's right. I felt safer there. Wearing jets for. And people are just having fun with you, like, you know, little garbs here and there, barbs, whatever. I don't know. Yeah, whatever. Well, when I went to the bathroom, people were like, yeah, jets. talk whatever and I'm like yeah we do so what what's your point you're observant you too can read the scoreboard very good have another brat sir so I just wanted to throw that out there kudos for the Jets but at the same time kind of like it's a yeah it's a good and the bad like they handle it very well afterwards You know, they were what I love about that stadium. I know you don't love the look of it, but I love about that stadium
00 Jake: is I do keep the same staff in the same areas. So the people who I see every week and, you know, we go to every game that I see and I know them, I know the security staff, I know the people at the concessions, I know like I know them because I see them every week and there's that level of comfort. And hopefully then we have a new set of people in front of us. See, see, get holders. Yes. Which. which is good because they're consistent. And that's what I think, and I forgot who I was talking to, but that's what makes a stadium good and makes a home stadium good is if you start to build those relationships with the people at the stadium, not only the fans, but also the staff. And I guess the fail on this part was this person, I knew him, I've known him for years. We've known him for years. Years, like I, yeah. Again, we don't, you know, have you got a miss cards? It's like, what's up, bro? Yeah, like a fist bump. I recognize you. They were doing all the things that they say, text. I went up to him. I said, come here and deal with this. I don't need to text somebody. At that point, they should have put the cameras on them, the eye in the sky on them, watched them. If they saw anything, then they did what they did, which they came in with a group of 10 guys and surrounded them and said, hey guys, like, let's start looking at you. One of the two from the group did come up to me. He's like, hey, that wasn't me, was it? I was like, I don't care which one it was of you. There's too many of you to know which one it was. It's not one guy. You're guys stumbling and falling down and like. Literally throwing out. Yes. And that was it. That was the turning. Because it was like, now are you going to listen? Because look, now you have to clean up that pile of throw-up. Right. I almost got thrown out years ago. for saying fuck you to Tom Brady's dad. Well, I didn't who deserves it. I didn't know it was Tom Brady's dad, but it's awesome that it was Tom Brady's dad. So like, you know, if that's the level of you're going to come down and talk to me and tell me to be quiet, then these guys doing that plus throwing up, plus sitting in other people's seats, you'd think that would have been the out. But anyway, anyway. The moral of the story is when you can say fuck you to Tom Brady's dad, just do it. Do it. Do it. Don't worry about the consequences. Fuck you Brady's dad. I didn't. Fuck you Mr. Brady. I did. I didn't know it was his dad. Did you fuck Tom Brady's dad? Okay. You're going too far. Now you really cannot be able to talk about it. Now we can't talk about Friday at all. Alright, let's talk about this game. Uh, we think there was a game. Yeah, we were there. Soldier fields, Chicago. Let's talk about the Soldier Field. I have two things that every fan that I've now talked to about their own home stadium always complains about their home stadium. Whether it's too expensive, whether it's too whatever, it's too remote, it's not whatever. I walked in there like, this place is super cool. It's right off downtown. It's right in this big park. It's right by the river. We walked in. They have parking. I think that's important, like you can tailgate. Apparently it's extremely expensive and hard to get into, but whatever. Yeah, but we were there.
