17 Jake: This is the Jet King Podcast, episode number 7 for October 3rd, 2007. Justin: Birthday boy. Jake: Welcome to the Jet Kingdom Podcast. I think we're on episode 7. I'm Jake. This is Justin over here on the other side of the Digital Isle. Justin: Hi Justin, how are you? Jake: I'm doing alright. I hijacked your line. I just want to say first of all, this is the Jet Kingdom Podcast about the All Things Jet, the AFC East, and anything else. NFL related and I'd like to give a special shout out today to the birthday boy, a birthday boy across the aisle. It's Justin's birthday. Congratulations. Yeah welcome welcome to the podcast. You're yet another year older. At least it say we'll see if you're any wiser. Lucky number seven, so we'll see how we can do it. Let's get right into the show because we have a lot to talk about of course Seemingly we get into these shows and only a few shows that we had to be Excited about what was going on and this is not one of those shows So we let's talk a little bit about the Jets versus build game and where that went how that went I I understand you have a little recap and why don't you give it to us? I actually took notes during the game. Justin: Good, and you hit the mute button so... I did. Okay. Jake: So go ahead, tell us... I should take a minute to figure out how to not hit the mute button. Yes. Justin: The cough button. That's good. You go. So, I hope you have a great day, and I'll see you next time. Jake: Alright. Anyway, so this is my favorite game of the whole year. I love this game. I, as we mentioned, I went to school in or around Buffalo, about 45 minutes outside of Buffalo. And I used to go to this game. I went to this game. I think... Four or five times up in Buffalo and I saw the Jets win two or three of those games and it was great Anyway, this was this was a major bummer because I hate losing to them. I hate it I hate it. I know too many people from up there. It just it just eats at me
03 Jake: start to think about the fact that he had a couple of floaters out there in the first half, which is, you know, and then a couple of floaters in the second half, one of which, the last of which was picked off and pretty much prevented us from tying the game. Well, let's go back and let's talk about the game, okay? So this is a game in Buffalo, New York Jazz vs. Buffalo, Divisional Rivals. This is usually a big game, and let's just say, Do that even no matter how bad the bills are the bills can win a divisional game They've won against the Patriots when they were the horse game worst team in the league The Jets can win against the Dolphins when they're the best or vice versa So let's just throw everything out with wins loses wins losses and things like that just hate Let's go. It's they're so bad. But look, I mean we made a rookie starter first time ever starting look like a pro bowler like he's the next Tom Brady here comes the next Tom Brady true but look at this look at the score so it was 0-0 to the entire first half right at the end of the half the Jets had a chance to do something okay so this is not like this was not that was all that was good that was a great two-minute drill I must say run kinda to perfection I mean by who? Well, Chad, I mean, it was one to sort of perfection because it wasn't... perfection is a touchdown. Now, the reason why I say it was sort of perfection is because he got us in position to score. To do what? Scoring is always good. Yes. And, he did what he did to his perfection, you know. Touchdown is a score. He added up to the to the kicker to make the score he got down there He did he did the fake spike the merino fake spike against the best play of the game It gets it down there He's all he does is dink and dunk and then what she's up five yards at a time five yards at a time Six yards swinger to Leon Washington four yards this way three yards that way seven yards over the middle I mean, it's very hard to score a touchdown when you're showing for five yards over the middle and there's less than two minutes on the clock. Okay, so he gets us down, it's down to I think two seconds again, something ridiculous, one second on the clock. Yeah, one second on a fake spike, which was gorgeous by the way. Perfectly run all the way down, lead arm man, the nuge, and nuge does what, Justin? What does he do? He missed it, he climbed. Okay, and how many points are awarded for kicking a field goal? Thank you. Free and how many points did we lose the game by we did not lose by those same three Oh, we lost game. I've really really cuz it looks like we lost by three points That's right three, but not those three so Okay, well you don't think about anyway go zero zero second half come out. They go up seven we go up seven
