00:13 Justin: Get used to it. It's always going to be that way. Jake: Welcome to JK- the long-running New York Jets podcast on the internet period. It's Jake on this lovely Tuesday afternoon in a very early or very late jet kingdom and I'm joined by for the 130th time, the one, the only, the broadcaster. Justin: Justin, Justin, how you doing today? That's me, I'm the broadcaster. Umm, alright. So many other names for you. Umm, just peachy, thanks. So are we gonna make this like a positive looking forward podcast? Jake: Or are we gonna make this a, oh my god, what the fuck happened last week podcast? No. No? Yes? positive. Stay positive. Stay positive. Alright so stay classy. So we have an agenda as always and that agenda usually revolves around doing things like talking about the game before. Does it now? Yeah so let's spend maybe five minutes max talking about that game. I already forgot it. Okay so we'll talk about town choir which is whether there's some injuries or other things going on. We'll talk about other kingdoms including Your new segment called, Who to Root For? Justin: Oh, I like this segment. This is your new segment. I'm good at these. Yeah, this is your new segment. I'm gonna tell everyone out there who to be rooting for. Who to root for? Jake: Who to root for? Who to root for? Oh, well, that was yours. That was me. That was bad. Justin: Yeah. You're not... As a broadcaster, you can't make funny noises. My throat has a little tickle in it. Wow. Being a professional. Again, the second week in a row, you're gonna give me a... Being a professional. Jake: You're gonna set me up right there on the... I knock it out of the park spider spider webs spider web all right all right we'll make a pickup we're gonna make a thrown pick because we have games starting tomorrow night and we're doing a lot of time it's it's Thanksgiving it's Justin: turkey day and that means football so let's fast forward backwards all right otherwise called back to last Thursday and let's talk about the game let's do it Jake: We both thought that we were gonna win this game. We both... At the beginning of the year I said we were gonna lose it. Justin: Yes, but you picked one other that we were gonna win. I picked a bunch of others that we were gonna win. Jake: Let's put it that way. You know, we watched this game together, which is, you know, sitting at the couch, getting angry. You know, I think the thing that comes down to this one game for me was, it just, there's a ton, there's a point, this is having a couple games down a row where there's a point in the game where the defense has to stand up and do something and they don't do that thing.
03:01 Jake: Yes, Sanchez has thrown three six, pick sixes in this season and that's three too many. and that team was never going to score enough points to win if he doesn't do that. And it's always in the situation where you just think, oh it's third and eight and we're on our own 12 and it's like he's going to throw. I just wish they would say, you know what? He's got to learn to make better decisions at that point. He's throwing it just... to these random open guys and they run it in. Justin: Gotta make better decisions. You know, I'd love to get on your bandwagon. Suck chest bandwagon? No, I'm on the defense needing to step up and make plays. Our defense played a really good game against an oddball team on a short week. Travel, Thursday night. We're going to use the whole short week thing? Well, I think it's warranted. It wasn't warranted for 3.5 quarters. Well, that's what I'm saying. The defense played... If you look at the Denver drives, their first two drives... Their first drive, they started at the 20 on a touchback. And they turned it over on downs. They went for an up-and-forth down and were... Short their next drive they started on hour 34 Their next drive they start and they only got a field goal out of it. So good job on the defense, right? starting at the 34 And only giving up a field goal the next drive they started at their own 42 and the defense caused a turnover Good job there Their next drive they started on hour 39 Three and out punt great job there the next drive. They start is on the Jets 48 I mean there's a theme here their first five drives Three of them started in Jets territory one of them started in field goal range And all they have in those first five drives to talk of is three points. That's fantastic. And then the last drive before the quarter, or before the half, Denver has again good field position on their own 38. In the second half, again in the third quarter, two out of their four drives in the third quarter started in Jets territory. All their drives were punts. Right. It's just a shame that that pick six happened because all the momentum shifted at that point. We had it. We were shutting them down. We were giving them great field position and fumbling the ball on kickoff. Just really bad mistakes and stopping them. Then in the last drive of the game We couldn't come up with the stop when they start at their own for and I feel like there was a but that's the game I know but I feel like there was just drive. I feel like when a team rushes the ball That many times
06:02 Justin: They get no pass they have no reason he completed he completed a couple passes when it mattered and And really they basically got us gassed. They ran the ball often to the point where they ran the ball 30 something 40 times and they were just gassed at the end of the game. And it's unfortunate that that happened because the defense really did play a very good game. They just didn't play a very good last series of the game and unfortunately this loss has to go on the offense because the defense did enough to win. The defense gave up 10 points. The defense gave up 10 points. The defense gave up three points until the last drive and they were putting bad spots, really bad spots. So to me, the offense lost this game. They were, you know, injuries galore They they're there. They have no LT going into the game. They lose strong green in the first quarter So they have to go with very inexperienced Running back situation in a game where you really want your running attack Sanchez was off once You know once it came time to have to you know, all right step up. We gotta win the game I thought a fairly decent game he had some good drives it just you know in the In the scheme of things not a very good game because of the pick six I think I need to have enough time. I thought von Miller was in his face. There were a couple of bad Jake: You sack three times. There were a couple of bad calls Justin: A couple of late hits that weren't called. Um, but whatever we can cry over that every week if we want At the end of the day they lost And to me this was on the offense more than it was on the defense. Can't really single out one player in particular. It's easy to say Sanchez the quarterback has to play better. Here's why I'm just gonna turn it around and go turn around and feel good about it. All right, I'm waiting for it. I looked back and I looked back at 2009. Mark Sanchez's rookie year. Okay? All right. take a guess what was our record after 10 games five and five worse you're kidding four and six what did we do that year we went to the playoffs went to the NCAA Championship and lost against Indy I was there that's right no worse than we did last year nope and last year we were whatever we were, I mean we were like 7 and 2 or 7 and 3 or 8 and 2 or something. The AFC is still tight, the wildcard is still within reach, they're one game back, positive outlook, gotta win some games, we have 3 games looking ahead, we really should be 8 and 5. I think our next 3 games are bills.
