13 Jake: This is the Jet Kingdom Podcast. episode number three September 5th 2007 AlkenPix. Let me introduce you to Justin Jeremy, Jeremy Justin. I'm Jay. Oh wow, three J's this is crazy. We can go with Alken Justin: mix things up a little bit I guess. Yeah Justin is Jake: just at all on on most places and i'm of course for as a leader uh... but uh... i haven't spoken just nine of the long time uh... alken i have spartan the message for their for a while but a few times and more than a few times for the skit so so i guess what we're just going to talk about We're going to talk about the Patriots really because we want to do this as a weekly podcast but then I want to introduce and talk to different fans of different teams and see how they're fairing and what you guys are doing. So I guess Jeremy, just start us off with a little bit of what you think the biggest things that happen in the off season for the Patriots and then maybe we'll just kind of kick it into a conversation. Justin: Biggest things, I would say definitely the signing of Randy Moss. That was the biggest thing. Of course, it would have been nice to see him a little more in the preseason. But then, of course, you guys have all heard about Rodney Harrison and Richard Seymour right now. So we'll be starting out a little weak on defense. So what has, now what does it deal with Randy Moss? Has he played it all? Has he played one down? Not in preseason. He's about practice. Yeah, he has been practicing They caught him sneaking on the pre on the practice field actually during the preseason games So he's been practicing. They're just not putting him on the field for preseason yet. Okay It was not to and what's the rumor mill telling you? Jake: I mean, what is, I guess what's the, what's the thing on the field saying that, why he's doing that? Is it just to keep him a secret or is... Justin: Oh, I think it might be a little bit of both. I think they just want to make sure he's healthy for the first week and then... Is it that handy? Maybe a little bit to get into Mangini's head too, so... Jake: Come on now, you can't get into Mangini's head. Justin: Well, they can try. Yeah, that's true. That's true. I think the most of it... Jake: I can't imagine that they wouldn't have benefited from at least playing at least a down together maybe Justin: You wouldn't you think but I'm sure with the practice I'm sure they were able to get together a little bit So they probably know each other pretty well just from practice the rumor on the street today was that Jake: They were looking that he might not even make the team that they that the Patriots could cut Randy Moss today And that was today. That was the rumor. I read it on fin haven today. I
03 Jake: Yeah, I can't imagine because it seems like yeah, I'd heard it Justin: I don't know a couple days ago. They were talking about that or trading him right, but I don't know I don't know where that came from really, but I can't see it happening. What about Dante Stallworth? How's he been working out? um, I only caught a couple their preseason games and He didn't play a lot, but he had a couple pretty nice plays. I mean, if it came to him, he was going to catch it. Jake: Do you consider him the number one receiver on the team? Or do you still consider Moss the number one? Justin: I guess going into week one, he would about have to be number one with Moss just not being on the field as much. But I'm sure by middle of the season, it'll be Moss at number one. Jake: You must be really excited about Wes Welker. I am. You're going to see him on the field quite a bit. I have a feeling. Justin: We're going to be seeing a lot of him, I think. He's explosive. I was really excited after seeing him and playing for Miami. I was really excited to see him come to New England. Yeah. Jake: I think he's going to actually have a fairly good season in the slot. ... actually. Yeah, I think so too. Those two guys on the outside of him. He does remind me of Cabette a little bit which is yeah well that's probably because he's white. That's good. He just eats like that little kind of scrambling guy who just seems to be open. So I wanted to Jeremy, tell me a little bit about Lawrence Moroni and his shoulders if he's both you know ready to carry the whole team on his shoulders and are his shoulders healthy enough to carry the load? Justin: Right. Well, like anything with the Patriots, I mean, they don't tell you anything, but Jake: just like that feeling. How's Brady's shoulder, by the way? Justin: Brady's. I didn't hear anything about that as far as I know it's alright. I'm sure it'll be listed as probable, I'm sure. Probable for shoulder. I think the last three years but Maroney we've been concerned Maroney. I don't know I'm I'm a little nervous about him. I'll just have to get a few games in that season and see how he does He came in the last preseason game and took some pretty good hits and seemed to be okay from him But we'll just see how the how he handles the wear and tear of being the full-time guy So let's switch gears a little bit. Jake: Sorry, Jason. Well, I have one last question. This is why we are podcasters. So are we making a lot or a little of Brady's son's name? I'm making a lot of little of that. That's what we're making a lot of. That's what we stopped for. Yeah. I don't know. Come on. J-E-T-M. But it's close enough. And they're going to call him Jet. Justin: No, nothing. I haven't heard. I don't know if they're going to refer to him as jet or not. If they do, that's a definite vendetta thing going on there, I think. But I think it's Jake: more coincidence. I was going to switch gears and talk about the defense and say, you know, we've long known.