00 Jake: third fourth quarter They go up they put 10 points more we put seven points Here's here's why I don't agree because I thought about this, you know, you and I were chatting and texting back and forth Via the game and I know you said, you know, it's looking like it's time that you know, we have to get down to Figuring out what's going on with Chad and should we put in putting in Kellen Clemens? I'll say this, I thought about it and I was on there. During that game I was upset and then after the game I thought, okay, let me go back and look. And I opened up my, you know, NFL.com and I went to look at the game center and I'm looking at the stats and I'm like, okay, so the Jets put up 346 net yards. Okay, what the bills put up? Oh, 304. Oh, okay. Time possession, Jets, 2744. for. Time possession, bills 3216, oh that's pretty close. Total turnovers, jets two, total turnovers, bills two. Oh, this is looking weird. What did Chad do? 32 for 39, 290 yards, one TD, one interception. Two interceptions, what did Tran and others do? 22 for 28, 234, one TD, one interception. But here's the thing that's just starting to glare right in the face. Who's our number one running back on the team? . Thomas Jones What's his name? Thomas Jones? Yeah, he's number 20. Yes I believe that would be his number so the number one running back on your team if he doesn't get hurt Did he get hurt during the game? No, no, no, I get hurt. I don't think so. He played the entire game. Yes I believe he was in there in the fourth court Okay, we're the bills did we not talk about how the bills were the worst run defense in the in the league Talk about that. Okay. How many yards did Thomas Jones put up for the game? 35 yards. On attempts, which is less than 3 yards a carry. 35 yards. What team, what NFL quarterback, what anybody you know would win a game with their number one quarterback putting up 35 yards? Nobody. The answer is nobody. You could be Tom Brady, you could be Peyton Manning, you could be whatever. The reason those people are successful is because they have someone else to run the rock and they can take time off the clock and they can move down the field. Let's dig a little deeper into this. Is this a Thomas Jones problem or is this an offense in general problem? Now, members of the jury, I say it's Thomas Jones. Let's look into this a little bit further. Okay, we have an offensive line who We have two first round picks from last season on this offense line. I think so far. I think most would agree that Mangold has turned out to be the better of the two. Oh, yeah pro bowler so far. He's certainly I mean D brick Could almost be considered a bust he had two holding penalties against him in the second half of this game. Yeah, and he didn't seem to be able to to stay in front of of Show Bowl and it this is a recurring theme with him. I agree. I agree
06 Jake: But here's here's another thing of the offensive line offensive one how how many times is sacked did Did Chad get sacked Chad only got sacked once but that's because Chad is very good at getting rid of ball So now he's really good now. You want to get rid of the guy's good at looking really let me Let me continue with my analysis. Okay, so we have two rookies from last year So they're second year players, and then we have who is our starting left guard What's his name? Adrian Cork? Is it? I think so, yeah. Okay, so Adrian Clark is our starting left guard between two second year players. Yeah, that's awesome. Okay, and it's not like we have Pro Bowlers on the right side. I agree. So, I mean this this is not just a Thomas Jones problem. There's starts there and then you have a quarterback who cannot stretch the field. I agree. You have a quarterback that cannot move the defense off the line of scrimmage. He does not scare you. As a defense, are you going to worry about Chad Pennington throwing the ball for 30 yards on one play against you or Thomas Jones running for 30 on four plays? Justin: Well running for 30, neither. I'm just saying. Jake: What would you rather defend against? As an offense, you'd be much more concerned about Thomas Jones running the ball on you than you would be about Chad Pennington throwing the ball on you. It's obvious. They let Chad throw 39 times. But here's the thing. Here's the thing. Which one of those players is getting it done? Neither of them lost. No, that's the point. Justin: They lost. Jake: Either of them got... done they lose these games they lost that game because Chad is on an island it's it's sir Chad of Chad town because there's no one else with him your field goal kickers missing he's missing he's missing points you cannot have a field goal kicker I guess okay I know they're not have a running back who can't Freaking get out of the hole you can't win games that way so we can all look around and we can go oh Chad you You know you're doing it. You're not no Chad runs that game as well as I mean the stuff He does on the field is just brilliant. You know Thomas only got 12 attempts In a close game for running back to only get 12 attempts. That's not a whole lot of attempts I mean it's not like the offense was was is built around him right now No, because look where the other things, for all your chad, for chad, look what he's doing with Kachri. I know he's very talented. Yeah, and you get him the ball. Of course. So that's the point. That's what chad's supposed to do. Does chad get Kachri the ball? Did he win? Huh? I mean, the fact of the matter is... We didn't win. I agree. I mean, we, I don't think we need. That's not an argument. We need to, ah, we lost. All right. We don't need to point fingers. So it came down to a two-minute drill.