09:02 Justin: redskins Cheeps cheeps. There's no reason to lose any of those three games you come out of those three eight and five We pick our head up and say okay, where are we at then? I? Like it. I think I have a little tear right here. It's the truth I mean you guys I know you guys take it obviously one game at a time And it sucks because you take it one game at a time and then you lose the game and it's like Fuck because you take it right one game at a time But then in the scheme of things five and five is not anywhere close to out of it, right? Jake: Well, really another other divisions. It's it's it's a winning record Justin: Yeah, you're in the West your game out of first place. I mean, we're not gonna win our division grant It's not gonna happen the paths have the easiest schedule moving forward. They play no teams that are over 500 at this point Moving forward the Patriots do not play a winning team. They play the bill on their schedule. It's just not on their schedule right the bills are and And to think you know the better than the bills they proved it last week But if you look at New England, they're not losing this division. They might not even lose a game. All right They have Philly. Okay fine. If you want to think about Philly as not, as a good team, well their record states they're not. They're okay. They're average. They have the Colts, which is ridiculous. They have the Redskins, who we have. They have Denver, who we should have beaten, and I think if we played Sunday, would have beaten them. They have Miami and they have Buffalo. There's not one team in there that has a winning record. But any of those teams could beat the Pats. Except for... Except I think the Bills. They're not gonna sweep. And the Colts. The Bills aren't gonna beat the Pats twice in one year. It's not gonna happen in New England. I mean, they might because it's the last game of the year. But if New England needs it, they're gonna win it. And you know what? If Buffalo needs it, New England's gonna play it. So there's absolutely no reason to think that New England's not gonna win that game. Alright, so let's move on. Jake: So, say we could spend five minutes, we already spent five minutes. I don't even want to fool the game. No, I do want to give out. Justin: Alright, who's your fool of the game? Um... Actually, I didn't even have one. Thanks for sending yourself up to fame. I wanted to give out... Everybody. Actually, you know what? I'm gonna give out the pool to the special teams. You don't like to call anybody out. You know what? I feel like we had another bad special teams where we mixed the field. the Jake: the Justin: the the and we drove to the other side of the field, missed the field goal. They had a fumble on on a kickoff return, I believe it was. They had just a bad overall game by the special teams.
12:08 Justin: And I think that that needs to be addressed quickly. If you're going to give it to a group, I'm going to give it to the offensive line because Sanchez can't get sacked three times in the game and get beat down. Jake: on. Has heart and it wasn't because he's holding on the ball and there are times when he holds on the ball But these what he was literally like read one read hit smash. I was looking at his statistics Justin: Trying to see some stats and again again believe it or not He's having a better year this year than he had last year and the year before But there's one very telling statistic, which is that he's been sacked 25 times already this season. Last season, 27. Total, right? The year before that, 26. Yeah. So he's already been sacked as many times as he has in the last seasons, and we still got six games left to go. Yeah. And he's getting hit and because of it he's fumbling. Jake: Yeah, I mean those the fumbling yes be fine getting hit and fumbling is different throwing this throwing the interception in you know Down at the other end of the field. It's just it's inexcusable You just it's gotta be stopped and again, I just rather we take a two point I really fucking rather take a safety at that point like it's like if you're gonna give up points give up two not six because at two points we still could have won the game is six we can't win um or six then turns in second all right let's move on all right because let's go on to happier moments like uh well we got some people coming back this week do we yeah so uh green's gonna Justin: return yeah don't tease still i got the feeling that if that was a playoff game he would have Jake: He said, he said... And that's where the thing is, the Jets thought they won that game. Like, they were looking at the five minutes left to go, this offense that had gone nowhere, all game, really had not scored. They scored three points. And so they were thinking... They were given those three points, too. Yeah. And I just think they were thinking, Oh, whatever. We're gonna stop them. And they just couldn't do it. But just reminded me of that Pats game, where, again, the end of the game, you're only down by, I think, four... And here comes the Pats, who are not a good running team, and they just ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and we just couldn't stop it. We're also, pool's gonna be back. Oh, okay. Pool's gonna be back in the mix. I feel like he was missed this week. Yep. He's a bigger safety. And Burris is questionable again, but more, they said, they said Burris... out really I don't know what burst out means what does that mean he's out yeah Justin: I'm not gonna play burst out oh that's not good yeah so let's see out he's gonna be out out out where are you seeing yeah I don't know maybe maybe Jake: it's a Justin: I don't see this anywhere. Jake: You know what, I think it was out doing charity work.
15:01 Jake: It was Burris out, but I had to walk into it. Justin: That's a headline grabber. Jake: Yeah, there you go. Don't like that. Rex Ron gives Mark Rinal first team reps to motivate Sanchez. Whatever. So... Justin: Good, and I like that guys come back is LT still out LT is out It's curly coming back because they need him that really do they need a third like a slot No, no curly is is still out Jim Leonard is the punt returner then yes, he doesn't fumble Yeah, catches the ball. He catches the ball. He's not gonna do a lot with it. He's actually a solid Jake: Yeah, so let's keep him back there What other town, what other things? No, you have to tell correctly. I will tell it correctly. You can't say Justin: Exaggerate I will tell all right tell the story first off fine Rex fine 75 grand For walking into the tunnel during halftime of the past everyone knows this he walked in a guy said Belichick's better than you he said Go fuck yourself or suck my dick or something. He said Bell tax better than you he goes go fuck go fuck yourself Yeah, great. Whatever. I think 75,000 is too much Here's the reality Ten years ago. He's not find a dollar So now it's now in because nobody knows that he did that was it Do we know what is it a jazz fan or was it a past fan probably a past fan? But who who how you gonna know that he did that? Someone gonna call Roger Goodell and say Roger Goodell Roger Goodell Rex Ryan told me to go fuck myself Roger Goodell is gonna tell you to go fuck yourself. All right, but because it's on camera tell the better story really All right. Here's the better story. This is so much better. This is awesome This gives you some street cred does so we're at the we're at the The Pats game that night that Rex got fined and we missed this on the last podcast So sorry, this is a little late, but this really did happen. So it's We sit in the 200 level. Yes, and we sit in the area where right behind us is The like MetLife corporate cushy suite to our corporate so just to our yeah To our up to our up to our left up to the left, right? So that's like kind of the cushiest of cushy like a couple weeks back I saw Carmelo Anthony sitting in those seats right Wow Melos. That's where they put the big wings. All right fine There's a large contingency of Patriots fans in this section during the Patriots game and they were like loud because they're sort of Protected there in this like cushy section. They can stand it's wild off their security around. Oh, yeah, there is so