00 Jake: And then they build, they basically took the old, they plop this, you know, they say they built this alien ship on top of the old stadium, which has all this history around it with the columns and stuff like that. Super fun. Very fun. I mean from a stadium it's a smaller stadium and I can see how people don't like how it's very stacked on top of each other. It's very straight up. It's vertical and I think that that's meant purposely. Because you can't. Well, also. Because they couldn't go out. Well yeah because they built it inside of an existing stadium. Which is amazing and very cool and has very cool character to it because it has this You old feel like it looks old on the outside but then when you get the inside it's rather modern weird how you get in though you've got to like walk up to walk down is very strange stairs that's just a little weird but other than that the stadium itself was clean yep Sightlines were good. Yep. Especially where we were sitting, we were basically in like the analog to our seats. Like 200 level in the corner. I think it's just close to the field. I don't feel closer to the field. I didn't feel as close to the field. I think that's because we were we were like way back and covered. Right. Whereas MetLife is very like the gradient is very it's not steep, the opposite of steep, whatever that is. Shallow, I guess, the gradient, right? It goes like out, very, very steep. Down, down it does. When it goes up, it goes fast, like on the top level, it's very steep. As it should be, because really you want to be as close to the field as possible. If it goes way, way out, that's crazy. You don't want to be 300 feet in the air. The old Yankee Stadium was a lot of fun to be at the top. It was like straight down anyway Very cool stadium. I think they had a really nice in-game experience, too They had their own things going on like when they scored they had the song that they sing which I'm always a big fan of I I liked the the I really liked the the way that the the way that you could see some of the old stadium as part of like, they didn't just knock it all down. Right, exactly. Which they liked. A little bit of history around it. Yeah. I mean, the thing is you would never have done that with MetLife. No, you would have never, because, and again, remember, MetLife seats about 80 to 85. I think you can go up to 88. See you next week. This seat 62. Yeah, it's really small. So and it's not like it's a small city in Chicago. So it's packed. But again, they I heard the fans complaining about it. They complained about the price. It can. Everyone's going to complain about anything. But it was packed. It was a good game. It was a good. It was a game there was not a good game. No, I mean, we had we had our chance here. I rewatch this one. Oh, you did. I did not have a chance. So we so we went into halftime and it was. 7-3 Chicago fine
02 Jake: They got their big play out of them in the first quarter, which was gonna happen It was a screen pass for Biscay literally threw the ball four yards and sure it Cohen did the rest and took it 70 fine They caught us on a blitz. They got us great We go down we score a field goal. It's 7-3 at half. I'm feeling like okay. They only scored seven points Not a big deal. They came out and scored in the third quarter a touchdown. What ebs. And then they went up and and scored another field goal and make it 17-13 which is like all right now we're down two scores and it's the fourth quarter and we've only scored a field goal. Right. Well we did go down the field and we did score a touchdown to make it 17-10. I was like, all right, we're in this game, we just need to stop. And the defense was just... Gassed yeah in the fourth quarter from just too many Three and outs too many punts and how many times did this guy punt in this game eight punts? like a lot of three and outs a lot of just Not being able to run which really impacted the game and a lot of false star penalties, which was like Fine, we ran the ball on first down and gained three yards. Fine, it's second and seven. And then all of a sudden it's like, nope, second and 12. And it's like, well, fuck, now what are we supposed to do? Because there's nobody that you can just throw the ball down the field to. Like, options were sparse. The leading receiver on the Jets was a guy that came off the practice squad two weeks ago, Deontay Burnett, with four catches for 61 yards. cards. I mean, he was trying to force the ball to Jermaine curse, but Jermaine curse is slow. And in reality should be like the fourth receiver on this team. And he's really the number one right now. It's not a good look. We were going in with kind of just a backup squad. And this is where, this is the only argument I will say for why you would not start. Like we were talking about you should start him. I always say start the quarterback, start the quarterback, start the quarterback. The only reason you wouldn't start a quarterback and like keep a rookie like kind of protect them a little is if there's just absolutely no one to protect them and no one to throw to and you know, we're gonna get some players back and Whatever this week, but like that's sort of my issue is that Now it's some of it's been in years injuries, but it really didn't put a big squad around him. Looking back, I think in the preseason we're all like, look at these. It was like three 1,000 yard receivers and like... Oh yeah, I mean in the preseason you're like, all right Quincy's coming back. Right. Yeah, Robbie Anderson. We've got Pryor as a wild card. We've got Curse coming back. Oh my goodness, and then you've got Audrey Roberts as a kick returner. Well, he has to be on the team in Chiron Peak.