00 Jake: You know, it was total pressure. You can't move the ball. He was trying everything. They just knew where he was going to throw it, because he had to get it. I mean, those situations, when you're throwing it to the sidelines, because you have to throw it to the sidelines, because you have no time or timeouts. ... guess what the defense is going to do. They're going to sit on the sidelines. So that kind of stuff, where they pick off it at the end, is so common. You have every team that's trying to run that two minute drill, or not even two minutes, under two minute drill. That's what happens to them. That was a silly throw, though. He knows better. He should have thrown that away. Justin: There was no time. Do you see the time on the clock? It was like 20 seconds. Jake: Dude, but it's throwing the ball away. It was 20 seconds. OK, but they were on the 39 yards line. So then what? They didn't have to go very far. So then what? Your kicker's going to miss it again? Well, either way, he's going to have to attempt a long field goal. It was pathetic. May as well give him a shot at a 56-yarder instead of throwing the ball up for grabs. Yeah, I'm not happy with that. Let's just say, so here's the thing. You're obviously, this is the question that we're going to ask today on the podcast. Is it time to push the panic button? You say, and the panic button, I mean, it doesn't mean shake out chat. It doesn't mean... You know, Fireman Genie, but it means there's a serious fundamental problem with this game and with this game plan and with the players and it's time to do some serious shake up. And maybe that means taking out Chad and maybe that means putting in Kellen and maybe that means taking TJ and putting Leon back there and letting him handle the rock more often. I mean, I guess just the basic question, do you think it's time to say all, you know, all things are off? Now. We are one and three and this, if we don't turn it around immediately, we have to do something drastic. Or, on the other side, you say the game plan is sound, we just haven't executed as well as we could have and one bad hit of a crossbar and we're two and two. So what do you think? I'm saying, can I hit the panic button for half the team? No, no, no, no, gotta hit the panic button. Are you gonna hit the panic button or not? Make the decision birthday boy. If they go, if they, no, I'm not hitting the panic button. I'm 1 and 3. Alright, alright. At 1 and 4, if they lose to the Giants, then I'm gonna hit the panic button. Okay, I agree, I totally agree. I was hitting the panic button after that game. You know, as the clock ticked down, definitely panic button. I was like, really pissed off. So I was really, but the more I went back and looked at it, it just it just doesn't look like a game that we were dominated. It doesn't look like a game that our defense did poorly in. Yeah, they stopped the run for the first time. I'm just upset that a first year first. A rookie, pure rookie, first start ever was able to manufacture a winning drive against us. But you know what, here's the deal and you're going to have to get over this because that's going to show up. It was good. The worst part of that is he might never ever have another game like that in his life. Yeah, but it was against us. I know, but it does. But that guy, Trent Edwards, he might go this entire season. He might go for the rest of his life. I mean, JP might come back. And he might never have another game like that.