18:01 Justin: The Pats score, you know Their field goal or whatever. They're up like six nothing or whatever the score was Then the Jets drive down and they score that touchdown at Sanchez draw play touchdown we go up we're winning and You know the bathrooms right behind us so you run up to go to the bathroom Either on your way out or on your way back you yell something to the effect of that's right This is our house. This is our stadium. We're winning this game Get along those lines get out of my stadium or something like that Those are things that I was those are the things that you were yelling. I did towards these people. Yeah, so All of a sudden we're on the aisle and we're all come back to the back. You come back. You're sitting down You're in your seat. We're up. We're happy All of a sudden behind me there are two security guards talking to each other and You're still like yelling not really back towards them You're more yelling at the game and I which is what I'm allowed to do. You're totally well within your eyes I go over to you and I sell hey Jake calm down. I think these guys are here talking about you and So they're talking and the guy comes over to you and says You can't curse in here. Right. And you obviously didn't curse. You said to him, I don't curse. I bring my six-year-old daughter to these games. Right. I don't curse at the games. Right. I was yelling. Right. Sure, but I wasn't cursing. Right. Fine. The conversation happens. The two security guards are talking to him behind me and I hear them say... That was Tom Brady's father. He was yelling at Amongst the other Patriots fans. It wasn't like you so we look back As old dude, and it's some guy could be Tom Brady's dad could not be maybe maybe not redcoat That's the guy you're yelling at. Yeah, I'm just a few others So we remember this. Yeah the other night. Yes, and we Google Tom Brady's dad Images you totally yelled at time totally yelling and you were totally reprimanded by Met life security to stop yelling at Tom Brady's up swearing at Tom Brady's that so fuck you Tom Brady's that's pretty cool Jake: Yeah, so anyway apparently I was yelling at Tom Brady's that so to Tom Brady and Tom Brady's dad. I'm sorry I was yelling at you. That's whatever. I totally get out of our stadium. I think that's a perfectly thing to say again They were very loud behind us and they are walled off And it is kind of like, listen, if you're going to be in our stadium, I am generally a very nice person to all the other people. And if you're a Dolphins fan or Bills fan or whatever, and you cheer for your team, great. If you get so loud and so obnoxious that you're kind of like, you know, stepping on boundaries, I'm more than happy to tell you to shut up. I told them probably to leave the stadium. He said I'd said something, some eff- some fuck you, I didn't. I mean the only thing I could possibly say was like get the fuck out of our stadium
21:02 Jake: But that doesn't even something I would say I got I don't know it's just not like my thing anyway Yeah, so I got reprimanded for yelling at Tom Brady's dad. That's awesome sauce. I might get a t-shirt so there's this other Justin: headline Our news article that was published last week on the 17th that the Jets somehow headline a list of potential suitors for Peyton Manning. Yeah, someone tweeted that, too. And this person wrote this article as though the Jets are the most likely suitor for Peyton Manning. Right. And as a jet fan, if you were to guarantee me that I was gonna get three Years of prime Peyton Manning, I'll take it. I really would you take it and see you later Sanchez Good enough to shop either see you later Or you paint him to a turn around or cut him or whatever Yeah, I would do it I would totally do it. What would you do? If you were to tell me I'm gonna get three Peyton Manning Peyton Manning years with the Rex Ryan defense, I need one Yeah, I know. So why you saying three? Well three is like because you're gonna dump someone who you think is good and can be your quarterback for ten Jake: Okay, so I think it's about time to have a little talk about Sanchez and I think here's Two things happened at the end of that game, that Denver game. I got two things came down for me, two expectations came down. One is my expectation for this season dropped. Where did it drop to? Right off the table, that's where I just went. My expectation for the season dropped, right? From where the greatest thing is the size spread, we can win out, we can win the AFC East, which is what every year I'm rooting for. It dropped. Two shit. We're now in this scenario that we're almost in every year. We got to be the little bitch to fucking the Patriots and we got to somehow find a way in and then go on the road. And as someone who goes, who's gone to, out of the last three years, the six playoff games we've been in the last two years, I've gone to four of those playoff games and sat in four other people's stadiums. Every time I left going, we need a fucking home game. We're not gonna do this without a home game. So that dropped, my expectation dropped. And my other thing about is Sanchez. I like Sanchez. I wear his jersey. I am proud to have him on our team. I look around at the other quarterbacks in the league and there are a few that stand out as the best of the best and then there's just a muddle huddle of motherfuckers. Thank you. He is in the muddle puddle. He is not The greatest thing slice bread he is never going to be for my feeling right now He's never going to get to that elite status that thing that Eli says that he might be he's sure easily No Sanchez isn't the in the Eli Stan Eli standings. He's in that guy. He's a guy who's gonna show up Justin: Yeah, he is. He's not in UI's class.
24:01 Jake: Yet. Well, ring aside. In terms of numbers, in terms of what he does. No, not even ring aside. He's not. How many years in though? Justin: That's the point. But UI isn't five years in. Well, he's 78 years in. That's the point though. Jake: But that's what I'm saying. In 78 years, he will be in that class. He's not going to be in the Manning class, in the Peyton Manning. Tom Brady, the Drew Brees, the Rogers, not Ben Roethlisberger, he's going to be in the Eli Manning class of quarterbacks. Perfectly acceptable. Well, and I think that's the thing. But it's kind of like having, and we talked about this the other week, I think I said the same thing. It's kind of like having a kid and kind of going, he's not going to be a fucking rocket star. He's not going to be the next president. He's not going to win the Nobel priest prize. But when you have your new starting brand new shining number pick in the draft and he's this great new quarterback You always were thinking this is the guy who's going to be the greatest quarterback ever and he's gonna play like no other quarterback has ever Played and we are gonna be set for 10 years and now we're realizing no, that's not really the case He can be a an average to above average quarterback Justin: Yeah, it bothers me a little bit when I see a guy like Andy Dalton that bothers me. Why? Well to see that he's you look so polished as a rookie and to just to think that like that guy has even now you would say all right you have a choice Sanchez now or Dalton now I would and most people would take Dalton I wouldn't I don't know because I because I know because I know Sanchez's history Jake: and I know that Sanchez can be a a game-winning fourth-quarter comeback thing proven proven on the road proven on the road playoff harshest places to play in the world winning quarterback I know he can be I know he's not going to carry the team I know he's not going to do the do the thing that you know that just say I can take you I'm the I'm a guy who can just take you he's never going to make every defense shutter Like that, oh my god, here comes Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, right? But he can be that. Andy Dalton, right? At this point, again, this many games in, there were games in that first season of Sanchez when he was like playing really well. He had like one or two good games. We're like, oh my god, look at this guy. Like he's fucking amazing. But then the reality hits if they don't know. I was looking, he barely threw the ball. But nobody knows Andy Dalton. He barely even threw the ball. Nobody knows Andy Dalton. You have to perform for not one year, not two years, not three years. Justin: You have to put together a body of work. I think your argument would actually go against you. No. No. No. Listen. OK. It would, because you'd say, I don't believe this. Right. Right? But I would think you can look at Sanchez in his third year, and I don't believe he is what he's going to be. You think he's still, there is still, there's still, I mean, there's still absolutely improvements to be made. Wait, wait. Off of last week, or are you saying over season one? No, overall. OK. Okay. I don't think a quarterback is as good as they can be until like their fourth or fifth year starting.