00 Jake: Harrison as a cheater, you know. But now we get to find out that he really, you know, was actually doing stuff against the rule book. Talk about how that affects the team, his four games. He's a big part of that defense. And, you know, I feel he deserves more than four games, but that's just me. Justin: Yeah, I think the four games, the way I understood it, that was the minimum and that was just because he cooperated and admitted to purchasing them and everything. I think it's going to have a definite effect on the secondary, especially if Wilson's still not 100% at free safety. But I don't know, the past two years he's been pretty much gone and we've been able to make do without him. So I think we'll be able to limp through it. Jake: You guys have beat us before without having him on the field. Yeah So yeah, it'd be nice to have him there, but I think so what what all right So now I want to go for the go for the Patriots Patriots outlook on the Jets So since it is a jet podcast I have to you know make you do it and I you do happen to hang out on Jets Come couple hundred a couple thousand yeah a few I think you want Yeah, so so so let me know what do you you know take off the the glasses take off the um You know the Patriots fan on the Jets board like what's your real outlook? What's what's you really feel about the Jets this year? You know whether if we're fluke last year's man. Jeannie really have it like give us give us the Patriots here Justin: Um, I really I think man. Jeannie does have it I'm not seeing a big drop off from last season. You haven't lost a lot from last year. So I think you're going to be looking at probably about what you had last year. What were you, 10 and 6 last year, I think it was? 10 and 6, yeah. I'd say somewhere right around there, maybe 9 and 7. But I mean, you haven't done a whole lot to hurt themselves. So I think they'll be just fine. What do you think about the Thomas Jones pickup? I think that's a really good pickup. I don't think they did enough with their offensive line to improve it. They really could have, especially with Kendall leaving now. I mean, I think they've really got some problems on the offensive line now. And that's something that's really, I think a guy like Jones is going to need is a good offensive line to open up some space for him. So that may be a problem. Jake: And and Chad total noodle arm or average quarterback who didn't get us into the end play and win in the playoffs Justin: I think I don't know it kind of goes back to the offensive line again I think if he has the time He can make some good throws, but when he gets rushed It's it can be pretty brutal at times So I think it's really it's all gonna come down to that offensive line as far as your whole offense Jake: Well, if it comes down to our offensive line, then we have a rookie starting there who didn't even play the position in college.
01 Jake: I think we're in deep trouble. Coach him up. Coach him up. He's got a week to get ready. Come on now. Oh, you did predict last week in the last week's podcast, Justin. I'm going to call you out on this. You did say that the Jets would go out and get a guard. I thought they would. Yeah. it. Yeah, no one got scrap heaped. A lot of guys got cut this week and obviously nobody appealed to us. So, okay, let's just talk a little bit about the game. So, we got an actual game coming up here on Sunday. It's the opening season. It's awesome. We can't wait to have, you know, to come to the Patriots, come on down. Of course, actually both Justin and I are going. Oh, yeah. My brother's coming down from Massachusetts, that's right, my entire family is against me, my wife's a Dolphin fan, and my brother's are Patriots fans. But a little bit like, I mean, do you think this is going to be, what do you think? First of all, give us a prediction and then kind of back it up with some thoughts. Justin: Wow, I hadn't even thought of a prediction score really. So I'm going to go... Something like 28 to 17 Patriots. Jake: Okay, alright. So we're going to score two touchdowns? Man, that's asking a lot. Justin: Yeah, maybe. I don't know. You got Justin Miller returning kicks. Is he back already? I haven't heard about his injury. Is he going to be back there returning? Jake: I don't think he will be and I haven't heard I haven't heard either cuz again, you know man genius from that Bello check Yeah, exactly I don't really want to get into that but I I happen to think that that's more of a system thing and I think we could Put any number of guys back there and have them run it back to the 40 almost every. Yeah, I think so Because they break it through. Yeah, I think this kid's stuck He could probably run behind that that line that they create and then I mean I think that it probably isn't just Miller. Miller's very good at it, don't get me wrong, but I think it's more of a system thing. Justin: Well, who was the returner before him? Jake: I remember he returned before him, he was pretty good, and then we had Martin, Chad Martin, who returned, he was really good. You throw a guy back there who can run pretty fast. Oh yeah. It was Santana Moss doing some returning for a while. It's a fun returning. He was pretty good at that. Yeah. All right, well, come on. Justin, what do you think? Talk a little bit about the game, what he feels coming up, what you're going to see in the Patriots game and the Sunday. You want to hear my prediction on this game now or wait for our picks later? I want to hear it. I want to hear it right now. I want to hear it right now. Oh, I have a slated for a win in the opening day at home against the Pats coming back off the loss from last year with the Pats dinged up. On defense, I think they're vulnerable in the first game of the season I want to say we're gonna score 24 points and they're gonna score 10 Wow, you're gonna limit Brady the yeah, he hasn't even played with any of those guys yet