00 Jake: Oh, by the way, JP's not coming back. Oh, he's not? Oh, I'm just saying, no, this guy is better than JP Lawson. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, that's well, OK. Well, my feelings on JP Lawson. Yes, we do. I agree. But. Come on, one game, I wouldn't be... I don't even need to see another game. This guy looked better than JP Wallman. Hey, this isn't the Bill's kingdom, buddy. This is the Jet Kingdom. You and your Bill's going to team watching thing, you can just go back up there. I'm saying, not time to push the panic button. We are close, though. My hand is hovering. Like that stupid ad I kept seeing on top of the NFL. dot com with a painting and handing above the it's almost time i agree we lose another game and all bets are off we got a we got shaky up because we have a couple games here that are against winnable teams and that's where exactly we're going to go into now uh... we're going to get first is giants of the home team rivalry hometown rivalry uh... it's an away game quote air quotes uh... because the giants homes that means we're not going although we could go but I will I watched the game against them against the Eagles thinking, okay, so let me watch this game to see Sunday night and all that. Let me see how they're going to do and what this team is going to do against us. Well, if they do anything like they did to Donovan against us this season's over because they'll kill both of our quarterbacks within I don't know a quarter we can we could be looking at you know 2000 and uh whatever it was five all over again oh I've watched I I've watched every single giant game of this season so far I'm sorry yeah well I I live with a giant fan so um We watch the games. Yeah, and I have to tell you that that was the first time this season that their defense showed up I agree. There's been so bad. I think is more really they couldn't stop anybody their Cowboys put up like 45 points Or do you yeah? Yeah, I mean that's a lot We thought we gave up a lot to the Pats with the Pats are doing that to everybody and then looking at it looking At that game. I you know one of the things I noticed about Dominic man was he couldn't get out of his own way. Like he definitely thinks he has speed that he doesn't have. He's definitely still hurt. Well he just doesn't have the... maybe he's hurt, maybe not, but he doesn't have that speed. Like he thinks he can move away from that defender coming around the corner and that defender caught him every single time. That... He doesn't get what he can do. like his brain knows he can do something but it doesn't really know his knees not responding the way it used to his legs can't take it I don't think they scare me on offense because I think is Jacob still out it doesn't matter you know they can run the ball I doesn't really met they they have a ex-jet Practice squad guy Derek Ward as they're starting running back and he's doing work. He's he's running the ball very well They can move the ball on offense. I actually think they'll be able to run against us regardless
00 Jake: We've done pretty well against some runners in the last couple weeks. I'm not well, not Ronnie Brown, but Well, we did hold arch on Lynch. She 29 yards and a touchdown and Willis McGee he held under 100 so it's it's doable I don't know. I mean, I don't think Eli is the greatest thing since sliced bed, but I think them... I don't know. I don't know. I'm panked about this game because this game is... I don't want to say it's our season because that seems so melodramatic, but it almost is our season. You know, if we don't get this game right and get back on track and win a few, we're going into a hole. and there's This reminds me of the last time we played the Giants. I think, if I remember correctly, the last time we played the Giants was... Four years ago. He's a mess. Oh, four years ago. And it was the gear that Chad had injured himself in the preseason against the Titans. I think it was his first game back against the Giants. He came in for Vinny, because we were like 1-3 and 1-4. And he came in for Vinny. We were down by like two, three touchdowns. And he actually had a comeback, but came short in the end. uh... we lost and our season was kind of over from there so what do you think the keys for this for the jets are on this game against the giants what what do you think is the way that we can win this game because you know we're not going to put we're not tom brady we're not putting up thirty eight thirty four points we're not the baltimore raven lost you the ball and ravens are the baltimore ravens we're not whatever good defense of team there is now that can just totally shut down an offense. So what's the way that we can win this game? Give me a couple pointers. Okay, the Giants, you need to keep Shockey out of the game early. Okay. Because he's one of those guys that, if he gets involved early, he can have a big game, and he's very disruptive on, like, third down plays, like, third and seven, right? That's shacky territory. You want to keep him out of the game early. So you're saying a combination of David Harris, Jonathan Vilma, and Kerry Rose. Kerry Rose. Kerry Rose. He was like... was he nowhere in the Bills game? Where was he? He's always around the ball and he was just kind of... Not around yeah, I don't know he's usually always around this was one of his bad games this past week All right, so point number one to keep Shockey out of it What's another the second thing is you must not let osu human you're at and Michael Strahan Disrupt the offense. Yeah, I cannot allow those guys to do that I mean run some draw plays run some screenplays early and try and prevent them from just steamrolling down, you know, straight up the field. Yeah, I'm not so much worried about Strayhan, who really has been kind of, he's been quiet for the gym. Well, he's just rounding into shape now. He missed all of training. Yeah, that too. So I think it's the other guy, and he is gonna be lining up against