02 Jake: You're down to slim pickings, man. Yeah. There's nothing on the field. And everything was so vanilla. And that's not like the quarterback, per se. That's everybody. It's like, all right, we're running an offense where we're running Deontay Burnett out there. Yeah, Deontay Burnett. I mean, if you ever heard that news name ever. Can you really run some sophisticated stuff where a guy's just been on the team for two weeks? Jermaine curse was injured all preseason. The running game stunk. We had the backup center in there. It was it was a shit show. An atrocity. They didn't even have Khalil mag. Right. And they I mean They didn't necessarily get a whole ton of pressure on Darnold, although when I rewatched it, they kind of did. They were kind of in his face a lot and he had to get rid of the ball real quick. He did step through a lot of pressure, which was very impressive because we've seen rookie quarterbacks before where that pressure comes and they just go backwards. He goes forwards, which is a nice trait. It's the thing that you see good quarterbacks in the league do. He steps through it and then all of a sudden wide open pocket. But there were a couple of place towards the end of the game where... They were just coming at him and he had to roll out to his right and throw the ball away. He didn't make the stupid play, but he didn't force it either. And if he would have forced it, he would have thrown a pick. He didn't throw a pick in this game, which was good. But there was nothing to there wasn't even a place to force the ball. That's how bad the offense looked. And because the offense looked so bad, it made the defense worse than it actually. Could have been, because holding Chicago to 24, that's not too bad on the road. It's a pretty explosive team. They have weapons, they have a really good system, and that's the thing that we need to focus on as an organization, is realizing that this league is so much an offensive league. to the point of like you need to have a real offensive system in place not this bullshit because this is so vanilla it's so no i get it when you have nobody left on your team and you you know you're devoid of talent and you know you're all your starters are kind of not there that's not when you bring in the greatest system so Yeah, come on. I'm not going to say happy. The 49ers dropped 34 points last night with a guy off the street playing quarterback. But that's a Shanahan system and that's supposed to be what we're running. But is it is it the system? Is it because he can't install it? Because it's just not enough players to install. There's nobody on the Niners. The guy walked off the street, he's an undrafted rookie free agent, started and threw for three touchdowns, no picks and put up 34 on the Raiders. We also didn't play the Raiders. We played the Bears.
00 Jake: I doubt. Fine. You know? It was still a Thursday night. The guy didn't even know he was starting. We'll see what we do against these next two teams coming up. I mean these are... two winnable games coming up. And so like there should be some there should be some wins. And it'll be interesting at you know, at least at home in two weeks. But on the road, I'm not too worried about being down in sunny Florida. Pick your fool of the game and let's move on. Can I just pick like the trenches? Can I just say we've done like 17 times before. Well, it's the key to the game and we lost it on both sides of the field. I'll happily just. Choose the offensive line if you want because they were a shit show I mean, how many pre-snap penalties do we need? There's a lot of penalties. There were like five pre-snap penalties on both sides of the ball If you look at a lot of the stats really fucking terrible like, you know There's just a lot of stats to show you where you are. How many first downs 12 to 22? Okay You're not really doing much there When you look at, you know, time possession, 27, 16 to 32, 44. Okay, not too bad. When you look at like, the penalties in yards, they had two penalties for 25 yards. We had eight penalties for 45 yards. And it's not just the yards because it's, but it's the yards when you have them. If you have a penalty on second down. It's second and seven. It turns into second and 12. That is a whole other ball game because on second and seven, you can do whatever you want. You can run the ball for two yards fine, you're at 35. You could throw the ball down the field fine, you're at third and seven, but at second and 12 you're kind of forced into throwing the ball or generally like we run for like two yards to try and get it back to like third and ten which is bullshit. Yeah. Corel had a terrible game too, I think he's injured. He was definitely injured. So bad game. I'm gonna pick uh... Mmm. I don't know, I don't know who I, I mean, again, this is just, we knew this was gonna happen. You're gonna have rookies come out there, you're not gonna give them enough talent, they're just not gonna go anywhere, they're just not gonna do anything. Like, you're not, you can't just put together, especially with rookie quarterbacks on the road with no talent around them. It's not like he's throwing to Brown and Hopkins, like he's throwing to just people who just don't even exist. Like, they're not, you're never gonna hear their names ever again. To be clear though, we lose this game with Josh McCown anyway, right? Yeah, with that talent? I mean, just swap out Sam for Josh? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like there have been games where you and I have discussed like, oh, we probably win that one. That first Dolphins game, I feel like we would have won. And the Browns game too. Like if in the fourth quarter they said, we're going to go to the relief pitcher on this one. We would have won that Browns game with Josh McCown. But I think this is just, to me, this is just building a nice case for wiping out the coaching staff.