01 Jake: If this is when they're vulnerable, I can remember back when they went 14 and 2 and I was up at school in Buffalo and everyone was going nuts because they beat them like 30 and nothing and This is just the time when you can get them I mean, they're gonna have a great season I think but we can get them in week one. Oh I agree. I think this is the this is a good shot to have him have back at our house to have him home and have them fresh. You know, this is a basically, well, not a new team, but a team that's got some new players and might not be gelling. You don't want to hit the Patriots at the end of the year. You want to hit them beginning of the year. The problem with the Jets this year is we're going to hit them probably twice. Well, we definitely hit them twice, but then we're probably, you know, if we do well and we get where we want to be, a nine, seven, a 10 and six, we'll be right back there playing them in Foxborough again. It will be a tough game, but who knows what will happen at that point. I guess that's it for Jeremy. Thanks for dropping by. If you have any other thoughts or comments you want to throw in there to the rest of the world that are listening. Justin: I can't really think of any other thoughts really. I heard rumor today that the Jets had Caldwell in for a visit though. I don't know if you guys have heard that yet or not. Jake: Yeah, we just want your playbook buddy. We'll cut it after. Yeah, that's probably it. Justin: I'll pay you for it until they sign the contract. Jake: We'll pay him for week one to get the playbook. He needs the money. I do think he's probably taken a real hard stare at that point in the off season. Okay, that's my bet. Caldwell has big eyes, Joe. I was trying to figure out how we were going to get that in there. I was working on it as you were saying it. I was working on it. Well, you know, hang in there and see. Are you going to be watching from up there, obviously? You're not coming down to the game. Justin: Oh, no. I won't make it for the game. I got Sunday ticket, though, so I'll be sitting on my couch watching. Jake: Very good. Very good. Well, I hope for you that you have a lot of beer and a lot of other things that keep you distracted for that game. Well, it's Trump. The Patriots, 402. I don't know about that. Thanks Jeremy for stopping by. Thanks guys. Thanks Jeremy. Bye. Welcome to Jet Kingdom podcast episode number three. I have always on the other side of the mic from me. That's me. Justin. Justin, say hi to the people. Hello people. We actually have listeners. I have been watching the Feedburner stats and there are subscribers to our podcast. So don't think that... Yes, there are. Email us. Email us. Don't just think you're hanging out there by yourself. How long were you to email us? There are other people. It's podcast at JetKingdom.com or podcasts with an S. at JetKingdom.com. Both work. For the spelling impaired. It's only because I said one and then I posted the other, so I didn't now have two things. The other ones both work. And that's what you can do. You just throw them on the server and they both work. So let's start off with a traditional cheers.
01 Jake: Cheers. And what are you drinking tonight? I have. Summer is not over. I have a Corona. Oh man, see, I leave you behind because I've been drinking my mineral lights and I've now gone on to the victory which is for the Jets victory this Sunday. It's the golden monkey. The victory golden monkey. Not to be confused with the golden shower. Not at all to be confused with the golden shower. And it really helps me drink a yellow-colored liquid right after you've made a urine reference. I try. Alright, so let's get to some Jets news. Let's talk a little bit about the Eagles game from last week. It is sort of the also ran for the preseason. you didn't want to talk about it so I'll give you my... In true tradition I didn't watch. That's good. You're setting a tradition of not watching the game. I didn't watch last week, I didn't watch the week before. Preseason, I'll be there this week. Yeah, I think the thing that... Again, it's so hard to look. I think the one thing I'll take away and one thing we'll talk about, because we have a long podcast this week, or a lot of stuff to talk about, I will say that Jacob Bender actually looked better. He looked better. That's good to hear. He was against second stringers, but he did look better. A couple times he pancaked some guys, and I thought that was very, very good. Other than that, it was, you know, a lot of Kellen Clemens and Brad Smith. And again, it's just hard to get a judge of are these, are they really doing well, Or are they doing well because they're playing with guys who? probably want to make the team out his brad smith look when he played quarterback he looked okay i thought i think he suffers from and i'm gonna say this process the next hundred podcast uh... since the order michael vick talk it's it's it's over but uh... he looked like one of the quarterbacks who have who's a running quarterback who has speed and agility, but when he comes back in the pocket, he has that triple decision. You know, it's not only that I've got to look for all my receivers, I've not only got to decide whether I should throw it away, but I'll also decide whether I should run for it. And so he ran for it, and yeah, he's got speed and he can make some moves, but I think, And my feeling on running quarterbacks or those types of quarterbacks is that, because they have that third element to their decision making, it will slow down their progression as a real passer because they'll always be coming back and then looking around but then in the back of the mind always thinking, well, I'm not just looking at my receivers, I'm also looking at lanes to run. And you know, Chad doesn't look for lanes to run. When he steps back, he's looking at his receivers, and then he's thinking of dumping off. You don't want Chad's for lanes to run. Exactly. And maybe if the entire highway opens up in front of him, he might stumble along for five or six yards and then fall down. But basically, he is not trying to look for that. So Brad Smith, I thought he did a great job, but I just thought that was one of the things