02 Jake: the D-Brick. I think this is a D-Brick. Which D-Brick do we get? Do we get the D-Brick against Jason Taylor, who shut him down? where we get the D-Brick who lets everybody go by like he's a crossing guard. Yeah, I'm worried about that matchup. You and yours is a pro bowler. He's a talent. Well, six sacks in one game. I know! That's crazy. He will be putting on some sort of thing. So I agree and I think the other thing is, I don't fear Eli, but he can throw the ball and he can move them down the field. So If we can get to him, which we haven't been able to get to any quadratic, I don't think we even touched Trent Edwards. Maybe we did once, but if we can get to him and and disrupt his game, I think that would be great. Well, the Giants offensive line is actually halfway decent. They're very good at run blocking, but they do commit a ton of penalties, right? So... Hopefully we'll get them into a lot of first and 20 kind of situations. And I really think the person we got to get in there, we got to get the ball to more often than not. Besides Kottree, which is the no-brainer, and besides Kohl's, which is the no-brainer, is Chris Baker, the touchdown maker. Get that man the ball. Get him the ball because he's the human fly trap. I mean, you just throw it near him and he's picking it up off his fingertips and he's pulling it in. Get him the ball. He's big. He could break a tackle or two. I want to see that. And if Nuge misses one, put in Graham and have him kick field goals because... Oh, shut up. Come on. I'm so sick of this kid, man. Oh, come on. Why? That's our game our game was lost by three points. I feel goal. He missed. It's not same three points It won't I don't need to see people in three points to me. There's a lot to look in there Yeah, but the game changes on on depending on what the score is Yeah What do you think what do you think the feeling of the bills would have been if we had done that drive and put away? The three point I don't know at the game would have been different. You can't say that We would say we would have had the upper hand we would have made maybe made them kind of work for a little bit more but instead they never know that i'm just saying okay so so let's go on since uh... we're both not feeling and extremely jettiful tonight at the home let's talk about you let's talk about some thrown pics again the article comes out on thursday which i'll make my official thrown pics for the a f c east but for tonight Alright, let's get a... Let's get some pics from you and I. Let's lay it on the line. I'm going to go. This is tough because there's somewhere deep down inside that I'm not feeling it. But I have to feel it because I'm a jet fan and so I... Man, this is tough. It's Jets by 2. Mm-hmm.
00 Jake: And it's... ... Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Come on. 17-13. Who? Jets. Jets! Come on. Jets. 1713 jets. 1713 jets? What are you saying? Well, obviously I'm picking the jets to win because we picked the jets to win. You don't have to! No, no, no, no, no, no, we picked the jets to win every week. Just like Chris Berman picks the bills every year. I'm going to pick the jets every week. We can be right sometimes if we do that. 23 13 23 13 so you're saying they will score one touchdown and two field goals Wow and no and don't miss a field goal no miss field well that's some bold predictions so why don't we okay so that's it for the game I got 17 13 and you said what I said 2313. 2313, 10 points. Okay. So let's go on to the other AFC East teams. No, because I don't have them up in front of me. I got them. Alright, lay them on here. I'm going to have to remember these now. Go for it. I'll write them down for you. Go ahead. Miami, hat. Houston This is do or die for Miami They win this game or their season is toast and they can just start firing people and put in John back to be their quarterback. I Don't know I thought they'd do it last week and I think they're gonna do it again I think the Miami Dolphins are gonna win a game at least one game this season I think they're really gonna get going and maybe give Matt Shobbs some problems. Let's go with... I don't know, I'm feeling generous to them. 31-20. Are you crazy? I am crazy. There's no way they're gonna win in Houston. They don't have their star wide receiver or the star running back. That's okay. Okay. Okay, that's all right. 31-20, I said it. What are you saying? I'm saying there's no way Miami scored 20 points. Uh, I'm gonna go... No, 31-20 Miami wins. 31. Yeah, there's no way Miami scored 31. There's no way they're scoring 20. Alright, alright, alright. 17-10, Houston. 1710 I'm- writing yours down now. Alright, what else? What else we got up there? We have, uh, Cleveland at New England. Cleveland at New England. Yeah! We got Romeo back in New England. He'll be, uh, videot, uh, videotaping on the side. I'm gonna say... In New England, God. If that team wanted New England, I'd-