04 Jake: The penalties, the attitude. He was just quoted the other day as saying, well, it's still a pound and ground, or it's still a running league. No, it's not, you dumbass. No, it's not. It's really not. If you can run. That's great. Because games like that, you do end up really taking control. Like the indie game, right? Yeah, we've done it. Yeah, we did it once this year. But you need a passing quarterback. We have played eight games. So we've done it one time. Like we're not that team, asshole. no we're not so all right move on move on.org uh let's talk about oh i mean the trade deadline came and went and some crazy trades happened but none for the jets just didn't really stay in there the giants uh clean house yeah they did snacks gone we'll see how it if they got one other ui apple yep go on I mean that's... Odell Beckham's looking like a nightmare. He's just Eli Manning looking like a nightmare. I like to shit on the Giants whenever possible because it makes me feel a little better. Alright, well I don't need to do that. Some other guys got moved around though. A lot of wide receivers and it does make... There's a nice article about the wide receivers and picks. And so, what was it, Amari Cooper went to the Cowboys first. It was like one of the first moves. It was for a first rounder. First rounder. And then everybody else, who had better talents, went for like fourths and thirds and fifths. It's like, yeah, you guys totally are a badly run organization. I mean, the Raiders, for all the shit that they're going to go through this year, and they really are, they're going to be the worst team in the league. They have five first round picks in the next two years. I mean, that is I mean, Gruden's there for 10 years. Yes. Or so his contract says. Well, he's there. He may as well wipe the fucking house in the first year or two and draft who he wants. Right. Well, what did Parcells always say? Right? If you want me to make dinner, let me go buy the groceries. That's right. Yeah, that's what he's doing. He's buying groceries. He's gonna get a lot of this. And guess what? Amari Cooper for a first round pick? Good deal, Oakland. Oh, yeah. Even the Khalil Mack for two firsts? Eh. I could argue that both ways. I could see how that'd work out in your favor. And a guy was walking out of the stadium as a jet fan. because we were obviously in on the Mac sweepstakes, we're saying what I've been saying all along, like, all right, Trubisky's in his second year, you've got this year and two more to win that championship with Mac, otherwise you're fucked. Because basically you give up your next two year first round picks, you've got to win that title. You're gonna pay him because then you've got to pay Mitch. Otherwise you're not paying Mitch and then you got to start all over. Yeah, no, that's what we've been saying. We have we have a five year window this year and then four. Like really, it's the next four.
01 Jake: We're not winning it this year because that ain't happening. We got to go get the free agents sign, sign them and go draft the guys to build around Sam and basically win in his third, fourth or fifth year. and that's the way it works. Let's see it, let's see if we can do it. All right, let's get to our, we'll do a little- Some injuries, yeah, some injuries? Well, we can talk about injuries when we get to the Jets game, because we're gonna make up some time here. Okay. All right, so let's go, how do we do? Let's go back a week, see what the matchups were in the Jet Kingdom Fantasy League. I took on Big Cat, Little Cannon, great name by the way. That is a good name. Steven Paul, Steven, won't do last names. times. And I won! Yay! And you took on... Who'd you take on? Shut up. Girly Qs and you lost. Are you just doing terribly? Oh, I lost. I am not great in that league. No, you're not. I mean, there's still a flip now. You know what happened was I had the first overall pick, and I picked Lebian Bell instead of Todd Gurley. Justin: Yeah. Jake: And that really does flip the whole season. Yeah, it does. You can lose with your first round pick. That's what people generally don't like, the first round pick. because it's too or that first pick because it is so you can lose right there because you don't get the seg around until it comes all the way back around to you um this week i'm taking on ramon and through the wire and uh i guess it's gonna beat me huh Who's gonna beat me? This week you're gonna get beat by... Steven, who I just played. Big Cat Little Cannon. Alright. So there you go. You can get beat. Alright, let's do our picks. How'd we do it? Last two weeks. What, week seven and eight? Well, I can tell you, week eight I had nine. That's not bad. Which is pretty decent for me. Because I'm terrible at this. And in week seven, I had seven. I, like the Dolphins, went eight and eight for the last two weeks. So we've basically stayed on track. Yeah, you're still five games behind you. I can pick that up. That's a lot. I got half the season to get you. Yeah, you say this every year, and every year you don't. Well, I already lost the Thursday night game. How about you? I'm about to go see. And I got it wrong, yeah. Big time. We both picked Oakland. I guess we know better than that. So let's pick every game except for the AFC East, and then we'll get to the AFC East and our thrown picks, and then we'll pick the keys to the castle. We're beating the Dolphins on... Lots of buys, by the way. I think six teams on buy this week, which means we only have three, four o'clock games. We're gonna do... We're going to do this super quick. OK. We're going to go fast. We're going to go real fast. Speed, round. OK, ready? Kansas City at Cleveland, head coach Greg Williams in Cleveland. I'll take Kansas City. I'll lay those 10 points. Not worried about it. I kind of like it. There's no Greg Williams bump. I'm sorry. But 10's a lot. It's the Browns. Give me Cleveland. OK. Alright, Minnesota is hosting Detroit. Minnesota is favored by 4.5.