03 Jake: I think he looked like. He wanted to use having a decision point in his head, should I run or not? So that'll stay away from the game. Other than that, last game basically no one plays and then also ran game of the season. You can't do away with it because if you did away with that then the third game would become that game. So whatever it is, at least I didn't have to go to it. because it was in the Eagles. I think it went two years ago when it was here at the Jets. You know what bothers me? Speaking of the Eagles, the fact that we have to play them again this year when it counts and after the game we cut one of our starting linemen, Kimo van Aalhofen, and they immediately signed him up. Yeah, it didn't work for the Titans last year. When we cut Why Kevin why yeah, but why why played under? Hermanator he never played under man genie. So I mean that that really isn't the same team at all I mean, that's true that all often goes over there with one year's understanding of man genies up defense Which isn't you know, not an immense knowledge, but he was a starter. So he will be able to explain in some way our defensive strategy. Yeah, I guess. Just hate that. We do it of course the Patriots every time we get a chance. Oh yeah, of course, that they do it to us. It evens out. Which we can discuss with Jeremy later, or we already have. Whether podcast time, it's very strange, hard to understand. But anyway, editing stuff, very sophisticated. Any other cuts that you Thought notable Well, not really, just Kimo. Nothing else really out of the blue or unexpected. Hey, Kimo was, I think, a big cut. I mean, as a player, I think he, whatever, he's kind of average. Just a role player, average guy, probably paying him too much, so it probably made sense from that perspective. But it just bothers me that he immediately got signed by a team right off the bat and is going to a team that we're playing this year. So that just bothers me. Yeah, I totally agree. I will say when he came from the Steelers and after the Super Bowl win, which kind of reminds me of Thomas Jones, except for... I guess Chicago didn't win, but it was really exciting. You know, this guy and he was so, he was a big player and a big name and here he was coming to jazz and, and, you know, he ended up being so average. Yeah. He ended up being average. And you, I, you know, is it the after Superbowl trophy ring thing that you, maybe it's just that he was surrounded by more talent in Pittsburgh and was in a system that worked better for him. I mean, if we'd only got to play Carson Palmer, then he actually would have had some about regression, right? He might have would have at least spooked him a little bit.
06 Jake: That's a mean joke. That's my second mean joke of the night. It must be the Golden Monkey victory ale. Zing! Yeah. So let's go on to our picks, because this is the big thing for this year. Let's do picks. We should play music behind the picks. Yeah, we'll get our production group right on that. Let's do our picks for the year. I think every week we should probably do... picks we should you know jet Kingdom I read a Piece on jet Kingdom every week called the throne picks where I do pick the the AFC East and then one other game So and out and I just wrote the one for the 2007 Jads and AFC so let's go over that and then you can give me your picks But then on a weekly basis we should also just pick out the next couple games, either the Jett game obviously or we'll pick out the Biffle game or the Bill game or the Patriot game and just say what we think is going to happen. So what we're going to do is we're going to go down the predictions for the season. We're going to go get in by game. You know what's going to happen? What? During the season. I'm gonna pick the Jack game before the Jack game, and they're gonna be like 16 and 0 in my picks. I'm never gonna pick them to lose right before a game. Yeah, that's because we're Ultimate Homers. We should name this the Ultimate Homer podcast. That's true. Although, since I have written down that they will lose seven games this year, I at least have to come back to that. So... So let's break it down right now. Let's go game by game. First, give me, since I just let it out of the bag, give me your season total right now. What are the Jets going to do in 2007? 10 and 6. 10 and 6. So you're taking the hard line of saying, they're basically going to do exactly what they did last year. They're going to do exactly what they did last year against the more difficult schedule. OK. All right. All right. So I hold this team. And they're still going to make the playoffs. Well, it takes you better make the playoffs. Well, they are. Yeah, okay, good. They're gonna make the wildcard and they're gonna play the Patriots? They're gonna make the wildcard and play whoever they play. I don't know, I can't predict that. So let's do week by week now. I said 9 and 7. I would admit, and I even wrote online this week, I said, you know, I originally had... I originally had the M10.6. I really did. I had written them down for M10.6 since back in by the draft. I just thought this is a team that hasn't lost a lot. But watching that offensive line in the playoffs, those playoffs that you don't watch... Um... You mean preseason. Yeah, I mean preseason. Not to be confused with the playoffs, which everyone watches. Oh, sorry. Yes, the preseason. victory ale Victory I will say that I knocked them down. I knocked them down a game I took a I took a game away from my beloved jets. Let's go. Let's go week by week