00 Jake: Well, since they scored 38-38-34, I'm going to split the difference. I'm going to say the Patriots put up 37.5. I'm going to say the Patriots are 36. What do you have to do to score 36? It's tough, but you can do it. Well, I get to 20 and then, yeah, that's doable. 36. 20 36 20 36 20 yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, damn, New England is so good Yeah, I hope you're trying to jinx them They're so good. I wish we were doing I'm kicking you off this podcast immediately. Go ahead. What is it? I wish we cheated. I think Romeo's gonna go in there. Ugh. I think he has a clue. So it's gonna be close. Yeah. But I think New England's gonna win. I think they're gonna win. I think they're actually gonna Cleveland's gonna actually slow them down a little bit. I think it's gonna be 31-17. 31-17. Alright, what's the Buffalo game? I don't have that one. Hold on. Now I have to listen. You said you had it, man. I did. Oh, they're playing Monday Night. Oh, they're asking Monday Night. I'm gonna get a good night's sleep on Monday Night so I can tell you. Home against Alice. Alright, that's Dallas going up 41-13. 41-13. I don't think they're going to score that many points against Buffalo. Um, I think that this kid This kid Trent Edwards, this will be fun to watch him play Monday night. He is gonna shit the bed. If he reminds me of anybody, it's this kid Romo because he runs around and has a pretty good arm while he's running around. But I still think Dallas will be a little... It's Monday night! Buffalo's a pretty crazy place to play. Justin: You know Berman's gonna be... Wow. Jake: You know, I was just going to pick Dallas, but I think I'm going to flip that. I'm going to pick Buffalo. I think they're going to win 2017. 2017. That's, yeah, okay. That was a boring Monday night game. Alrighty, well that's our Jet Throne picks for the week. Let's talk about, I guess we could do Other Kingdoms, which is talking about what's going on in other places in the NFL. uh... you know we talked about the bills really talk about the dolphins a little bit in terms of how about how about dante back off yeah all right let's talk about that game i did get a chance to watch that game so uh... that so that he came back and he through for a couple and he ran for another pointing to his knee he ran for it cool he scored five touchdowns he ran for He threw three but he was like five of 12 or seven of 12 or something crazy
05 Jake: numbers so it's like he must have only thrown he must have only thrown at the when they were at the goal line because did you see the rushing statistics yeah I mean on Jordan got hurt in like first half and he almost had a hundred yards and then Fargus had like Fargus box seventy years off he came in and had a box seventy so where do you point and and what at what we give a continue to lose like it picking them to actually win a game if they continue to lose what we do this think that cam cameron is a dead duck you think he gets fired this year well if they don't win a game probably own eight oh and ten do you think they get fired now not in the middle of the year Oh, I think they would. It depends on the players. If the players are not trying anymore, like if you can look at the team and say, damn, they suck, but at least they're trying, then I wouldn't fire them. Because there are a lot of coaches that their first year in the league, they took over bad teams and they do really bad, but it's just like a transition year. But they're losing on ways that they didn't lose. Like last year they had the number four defense in the league and now they're just being They're just old though. Yeah, but they made that choice. They could have gone out and gotten people. They could have not used Ted Gin jr. And they could have gone out and got a defensive lineman. That was a bad move Justin: But did the coach do that or yes? No the coach did it. He's got full control. Well, he's got enough control. Anywho I say Jake: 0 and 8 0 1 9 0 and 10 Bye bye, camp cam. He goes bye bye. I think he gets it their season. That's just me. Patriots, I think... Do you think they could go undefeated? I think it would be very difficult, but if any team could do it, they could do it. It would be them, because they have this odd ability to... take all this like the storm of craziness that goes on around all NFL teams like with the media and everything, all the attention and they have this way of turning it into motivation in some weird odd way and it works really I guess that's the genius of Belichick because he... Other than cheating? Because the cheating is pretty genius too. Oh that is genius. Aside from that, I mean they're conditioned both mentally and physically on the field to actually go undefeated. If any team will do it, it would be them. It's impossible to do now. I'm just saying it right out. It's impossible to do in this day NFL because if they are by Thanksgiving, if they are... If they're undefeated by Thanksgiving, they've won the division by a landslide and they've already got home field advantage. And then it goes to, are you trying to win the, you know, trying to go undefeated or you're trying to get into the playoffs and win the playoffs.