03 Jake: Detroit made some weird moves. They acquired acquired snacks, which made them look like buyers. But then they traded Golden Teeth in the same week, which was like, wait a minute, you just got a really good guy and then traded away a good guy. I don't get that. Minnesota's home, four and a half. I'll take Minnesota. I'll take many at home. OK, Washington is hosting Atlanta. Washington traded for safety. Haha, Clinton Dix. Dix. Dix. Dix. Dix. Dix. Dix. to. I'll take Alana off the by. Okay, give me an interesting take. Carolina is hosting Tampa. Tampa starting fits magic. So Winston is this done? Is this Vince Young? I think I think Winston's done in Tampa. Yeah, I think he has to be done in Tampa. I do not however think that he's done in the league. The Giants would have been smart to maybe try to grab him. Yeah for for something Because they could really use a little like see if he's got it or not I thought he had a good head on his shoulders, but whatever I'm gonna take Fitz getting seven points. He when he played he lit it up Yeah, I'm I'm I'm gonna take Tampa Bay, but I have this gut that we're gonna see a fits game Baltimore laying two and a half. I like Pittsburgh. I think Baltimore at home. I think Pittsburgh's a crap show. I think Baltimore's a crap show. I think Pittsburgh is coming in their own right now. Is Bell playing? It hasn't really mattered all year. Oddly, Connor has been excellent for them. Give me back four. Four o'clock. We only have three. Only one national. which is a good one. Which we'll get to in a minute. This one is Denver hosting Houston. Weird line, this open Denver favored by three. It is now a pick-em. I guess that- - that was the Will Fuller going down and then the Demarius Thomas moving from Denver to Houston. And now playing each other. That's right. And And That's where the three points went. Yep. With Demarius Thomas. They're like, we're going to take those and move them over here. Yeah, because one team lost a person to throw it to. But Denver has this guy named Sutton, who's really good coming up behind Demarius. So I think they made a smart move there. I'll still take Houston with the pick them though, because I saw Denver firsthand. They suck. They're not very good. I'll take Houston all day. Houston's on a roll. The only thing that could help Denver is playing in my eye.
02 Jake: Right. All right. Here's another pick them Seattle home to the L.A. Chargers pick them. I'll take Seattle at home. Just picking them to win at home is always a safe bet. Chargers coming off the bye, though. I do think the other is going to win, but that's a lot. I know. Lines. If you? Think Seattle is going to win. You got to pick Seattle. Yeah, I just feel like. I don't know. That's a tough one. I would stay away from that in our other pool where you only pick three But anyway, I'll take to Seattle on this one. All right, and then this is the national four o'clock game It's a good one. New Orleans is hosting the Rams great game a lot offense The Rams also traded with the Jaguars for Dante Fowler an outside rocket. Could they put more people on that team at this point? I think they're just going for it. They're like this is it, this is the window, Golf's in year three, this is the window. By the way, people pay attention because this is what we're supposed to be like in two years. So pay attention. Uh, the Rams. So I'm gonna take the Rams. They're undefeated. I think they stay undefeated. They're even actually like... Getting a point here. Yeah, I guess it's just cuz they're normal. That's weird and it was really good It flipped when it did two points it did But I'm gonna take the Rams. I'll take the Rams as well. Okay. We'll skip Sunday night You know, it's a great one great Sunday night and then we got Monday night, which is crap shit We got Dallas is hosting Tennessee Dallas is favored by seven. They always fuck up on national TV I don't know if they'll lose per se, but seven's too much. I'll take Tennessee. I like Dallas at home on a Monday night. They just get in the night. They always fuck up. They get that massipatory thing going. Yeah, but they fuck up. They can't handle the pressure. They, too, are coming off a bye, I think. Dallas was on a bye last week. Yeah, so it's like a long bye, because they play on Monday. Yeah, I think that's it. What the fuck? Can you fix your schedule? Like, why would they play on Monday? All right, let's get to it. OK. Give me some of those beautiful spreads. All right, so first we have Chicago at Buffalo, and Buffalo is plus 9 and 1.5. Buffalo signed Terrell Pryor. Of course it did. All right, bird, chill the fuck out, man. Very excited about Terrell Pryor. So, Peterman is supposed to start because Derek Anderson, the names that we're talking about here are hilarious. So, their rookie's still injured. And he sucks anyway. Peterman stinks. They wanted to play Anderson, but he got a concussion I guess during the game. But no one knew I guess. against New England and then They signed trail prior and there were a bunch of rumors like prior is like the best quarterback on the team Why doesn't he play quarterback? I don't think that's gonna happen I think Peterman plays and I think Chicago kind of kicks their butt