01 Jake: Let's see where you took it week one Patriots Well, we both have them as as you just heard with Jeremy. We both have a win Okay We have a win for the Patriots. I agree. I think this is a good time to take on the Patriots when they are just getting started, because this is the time when I think they're weakest, and we just talked about that. Or either we'll talk about that or have just talked about that. I wonder if we did just talk about it. Stay tuned or rewind. Either way. Raven second week week two I have them losing this game. It's the Ravens home opener and They have the ultimate jet killer at running back in Will's McGee He and I just think that our old line is gonna be a little intimidated During week two and we'll probably lose we probably will have a hard time on offense so just recapping they're not gonna have a hard time on and with the Patriots but they're gonna have a hard time in the Ravens. Yeah I think so. Okay. They know that they know the Pats better than they know the Ravens. Plus it's the Ravens home opener. I do agree. I think the Ravens their T-Vents is just too good and you know primarily because I'll be in San Francisco watching the game from a bar. I think they'll lose because the last time I was in a way watching a game from a bar was the game against Jacksonville last year. Yeah, so I forgot about that game. I blocked it out of my head. Yeah, I tried to block it out I was watching it with my brother. I really did. I don't even remember the game. I blocked it right out Yeah, I just remember them getting sacked over and over and over again on a like nine-inch screen in somewhere in Salem, Massachusetts Literally, there could have been hellfire and brimstone at the game or at the place. I was watching it Surrounded by Pats fans in Massachusetts watching the Jets on this tiny little screen no sound Get destroyed. Anywho, week three take on three dolphins Miami dolphins at home I should play their song go for it. That's a victory in my book at home. That's a victory Yeah, Trent Green comes out. Do you think Trent Green is still playing? Yeah, Trent Green is their starter all season. They got nothing else. Well, he's a starter all season if he doesn't get hurt. No, he won't get hurt. He'll be all right. Okay, well, all right. Just as long as you're saying that. All right, well, I believe it. I think he'll be all right. Okay. You know... I just don't think they're that good, to be honest. I think we're going to beat them at home, for certain. Yeah, the dolphins usually, now again, this is under a lot of their coaches. They usually start strong and poorly. So this would be a game that they would lose, or they would win normally, but I still think, too many questions on an offensive line. too many questions on who they're throwing the ball to. What, Chris Chambers, that's it, that's all we got to throw the ball to. I think one of our many corners can cover him. I don't see them winning this one at home. My wife will be there, and you'll be there too.
02 Jake: And I think they will lose. Yeah, that'll be a fun, actually. Dolphins will lose. That'll be a fun one for. Alright. many reasons. Yeah, so we can talk about that in another podcast. All right. We'll get Teaser. Week four. Stay tuned for the Dolphins game. Teaser. Week four. Week four. We're going to Buffalo. We're gonna lose. Ah, that's for some controversy. Yeah, I think that first road game against the Bills. I just for some reason I just don't see us winning that game against the Bills on the road. I see us coming back later on in the season and beating the Bills at home but I just for some reason this year I don't see us winning that one on the road. Yeah I'll flip flop with you because I think we're going to do what we did last year which is win on the road and lose at home. So I think we're going to win this one at home. win this one away. Again, I'm not the biggest... Lose to the Bills at home? Yeah, I think we will later in the season. I don't think so. Yeah, it happens. We'll see, but I don't think JP Lostman is the greatest thing, but sometimes... Anyway, I think up there we'll do well, the team will be pumped to do well. Then we come back and we play the gents, the Giants. On the road. On the road at home. On the road at home, I cannot bring myself to say anything but we will beat the Giants. First of all, that's not even a home repic, I think the Giants are awful. They lost their entire offense. They lost Tiki, obviously. That's basically everything for them. He sets up pretty much everything for them. He's gone. You know, Amani Tumor gets hurt every year now. He's pretty old. Plaxko, I don't think he's caught a thousand yards for them since he's been here. As good as he may seem. He's not very good. And Eli, I don't know about Eli. I was... I think this is going to be a big season for Eli because it seems like a do or die year. I think he's going to go down. I will say that I don't think it's a do or die for Eli only because the head coach won't be around next year. He's the worst. Is he not the worst coach in the league? I don't know. I just didn't like that he came in like all tough guy but then it turned out that, you know. that everybody revolted. So it's like, you're tough, you should keep a control. Doesn't seem like it's kept a control. But I do think that Eli's got a second life in whatever codes they get the year after, which rumors of Bill Belichick and Kauer, but whatever. I think Eli gets a second chance in another year. So this year, I think he'll probably be pretty much average. I don't think they'll get the playoffs. But anyway, I think we win this game. So let's go to the Eagles game, McNabb. So wait, what do you have us at right now?