27:02 Justin: Okay, I just don't think it's true. I think you can even look back at a lot of quarterbacks throughout the years and say wow, it clicked for them in their fourth, fifth, sixth year starting. Right, not in the league but starting. Like you can look at Aaron Rodgers! It's true of him. You could look at Tom Brady. They didn't win those Super Bowls with Tom Brady They won those Super Bowls with their defense and Tom Brady not turning the ball over same a pain manning Same of Drew Brees shit, San Diego traded him after year four because they pick Phil Rivers You think they would have picked Phil Rivers if they? Really both got a simple way quarterback reason roster silly So I don't think you're there until you're four or five. So we don't know we really don't but Jake: The indications the indications are the leaps and bounds from year to year improvement. Yes dramatic improvement No, it hasn't been dramatic. Is he still making some of the stuff mistakes that you would think would be washed out of his His thing after being third year same head coach same offensive coordinator Same I mean, he's got a lot of the same stuff Sure, Roger Severs come and go but for the good for the good quarterbacks doesn't matter who the fucks out there Tom Brady You could literally put you and I on the field as Tom Brady's wide receivers and he would just make something happen. He'd be like, whatever, you two, go out there and fall down and I'll run it for 10 yards. Like, you know, that's what makes a great... Again, I like Sanchez a lot. He is not the problem with the team. He is just not the solution. So he is just a piece of the particle and I think a lot of teams are built on the solution Look at Green Bay. Green Bay without Rodgers at this point would be not winning any games They don't have enough their defense is giving up so much fucking leg They're giving to running backs and quarterbacks who can't do anything gets on the team They're fucking going crazy against Green Bay. Did you just see that play of blunt? He got tackled by eight people and they couldn't bring him down. Justin: Yeah, I still think Green Bay could win if they had to. Within a different way. I feel like they could. That's just me. I feel like they don't have to so they don't. Well, I don't feel like you have that quarterback there. They beat us last year that way. I know it's a different year, but they beat us 9-0. Well, we had a great way of keep shutting him down and I think our deep end beat us that way, right? They beat us 9 nothing, but they had to I feel like Green Bay's a really great team Like they could win however, they I don't think they're deep just my feeling Jake: Yeah, but again, I just think that's the sort of thing So we have to go back to saying, you know It is time to to shore up on all the other stuff and and I guess really the disappointing thing is sort of the special teams Now I go back in the season like there's been some big special teams issues fumbles off of special teams, multiple. Some of this stuff is like, if we're gonna be the team that wins with Mark Sanchez, we gotta pin them every time with the five, we gotta do them three and outs every time, and we gotta be there at the end of the game to finish it. Good defenses play better in the fourth quarter
30:01 Jake: than they do in the first quarter. They shut down teams. That's what good defenses do. That's what great defense do. We gotta be there in order to have it. to have a quarterback like a Joe Flacco or Mark Sanchez who can Not do a lot for you, but you're still gonna win because you got this defense You can throw a six pick pick six, but you're gonna stop them at the end of the game anyway and shit You'll win, you know 13 10 and it won't matter. Yeah. So anyway, let's let's move on All right, you've had another yet another yet another Sanchez debate Justin: Not really a debate, I just thought... Jake: So let's play our new segment. We're kind of going in deep here in the... We got 30 minutes in, but let's play our new segment called, Who Should We Root For? Justin: Nobody. Jake: Nobody? No. Other than the Jets, because now we're in the huddle muddle fuddle... I think it's who do we root against. Well, who do we root for, who do we root against? Justin: Alright, is that just a... No! This week... Do you have a real question? Yeah, this week... This week? I'm a Jets fan watching TV, what do I want to have happen? I'm gonna go through my picks and I'm picking heart this week, so I'll go through it when we do our picks. Oh, you're not gonna look at the divisions and go, here's what we need to happen? I'm picking heart, so I will explain it as we go. What I want to happen with each game. Jake: Well I don't want heart jets. I want jets playoff scenarios. That's my heart isn't it? All right, I don't know you're a fucking pass fan sometimes. So let's go. All right, so we're gonna do our thrown picks We're gonna do jet kingdom pick up. Yeah, let's do pick them. Jet kingdom pick them We pick every game except for the AFC East where we come back when we pick those with a little bit more gusto So let's pick them with we'll pick them with the spread off of Yahoo as of Tuesday as of Tuesday. So Justin: three No, only two off. Two off We have turkey day, football, three of them, and we have some good ones. I think they could be the best three games that we've had since it's gone to three games, namely because Detroit is decent. They're a good team. Jake: I agree, I'm excited about all these games. I'm excited about all three games. And fantasy, the thing that you and I actually go head to head in, the thing that you got beat down in last week. Justin: hahaha the thing that you're hoping for the playoffs in I am so I'm gonna skip the middle game in the thanksgiving cause it includes Miami yep so at 1230 we got a great game, we got Green Bay and Detroit we have the undefeated Packers Going into Detroit who saved some face last week and crushed Carolina Carolina can't stop they can't stop a nosebleed They're no good. No, they can't play defense. They're one of the worst defensive teams ever I think yeah, they can't Newton come run around forever. But it chicken without a head Doesn't really matter. Nope So, green, the line is six, green bay's favored by six. Again, I've looked at like green bay, and they have not won a game by less than seven this whole year. So I don't know how you can put a line less than seven. So I'm gonna take green bay. Wait, what's that last week?