00 Jake: When this is the 20 scored six points last week 23 to 3 Chicago, I'll give them I'll give them another third of points They will score nine points this week, which is great. Go from six to nine. They were at Buffalo, though. It's the only thing I could think of. Yeah, they were at Buffalo, too, when they lost to the Pats. I know Chicago's not the Pats, but Chicago played the Pats pretty tough. And we just saw Chicago. And they're pretty good. I'm going higher, 34-9, dub airs. I got 23-3. All right, then we have the Sunday night game, which is Green Bay. It is going to New England. after Green Bay just kind of got like man they played a tough game they really did and they got screwed at the end there when Montgomery just decided to not... Who was also not on the team. Oh yeah, they were like, screw you man. You didn't... The whole point of the team is to let Aaron Rodgers have the ball at the end of the game and win. Like, you have to give him a chance. You can't take that ball out of the end zone and fumble. That's the last thing you need to do right there. Just... kneel down, keep the time on the clock, and take the ball up to 25 because Aaron Rodgers can go down the field in four plays. Yes. And be done. So Green Bay is still very good. I think New England is still a little better. I got New England 34, Green Bay 30. The line is five and a half, so I have Green Bay covering if you care about that kind of thing. But I like New England to win the game. They're just better. They're just yeah You can't the Green Bay's gonna score so they're gonna get into the 20s I'll give them 23, but I just don't know at home at night How you mean that's just so good is where you don't want to see New England It's you don't want to see them ever at night No, they don't really lose that often in the first place and I could see I could see the divide rolling this right up There's no defense on Green Bay. And they lost one of their better players. Haha Clinton Dix is no longer on the team. now New England. and priors not in the league. So good job there. Whoever decided on that one. That was that. I was an addict. It's a first round pick. All right. And then the game of the day. Got this wrong. It's NYJ at Miami. So I think I screwed that up. Oh, always. NYJ at. Miami and Miami's favored by a full three or is it two and a half? I think it's three I thought I saw it was two and a half elsewhere. I'm gonna look again. It's three three in Yahoo two and a half elsewhere All right. So let's talk about these keys to the castle or I guess we should touch on injury
01 Jake: So our our center long is he gonna come back? I thought he was gonna play in Chicago Turns out he didn't They were worried about like the slick field because it was kind of rainy. The little rainy. I'm assuming the starting centers back in long. How about Tremaine Johnson? What's the news on him? All right, so let's see. What's the deal? What's going on? He's questionable. So that's actually a good designation for him. I think he's fine. He'll play. Okay, so he's coming back from the quad. That's good. So we have long. We have long Jenkins and Mayer all probable. So they're playing. So no issues. Long Jenkins. Jordan Jenkins. And Marcus May. I didn't even know Jordan Jenkins was even heard. And Marcus. Well Marcus May is gonna play. He's gonna play. He's like yeah one week's enough for a broken thumb. Quincy's out. Quincy and Yuma is out. How about Anderson? Everybody else is questionable. Robbie Anderson? Robbie Anderson is questionable. Jermaine Johnson's questionable. Neil Sterling? Neil Sterling is questionable. He should not play. Second of the year. Stay out, dude. It would be nice to get back. Having Marcus May back in the field is good. Always a good thing. Quincy Nyeon. But if we can get at least like we could get Robbie back and at least have something down the field Yes, just something like something of a weapon and when we get back so we get back Mcguire next week possibly I think he could come back this week Um, he's still on he's still an ir officially supposed to be off the ir by now Because we played the eight weeks So this is the week he can come off the IR. Same with, Rontes Miles can come off the pup and we have 21 days to activate him. It'll be interesting when Elijah McGuire comes back cause he will have a role on the team. Unlike last year where he was kind of the third back, he's going to be the second back and maybe even the first. Yep. So I think we're going to see what he has. I think that would be because he's just going to replace whatever Powell was doing. Yep. Because Cannon is interesting, but he's not Blah. No, and he didn't really know he didn't and he couldn't really get going against this. This is a little fast guy. He's fast. He had that one shot. He needs space. Yes. They don't get him out in space. You can get him some space. So all right, give me the keys to Castle to beat in the dolphins. It's super simple. Strangle the cock. So yeah, talk about injuries. They're not playing their quarterback. They're playing Brock the cock. Well, he's been their quarterback for like the last three or four weeks. Yeah. I think they like him. Well, there was the connection with the head coach. Yes, Adam Gace was the offensive coordinator in Denver when Peyton Manning was there and Brock was drafted there. And that season that they won the Super Bowl and Manning was injured and Brock played what,