00 Jake: I have us at 4 and 1 at this point. I have us at 3 and 2. That's correct. So now we go to the Eagles. Eagles at home, I have us losing. Me too. Why? Down to 3-3. You know what? I just don't like the matchup. uh... and i think make now bond or ski now i just think it i think uh... make now is to dynamic for us uh... honestly i think he's just if he if he's on the field asterisk if uh... if that's on the field uh... we're losing between him and westbrook they can cut you up every which way and I honestly there that's the kind game I just see us getting beaten right at the start and just one of those please forget me games I just don't see it beating them I totally agree I'm Bengals next game on the road we're bouncing back from that Eagles game and we're gonna beat the Bengals oof, yeah, that's, I think this is where we get the difference, the one point difference between the two of us. I say it's a loss, I think that you go on the road against the Bengals with Palmer and his weapons, I don't think you beat him. I don't think, if it comes to a shootout between Palmer and us, we're not gonna win that game. But it doesn't have to be a shootout. Yeah, it's gonna be a shootout and we're not gonna win that game. Oh. But I think that we can control. The the pace of the game a little bit better than we used to be able to especially with Thomas Jones That's true. That's true. And again when it comes time to actually pick that game. I will pick the just to win Looking at it. I'm saying Bengals loss. Okay, and it goes lost. So now we're home We're back home against the Bills and I have us winning this this is Have us actually on coming into a little winning streak here. It looks like you like us to lose this game I do I do I want us to lose this no I don't want to see don't want us to lose this game I'm saying I think we will lose this so you have us on a three game losing streak I do I think this is a three day three game losing streak. That's not gonna wow that's gonna be a depressing month The jet Kingdom will be up in arms Wait, that was a plug. Yeah. Yeah, I think I think that will be bad again This is what I'm predicting right now looking at the season. I think we'll lose that game That could be the one I think that well, I'm sure I think which one I thought that I flip-flopped on I flip-flopped on the Eagles game. I always thought we'd split with the Bills I basically thought we'd split with the Bills split with the Patriots and dominate the Dolls So let's move on I have us, you know, like I said, the start of a winning streak here where you think we're gonna lose some significant difference there I think we're gonna come home and beat the Redskins It's possible because I've watched the preseason Wow, that's true I think we're gonna come home and beat the Redskins I think Joe Gibbs is beyond his years
04 Jake: the young genius is going to teach him a thing or two. And we are going to knock the crap out of Santa and Moss. Do you think they're going to match up Revus on him? You know what, I don't even think he's much of a weapon at this point in his career. Wow, he's still a weapon. I still think we win the game though. Winning against the Redskins. I'm actually bringing one of my Redskins friends to the game. So that should be interesting. Interesting one. Fun for you. Yeah, fun for me. She's not going to have a good time. Steelers, next. One of those games that again, I don't think we match up very well with this team. I have us losing at home, ending our three game winning streak. Yeah, I have us losing because Parker, as I put, Parker runs amok. If we can't stop the run, then we can't stop the Parker. It doesn't matter if Ben Roethlisberger gets another car accident or not, he's going to be able to throw at least 10 passes he needs to win that game. Yeah, I think we lose that game. Then we head off on Thanksgiving, which I don't think the Jets have played in Thanksgiving game for a long time. I haven't said at 6 and 4 at the moment by the way. At this point I am at... Going into Thanksgiving week 6 and 4. I think I'm 5 and 5. 5 and 5. That's interesting because you had us at 4 and 1. And now you have five and five. No, I think I had a set. You had a set. Four and one. Now you have five and five, so you like them to lose a bunch of games here. Yeah, no, there's three in a row. Eagles, Bengals, Bills, All-Sins. It's a three game losing streak. So what do you think on this Thanksgiving? You're gonna eat some turkey and watch the game. But what's going on? We have to know in our household, because we are a football household, that we actually moved Thanksgiving to be around... where the game isn't. So I think it was last year that the Dolphins played on Thanksgiving? I don't want to call. It was either last year or the year before. But we have to move Thanksgiving around because clearly football is the most important thing. We don't want to be eating or doing something else while that game is on. So this year we've already put in the request that I think Thanksgiving has to be late this year because it's an early game. Oh it's a four o'clock. It's a four o' five game I believe. Really? Yeah, okay. Is that what your studies show you? My studies? My very, very... yeah, it's a 415 game. Okay, then we'll be having an early Thanksgiving. Uh, it's giving brunch? Mimosas and turkey. Nice. Yeah, we'll be good. So what do you think? the jest will go this way. Oh no way. Here's the reason. They're going to win this. You're coming off a terrible loss against the Steelers. Yeah. What's your point? And you have to go on the road. So what? To a short week. It's a layup for a bad game. It's a layup. It's just like everything you want