33:01 Justin: How'd you do? Oh, I had three. So. So. If you're picking at home, just pick against me, you'll be fine. I had three. All right, I am literally nothing against you. I'm more picking heart than brain where those things happen. Fine, I'm going to do it. I'm going to pick against you. Good. I'll take Detroit. I'm cheering for Detroit. I'm just picking Green Bay because I just can't see how a team that hasn't won by less than seven. is favored by Westland. Jake: This is one of the things, I think everybody would say this is going to be this huge fucking back and forth blowout game, you know, 65 to 63. But I think that Detroit has enough weapons that they can kind of move the ball enough. Justin: Do you think that this line is inflated like... Don't you think it'd be more like seven and a half if it wasn't on Thanksgiving? Jake: Probably probably in Detroit being home. Well Detroit home in week three in this game Justin: Oh, this would be of a point a right. Yeah, but I'll do points but but Detroit has also come back from you know, being way under, they seem to have an ability to- I feel like this could be a fun as hell game in the 40s. Like this could be really fun. Right. I think it'll be close enough to actually keep the joy. Let's go to the night game where the brothers Harbaugh face off. Baltimore is hosting San Francisco. Some brotherly love, there'll probably be some hugs before and after the game. Maybe some hard handshakes. It'd be pretty cool if they fought at halftime. So here's a heart pick. Baltimore's favored by three and a half. Let's go San Francisco. Jake: Now I'm going to pick Baltimore. There's no way I'm taking them. I'm just going to come all the way across. They're a good team. Justin: They've done this all the way across, by the way, already this year. Great. Jake: They've got to lose one of them. Justin: All right, they're gonna lose this one. I don't trust Baltimore's offense to even score against San Francisco Jake: So yeah, radio's could probably be out again, right? Yeah, I thought he's gonna be back. No, I heard he was gonna be on another week or so Give me San Francisco Justin: Give me both and I want San Francisco to win the game outright and care about the point and I'm gonna pay against you Well, you're picking not with the heart then. No, I'm not. Alright, let's move to Sunday. Crappy game to start us off. Atlanta is hosting Minnesota, minus Adrian Peterson probably. Everything I hear is probably that. Minus an effective Adrian Peterson even if he plays. Atlanta is giving 9. I'm just going to pick Minnesota for the sheer... Nobody believes in us, we don't have our guy, there's no way in hell we're gonna win. Jake: And they'll probably just lose a close one. Yeah, uh, Atlanta has one of the best run D's anyway. I think they're top three run D. Really? Yeah, so even if Peterson was there, Toby Gear a. What you got for next? Chuck it. Chuck it, fuck it, football. Justin: And I think they'll keep it within 9, so I'll take Minnesota. This is one of the ones you're gonna get ready. Alright, next game is a heart game.
36:02 Justin: Um, Addy, having lost 2 in a row, um, is hosting Cleveland. And Cincinnati's 7 and a half. This is the team that we need to slide. This is the one. This is the team that's ahead of us. and This is the team that it's gonna be us or them for that last wild card spot us or Cincinnati That's it. And this is the one we got a root against every single week going forward and they have a fairly easy schedule I feel like they can get to ten wins. We're gonna have to get to ten maybe even eleven Um, give me Cleveland. Jake: Go Cleveland! Go Cleveland. It's a lot of points. Don't feel like since he's really beating people up, they've got, see, since he's got this tough, tough schedule coming up. Not really. Justin: I mean, they play the Ravens and the Steelers again because they just played them back to back and lost to them both in one score games. I mean, but by touchdown. One at home, one on the road. But they have Cleveland then they well, let's go through this again because this team we really need to root against So they've Cleveland at home. I feel like they're gonna win that game. Yeah, but I'm picking Cleveland anyway Then they go to Pittsburgh where I'm sure they'll lose then they've Houston at home, which Before the match job injury, I'd say that's a loss. But now I'm thinking Then they go to St. Louis, that's a win. Then they have Arizona at home. I'm hoping this is a... Cincinnati just realizes that they're the Bengals and they lose that game. Right. Kinda like the Buildsman guy. And then they have Baltimore at home in the last game of the week. I'm gonna lose that. Which I hope Baltimore needs to win. Baltimore will be fighting for a top spot. They'll be fighting for one too. Hopefully they're fighting for their division. So... Again, I see three to four wins in there for for since II we need them to really only win like zero. So Tough one. Give me Cleveland and the seven and a half starts this week. All right, cool I will take Cleveland as well. And here's another heart game We'll look at their schedule as we go Tennessee is home hosting Tampa So here's a general rule any time an AFC team is playing an NFC team go NFC Alright, go Tampa! So Tennessee's hosting their giving three. Tampa just played Green Bay fairly tough. Tennessee is coming off of a loss in Atlanta facing another NFC South team. Go NFC! This is another 5-5 team, Tennessee. So their schedule, they have Tampa at home. Hopefully Tampa could step up and win that game. Then they go to Buffalo. Jake: Go to Buffalo. Ooh. Justin: No good. Well, if we beat Buffalo, then it's go Buffalo. They're back to sucking. But I'm saying we beat Buffalo this week. Then we... Oh, we're going to be big fans of Buffalo after this week.