03 Jake: like five, six games and played fairly well. And there was even some controversy going into the playoffs like should Manning actually player Brock And that was Adam Gace as the offensive coordinator. So in his system Brock plays well so You know, we like to make fun of Brock being terrible with Houston and Being terrible elsewhere not even last year back in Denver He was terrible, but I don't think he's gonna be as terrible as you think when you're watching the game. He's a big guy Um, you know, he can see over the line. I don't think he's super mobile. He does seem to have a favorite target who emerged last week in Devontae Parker out of nowhere. So you've got this. They're fast, Miami. They have fast guys. They're running back. Fine, Frank, or he's not fast, but Kenyon Drake is fast. They have that guy Grant, who's very fast. He gets out on the edge and does things like very like those little screenplays that should be tackled for two yards He takes him for like 20 Um, I think that's the kind of offense that Brock can operate like fast quick things um, I think if we shut the running game down and don't let Gore or Drake get going at all and get them into like second and longs and third and longs and if Tremaine Johnson's back and can cover Devontae Parker, I think we're in good shape in this game. I like us to win 23-17. The game is not going to be that close though. I think it'll be 23-10 with a late touchdown to make it 23-17. Really? Yeah, I think we're gonna have this game in hand somewhere in the middle of the, like, beginning middle of fourth quarter. Yeah, I mean I... It's hard to beat a team twice, and the Dolphins already beat us once when they shouldn't have, so I don't think they're gonna beat us again. I think it's gonna be a tough match. Again, it's not like... I just feel like the weapons aren't there for us, the players we want. Here's my just gut on the game is I'm looking for a grow up game. I've seen some bad games from some, we're seeing the ups and downs of Sam Darnold. We're seeing a good game, we're seeing a bad game, we're seeing an amazing game, we're seeing a terrible game. He's going ups and downs. You know, he should. to some degree start to get some comfort level and we should start to see some progress. I'd love to just see a good Sam Donald game, a good game where he and the defense. A complete game. Yeah, a complete game. No turnovers, throw for some touchdowns. I mean, I think one of the things that killed us last week, we talked about it already, was penalties. I'd love to see that stop. Like, let's, here it is. You tell me right now how many penalties we have. And I'll tell you whether we won or not. If we have under five penalties for the entire game.
01 Jake: That's hard. No, it's not. It is. It's hard. Two or four penalties is fine. If we're in the eight, nine, 10 penalties, we're not winning this game. This is about keeping the ball, driving the field, and taking your field goals or your touchdowns. Again, I think they gotta get the tight ends in going here. If you don't have a lot of wide receivers, you get your tight ends. We've got a bunch of them. Some of them are high draft picks. Let's get them in there. Let's get them used. Let's start using them in a creative way. They should be targeted a lot. Oh yeah, Herndon has stepped up over the last couple of weeks. I think he's got touchdowns in like the last three games, maybe. I think, yeah, but he's only targeted twice last week. You know, but that's like. That's part of like, all right, let's not let this guy beat us. Because there's no one else to beat us. Yeah, that's crazy that it's it's our. Yeah, but that's the thing. So that's the tight end. It's a tight end. Sam Donald tight end connection. Keep the ball moving. Low penalties. We can win. I think it'll be low scoring. I think it's probably be hot down in Miami this week. I don't think it's a little, I think it's a little bit more. Maybe some rain? Maybe. Maybe a little bit. I call it 2218 near jets. Just over the spread. Just by a point. Just covering. Just a little bit. Just a little. Just a little. Just the tip. Just the uncut tip. Alright, we will get back to that cock. And we'll talk to you next week. Until then... Brock the uncut cock. It's Justin and Jess. It's terrible. And we wonder why nobody listens. Justin and Jason saying, as always, Let's go, Jess. We need to take care of them!