05 Jake: to have happen in a bad game is going to happen. And the excuse monster is going to be out there. They're going to say, oh, short week. Thanksgiving, holiday, too much Thanksgiving, the turducken wasn't well done, whatever. So you see them winning this game. I don't think the Cowboys are any good. And then after this game, oh wow, oof, really? Yeah. They've got two running backs that are good. So what? Their defense is good. And they've got a... quarterback who could turn out to be really good or really crappy? Oh well, that's not a good, you know, who wants to bet on that? Really good or really not very good? I mean, I just don't think they're that good. They're not the same team. They're not the same head coach. I mean, ourselves I think brought a lot of that. But he leaves teams well off. He leaves teams that are pretty good the next year. So I don't see this as a team falling off that much. You know, Wade, is Wade Phillips? Yeah, he's not a very good head coach. Wade Smith? Wade Phillips? Yeah, Wade Phillips. He, ah, yeah, you're right. He's not. He played for the, he was head coach of the Bills. Yep, got fired. But I still think he can handle, he can just put together the Parcels package and keep a game going. Anyway, I think we lose that game. Then we head down to Dolphins. I fly down to Dolphins with the wife and my poor, poor wife like she did last year while she sat in the rain with, I won't go into all her details, but she sat in the rain pretty sick as a dog watching that game. I think she's gonna watch another loss. I think she's gonna have to watch her team get beat down and Swept for the second season in a row. Yeah, I can't ever Predict us losing to the Dolphins ever so predict. Yeah three I remember where I was last season while you were sitting there in the rain. I was sitting there in the Caribbean Yeah, you were floating on a big cruise ship watching on a you know, 100-foot screen out on the 14th deck that's very nice. I think we exchanged some texts, as I remember. Oh no, maybe you didn't even have texts. No, I think I got them when I got home. Delayed texts. I won't go into the day that I flew out on Christmas morning, dropped off our kid, flew down to Miami, and the heck that... or the hell, this is an explicit podcast, the hell that ensued but It was a long and hard journey for a at least a win. It was worth Leon's run there at the end of that game was That's that's highlight. That's that's worth the purchasing the iTunes package. But anyway, that's another conversation Browns. We head down to the Browns. No, they had to us. Sorry They had us and we're gonna kick there. Is this explicit? We're gonna kick their fucking ass Yeah, this is what this is a big victory because last year they stole one from us Yeah, I totally agree I as I put it in the in the right up this year
02 Jake: I said pay back for last year and we meet the Brady we can beat Yeah, I don't think they're any good so we'll probably pound them at home especially I'm sure we'll be pretty fired up especially how that season ended or how that game ended last season And I think this will be looking towards the postseason at this point. The team will be fired up. I think this will be a good game. It's going to be a big one. It's going to be a big one. And I'm hoping we can head up against someone like Brady and hopefully he doesn't just light us up. But I think this is when the team really comes together. if it's a good man genie team if it's a bell check If it's a team that is a better team in December, then it will be in September. That's why I have some of those losses in the middle there and towards the end I think we start to win. Then we head to the Patriots late in the season, which is not when you want to see them. what do you think happens there? I think we cannot sweep the Pats in the regular season, so I think we're gonna probably lose on the road late in the season to the Pats. They're gonna probably actually clinch the division during that game. Oh, nice prediction. You gotta write that one down. So they think they clinch the division with a little win over us. Yeah. That's gonna clinch the division for the Pats right there. I hope it doesn't, but I think that'll probably happen right there. Nice. And I totally agree. I think to win two games against the Patriots is too much to ask, so you have to look at your season and you say, I'm a jet homer, I feel like we can win one maybe. Which one can we win? Yeah, exactly. The early one, because maybe... And we got some breaks with the Harrison and Seymour. I mean, we got... two huge breaks maybe with Randy Moss not practicing a lot or being a piece and we got me three big breaks I think so okay so then after the Patriots they go on to play the Tennessee Titans road on the road where do you see this game coming out as a loss loss? yes yes yes unfortunately I I don't like the prospect of having to face this kid uh young alright he's again too dynamic kinda like macnab too dynamic and hurts the jazz is what you're saying yeah i think so i say the i say the jets uh... suggest when this one i think i still think young is going to be in the man curse at this point when we be on will be on the sidelines whoever's playing for the for the taines won't be young and and open the we have playoffs this point uh... so i'd i'd i'd see just just winning this game then they come back home home home on the range home for herm returns. The return of herm, the Chiefs come to town, last game of the season, could be a huge, huge, huge game to get the Jets into the playoffs.
02 Jake: Where do you see it going? Um, I think this is one of those games that's more of the... You know, it's a big game more for the fact that if we win, we're in. not herma coming back I'd like to forget about that and say that a victory is gonna go in the books okay victory good ten and six ten and six ends the season I say we win this game of course I'm putting still us nine and seven this is a you know and talking about the the mythical 370 which is the number of carries that a running back can handle in one year and any any running back in the history NFL fell. or since they recorded these kind of statistics, who went over 370, the next year they just started to fall apart. They either weren't, they were half as what they, you know, as good as they were the year before, or they got hurt. So I think Larry- How about guys like that who like to sit out the first four weeks? I think Larry Johnson will be not playing for the Chiefs at that point. I mean, I don't wish injury upon anybody, but I just don't think he'll be winning So that end five season with nine and seven you're at ten and six. Let's go to the I have them in but you oh Yeah, yeah, they're in in it. I think so. Yeah wild card wild card Well, it all depends on what happens about your AFC East or the AFC and we'll see what happens But yeah, I say nine and ten get some wild card. We've done that a couple times In fact, we've done it with Herm, I think twice. We got it with 9-7. Anywho, back to other kingdoms. So let's talk about what you see happening with the Patriots, the Bills, and the Dolphins. I'm going to assume that you think the Patriots are going to lead the division. So what do you give them for wins for the year? Good assumption. 