39:01 Justin: Because I looked at the schedule. They're playing a bunch of teams we need them to beat. Great. So... Go Buffalo, let's go Buffalo. Next week, the week after. Yeah, but continuing to look at Tennessee's schedule. After that, they have New Orleans at home. Then they go to Indianapolis, Jacksonville at home, and then they go to Houston. It's not a hard schedule. So... Well, Houston, Indianapolis is no good. No good. Jacksonville at home. Jacksonville plays good D. Yes. All right. All right keep going. All right, so I'm taking Tampa Jake: I will take Tampa as well They served from Spark last week against Green Bay in Green Bay. They kind of showed that they had some spark tough again I don't know if they have enough to actually keep winning or that or sorry or win But I feel like they this is a team that Justin: that they could win against. They're an awful awful running defense so we'll see if um Jake: we'll see if Chris Johnson can get that. Yeah I'm gonna have opposing running backs in this game. I'm gonna have a blunt versus a Chris Johnson. In your fantasy. Yeah by the way I've been listening to lots of fantasy owners and apparently that by owning Chris Johnson basically your entire season has gone down the shit. I just love it that by the when I traded with Chris created for Chris Johnson I won since. Even though he's not the guy who's won the game won the weeks for me. For some reason he's been the lucky charm. So it's a little reversal. Yeah Justin: You didn't draft him. I think that that's the yeah, the draft Yeah, but if you look like Tampa is not a very good run deep end bottom ten right bottom seven But me all right moving right along Carolina is visiting the Colts Carolina is favored on the road. This is a two win team favored on the road by more than a field goal. I don't get it. That is scary. Keep going NFC. Give me Carolina. Yeah, I- I- well really? Well Carolina's problem is their defense and Indy doesn't have an offense so... I feel like Carolina could score on Indy at will. Indie can't really score so I mean maybe they'll score a couple points in this game because Caroline's defense so bad But I can see them winning like 30 something that 20. Yeah. No, I think everyone's gonna win this game Jake: So give me Carolina. All right Justin: This game doesn't have a line. It probably shouldn't even be played st. Louis is hosting, Arizona Enough said just give me st. Louis. Let's move on Jake: uh Doesn't really matter. Yeah, it's a shitty team. Oh and it's off. Yeah, no line. So Home team I will take i'll take Arizona because you don't know what you're doing. You're probably right. All right Justin: Um next game is uston is going to jacksonville uston is favored on the road by three and i'm gonna take the home team jacksonville because of the Matt Liner starting factor I don't think he's very good at all Jake: Jacksonville has been surprisingly good defense although they're not saying can't score for shit they can't score at all and Gearhart or whatever his name is
42:03 Jake: looks like crap the Jacksonville quarterback I don't know this was a tough one Houston they're just gonna come out and run the ball talking about Blaine Justin: Gabbard Gabbard that's it I think they made a mistake Drafting him. They probably should have drafted Andy Dalton I don't know one likes those. I mean I mean I was watching some Jacksonville I don't know why it was like on the red zone or something This guy if you want to see like a bad quarterback, you think Sanchez is bad Watch a Jacksonville game There's a rookie quarterback who's not gonna ever be in here. I heard the guy last night, Casey Guy, didn't watch any of the game. I heard he was just like, he made Tim Tebow a good quarterback. Well he's not, he's not, I mean, you're drafting Blaine Gabbard in the first round to be your starting franchise quarterback. And he is, he's a little pussy in the pocket. Oh yeah, he just falls. He just falls. He leans. He doesn't even step into his throws. He just like flinches. He falls backwards. And that's not... I don't know. That seems like something that you can't fix. So you want to feel good about such as? Watch Gabbard. Watch Gabbard. That's a first round pick that's not going to work out. Gabbie Gabbard. Alright. Who do you got? He's going to run the ball. Alright, so next game. Here's another Root with the Heart game. Oakland, starting to look good, is hosting Chicago Cutlerless with the broken thumb out, likely for the rest of the season. Yeah. They said six, about six weeks. They're saying maybe for the playoffs. They got to get there first. Yeah. They're looking good there. They really are on a roll. They were looking like one of the best teams in the NFC. You were saying how good they looked in Really saying it, I cursed him. But, gotta root, gotta root, gotta root for Chicago. Gotta root for that NFC team to beat that AFC team. Don't really care that right now Oakland's leading the division, just come back down, come back down to us. Jake: I just think Chicago's defense is good enough that- They're pretty good. It will travel well enough, it will, and they have a good running game. And a running game and a good D actually help out. any quarterback. I don't believe in Carson Palmer so I can see him throwing three picks in this game two and run back touchdowns. Plus they have a special team so Chicago's got everything around them to make any shitty quarterback look Justin: okay. Special team. This kid did not look at all bad. Yeah he played the NFC championship game. He had some experience. The line by the way is Oakland's favored by four and a half. I think we're both taking Chicago. We're both taking Chicago. Here's another game that we don't really care about. It's at 405, which means no one will be watching it because it's not going to be on the, it'll be local. Seattle's hosting Washington. I see this, 105.
45:00 Justin: Why do you see this, 405? This is 405. Okay. It's in Seattle, so I can't imagine it starting at 105 because that would be 1005. Bye. Okay, maybe your Yahoo is set to Western time maybe Strange well, what time do you see the Tennessee versus Tampa? Tennessee Tampa see it as 10 a.m. Oh then you're in West Coast time a friend But we're here in the East in New York so that doesn't make much sense to me No, anyway, Seattle's hosting Washington Seattle's favored by four I don't even know I don't care give me Seattle. Seattle at home take it. Take it. Moving right along. We're going to skip that one because we're going to go to the next one. San Diego is hosting Denver and this is another one. Who we root for here. We root for San Diego. Because we beat them and they have a worst record Okay, San Diego's four and six Denver five and five Denver beat us we beat San Diego. Let's go San Diego San Diego's favored by six and a half. I'm not picking this with the spread. I'm picking the team. Let's go San Diego superchargers Stay classes in Diego and win the game by more six and a half. So this is a good opportunity You know, I read a columnist Bill Simmons very popular very famous very popular on ESPN started grantland.com recently and he does his Friday picks so in his Last week's Friday pick column He was picking the Chargers game as bears favored by three and a half over the Chargers and I'm just gonna read to you his His his pick here. He gives a little description So totally sold in the Bears totally sold that the Chargers are done totally expect Evan Hester return at least one kick Followed by the announcer yelping. Why did teams kick off to Devin Hester? Can't we just make North Turner the new Jets offensive coordinator right now? Why do we have to wait three months? That's funny I love it. I will take North Turner that had heartbeat as my offenses that happens. That would be pretty cool It'll be a good thing. Trust me He's a good one. It might be a beautiful thing. He's a terrible head coach But he's a damn good offensive coordinator and look what happened in Houston All of a sudden they have one of the best defenses because they took a guy Yeah, Phillips and said no you're good at being a defensive coordinator good at you know good at head coaching But you're damn good at defensive coordinator All right moving along Pittsburgh is going to Kansas City on Sunday night Pittsburgh favored by ten and a half Again, we got a route for Kansas City again Like we had to do last night, which was just miserable And although I gotta say they played them real good in the first half. They came out They set the tempo their offense was looking good. They were shutting Brady down. They were sacking them And then the second half it just all disappeared. Poof gone. All of a sudden Kansas City couldn't do anything. And this New England Patriots defense that is awful