01 Jake: And at some point there's always that one team. I mean, I've seen the Patriots get beaten down by, again, the first time they won the Super Bowl, they got whooped by the Bills to start the season. And the Bills had a horrible season, but they won the Super Bowl. I've seen them lose to the dolphins at the end of the game. Always someone can beat you. Any given Sunday thing works. On any given Sunday, someone can walk into your house. It doesn't matter how good you are and smack you around. Justin: Lirious route. I did. I did. It's done. Jake: Alright, so I say they cannot go undefeated. I mean they have a great team, but they cannot do it. I don't think any team can do it nowadays. It's just too difficult with what those last couple games mean to the team who's playing you and also to who, you know, if you've got it locked up, what are you really doing? So I say, no, it's not. But how about the one other big story in the NFL? Brett Favre. Yep. John's boy. Yeah, John. I will say one of our loyal listeners, John, I'll call him John M, was happy that we did a Brett shout out last week. So we'll do another one this week. The guy's playing like a 10 year old or a 15 year old or whatever. He's great. night. I was so happy to see it. The only thing better would have been if he does it at home, but he's so humble, so much class. Again, I think it's everything that's going wrong with the NFL right now. He's everything that's going right. And he is offsetting in a very powerful way all that crap that's happening with the Pac-Man's and the tanks and the Vicks. and he's offsetting it with just being a long-standing, brilliant player who plays with his heart and it's just great to see and I applaud him. I'll show you how I do it. I hope it continues and anything to keep Marino out of the record books is good. I'm just going to say the best thing about it is that it's not damn Marino anymore. That's really the best thing. I think yards is the last one that Marino owns. Is it? Yeah, so I think... Well, as Farve said, the best one is wins. That is true. They are on such an emotional high, I feel like they're the saints of last year. They're doing this for the Farve. Last year they were doing it for New Orleans this year, they're doing it for the Farve and kind of his last hurrah, they're playing out of their minds, they're playing it above a team that they even thought they would be or anybody thought they'd be. uh... i think just like the saints though for you need to know when three saints exactly yeah cuz they will they were like they were hot and goofers last year you know this is the issue they were going crazy i think the same thing as far this year in that team they're just hopped up they're not dominating player that dot dot is the team that did the jets destroyed last year and now they're they're winning they're just their own
01 Jake: for or for no side I again I think they'll do really well I think eventually lose they'll get into the playoffs to pry go one or two rounds is that home field advantage because you know that the Vikings look bad and the and the Bears look bad and and adult and the Lions looking consistent at best cuz one week they get destroyed by Eagles the next week they destroy the the bears um So I think they'll win the division, they'll get home field advantage, but I think someone will come in their house. A better team, probably, you know, well, it'll be an NFC team, but, and I think they'll beat them, so. There's only one more big story left. Okay, what is it? Ricky Williams. No, that's not a story. Justin: Oh, I love it. Jake: I love the fact that he's trying to get back into the league. I love it. Oh, it's horrible. It's horrible. Keep him out of there. I want Miami to sign. They won't. They'll trick. I want it, please. I'll tell you right now, if you're Roger Goodell, who just got pancaked for not putting Bill Belichick away and not suspending him, if you let Ricky Williams back in this league, you're asking for everything that you get and he could have the shortest stay as commissioner ever because... That's nothing but trouble and that guy he was a great runner, but He's not a player and he's not what he doesn't want to be in this league other than to make money and you got to Keep him out of the league. Yeah, great. It would you know down down the Dolphins? But what do you got to do on the Dolphins man? I mean, you know There's their debt. So I Think there's no way he comes back I cannot imagine after being so harsh on everybody and then doing the Bill Belichick saying and being, the media just ripping him saying he didn't do it strong enough for him to come back and say, oh yeah, this three-peat offender sure lets let him back in. I cannot imagine that. You know, he wants to keep the positive vibe of what's going with Brett Favre going. Again, he's trying to protect the brand. He's protecting the shield. You know. The brand is the shield is it's important So I can't imagine him doing that I think he's gonna ride this Brett Favre touchdown record thing as far as he can he's gonna try to downplay the Vic thing and And letting in you know, sir smoke a lot. I just don't think that's that's that's a good idea and I think that Wraps it up. Let's just go over a couple little jet Kingdom things as always there's a the gestures keep which Justin's writing He wrote of week four analysis you go check that out on the website. There's also I got one coming out You know whenever soon yeah soon enough. Yeah, it's already.