13 wins. 13 wins, 3 losses for the year. That's high, man. That's even better than they did last year. So you're saying they're a better team than they were. Even though they have to play, some of the teams we have to play, the Baltimore's, the Phillies, the Cowboys. They're better than all of them. Okay, I'm going to put them in 11-5. I think they'll take a little step back, but you know, 11-5 winning division is that step back, probably not for them. We still have to meet up with them, hopefully in the playoffs, and this year, I'm predicting it now, but this year we win. Were they 12-4 with no receivers? They were. Yeah, now I think they could gain a game. Really? Yeah. Yeah, but on game No receivers, but now they have you know is Maroney gonna last throughout the season now being the only back back there is Randy Moss gonna be cancer and if Daunte saw worth doesn't work out or doesn't isn't the player that he used to be Is he really you know it are they left with no receivers again again their defense a lot of their defense is getting towards the end of their careers and you know will they make it to the season so I said this is step back at 11-5 we both have the jets
02 Jake: basically in the second position there 9-7 or 10-6 where do you put the next team? I think the tough ones edge out the middles. Finn's at 6 and 10. Finn's at 6 and 10. I put the dolphins at 7 and 9. I gave them a game of one more game. I almost had them at 8 and 8 there for a while but I went to the wife and I said, hey what do you think? And she said 7 and 9. I like the coach. I just don't like the talent. I'm not sure I like the coach yet. A lot to be proven yet. just stepping off you know using lt is your as your as your point score and then come into a game we don't have an lt and apparently marnie browns in the doghouse already i i i don't i don't see it i don't see them having winning season or even get into five hundred but i think they could uh... they can do seven nine and where do you put the bills and you put them they went over the souther dwellers i'd love to say one in fifteen but i can't uh... with a job and a lot of them five eleven five eleven since they take the jp lost in equals five and eleven do you think that so k i'm gonna take a step beyond words and this is a pre pre pre prediction two thousand and eight draft they go for quarterback Or do they stick with lots of them? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh out, I don't know. Okay. That's hard to say. That's good. It's a podcast. Give it a shot. Uhhhhhhh, no. Please stay with them. Stay with a little bit. Oh, I mean, if they go like, you know, 3 and 13, then they have the first pick overall then. Sure. Yeah, I don't- I have them at 5 and 11, so I think that- stay put with the kid i see the bills going to eight eight i see them uh... breaking a five hundred season again i can the playoffs on the playoffs in many many many years uh... don't think it's certainly not in this decade but i think that the little bit better think jp will do a little bit better still think they're not gonna i still think he's not the answer more the problem rookie running back is good but usually they tail off towards him the middle of the season Which means that we'll lose some games in there, so I don't see it happening. Do you have a Super Bowl pick, by the way? Yeah, we do have a Super Bowl pick. So, I'm going to go crazy. This is the if the Jets aren't in the Super Bowl pick. Okay. Because the Super Bowl pick, of course, would be Jets 320, whatever team playing them for. the And we haven't talked about this, so it could be shocking. One of them is not shocking. I do think the Colts make it back. I think they make it back, but I think they end up playing someone who was just
01 Jake: there a couple years ago. I think they end up playing Seattle. I think the Seattle Seahawks come back and play in the Super Bowl. You know, they've got- Who wins? I have to pick a winner? Yeah. Seattle 31. one. You don't need a score. No, not that. Well, you maybe go for a win. So that's it. That's my crazy off the topic. If I get it, then I'm a genius for the next 10 years. If I miss it, then I'm Peter King from last year picking the Dolphins win. Maybe it wasn't Peter King, but it was definitely Sports Illustrated. So go. Who do you think? I sadly am calling for a repeat of Super Bowl 36, which put the Pats versus the Rams of St. Louis. Rams? Rams of St. Louis. The Pats will be victorious once again. You almost say that like you're a bit of a Pats fan. I just don't let you know. Oh, I just, you know... Are you a Brady lover? No, I just think that, you know, if someone's gonna win the Super Bowl, it may as well be someone from artificial. I actually kind of take some pride in that. Yeah, that's what I was just- Take some pride in losing to the Super Bowl winner every year. Hahahaha that's a tough one always is you know deal room for more because they beat you usually get in the uh... uh... i think everything from the first year as kite yeah okay the patriots the back of some simple first time but now it's just like com on or that was the reason what the winds like become weaker the next year but that doesn't seem to work out It's all very bad. Let's just talk about, so that's our predictions, that's our Super Bowl predictions, that's our AFC East predictions, that's our predictions for the Jets season, that's a lot of predictions for this podcast which is now very long. Um, little bit of stuff on Jet Kingdom website which has got a new logo, a little housekeeping as you were, we got a new logo, JetKingdom.com. uh... which is uh... just as i told me it's to be a large it's a lot of our china charge it's you know it's it's it's it's it's always biggest how much is spent for it and there uh... the afc east at two thousand said two thousand seven jet kingdom thrown pics are up there and also be the weekly thrown pics where uh... pic uh... uh... the afc schemes and plus one other team and see how we did from the week before. I will tell you from last year, I predicted the Patriots to go 10-6, they went 12-4. I predicted the Jets to do 9-7, they went 10-6. I predicted the Dolphins to be 8-8, they went 6-10. I predicted the Bills to go 6-10, they went 7-9. So my predictions weren't that far off last year, off by a mere 6 wins for the entire AFC East. We'll see how we do at the end of this year. Hopefully, we're also giddy celebrating Super Bowl that we can't even talk about it.