48:01 Justin: gave up three points. And they were sort of saying that on the broadcast. Like, they don't look good. They give up a ton of yards. They don't give up a lot of points. They bend but don't break. Jake: They do. And them hate the Kansas City. Give me Kansas City. I'll take Pittsburgh. I'm going with the heart again. I'm going with Pittsburgh. Alpha huge by the last by the season. Kansas City coming off a Monday Night Game. Nah, they're gonna get crushed. Justin: Alright, and Monday Night. Continuing the trend of teams playing Sunday night then Monday night. Yeah, we have New Orleans coming off a bye against the New York Giants witnessing we went Sunday night We went to two Sunday night games in a row in a row and saw losses by the home team both So the Giants are doing what I thought they would do they're losing now. They started six and two They're now six and four If I get that one thing correct this year, I'll actually be happy. If they finish 7 and 9, I'll be sort of happy. Sorry Giants fans, you're probably not listening to this at this point if you're a Giants fan. It might be a Giants fan. I guess. I mean, I don't mind the Giants. It's just... I don't like... I have some friends and family that are Giants fans that don't like the Jets. Like they root against the Jets and the only reason why they hate the Jets is because they're not the Giants. It's like, do you hate every team? Not really. I mean, I don't have any hatred for Seattle. No. I don't hate the Redskins. I don't hate them for any reason. Like yeah, I usually have the same correlation I have to have some connection with the just and really this is the only connection is that they're in the same city Pittsburgh As I be yeah, but they're in the AFC there in the AFC we play them, right? We play these teams like once every four or five years Maybe yeah, I mean the whole both being same Yeah, whatever. All right, you know if you're the Giants And you're a giant fan. There's no reason to hate the Jets. It's like being a Yankee fan. I don't hate Mets. I don't hate the Mets. Mets fans hate the Yankees, and that's understandable. They're the big bad Yankees, and they win. The Giants have won. They've won recently. They win often. They win. Jake: Four, three, two, one. Justin: Yeah, I mean, since 86, they have three, and they've appeared in four. I haven't seen my team ever play in one. So that sucks. ... ... Anyway, New Orleans is hosting this coming off of by New Orleans is favored by seven. I like New Orleans to win by six. So give me the Giants and the picks. Jake: I was going with the Giants, but now that you picked the Giants, I got to switch my pick. Go ahead and do it. So I'm going to switch it to Norrallanes, although I thought it was going to be closer, Justin: but now... We have to pick the score for this game and pick them so I picked it to be 27 21 Jake: I picked it 28 24. I think the Giants are gonna win. You think the Giants are gonna win? Yeah, actually
51:02 Jake: Do think the Giants have a good good enough defense against the reasons show that you put up a good enough defense against them You can actually slow them down. I think they kind of showed up on Sunday night. I think this will be a good rebound game Justin: They played a backup quarterback without his starting winner He's a he's a Vince young I sat there next to you and said this guy is a winner I don't care. It's ugly buddy wins like he's a winner. He's a winner Yeah, but this is a backup quarterback without one of his starting receivers and And they and they managed to beat the Giants gut call, but now I swapped it so they all right Let's go to the AC East Alright, well one of these games is on turkey day. Yeah, let's pick that one first Let's do that one. So Miami's going to Dallas. How do you do last week last week? I know I had New England to beat Kansas City Had had Buffalo beating Miami and I had the Jets beating Denver. So one and two I went two for three I lost what does that mean two four three two out of three? I got right Jake: So I had I had Miami winning I didn't have the winning by a beat down they crossed um I had jet jets clearly winning and I I did see the New England winning, but I thought it would be closer. I think 31-21. Justin: Hit 31-70. Yeah, so, uh,- I didn't know though that Castle was out and I probably should've. You should've. Um, alright, so Miami's going to Dallas. The four o'clock. Yes, we have 30. Jake: I think we're having Thanksgiving at 2.30. Should we come bummer because that- It is a bummer. I'm just gonna T-vo it. We're gonna turn it off T-Vlog. Justin: Why don't you just watch it? Why don't you just keep it on? Eh, that's what I do. We're gonna spend like 20 minutes trying to pretend like we're a family. I just sit at the table, eat as fast as I can, and then go right back to the couch. I'm the first one back on the couch, and I really don't care what anyone thinks about me. Is it 1230? What time? 1230. So 1230 will end 345? No, these games, usually there's a little halftime spectacular, and it'll probably end around 4. So, if I have dinner at 230... Yeah, we'll be done by 3.15. Yeah. I'll get the psych department. You'll get in, no problem. Yep. Alright, so, well anyway, the important game is this Miami-Dallas game. These are two hot teams right now. So hot right now. So hot right now. Miami's showing up for their coach, which is unexpected. The greatest thing ever. I'm sure. For more information, please visit www.FEMA.gov Jake: would be that if Miami wins enough games, they have to keep them. Keeps Verano, because why not? He brought this team back more. And Matt Moore is the quarterback of the future. And Matt Moore is the quarterback of the future. That could be nothing better from the Jets team. Justin: No, you're right. To think that Matt Moore is your quarterback of the future is a mistake. And Brandon Marshall, oof, last game. Got a bad game. Jake: They scored 35 points and frickin' he had one catch. Justin: Yeah, well I have to bring it like to a fantasy That was a little bit it was cuz you know, I have them on my team Yeah, you got blown you got you got blown by the worst player in the fucking league. You know what happened is um
54:02 Justin: you know, I lost by five points and Random Marshall telling people oh no, it's so embarrassing. It was like sixty five to sixty is so so bad Jake: The lowest score I think in the league this year. I lost by those Justin: five or six points and Brandon Marshall dropped a touchdown. Well he had it, they called it a touchdown and then they reversed it because he had a little bobble. That was the play that I lost on. His other personality caught the ball. Yeah, and his other personality dropped it. But these are two really hot teams. Here's why I'm picking Dallas. is Really playing for something Miami's playing for pride and all but Dallas is playing for pride and First place in their division and I feel like on Turkey Day in Dallas. That's a game that they got a win It's gonna be ugly, but Dallas wins 1713 Dallas actually has a good Good D. They have a good D, they have a good offense, they're balanced, they can run, they can throw, Jake: they can stop a team. There's no reason to think that the Dallas isn't going to win this game. So then I had a problem of who do I pick. I went with Dallas, so I think if there's an overage, the Dallas could win. I didn't go on 24-17. Miami's just a surprise kind of, you know, comeback team here, but again, they've gone up against them, not great teams. Justin: They are the best. Jake: But the best thing to do for us is beat the Pats later. Justin: You know, just do us a favor. Beat the Pats. Jake: Just once. Justin: And do they play Oakland? Is that like... Do we need to root for Miami? Yeah, that was a good favor. They play Oakland. That would be a favor. , a a a a a That's causing that line of the eye. Yeah, definitely. Although, again... I'm not sure if it necessarily matters. Jake: I think it matters from a scrambling standpoint. Vic can clearly move up the field faster. He's a little bit more accurate. Young through, I think he threw three interceptions. He threw three picks. Yeah, he's not like, you know, he's not on it. And although he just does win, I don't know. Justin: I honestly, until that last play of that Giants game, I thought he was going to... Oh my god, I just looked at the score that you picked. We both think Philly's gonna win and we both think they're gonna win by one point.
57:00 Justin: Oh wow. But three points separated. Yeah. So I think regardless of Vic or Vince Young. Yeah. Philly's gonna win this game. Got a lot of weapons. I think they got the weapons. I think they have the pass rush. I do I think that they have the rush and The players to be able to play in space with the Pats, right? That said Philly has been so disappointing all year. It's hard to do this This is really like I said, I'm picking with the heart this week Philly 24 New England 23 Jake: Yeah, I there's something about I just think coming off the Monday night going to Philly tough place to play I think the fans are kind of gonna be a little bit psyched cuz like we're not totally 100 million percent out of it There's don't they have the sliver of hope that we have a letting go. No, we have we have a slice We have a whole slice and I you know, I think they're gonna be a little I don't think they're getting Macklin back this week Not sure if it matters, you know, but McCoy dangerous very if they use him well They can be dangerous against the players. Very dangerous. So I could totally see this being a 20, the way I could see this game is going down is 26 and then he could drive down and do a touchdown and that's it, not leaving him enough time. Don't leave him a minute and you know, nine seconds on the clock to win the game. I think Phil is gonna win 27, 26, one point. Oh, sorry. Justin: Coughing at the nation would be very upset very unprofessional coughing here and then the game of the the game of the century Millennium game of the millennium Jake: You will be there once again, although that's kind of not even like that's almost like a given Justin: I see the bills every year. It's my one game if I go to one game If you were to go one day if I were to give it be given the option Justin you have one game This will be the game. Yeah, the Buffalo Bills Coming into town on the injury train. Yeah, so you know, we could say what was me? We got injuries and we do make missing some guys always us but they really are missing You know, they got they got hurt. They got hurt bad, Miami beat them up They're miss I have to imagine you know I have to look but I have to imagine that They're Jackson is is why I've heard Jackson is not gonna play. Oh really? I've heard they're preparing CJ Spiller to Just get ready buddy. You're starting great. They lost McGee their corner. They lost Donald Jones They're starting receiver both on the IR both done for the year. So they are just getting just completely injured. Between those two guys, those are two starters on the outside that we have to take advantage of. I mean, look. If Spiller is not... Because what they've been doing is... Donald Jones was injured earlier in the year. Spiller was playing wide receiver. Well now Spiller can't do that. He's got to play running back where he belongs. If Fred Jackson's not going to play.
1:00:01 Justin: Because I read somewhere that they're getting Spiller ready to start. Okay. So. You know, both of these guys being out certainly helps, helps in the passing game. Sanchez should, you know, with McGee, their best corner not on the field, that should be a plus. With Jones not on the field, that eliminates a big receiver that you have to cover. Basically, Rivas takes Stevie Johnson. And Camardi play the other side. It'll probably be David Nelson outside Spiller is not the weapon that friend Jackson is and I think at this point It's it's over the bills, you know what they're doing it's over for them, right? They're running these little short little bullshit plays Jam them up at the line disrupt their timing a little right now if they don't know friend Jackson to like, you know battle them out, can't see them really scoring on us. Just like they couldn't score on us last time. I don't think that there's gonna be that much of a dif- like, I don't feel like there's gonna be that much of a difference between this game and the last game. It's only a couple weeks apart. Um, I like the Jets 27-9. Give me your keys to the castle for the game. Um... Think we have to jump out on offense and do something Jake: Get out there and this three zero to half. No, we gotta get out there and score on the first drive Justin: Don't miss a field goal early score touchdown score a fucking touchdown on the first drive. All right Go out there ram it down their throats. They're not gonna be able to stop us. You get rolling early. You're gonna continue rolling And then just be able to run the ball out because they're not gonna be able to score score early you win the game It's over. They're not gonna be able to come back. They can't they don't have the weapons They don't they can I have a weapon or two I mean Stevie Johnson's but weapon any anytime you tell me that you have a weapon and it's a wide receiver I say great because that's the thing we can stop Yeah, no easy. That's the easy one. I hear Evis cover him over game over. I agree I told me it's a like, you know when we play the end when we play the evils later on in the year That's more challenging because you have just the bow you have a guy that can sort of beat you We have to play very disciplined and stay in your lanes and not be able to look what we did the touchdown, the team was, and decided to just shit out of them. From what happened, he gets outside and runs on us. Jake: My key to the week is just a player. That's not Sanchez. It's one player who I think needs a big game and this is the team he wants to do it against at home with his new team. It's Maven time Maven time Maven time he was came very close in the last game like you had a hand on Oh, this is a game for him. This is a game me for him. It's a it's a I Would get him pumped up and would tee him up every freaking play because he's gonna land a few
1:03:02 Justin: Yeah, I just think they should almost start him. Yeah, and I know that they they've been starting McIntyre right at the outside linebacker spot and rotating in Maven and Westerman in the pass rush situations. Buts this is a game where there's gonna be a lot of rushing in the passer. Because I don't feel like Spiller is a good running back. And they're gonna just get that right off at the beginning.
